Who would have thought this place served good banana bread?  Not I, that's for sure...

It's perfectly made banana bread (with a touch of liquer) topped off with whipped cream and a side of perfectly carmelized bananas.  Add in some caramel drizzle and you've got "orgasmic!"

On the contrary, my white chocolate creme brulee was satisfying, but definitely lacked in punch.  It was ordinary and didn't offer anything extraordinary.  I also was a bit disappointed in the strawberry shake.  It wasn't to say that it tasted horrible, but it just didn't do much for me in the end.

Next time I'm here for a Superbowl nightcap, I'm going to definitely order the banana bread for myself.

    "What's that smell?"
    "Moss?"
    "Seaweed?"
    "Algae!"
    "Weird."

I think it might have been the water fountain at the entrance.

On the center floor sits the bar with tables on the perimeter. Directly above is the dome shaped ceiling, and the sides are plastered with plasmas, LCDs and projector screens. No matter where you sit, you'll get a good shot of one of the screens. I like the captions on when I'm in a bar. Considering I am in a Sports Bar, and I like to keep up with the news, I hate having to guess what they are saying. Minus 2 stars for that.

The prices are above average. Heffy on tap, bottle budlight, and one appetizer: 21 bucks.

You can hand-ball bowl for 3 bucks a ball.

I might come back with a group of people, but not a place I'd hit for a couple drinks.

    Atmosphere sucked. Not impressed.

    Very fun evening!

My friend's girlfriend threw a big birthday bash for him at this place on Friday and it was a blast.  They have a private room with a mini bowling alley that she rented out.  The bowling balls are slightly bigger than a softball without the finger holes.  No bowling shoes needed either!  The pins are about half the size of real pins but it all works well.

Anyway, so she rented out this room, covered all the beer and wine our group could drink (and did we drink) and had a bunch of the FS Grill Apps/finger foods for us to munch on.  The spread included chips and their artichoke dip, chicken wings (really seasoned well and all the sauce options were left to us), chicken tenders (also shockingly good), sliders, spring rolls, and potstickers.  Quite the spread.  No clue how much this all set her back but it made for a great evening.

As the guys got a few beers in, our games became more heated with us trying to destroy the pins.  You can really get some velocity on the ball since its small.  We also had several flat screens in there with sports on all night so what more could a guy want.  Everyone had a great time and may passer-bys poked their head in wanting to know why we were having so much fun.  Again, I have no clue on the cost but if you want to do something different, this was a blast.

We sat in the restaurant portion of this place. We originally walked into the bar area and it was so loud lil guy was like NO WAY. We then walked all around looking for a place to eat at before realizing that there was another part to this place.

We were seated pretty quickly. I guess we got lucky. It was after all Friday night and every place had a 45 min wait (which we weren't willing to do) so we opted the way out. I hoped the food and service wouldn't be too awful just because we were seated very quickly.

Turned out, our server was delightful. She was really nice without being overly eager or overly OTT. I liked that she was really genuine.

Hubby and I both ordered salads as our entrees and lil guy the kid's pizza. I also ordered the chicken wings because I felt like 'em. Well, the salads were both pretty good. Hubby got the cobb and I got the chop chop. Lil guy said his pizza was excellent, but it was the chicken wings that I was highly impressed with.

The wings had a dry rub and you could have them tossed in a spicy or even spicier sauce. I asked for the spicier sauce on the side. It also came with blue cheese dressing. The wings were great. Had great flavor. I also liked the fact that I could control how much sauce I used. It would've been overkill had we requested them to be tossed in the sauce.

Overall a really nice experience. The restaurant portion also has 2 private rooms if you want to have a party. Both were really nice. One is enclosed by a cascading waterfall and the other is just your traditional looking room.

Food was good, service was excellent!

Why 2 stars? The food is horrible, the drinks are poorly mixed, and the food is horrible. I have had to go here for a few different occasions and I cringe when I have to order. Yes, there is a TV, a bunch of them...wow!  Go here to watch Pujols hit 80 Hrs or the Clippers win a title, and then get on with your night.

Did I mention the food is horrible? It is really hard to get past that. A bowling alley, some private rooms, and a chaotic bar that is like an IMAX theater...it just does not do it for me.

Some of the seats are very comfortable though and I do wanna stress it's a great place to watch a game. Just have an exit plan and get out of there.

They need to take out the bowling alley and invest in some chefs. If you take a client here, rest assure you will lose your deal.  Well, the servers are quite attractive though, I guess that is enough for some people. Bottom line is that there are much better choices at the Spectrum, even at the food court.

    The food is horrible.

Not a bad place at all.  The food isn't great, but isn't bad here.  But kinda what you expect for a place like this.  Good variety of things to eat and drinks.  Lotsa TV's and the ambiance is good.  If this was closer to me, I'd be here a lot more often.
At night there seems to be a lot of 40+ guys in pack lookin to spit some bad game at girls, so watch out for that.  Otherwise, you'll have a blast here.

This was a good place to be on a major football game sunday, especially if you are like me and enjoy a higher penis to vagina ratio.

Everyone was drinking, shouting, having a good time. The mojito I had was decent, the champagne was also merely decent (but, hey, I didn't pay for it), the shot o' Jack I had went down like gasoline. At least they had Stellas.

Bathroom was kind of dirty, shame on you, Fox Sports Grill.

The only thing that made this visit phenomenal was my good friend puking her guts out right in front of the big picture windows. On a Sunday afternoon with children running by.

Suddenly found ourselves in Orange County with a babysitter, so we headed out to the Spectrum to do some people-watching and grab a bite. I always under-estimate the wait times at malls, so after putting our name on the list at the Mexican place next door, my wife and I cautiously headed to Fox Sports Grill to have a drink and wait it out.

Decor was not at all what I'd expected. Ambient blues and cascading water flowing down high walls. The televisions were big but not super-loud. Zero wait, and the bartender was friendly and prompt.

After running next door to check the wait (and seeing people shoulder-to-shoulder straining to hear each other yelling), I went ahead and booked us a table at Fox. We ordered another round of drinks, and they had a table ready minutes later (place wasn't empty, just cavernous).

The super-friendly waitress came to the table right away. We split a green salad (they put it on separate plates without us asking) and we each got the swordfish over cheese ravioli special. Both were excellent. Fish was flaky and fresh, and the ravioli was piping hot and cooked to perfection; neither were very heavy. An extra star for value: the place didn't break the bank.

I expected to dislike the place, but came away pleasantly surprised. While I probably won't put this on my short list of date night restaurants, we had a great time and the food was delicious.

One weird note: the bathroom had an attendant, which is always kind of awkward for me, since I rarely carry cash. I expect to find this in much higher-end places (certainly not your usual sports-bar bathroom experience). Maybe this is just another nod to set themselves apart from competition. Anyway, a little odd.

Its a shame with all the money FOX has, that it cant come up with a decent restaurant.  The best part of this joint is the Bar & the Flat Screens.

Food is not worth mentioning.  Everything is bland.  No Flavor whatsoever.  Just because its a sports bar, doesnt mean you have to fry every g'damn piece of meat, seafood, and cheese!

You're better off grabbing a beer or a cocktail while enjoying MNF.  Dont bother with the food.

I hate this place. So does everyone I talk to that has been here.
The first (and only) time we came here we expected a super relaxed bar/grill type atmosphere where you can get comfortable and watch some sports games, after all it is called "Fox Sports Grill". Self explanatory name? Think again.
They try really hard to make it O.C. classy and chic, almost like a formal dining place, which completely threw us off because we were in sweatshirts and jeans. Lame.
And yes, the food is bad like everyone is saying. I had a horrible horrible salad that tasted like it was soaked in olive juice. I am still traumatized from that food experience.
Maybe in the past couple years it's gotten better, but I'd rather not waste my time finding out.

The food is really good!  We always order the BBQ Chicken nachos....majorly ONO!

I'm a bit shocked that this place has a three stars, but i guess everyone has their own experiences coming into places. I came here with my boyfriend on one of our date nights and the place itself is really something. There is a water fountain and big screens all over in the inside. Theres a room to play pool, but i believe after a certain time you have to pay a little something something to be able to play. They booths are pretty big and comfy as well as the tables.

The food, i love my prime rib and for 23 or so dollars for a big chunk of yummy prime rib, it was worth the date at fox sports grill. One star i've deducted due to the saltiness of my boyfriend's jambalaya. It was not all that great. So he mooched off my plate. Our server was really sweet though.

As far as food prices it's along the lines of cheesecake factory. The ambiance also made this place a bit more memorable. I can only speak for the prime rib, so if prime rib is what you seek then i'd suggest this classy but not extremely pricey place.

I vaguely remember this place when it first opened several years ago - you couldn't even get into this place.  I remember being pretty nice and the food wasn't all that bad either.  Went back to this place on Saturday night to watch the basketball and hockey playoff games.  The quality of this place has gone down dramatically.  The sofas along the windows were full of cuts and the paddings were showing through.  The quality of the projection TVs were pretty sad - fuzzy and tint of green.  what worst - the draft beers were no longer serving because the refrigeration for the tap beers were broken!?  WTF?  On top of that, vents & drainage in bathroom were broken and I really enjoyed nice urine fermenting smell.  Come on folks!

    Cheers

Combine sports bar with restaurant, mix it with a club atmosphere and you got what Fox Sports Grill is.

Food - While the food is decent, it's nothing to write home about.  I was expecting more but it could improve.
    Price - Mid-range ... standard Spectrum cost.
Service - Both good and bad.  During my dinner service, I remember getting decent service but having to wait at times.  When I was there for drinks, the bartenders were quite attentive.
Environment - The place looks very nice with its modern design.  However, the atmosphere seems to have an identity crisis.  For a sports bar/restaurant portion, it's not lively at all, just a restaurant with sports in the background.  The late night bar part suffers from a lack of people and quite frankly, I don't know if it's trying to be a club or a neighborhood bar because no one's on the same page.

While a decent place, it's quite average for a place that's not supposed to be average.  But still a nice alternative if you're in the mood for something different.

Suggestion - I've got nothing for you here.

    i debated on 3 or 4 stars..

wait to be seated.. no wait, and on a friday night at 8 at the spectrum i feel this was almost miraculous.

service.. ok, our waitress comes up, totally friendly, but only takes maybe 8 of the 12 drink orders, and walks off with out getting the others. then she gets the other drink orders, and does the same thing for the food orders. totally strange.

food.. burgers were mediocre, but the french dip was unbelievably good. i cant wait to go back just for that, thin sliced, tender prime rib french dip..

Honestly, I haven't eaten the food there but I had their white chocolate creme brulee! Oh my god..it's sooooo good! It made me go google for the recipe! The texture is so creamy and just perfect. It wasn't too sweet at all and didn't send me gagging for water.  The best part is the burnt sugar!! Aww man..it was so yummy!

We ate in the restaurant, and the bar was playing music so loud it was hurting our ears. The hostess was a Jessica Simpson look-a-like, nods to So-Cal in that respect. But the food was pretty good, not super spectacularly great, but pretty good. They do have a mini bowling alley which is very Orange County, and a cigar room which is kind of cool. People were getting pretty rowdy since it was a Friday night at "The Spectrum". I would assume it would be awesome if you were totally into sports, because they have about 1 million 80 inch Plasma screens plastered everywhere. I gave it an extra star for playing a Canadian Jackass X-treme sports type show I had never heard of, while I was eating fillet mignon.

Ok...My friends and I went here a while before and we sat in the bar area and I thought it was decent then because it seemed like a lively environment. But...I did prefer NOT to see cougars freakin each other to the music. Anyway, we went the other day to watch the Laker game ...though very disappointing..what even more disappointing was the waiter. He was RUDE, threw our check on the table because he was pissed at us for not leaving an additional tip on TOP of the 18% gratuity that HE DIDN'T DESERVE btw. He didn't refill our waters, or give us spoons when we asked. I understand it may have been frustrating because most people there weren't ordering much, just there to drink and watch the game, but he was VERY RUDE to us. If you want to spend your hard earned money on some semi-expensive drinks and food, be my guest. Hope you don't get that waiter we did.

"BEWARE of random acts of ASSAULT at Irvine Spectrum!!! I went to FOX SPORTS GRILL on Friday, Jan 19 for my birthday. I was there with my husband and friends for some music and drinks. We decided to go home around 1.50am and proceeded to exit the bar. Some of my friends came on separate cars so they left first. An African-American man who was seen in the bar followed us out the bar and PUNCHED my husband's face who fell straight to the ground. The man was UNPROVOKED; we have never seen/talked to him. Noone's seen this coming. The man ran away. My husband needed stitches near his right eye; huge swelling in the area, shattered teeth (they're veneers by the way) and blood all over his face. I called for security who was making rounds and he called the police. It took 30 mins before a police finally came to take a report. The Irvine spectrum security wasn't very sympathetic; he said to my husband who was in pain and bleeding "someday you're gonna look back at this and laughed". YEAH Thanks a lot!! Security even said that this happened every week. What is IRVINE SPECTRUM doing about this? Same thing happened with my husband's friend a year ago near CRAZY HORSE restaurant, also in Irvine Spectrum. Some cowards just feel the need to pop someone and we happened to be there at the wrong time, wrong place. Did I mention this happened In IRVINE, not LA?  I took my husband to the ER; spent $100 for co-pay. Dentist said it's gonna cost thousands to fix his veneers. I really2 hope the police is going to catch this criminal. What he's done was just fundamentally WRONG and outward COWARDICE. I just wasnt expecting something like this to happen in IRVINE."
