Four Winds Ranch
6 reviews for Four Winds Ranch
We cut down our Christmas trees at Four Winds every year. I've been going there since I was a kid. My brother and I had this game where you bend a tree back, and hide by it, waiting for the other to walk by. Let go and let them have it. Since it almost always rains before tree day, the trees are always wet and flinging water at your sibling is ever so much fun!
Any tree is $50. They have mainly Douglas firs, but if you drive beyond the back parking lot, and hike around a bit, you can find some noble firs. Some families set up elaborate tailgating parties in the parking lot. There are often Tamales for sale, and we have bought those to take home. They are home made and wonderful. We did not see them for sale this year, but maybe they had sold out, or the Tamale maker did not do them for whatever reason.
There must be a hundred tree farms in the general vicinity, but this is the one we go to.
Great place to go lumberjack and cut down your own tree. For $50.00 you can cut down any size and type of tree you want - so many to choose. We bring our dogs a lunch and make the tree cutting expedition a party - darn good time - friendly staff here.
2nd year cutting a tree here. We like the fixed price of $50 for any size or type of tree and great views. They have lots of selection and lots of taller trees. Only downside is it is up a windy road and is a bit farther than some of the other places on 17.
My wife and I cut down our first Christmas tree last week and had such a great experience! Four Winds has a huge selection of trees that are very reasonably priced. The Customer service is excellent! We forgot our checkbook and the staff told us to mail them a check, no questions asked! Wow. My wife and I plan to make it a family tradition to return to Four Winds every Christmas. We highly recommend Four Winds!!!
We almost did not cut our own tree this year, but so glad we did. The kids insisted, and the wife spent some time Saturday night looking online for a good place, and soon we were off early on a bitter cold Sunday morning in order to wedge a tree-hunting expedition into a busy weekend.
From the looks of the website, Four winds was deemed most sincere of the christmas tree farms (last year's was a little too slick for me) and it was just as homey when we arrived. The place is big, funky and friendly. Nice people greet you at the gate and hand you a saw, and it just seemed like a nice place to walk around.
Prices are good, and the selection is great. The place is huge. Fortunately, our tree was pretty easy to find. (Actually, it was freezing-ass cold, and nobody was feeling particularly picky.
Since it was early, tamales were in plentiful supply and they are quite good. $10.00 for six generous home-made tamales, and a quart of fresh salsa for $5.00. We got salsa and 12 tamales, and should have gotten at least 12 more.
The kids are already talking about going back next year, but the wife wants go go back next week for more tamales.
Very friendly, down-home, cut-yer-own Christmas tree farm. From the extensive research I've done, they also seem to have the best prices, too: $40 for any size tree, which is a bargain! They sell snacks to fuel your hunt, and I love that the trees aren't planted in any organized fashion. You can really pretend you're a mountain man (or woman) in the forest, searching for the perfect holiday mascot to take home. And the grounds are pretty large; we've never come across a boundary that we know of in all of our traipsing from year to year.
They also have tamales, but they've always been sold out by the time I show up, damnit. I love tamales.
