Went here for family vaca/wedding. Maxed and Relaxed!

My favorite part was the pool area. I looked it up - $4 million pool area!
The materials and furniture are chic incorporating teak wood, horsetail plants aka "pop grass", and orange canvas umbrellas. The renovation is easy on the eyes, the water feature sooths the ears and when the servers spray you with Evan, well that's soothing too. This area includes a roomy bar, pool and jacuzzi with ample seating. The family was complaining about the drink prices, but it IS the Four Seasons!

The spa/gym was a spacious highlight with a variety of fitness equipment and spa services.

The rest of the hotel is pretty formal yet warm. We were upgraded to a suite, which was fine by us!

It is centrally located downtown across the street from the House of Blues, which is a plus. I recommend for business or pleasure.

I must admit, I do not typically stay at a place as pricey as the Four Seasons, but I got a super deal on-line (each second night free -- thus, I paid for two nights during my four night stay). The room itself was very pleasant -- comfy bedding, large, over-sized pillows, and updated with a flat-screen television and DVD player.

However, I was confused by the Four Seasons' definition of the "Do Not Disturb" sign. At other hotels, both across the United States and internationally, when I put up the "Do Not Disturb" sign, it signifies that I don't want to have the room disturbed. I typically use this sign as a way of indicating that I do not need new towels or sheets, or simply don't need the bed made.

After our first full day there, we walked in to the room after the evening baseball game, and found that housekeeping had indeed come in, done their thing, and left the radio on so the sweet sounds of classical music would greet us upon our return. Who knows how long the radio had been on!

On my recent trip to the Four Seasons Houston, I quickly discovered that the sign actually means, "Do not disturb -- unless it's after 2pm. After 2pm, you may assume that I am an idiot, and forgot to take down the sign before leaving my room for the day. Come on in -- replace the towels that I so neatly hung on the towel rod wanting to reuse; make the bed that I already had done for myself; empty the trash can that has but one q-tip in it."

After the second day of housekeeping coming in to replace everything, despite our following the instructions about hanging up towels we did not want washed, we had to go to the front desk to cancel all housekeeping services for the remainder of our stay.

This much, I will say with certainty -- The Four Seasons Houston is absolutely NOT interested in conserving water or electricity, contrary to their own published cards in the room.

On the upside: the hotel is within walking distance to the Astros' Minute Maid Park.

It's like most Four Seasons - quiet and very nice.  It's not lively and exciting like the Austin Four Seasons.  But that's not a bad thing.

I gave it four stars because it's kind of boring.  There really isn't much going on in the area.  You can't walk anywhere exciting.  It's nice that the House of Blues is around the corner.  But that's about all you can do.  It's a great place for holding a conference (that's why I used it).

I don't know if staying at a five star hotel should necessarily warrant a five star rating, but in this case it does.  Have you ever stayed at a hotel by yourself?  Has your boss ever sent you across the country to give a presentation in front of 200 people (by yourself?).  Have you ever had to introduce yourself to four CFO /CEO / COO/ President types as the sole point of contact for your company?

Well good for you, but this was the first time for me.  And I was scared shitless.  The folks at the Four Seasons gave me a complimentary upgrade to a suite.  The room was lovely, comfortable and luxurious.  They provided impeccable customer service to calm my consistent flow of panic attacks.  They had a bellman waiting anytime I needed assistance with my heavy conference display.

The Houston marathon was taking place this same weekend and hotel was swarmed.  They still found enough time for me and my spaz attacks.  You take a five star hotel, couple it with southern hospitality and it will ensure a fabulous stay.  I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Houston for business.

Also, thank you for putting me on the same floor as the Miami Heat.  They were very nice floormates.

Once, when I was in Houston for business, I stayed a couple of nights at the Four Seasons. At the end of two long days of work I couldn't decide if I wanted to go to their rooftop pool for a swim or to the bar for a drink...

("and I realized that not only did I not want to answer that question, but I never wanted to answer another water sports question or see any of these people again for the rest of my life. Three days later I was on my way out to the desert."...sorry, couldn't resist throwing in a quote from one of my favorite movies of all time)

anyway, so, I did BOTH and ordered room service and ate a delicious meal in a big fluffy robe while I watched T.V. These are the tough decisions that you have to make while staying at the Four Seasons.

While my room was big and comfortable and the amenities were nice it all seemed like it needed updating (hence the four stars). Good thing (I heard) they're renovating the sleeping rooms (flat screen TVs), interior (opening up the atrium area), and pool (adding a rooftop bar...tres L.A).. No doubt I'll be there sipping cocktails before they can get the pool filled and the drinks stocked!

what more do you expect from a 4 seasons?  it was great.  sure it could stand to be updated a little bit but our stay here was fantastic.

holy cow was it expensive!  we went because there was a two nights for one deal which they were running.  i think it was about $230 for two nights?  well, with beers by the pool and a few snack... some breakfast... the weekend came out to over $550!  be careful, the "incidentals" will kill ya.

Probably one of the older Four Seasons, I stayed here on business.  The building and rooms were old but the staff was super nice - classic Four Seasons service!
