60 reviews for Four Seasons Hotel Chicago
Flawless service; lives up to the brand in every respect. Tasteful, modern styling with superb views.
My quibbles are all minor: in our suite the WC was not separate from the bath, and room service seemed to have trouble with our request for anything beyond a pot of coffee (they did manage a latte after some prodding). You have to take an elevator to the main lobby from the street.
With current trends in the economy don't be surprised if they offer to upsell you to a suite for a reduced rate at check-in. Four Seasons management does not allow them to cut back on service, but they will allow below-radar discounting.
I love this hotel. From check-in to check-out, I was really impressed.
Admittedly, it's the first time I'd stayed in a Four Seasons hotel anywhere, but the staff was warm and friendly, the room was amazing, and our views of Lake Michigan and the Hancock Tower were even better. The restaurant and bar in the lobby were delicious. Prices are expensive ($82 for breakfast for two people), but I mean, it's the Four Seasons who cares!? haha.
The decor was awesome, the floral arrangements were changed out every couple of days and were always gorgeous. I really felt like I was able to relax in the middle of the city for once. The spa and gym area were excellent and the indoor pool, while a bit humid and stinky, was very clean and relaxing.
The concierge service was great in helping us plan our daily activities. The male concierge was also really easy on the eyes lol.
I just want to go back each and every time I'm in Chicago. I loved my stay and I'd recommend it to anyone else considering a trip!
Stayed here on business and got the basic room. Overall great service, quality and cleanliness with a fantastic location by Michigan Ave. Access to restaurants and shops, especially Tiffany's and best buy...Do not forget about the gym, heated pool and upscale locker room with steam room, this that and the other.
This review isn't so much about the actual hotel as it is about the brunch I had here last weekend.
So, my dear friends from forever ago are getting married this Memorial Day weekend. We had brunch as the first in a loooong string of parties, events, dinners, BBQs and celebrations leading up to the actual day itself. It's going to be a busy May!
Dressed in Sunday best (suit/tie), I walked into the already-elegant Four Seasons lobby area. We took a left into an anteroom for the Delaware Room. The gathering was hapily chatting it up, sipping champagne and mimosas, listening to a piano player who kept playing fancier versions of top 40 hits. (The music heads in the room all chuckled when Bryan Adams started to be played, as the non-music heads just sort of swayed around to the keys.) The festivities on Saturday night had taken their toll, and for some reason, champagne was what I needed at that time... hair o' the dog..
When the double doors to the Delaware Room were opened, we entered a bright, classically styled dining room with probably 8 or 9 12 tops about the room. And, oh my, were there food stations!
Directly behind me was the main brunch spread. It included (in no particular order): meat and cheese platters, mustards, olives, eggs benedict, ricotta blintzes, squash raviollis w/ pine nuts, a bazillion types of potatoes, salad stations, and many other very well prepared brunch items.
There was a separate table with a bagel tree with a wide assortment of bagels, 3 different types of cream cheese (regular, chive and dill? can't remember the third), ever-replenishing lox, capers, freshly sliced deep red tomatoes and red onions with bite.
Sadly, I didn't get to visit the omlette station, but I overheard very good things. The dessert station was pretty comprehensive as well. There were small cake bites, creme brulees, fresh fruits, and other assorted goodies.
The service was top notch. All juice (orange and grapefruit) was fresh squeezed, and at the very end when most of the guests had left, my buddy the groom asked a waiter for one last glass of bubbly. The waiter laughed and said, "why not?!" and came right back with a tray full of em.
I shudder to think what the total bill was for that amazing brunch, but it was a definite highlight in an otherwise crappy weekend (long story). If that brunch is anything like what "regular" brunch at the Four Seasons is like, color me impressed and intrigued.
The Four Seasons Chicago is one of my fav. hotels! My last visit was about a year ago but throughout all my travels and experience with various hotels the Four Seasons Chicago has been the best!
The lobby is beautiful and the traditionally decorated with dark mahogany wood and marble flooring.
The rooms are a good size and the service is impeccable. Not to mention my view was great too. When you walked into the room you couldn't help but feel relaxed. Not to mention the bathrooms were very nice too.
My visit mainly consisted of shopping so being connected to the Michigan Ave. Mall was a bonus.
The restaurant's had great menu's and I can say everything I ate during my stay was wonderful....even the room service.
Will not come back here again.
My father asked for a newspaper 3 times and it was never delivered.
He asked for a wake up call and that did not happen either.
The second time he asked for a wake up call, it was the wrong time (like 5 am in the morning) He ignored the wake up call, and this person went up to the room and knocked on the door..
My favorite four seasons hotel is still in Hong Kong :)
The Four Seasons is probably my favorite hotel in the city. Not only is the hotel absolutely beautiful, but the guest rooms are a good size and the service is top notch.
A girlfriend of mine was visiting from out of town, and I went for a visit. I absolutely love the hospitality world, and The Four Seasons did not disappoint. The decor is traditional and charming, and almost feels like you are in a guestroom of a beautiful home. Their beds are incredibly comfortable. Best of all, they have L'Occitane bath amenities - perfect for pampering!
If you are traveling to Chicago and need a luxurious place to rest your head, this is it!
This is one of the most amazing places in the world. Seriously, in the world. The rooms are decorated tastefully with lavish appointments. State of the art technology, world class business services. The service is just beyond excellent in every facet of the organization, from reservations to bellman to the room service waiters.
I have attended Service Club galas in their gorgeous ballroom and attended after hours parties in various suites. I have stayed with visiting friends for in town weekends are truly felt a world away and housed visiting bands and certain entertainment industry folks here. I have spent a lot of time in the lobby waiting for someone for a pr blitz and have always secretly savored the wait.
There is not request too small or too grand for the team at the Four Seasons. It is elegant and opulent and world class. From the minute you see the bellman statue hailing a taxi on Delaware Place to the check in desk located floors above, everything, and I mean everything is stunning. I have had the brunch here on many special occasions and it is always so over the top decadent that I cannot even summon the words to describe it.
This needs to be in the book "Places to Sleep One Night Before I Die" that I'm going to write.
I manage the travel affairs for some of the most powerful business men in the world, with very strict demand and no-exception rules for their hotel accommodations. I can ALWAYS count on Four Seasons Chicago.
I can call them and ask them to measure how high all the seats of the chairs are, how high the mattresses are from the floor, if there's xx inches between furniture pieces, to remove certain pieces of furniture from rooms, and they accommodate everything I ask. (Well not me, but the men who will be using the rooms.)
Their guest services, catering services, meeting and banquet services are first rate. The main lobby and corridor are lovely, and the bar is a nice place to relax.
I would recommend this hotel highly for business and pleasure. It is elegant. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was just that it is not as luxurious as some other hotels in town (for the price.)
I feel obligated to review this hotel as I have just stayed here for over a week on business and have stayed here probably on almost 10 prior occasions over the last 20 years (I have stayed elsewhere in Chicago as well).
Great location in a wonderful building which is directly connected to an upscale Michigan Ave shopping center. Wonderful views from almost any room. Relatively recently the hotel rooms have been redone and are now far nicer with a modern airy look. I did upgrade to a suite as I was going to be here for awhile and the suite was laid out beautifully. Separate BedR and LR with large contemporary bathroom. 2 large HD flat screen TV, free Internet, nice desk area. The hallways are light and elevators always timely.
The pool area is probably one of the nicest in the city, movies have been filmed there. Great views of the city and large comfortable hot tub. The exercise area is larger than most hotels and well equipped and clean.
Steam and sauna in high end locker room area. Last trip didn't get spa services but have in the past and they were very good but pricey.
The bar is classic dark wood and leather and well worth more than just a visit, some of the Chicago characters in there are worth the price of a drink. A stop in the bar is a must! Oddly I have only occasionally eaten in the restaurant and it was very good with nice view of Michigan Ave but not outstanding. Room service was hit on many times and was good to excellent depending upon selections. They even have a special menu for in room movie dining that came in handy when I was held up in the room sick for a couple of days.
Overall this is the definition of urban hotel excellence. If you want to stay at a high end hotel in Chicago this is the place.
wow is all i can say.
we were here for a wedding last week. everything was amazing. the food, the service, the decor.
it is definitely not cheap, but if you want the best service in chicago, right down to the white gloves, this is the place to go. rooms are HUGE for a city hotel. and stocked just the way you like you are treated like royalty and they make no exception to go out of their way to accommodate. if you can afford it, do it. if you can't, then at least go to the lounge for a drink.
I had a great lake view room for a week. Great service as usual. I love the complimentary over night shoe shine. The rooms are updated and modern. The lobby is beautiful and updated. I had breakfast each morning in the cafe. The bagels are really small which I didn't like. Don't know how much anything cost because I didn't pay for it. But overall very enjoyable stay.
I had the best brunch of my life at the Four Seasons Chicago. $70-80 a head, but it's worth twice that. The food really is amazing. Sushi bar, fine cheeses and meats, great ethnic variety, small tapa plates which were fantastic, and the desserts were awesome.
Not a lot of specific detail in this review - this is because I blacked out due to sensory overload related to how fantastic the food was here. 10 stars.
Bf and I stayed here for the weekend. The decor is beautiful which is a compliment that I'll rarely bestow on a hotel. Our room had a lovely "color story" of slate blue/brown/beige/white. Anyway, I approve. We spent lots of time in the pool and jacuzzi. I was very surprised and, therefore, delighted, to find that the pool is not over chlorinated. I was able to do my laps without goggles. Yay! The room service food is the best I've had; I recommend the multigrain pancakes with seasonal fruit. My only room service complaint is that, by default, the staff person explains each dish and item, down to the butter. It gets quite tedious! The next time we had something delivered, we told the gentleman he didn't have to go through the effort.
The best part of the weekend was our massages! Thea is an excellent masseuse. I'd recommend coming here for a massage, even as a non-guest, they let you use the pool, sauna, and steam room along with your service (Pedicure/Manicure, Facial, Spa Treatment, Massage etc.).
This review is specific to the dining and private event rooms.
At my wife's Christmas party this year, I was thoroughly impressed with the Four Season's ability to provide that certain old fashioned, white glove, highly formal level of service. I'm talking about the kind thats completely unobtrusive, yet makes you feel like you're visiting royalty.
The single bartender did a thoroughly excellent job of managing the requests of about 60 people simultaneously, and didn't skimp on the alcohol. The appetizers were a treat, and I'm especially thankfull to have tried what basically amounts to a mini gourmet grilled cheese sandwhich. My steak main course was the picture of perfection, leaving me with that odd sense of loss after finishing and having no more to enjoy.
So after keeping the drinks flowing and the party uninterrupted, I was extra impressed that our Four Seasons host let us take some extra time to finish the party off. They were very accomodating and in no hurry to shove people out the door.
Overall, it felt more like we were honored guests than paying customers. Where else do you get that treatment?
Very nice hotel. The location is top notch, down the street more or less to the Hancock Building. I got an upgrade to a suite last time and wholly smokes the place was amazing. Two huge flat screens, an enormous and insanely comfortable bed, huge multi room bathroom, and a separate changing area. All for 300 bucks!
The style of the hotel though is more old school than I prefer...crystal chandeliers, marble throughout, a splash or three of mahogany. At this price range, Id prefer something a touch more modern and innovatively designed. But certainly no reason to not recommend the place.
I stayed here for business and got upgraded to a very nice suite and complimentary room service for my stay due to a room booking issue. They went way out of their way to make sure my stay was good. The food was excellent, room service good, extrordinary views, overall excellent experience.
This review is for the afternoon tea service. I've been to many different afternoon teas around the city, and this is by far the best! Held in the Conservatory, it's a little piece of tranquil elegance from a bygone era. The service is flawless, the food delicious, the atmosphere luxurious yet comfortable. Of course, the teas are excellent. I believe I had the camomile last time. There's also an Assam that's really good.
Oh, and if you go there, please don't be like the tourists from Detroit at the table next to us - The Four Seasons is not the place to wear plastic flip-flops, cutoff khakis, and t-shirts. Call me a snob if you want, but there's a time and a place for everything.
This review is for the bar at the Four Seasons, which is my favorite place in the city to sit back and unwind with some yummy snacks and martinis after a long day of shopping.
The service is always flawless. What do you expect? It's the Four Seasons. And even if it's not on the menu, ask for an Iced Vine. It's sort of like a frozen green grape slushy with Siroc Vodka. It is wonderful and to die for and if I could drink them everyday after work I would.
This review is for the bar at the Four Seasons as well as their banquet and catering facilities which are some of the best in the city! If you are planning a function- you must consider the Four Seasons.
I attended a function here last night- and like any other Four Seasons property I have visited, I was not disappointed. The pre-event cocktail party went flawlessly. Drinks and appetizers were passed by waiters in white coats. The hot food was hot and the cold food cold. Empty glass in your hand? Before you could even look for a place to set it down, someone came along and replaced it with a full one. My kind of place!
Once seated at dinner, the service continued. I attend alot of functions so I am fairly critical of banquet food. This food was plated in front of you. They came around and asked if you wanted the filet or the salmon and then served it and the sides effortlessly working quickly through the 300 or so guests. The food was perfectly cooked and looked pretty on my plate. Way to go Four Seasons!
When dinner was over, we didn't want to end our evening just yet- so a large (and I mean large!) contingency of us descended on the bar. Not one staff person looked irritated- in fact- after greeting us as the door, the staff immediately started rearranging the furniture to accommodate our large sized group. The piano player took our requests all night (even tried to play along with one of our group who thought she could sing). We basically took over the bar, and the entire seating area and the staff could not have been more pleasant! While the prices aren't cheap- it was worth every penny!
Every once in awhile you have an experience that spoils you for anything else. And the Four Seasons, once again, has spoiled me,as everything else will seem lacking.
This is a review for the bar at the Four Seasons. In one sentence, this is the kind of bar that makes you feel finally grown up.
In a few more words, it's warm bar (wood paneling and conservative treatments do that) to relax, enjoy good wine or cordials and facilitate conversation with friends (yes, you can actually hear in this bar). Service is spot on (what do you expect from the Four Seasons group?) and of course, the bill is always reflective of the spot on service (read: pricey). But, I've done business here a few times and I think it's worth the investment.
This hotel is great. It's luxurious and really a special treat. The service is attentive without being annoying. The rooms are lovely and the food in the restaurant is really quite special. I've also been to an event here and it was flawless as well.
One tip, if you arrive here in a high end luxury car, you won't have to pay for valet parking. If you arrive in a Jeep Wrangler (like our friends did) you will. That was a bit mean of the Four Seasons I think, but it's still a great hotel.
have the "pleasure" of flying out to the windy city, oh...like 5-7 times/year, and usually in the fall/winter...(short straw...winnah!) however, despite the F*CKING insanely cold weather, the property is top-shelf.
as a 4Seasons guest, I get - check this out - the SAME room (or at least the same executive suite facing lake MI) each time I check in. at bed turndown, my favorite Norweigan VOSS water (6.4pH) and a hit of Godiva chocolates are there to kiss me off to sleep. in the AM, a copy of the WSJ and LA times are there for me to read on the way into the office.
every idiosyncracy is managed in a database (worldwide) and to the gnats A$$. I want my shoes shined and back by 5:30am, shirts cleaned/pressed, medium starch - done. any other request is but a call or concierge buzz away.
oh, and the best part of this property? mmm....a 9 iron swing away from Rush Street - home to some of Chicago's most pimpin' bars/restaurants. get lit? no worries, stumble home.
Decor, design, amenities are as swank and as upscale as any 5-star, elite location, and competitive with ANY of the Tokyo - Shinjuku/Ginza/Shibuya, London - Hyde Park/Kensington/Peterborough Court, HK-Kowloon properties I've stayed at.
the Swisshotel in Chicago (on Whacker, across from Shula's) is a top-notch property as well (nice down pillows), but the Chicago 4Seasons' tempur-pedic mattresses and frosted glass bathroom/shower doors are just too sexy to forget!
Wherever I find myself on the globe - I am a 4Seasons lifer!
I came here for a meeting and it was fantastic. The hotel is bright and the service is friendly. The hotel gift shop was open relatively late and I could get a magazine and some drinks. I ordered sushi from the restaurant below, that was just mediocre, or else I would give this place 5 stars.
My room was spacious and nice. Amenities were good, bed super comfy.
Yes, Yes, and double yes! As it concerns the rooms. The beds are so comfortable that it really doesn't bother me that a million people have slept there before me. The robe in the room is pretty sweet too.
The view from my room was nice as was everyone every single step of my stay there. I wish I could live here.
This review is actually for the conservatory area's afternoon tea service.
I've been here multiple times as a daughter-mother and daugther-mother-grandmother outing and we truly had a fantastic tea time. This has become a tradition a few times a year.
You must ask to be seated near the windows, for some daylight and fantastic views (albeit a tad tight) of Michigan Avenue. The last service is at around 3 pm daily.
The tea service is selected from a brief menu that range from special adult beverage accompanied specialties, to the lesser priced regular tea and pastries. The pastries tray includes savories such as a delectable chicken curry and cranberry toast, petit fours, fruit tartlets, and other amazing bursts of texture and flavor. Truly an aesthetic and culinary journey.
The teas selection is quite something, delicately flavored fruity green tea and jasmine tea to your classic, more robust offerings. The teapots are quite unique in that they are tiltable with a repository for the loose leaf portion.
Be sure you have everything you need upon being served as the attendants make themselves scarce so you can enjoy your experience fully and peacefully.
Wow, I love it. this is a really nice hotel. its very fancy and plush. they have nice rooms and nice beds. i felt comfy in this place.
my family visited and stayed in a nice room. they have a nice view over the lake. also, there are good tv's in the room for watching movies.
its really close to the shopping and stuff, too. very convenient. the staff people are very nice and helpful, too. everyone says good morning or good evening to you.
one time we got room service and we got ice cream and cake. then they brought it too us and they gave us cookies too. oh, i'm so full.
they have nice bathrooms, too, except in the room my family had, the bathroom was divided by a door, the sink on one side an the toilet and shower on the other, but the door was like, glass with some frosted glass pattern on it only, so you could still see each other through the door. ew. they have nice shampoo and soap, too, i think its l'occitane.
i like the flowers in the hotel, they are very beautiful.
anyway, just to say, this place is not very cheap. i think one night costs like as much as my apartment rent...or more.
My uncle loves this place and i got to stay there after a long weekend of work and it was great. Basically everything you'd expect from top of the line luxury hotel.
Definitely beats the one in Santa Barbara (with railroad tracks right next to it).
Great place if you have a little cash to spend.
We stayed a couple of nights here earlier this month. Like other Four Seasons properties, this property is consistently good. Great service! The concierge was able to secure a spot on the list at Avec (a restaurant that did not take reservations and has long waits but she was able to put us on the list as we left the hotel). The spa folks were able to secure us two spa appointments despite overbooking. The gym was a good size and included the standard headphones for each cardio machine, tv monitors on each cardio machine, bottled watter, and towels sitting on each machine. The rooms are nicely done. We loved the bathrooms and plan on taking some of thier ideas and implementing them when we remodel one of ours.
Oh, and my wife loved the cookies and hot chocolate that they serve for free in the lobby in the afternoon.
Never stayed here, but I can comment on the BRUNCH
This was the most diverse brunch spread I have ever seen. Although it is pricey, it is totally worth it. The atmosphere and service was delightful.
They have the standard omlette station and waffle/pancake station (even those are fancy) but then they surprise with two full asian sections (hand rolled sushi, pot stickers, spring rolls, crab rangoon and then some), every salad you can think of, a bloody mary station, a moroccan station, a carving station with all sorts of delicious looking meats, and the best part, a desert section with homemade ice creams and tarts and cakes of every shape in size. There had to have been about 100 different foods to try, 20 of which were deserts :)
Not to mention the best fresh squeezed grapefruit juice ever....
It was quite a treat.
What an amazing place...they literally have everything down to a science...
I love that you walk in and you get the five star treatment. If you have anything that is wrong it will be fixed ASAP...
The rooms are to die for and the service is the BEST!
Practically perfect.
The star ratings speak volumes, nothing less than 5 from any reviewer. I can say the same. The service in this hotel more than delivers they go out of their way to make your experience perfect without being annoying. So much personal attention, other hotels should take notice. When you stay don't forget to notice the beautiful flowers all over the lobby, very nicely done.
If you have the chance to stay at the Four Seasons Chicago I would not pass it up. One of the best hotels ever.
This place is very very nice. I met John Travolta here once....
....more specifically I met him in a movie theater in the lower level of the attached mall at 900 N. Michigan Ave. He had come down to watch a movie after the local/national entertainment press had finished screening it.
Nice guy (autographed the associated movie poster for me).
Nice hotel (great rooms, awesome lobby, unbeatable location).
Not really that plush of a theater, though.
Hmm, I guess I'll take what I can get.
Top notch 1st class service. Extremely cordial staff. Excellent food. CLEAN. Expensive. Great city views, depending on how high you are (floor wise, guys!). A true classic that'll definitely always stay in the running with whatever neo-mod contemporary hotel-condo-green-hybrid project that's built in this city. It's timeless. Love it. Stay here, my dearest outta town tourists...............!!!!
I was here on a business trip. Absolutely attended to my every need.
my room was on the 43rd floor with phenomenal views of the city. i felt like one rich bitch.
oh, and here's a handy tip - if you forget your phone charger, at home just get one from the front desk and have them charge your phone for you. that's the service you pay for when you're shelling out beaucoup bucks on a swank hotel room
I gave the Four Seasons one star because I had to, but if I had the choice I would give it a much lower rating. I went to the spa for a facial and a brow wax and they completely destroyed my face! I payed 130$ for a purifying facial and they didn't do extractions or exfoliate at all! They only slopped on some cream a did a weak massage. I warned the esthetician that I was prone to ingrown hairs before she did my brow wax, yet she did the waxing before the facial, knowing that she wasn't going to exfoliate my face. I can honestly say that the next day , my face was just one giant ingrown hair. I must have had at least 25 of them. When I called them and told them what happened, they basically said "tough luck". You would expect better service from a five star hotel with a reputation like the Four Seasons. I will NEVER go back.
i love the four seasons. i've stayed here on a few special occasions and have always had impeccable service and lovely rooms.
i especially like the lobby here - it's a great place to see even if you aren't staying here and is just an elevator ride away if you are shopping at the stores in 900 North. The bar and restaurant are also fantastic.
Fantastic hotel and wonderful amenities and staff. Probably the best hotel in Chicago for kids. Everynight they turned down the kids beds and left them with board games and a little "treat"
