Luxury at its best. This hotel proves the importance of first impressions and hospitality. We experienced nothing but absolute professionalism and kindness from the doormen, the hostess, the waiters and the front desk.
We enjoyed crab chowder on Thursday and crab cake benedicts at brunch on Sunday. Everything was delicious and everyone was wonderful. It'd be nice to stay there some time. If their restaurant is this nice I'd like to see what their rooms are like.
We usually stay at the Ritz when in Boston but for some reason it did not happen this time around.
So we wound up at the Four Seasons....
Very nice Hotel with super employees doing what they can to please.
I think we stayed in what is called an executive suite. A very nicely appointed room and quite comfortable.
So now we have two winners when in Boston, yippie ;-{)
Really, I can't say enough fantastic things about this place. My husband and I got married in a suite at the hotel and then had brunch with a small group of family and friends at Aujourd'hui in their private dining room. We started working with the hotel about six months before our wedding and the entire staff went above and beyond to make our wedding great. I highly recommend the hotel for any type of wedding or celebration.
I seriously am looking forward to going back for our first anniversary - this place is really special. Also, the Sunday brunch is superb.
Beautiful and wonderful service. Went to a wedding this past weekend here and it was spectacular!
My boyfriend and I were absolutely boiling walking around town this past Sunday, and decided to pop into the tea room to cool off and refuel. Our server was just wonderful, unpretentious, efficient. I ordered tea and scones. My mom makes a fortune on her baking business, and the warm cranberry scones they served rivaled hers. Add a touch of lemon curd, clotted cream, or strawberry jam, and I'm in heaven!
My boyfriend ate a whole bowl of rosemary fries with garlic aioli, and barely talked to me he was so engrossed.
For the experience and the quality, I thought we underpaid.
One of my favorite urban FS locations in the US, after NY.
I've been coming here forever, for drinks, meeting up with friends, even job interviews... amazing, since I have never lived in Boston. But for the first time last week, I got to stay here, and it was a terrific experience.
The hotel has an understated facade but inside the interior is quite classic. The layout of the rooms are exactly like any Four Seasons hotel. Even where they place the amenities are the same... Although this hotel is probably one of the older Four Seasons, everything inside is fresh and new... which makes sense, since they recently went through a three-year renovation.
I love the fact that you can look out into the Public Garden... as well as the accessibility to major shopping streets such as Boylston and Newbury. The gym is also quite nice too. I didn't get a chance to swim at the indoor pool but it was beautiful and overlooks the gardens. FS Boston is an ultimate urban chic living experience!
Its a hotel, not a palace. For $495 per night, you would think the room would blow your mind. Not at all. There is a level of service that makes me uncomfortable and this is it. I'm all for being polite and professional but c'mon; I'm just an average guy on a business trip, not the second coming of who knows what.
You have to hand it to them though...everything is pristine and everyone well taken care of. For that price, shouldn't it be though?
Piano, annd great atmosphere. Management is fantastic, the waitstaff is excellent, however; the barstaff is consistantly marginal.
So I agree with part of Matt T.'s review below. For the price, you really do expect the room to be fabulous, and fabulous is not a descriptor I'd use to describe our room at the Four Seasons. Our stay started off great with an early check-in and a room upgrade to a larger suite because it was my birthday. But when we got to the room, everything - from the decorations to the carpet - was a total fail. Instead of being grand and glamorous, the room just looked like it needed a really thorough steam cleaning. It did have a gorgeous view of the gardens across the street, but the view had been requested upon booking and it couldn't make up for the dated and stale feel of our room.
We did experience excellent service here, though. In addition to the free upgrade, room service was prompt and the food was tasty. Restaurant reservations were easily changed (three times) for us. When we checked out, everyone was pleasant and accommodating.
Ultimately, the Four Seasons Boston is a hotel in need of a major renovation. Only then will the rooms be congruent with the prices. The location is perfect, right across from the Boston Public Gardens, and within walking distance to the cute Beacon Hill neighborhood and lots of shops and restaurants. My suggestion is that if you have a special occasion in Boston that perhaps you skip the Four Seasons and spend an absurd amount on a room at one of the several other luxury hotels nearby.
I'm going to have to give this review with the disclaimer that I was only here for an event, not an overnight...although it could've very easily turned into an overnight.
We climbed aboard our yellow chariot (coach) and snickered back and forth while "White Christmas" forced it's way from the speakers into my ear holes. I despise Christmas music. I'm not trying to be a grinch, but for me, Christmas is made out to be too much. I'm in the holiday spirit for maybe the 3 days surrounding the actual holiday, so pretty much I want those inflatable roof santas and Mariah Carey's "Santa Baby" out of my life.
We arrive to the hotel, ascend the stairs and our coats are checked in by a swarm of frenzied Chinese women. We have about 1,300 employees between our Boston and Marlborough offices, so you can imagine the crowd. We start to check out the rooms, tables lined with carving stations, mini burgers, and lobster rolls. Another room was entirely Asian inspired with loads of sushi and shumai. One of the more confusing rooms looked like the cover of a Delia*s catalog, circa 1999. Come on, you all shopped there. Neon daisies and pink backlighting. But lo! This was the dessert room! We eventually made it to the dance floor, cuz I mean, who doesn't want to see their boss getting his freak on to GOTMELOOOKINSOCRAZYMYBABYIMNOTMYSELLLLFLATELYIMFOO LISH, I DON'T DO THIS!
Room upon room of food, people mingling, dancing.....a girl can start feeling claustrophobic. A trip to the bathroom is needed. What is this? It's half the size of my apartment! Big floppy salmon couch? Sure, I'll put my feet up for a bit. I sort of wanted to just die there, but then again, after 7 Kir Royales who doesn't. We then decided to take a trip in the elevator to explore the building. 8th floor, pool and fitness center. Well done, looked clean and pristine. I just wanted to stick my toe in, why won't you let me in?
The Four Seasons is the third hotel i visited while in Boston. Now the Four Season runs a strong second to Boston Harbor At Rowes Wharf.
I had a blast the staff and our hostess(s) were really great. The hotel is nice updated with plasma tv and bose/bang and olufsen stereos.
The pool and jacuzzi area are just what the doctor ordered. You can relax in the jacuzzi or take a lap in the pool while at the same time enjoying a view of The Public Garden.
The chef is outstanding ! I had chicken stuffed with spinach, mushroom and cheese it was DELICIOUS ! My appetizer was the Boston Seafood Trio which consisted of shrimp cocktail, crab meat wrapped in avocado and oyster tempura it was presented so beautifully I didn't want to eat it so I took a picture of it.
I would definitely recommend the Four Seasons it is a stones throw away from Newbury Street the staff is freindly and the chef is the bomb!
I also enjoyed my parting gifts which consisted of a very nice and comfy Four Seasons Bath Robe, chocolates and L' Occitane bath products.
I cannot tell you anything about the rooms cos I have never stayed here, however there is a pool with a gym on the 8th floor. I have a light bulb from there. No, I cant explain this. They also give you Bvlgari conditioner and L'Occitane soaps and mositurisers. The 7th floors excatly like the 8th floor excpect no pool or gym. Didnt make stops on any other floor.
Aujourd'hui - After six-Kir Royale, that is champagne with chambord, paced with Lobster ravioli, olives, sushi, pasta,(my body is in a state of shock from the decadence), i have concluded i love this place. Oh and did i mention about the chocolate fountain.
On more sober days, i have also visited their salon downstair for High tea and crumpets with my mom and sisters and that was great too.
I like free things.
And after slaving away over hot excel sheets and other assorted MSOffice all year, I like to be rewarded for my gradual descent into corporate whoredom.
Enter Four Seasons. Stage Left. We had our corporate shindig here all boujie like on the 2nd floor. Boujie boujie boujie -looses meaning-
Us suits were directed upstairs past the pile of dead teddy bears under the Christmas tree to a world of decadence and excess ridden bliss. Festively decorated, and spacious, the Four Seasons was definitely able to accommodate our cast of thousands.
I checked my coat, and had to part ways with Beebop(my Blackberry) after realizing I didn't have any suit pockets....for a minute. Till I got him back. And shoved him in my cleavage(__insert follow up comment in the vein of "that's not the first thing to be shoved in there" yadda yadda here____)
First stop on our journey of anti-social behavior and elitism, my partner in crime and I hit up the Ballroom which was decked out with carving stations, seasoned fries, mini mac n cheeses, etc. It was a bit difficult to eat fork related things with a cocktail in hand, but you betta believe we made do. The ballroom was also the scene of a lengthy discussion with an anon. employee re:penises, and also where Ms. Peacock killed that gai with a wrench.
Onward to the next room featuring a coffee station for DD fegs and a mountain of shrimp cocktail! You shouldn't have! Nom nom nom. Cut to us hording the sea creatures and leaving tail carcasses in our wake. And Chloe talking about shrimp poop shoots.
Nexxxxt! Dessert room(!) Totally out of control, so overwhelmed that I had to grab a Merlot on my way in. This room was randomly girlie with DELIA*S accents, and plastic astericks all up in mah face. And boom goes the dynamite. Lots of cakes and tarts and unknown objects coated in chocolate. At this point it didn't even matter if the garnish was razor blades. I wouldn't have noticed.
-hiccup-.
Aujourd 'hui was converted into our "Sushi and Asian Cuisine" room with a line out the door full of corporate WGWAGs no doubt. The room was a bit hot :'( Stagnant air..a random bell went off several times which I thought was either going to lead to someone announcing the time, or that the hotel was on fire and we were all going to die. Cool(1)
On to the dancing! I was a smart one and steered clear of the slippery dance floor. As much as I wanted to cut a rug with our CFO, I thought it best that I just stand on the sidelines, guzzle some drinkage, and watch the ensuing carnage. I wonder if some people felt regret the next morning. I bet they did. The room itself was beautiful with an interesting crystalline ceiling fixture which Chloe zoned out to for an awkward amount of time. Moth. Flame.
The ladies bathroom had a lounge attached to it, perfect for destroying pointsetta center pieces and chucking them at friends as well as all the room in the world to drunk dial and throw elbows. The napkins swaddled my hands in an absorbant blanket of bliss and enjoyed the surround sound mirrors so I could check out my tushie and make sure I didn't sit in a cream puff. I wouldn't put it past me.
Of course I saw the rest of the hotel! Are you kidding? No one suspects anything of a trio of suits with martinis heading up to the Penthouse! NO BIG.

I wanna run through the halls of my highschool, I wanna scream at the top of mahhh lungs!
There was also a pool up there. And I wanted to dive in. Just like the Four Seasons dove into my heart.
Shanks!
/end scene.
When people ask me if I camp, I say, "My idea of camping is room service at the Four Seasons."
if you must be away from home, this is the place you must be.
The afternoon tea is divine.
Here are some stories. One New Year's Eve, a college friend tried to steal the sugar bowl and the silverware off our dinner table. I had to wrestle them out of her hands. Another time, I was passing by and there was a crowd in front of a limo and it was Bono. Some freak grabbed his head and pushed him.
You too could have adventures here! And tea. Great tea.
Strolling around with my Mother, her Beau, and my Man. We decided to pop on over to the Ritz Carlton for afternoon tea. The congierge took one look at the way we were dressed. Jeans, shorts, and egad!, flip flops!, and announced, "Denims and sandals, are not permitted in the tea lounge.", Phissh! ....We went to the Four Seasons instead. It was spectacular! The service was great and the decor was not too shabby.
So much for puttin' on the Ritz, I'd so much rather enjoy a pot of tea in a relaxed environment. I would definatley stop in for tea service here in the future.
This place deserves 10 stars. I stayed here for 3 nights. The entire time, the food and service was impeccable. Super-friendly staff. Beds are plush and soft. Wonderful if you can get a room overlooking Boston Commons. I've heard wonderful things about the spa/gym but didn't have time to try. Next time!
This breakfast buffet can't be beat!! The best scrambled eggs I've EVER had, an assortment of meats... and omelet station... tons of pastries, fresh squeezed juices, toast/bagle/breads... coffee, tea... everything you could want.
Once you're seated you are treated with top notch service. First class all the way! Total sophistication!
Almost a time warp.
Meh
The Viennese Buffet... It's an extravagant dessert buffet - I totally recommend it, especially if you're a chocolate lover. It's also pricey - but hey, don't eat dinner before hand! I recommend a reservation (9 p.m. to 12 a.m.).
Nicest bathrooms (in their downstairs restaurant) that I have ever seen. EVER. and I have been into quite a few bathrooms in my day.
Four Seasons typically always have the best customer service and this one in Boston is no exception. Service is very professional, polite and accomodating. The rooms are attractively decorated, very clean and spacious. Our conference was held at the hotel and the banquet team satisfied all of our meeting needs. Anytime we needed them, they were there in a heartbeat with a sense urgency, resourcefulness and eagerness to please. Thanks Nick! Last but not least, the food was outstanding. I love this hotel and look forward to returning again.
I had a fantastic stay at the Four Seasons Boston. The staff and service exceeded my expectations. The location is prime.....nearby shopping at Newbury St. Great running routes along the Charles River are just at the hotels doorstep, and walking distance to Boston's financial center. Excellent workout facilities that include a nice pool. The Bar/lounge was a very hip place for drinks. The rooms are very spacious. The amenities in the room were fantastic. The Four Seasons Boston is a very elegant yet cool place to stay.
