3 reviews for Four Points by Sheraton Midtown - Times Square
The closest subway station is the Port Authority Station, and it's only about couple minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel's also within walking distance to many popular destinations like: Time Square(10min), Broadway Shows(10 min), Rockefeller Center(20min), Central Park(25min) and Saks Fifth Avenue(30min). With that said, the immediate neighborhood/street is a bit dark and scary to walk around especially late at night.
The hotel lobby and room was quite small. We've stayed at a double room, and it was around 200sqft, a bit tight for two people, plus there wasn't any space in the bathroom sink for us to put our makeup bags. The hotel has been recently renovated, so everything was relatively new, the bed was comfy, the toiletries were by Fresh, and there was a flat screen TV.
Over all most of the staffs were friendly, with the exception of couple snooty ones at the front desk. And this' the only time where I didn't get neither a room upgrade nor 4pm late checkout as a SPG Gold Member, so was very disappointed.
PS. The easiet and hassle free way to get to/from JFK to the hotel is by Express Bus, which's located outside the airport terminals. You can purchase round trip tickets for $26/pps or $15 one way.
The location isn't great - down a shady street next to PABT and not easily accessible by car. But, the entrance to the subway is right at the end of the street (handy e-train connection to JFK!) and Times Square, Hells Kitchen are walkable. If you can handle the less salubrious immediate vicinity - think of what Times Sq used to be, it's like that - then you'll be fine and it'll turn out to be a great and cheap place to stay midtown.
The room is what you should expect for a four points, except this facility is so new (opened summer 09) that all the fittings feel sparkly and shiny. Not a luxury brand, but comfortable place to stay for a night, at a decent price. I had a double room and it was fine. The staff is great.
Wireless broadband is free and great, but the bandwidth is limited so don't try and use it to VPN or video conference, download big files etc.
The location isn't the best, but it is relatively convenient to multiple subways, as well as to decent restaurant fare on 8th and 9th Avenues. The room itself, while small, is immaculate. And the A/C is awesome! If Hell's Kitchen can ever clean up its act, this place will be moving into four star territory.
