I don't know why people didn't like this hotel, but I thought that it was convenient for travelers. It's really close to the beach and a decent distance from the airport. The shuttle takes you wherever you want to go.
It was only $90/night, and although there are absolutely no suites in the hotel, the rooms are decently sized and very clean.
The bathroom is big and fully renovated as well, using "bliss" amenities, same as the ones used by the "W", one of Starwood's high-end hotels. I was on the SPG floor- it may have not been as good on other floors, especially in the rooms in the basement. So my review may be useful only if you are an Elite SPG member. I was also able to check in more than 12 hours before check-in time!

The staff members here aren't as professional as those in the city, but are friendly.

This is not a low review.  I'll be adding and subtracting stars from this review as I get to know the hotel.

So far, +1 star for this BOMB wireless I'm on.  Yeah, I am still wordsmithing on SF Yelp's Talk threads.  So send out compliments, FUC me, all that good naughty stuff! And +1 star for the SUPER FAST van driver who got us here! YOU ROCK MY CLOCK! (yes, CLOCK!)

But -1 star for having the ENTIRE LOBBY smell like Oatmeal.  What is this, FUCKIN' QUAKER OATS?
TEHEHEHEHE.

+1 Star for giving me extra ice bags in a timely manner.
+1 Star for prompt, efficient maid service.
+1 Star for a working heater/AC system.
-1 Star for charging an exorbitant amount of money for chicken teriyaki...$17.95! Bite me!
-1 Star for making us wait in the lobby for 4 hours.

p.s. - Thank God I won't have to deal with Aunt Flo during this trip.

This "airport" hotel is 15 minutes from the airport, and the area it is in has lot of highways and businesses - definitely nothing to do in the immediate (walkable) area.  But who expects that from an airport hotel?

The shuttle service was fairly prompt (considering the 15 minute drive, the driver left the hotel immediately after I called).  Instead of regularly circling the airport (like the Hyatt and Embassy Suites) you have to call the shuttle for a pickup, so bring the number with you.

The room was large and clean, with a nice desk (and a rollout printer stand - in case I brought my printer?)  Sheets were OK, but definitely not top-notch, slightly scratchy.

The bathroom needs a remodel desperately.  The water control knob was scratched and discolored.  The poor silicone caulking job in the shower was cracking and peeling.  Maybe this room had plumbing problems, because the sheetrock/wallpaper was removed around the pipes under the sink, and the bedroom wallpaper had a large patch adjacent to the bathroom wall.  You can't get the water really hot, but it was definitely warm enough for a good shower.

Less than 20 TV channels was surprising.  Mostly local channels, the news networks, and HBO.  I thought basic cable had 50 channels these days?

Room service was surprisingly reasonable.  French toast came with (great) coffee, high-quality OJ, and bacon for $9.95.  I think that's cheaper than IHOP!  Even with service charges and gratuities added in, the bill was $15.  Note though: the room service menus were out of date.  I expected 'stuffed' french toast with cream cheese and berries, but received regular french toast.  But I called down and they brought me berries (frozen strawberries in syrup??  It's the peak of strawberry season!)  and cream cheese.

I arrived at 11:00 o'clock at night, and the only walkable restaurant in the area was the Pizzeria Uno across the parking lot, which is open until 11:30 or so.

Late checkout was no problem.  Free internet was nice, but very slow compared to my FIOS at home.  Free printing service.

Pro:  Rate was good.  Location is close to restaurants and not far from Boston.  Van will drive you to/from the airport and subway stop (Airport or Wonderland).

Con:  I am a "Preferred Starwood Member", but I did NOT feel like it.  Cold showers, slowwww internet connection.  The first room they put us in we had to walk down 2 flights of stairs and it was in the "old wing".  Ask to stay in the "new wing" if possible.  Had to change rooms because of some issues...  We stayed 6 consecutive nights.

Overall:  We stayed here last week for 1 day and it was a great stay.  But we came back and the experience was quite the opposite!  I might stay here again IF I have too.  But, I have stayed at better Steraton's definitely!

UPDATE:  Lisa (at the front desk) took some action on the hot water issue and had it addressed.  She also gave us 2 passes to breakfast.  She was really nice and proactive.

This hotel is alright.  Being a part of the Sheraton family, I was expecting a rather firm bed.  Not so much at this 4 points.  Our bathroom's vent doesn't work very well either.

I used their gym this morning and it was fucking cold in there.  I gave up trying to adjust the temperature, the thermostat wouldn't budge.  The machines are outdated too.
I feel bad for the person who first reviewed this place. Luckily, we were warned about not leaving anything, and I mean ANYTHING in the car.
