In the words of Kip, "Can I just say... that the Philadelphia Free Library is remarkable!" I never appreciated libraries till I started hole-ing up in this one sometimes. The service is great... which is a lost library science (pun intended). However, it is the selection that boggles the mind.

Sometime during regular business hours, hit the Rare Books section. Philadelphia has amazing artifacts and art back there that aren't even book-related. The books however, will astound you for their age and significance in history.

The art of borrowing books seems lost anymore. This library goes out of their way to make Philadelphians happy... and it's FREE. One of the most beautiful buildings in Philly always has something going on. I urge more people to make use of this resource in our backyard.

And with that, I'll get off my soapbox before I sound like an ABC "You Can Do It" commercial...

"Wait...so you're just gonna let me have this and trust me to bring it back? "  This is my thought every time I get something out of the library.  It always seems too good to be true.  The library is like your most trusting friend...with the biggest DVD and Book collection ever.  My recommendation- - spend a rainy day getting lost in the building and emerge hours later blinded by sun rays laced with knowledge.
