5 reviews for Fortels Pizza Den
Fortel's Pizza Den is a staple in St. Louis when it comes to pizza. The family-owned and operated business is considered one of the better pizzerias in town. And I have to agree with the consensus.
Still, I think it is a little overrated primarily due to the fact that there are several pizza places in St. Louis that I would rank ahead of Fortels. When I search lists of the top pizza places in St. Louis, Fortels is consistently in the top three. Personally, I would rank it a little lower - though it probably deserves a spot in the top five.
When dinning at Fortel's you will experience a friendly atmosphere with hospitable service. The ingredients are fresh and the toppings are plenty. The best part is the mozzarella cheese, which is rare for St. Louis-style pizza. The crust is slightly thicker than most as well. With a bounteous amount of cheese and toppings, most will be satisfied.
Overall, I would recommend Fortel's Pizza Den. But remember that there are several better places to get a pie.
Two words: Cheese Coma.
If you're still here, and you like thin crust pizza with extra cheese, generous toppings, and inventive combinations, this family owned pizza parlor is one of the better ones in the STL.
I've always thought that this pizza was decent. It's not my favorite, but I've never been disliked it, either, I had a few friends who worked here in high school, so I've had my fair share of pizza from here!
Their veggie and supreme pizzas are awesome. They do a great job cramming a ton of toppings on. They also have great toasted ravs.
Mostly, I just love that this is a locally-run, family-owned joint. I don't think that it has decreased in quality in recent years.
Fortels was great when Bob was alive (the owner died a few years back) and we would go there all the time but now they are huge and seem to care less about the pizza and more about bringing in the dough.
Don't get me wrong, it's still good... just not great like it was
Fantastic thin crust style pizza, fresh toppings and spicy tomato sauce. Very friendly atmousphere and few video games to play while waiting for your pie.
