Fort Washington Beach Park
1 review for Fort Washington Beach Park
A private beach on the San Juaquin River? Yes, well practically. This "beach" is situated next door to the Sportsmen's Club North of Woodward Park off Friant and Lakeview.
Don't be intimidated by the trailer at the entrance there is a reason it's not a permanent structure which I will explain later. Pay $3 per person and you drive down through the park setting to the shore line. You can set up your camp or picnic site anywhere you like, bring your hibachi and catch fish in the river and grill it just feet from the shore. I have never seen more than one other party using the park when we are there.
The reason for the trailer and other temporary structures on the site is due to the unpredictability of the river flow. For the last two years heavy rains required the Friant Dam operators to release more water than normal. The water flooded the grounds almost up to the entrance. Once the water recedes the property bounces back to normal quickly.
If you want a near private experience on the banks of the San Juaguin, close to town, this is the place. I almost hesitated reviewing it because if more people knew about it the peace experienced there could be interrupted. I'm sure the owners would appreciate the added business!
