I came here on the recommendation from a friend.  Although my friend is a major foodie, i wasn't expecting too much given that this place was so affordable.

I started with the pork belly as my starter and had the stripped bass as my entree.  The pork belly was braised and therefore a bit stringy but the flavors compensated.  The bass was amazing, cooked perfectly and soaked in a bacon dressing.  The bacon helped give the fish a more smokey taste.  My girlfriend had the beets and the duck.  The beets were awesome!  Very colorful and the goat cheese and walnuts were perfect complements.  The duck was very tender and juicy.  Overall I was pleasantly surprised that this place was so good.  If there is any complaint is that I feel like I had these at other restaurants and they lack creativity.  No doubt they do a very good job with their dishes, however.

The lamb loin was the best I ever tasted, $33.00; it was thick and juicy (medium grilled). My date had difficulty discerning it from a prime steak.

For the appetizer we shared the sampler platter $21.00. I was disappointed with the amount of food provided.

Our table was a tight fit. I recall a few times as my waiter served the neighboring table, I would be forced to view his back side for a time. They need to loose on the tables along the wall to be comfortable.

Our bill for two people was $112.00 plus a tip for one beer two cocktails and food. Expensive sure, but the wait staff were attentive, food was fantastic and ambiance was romantic. Great 5th date spot.

I've been here twice, with about 4 years in between.

The first time I went I remember loving my entree. I think it was some sort of salmon, shiitake, pasta thing.

The last time I went I was there for Restaurant Week, so I know that they were pumping out a lot of the same entrees over and over again. I got the short ribs. I didn't love them. They were pretty fatty. My friend got the salmon and again, it was good.

I also got a lemongrass lemonade, which was good, but not particularly lemongrass-y.

I guess if you want a good piece of salmon, Fork is your place.

Went the other night, so happy we did.  I have not been there in a couple of years and now I've decided that will be too long in between visits.  The food took over most every other sense I could have.  Our service was pretty weak and our table was not choice, but I made my reservation late so the table was expected, the service was not.  I did not even care, every aspect of the dishes we ate were perfect  and balanced to me.  Soup was  butternut squashbut instead of going the common place way most chefs do by making it with pumpkin pie type spices or creme fraihce in an attempt to lighten it or something, I enjoyed the great combination of a grilled shrimp-slightly charred and placed in the perfectly seasoned soup.  Warm and homey without making me feel as if that is all I should of ordered.  Wild mushroom en croute was great and had a small pickled mushroon salad on the plate, very tasty. I had the smoked duck which was prefectly smoked ever so  lightly, not to disrupt the harmony of the meat and fat. of the breast.  There were roasted figs as well, excellent  The scallops were again, cooked perfectly and in a delicious broth and of course it went perfectly with the scallops.  The coconut/pomegranate sorbet had great balance-sweetness of cocunut and tartness of the pomegranate with excellent texture.  The apple tart-most pedestrian, I know-had a delicious vanilla ice cream scoop, I with it had 7 scoops, was cooked to perfection and the balance of ice cream to apples to crust as excellent.
Please know the entire experience for me was amazing because of the food, nothing else mattered but that and the girl I was with.

I was here recently for an event that had a fixed menu -- so maybe my "meh" reaction should be taken with a grain of salt.  The appetizers were so-so, kind of lacking in flavor.  The dessert I tried, a goat cheese cheesecake, had the opposite problem -- the goat cheese overwhelmed and I could only handle a bite or two (and as a dessert/cheesecake enthusiast, this disappointed me immensely).  My entree was the exception -- I had halibut that was incredibly prepared served over some sort of tomato/ratatouille type thing.  The ambiance was quite nice, too.

So the bottom line, I suppose, is to come here for entrees and ambiance, and skip the appetizers and dessert.

While the mix of Asian decor, Latin music, and Americana food was a bit off-putting at first, once the food hit to table, there was nothing to complain about (except maybe the single bread roll - come on I'm a carb gal!). The arctic char was just fab and I even enjoyed the caramelized onions (I hate onions - they were just cooked THAT good). They even gave us a free glass of wine pairing because they thought the flavors would complement - so nice of the waiter!

I love this place. It has a cozy, homey vibe and always an interesting menu. My boyfriend and I were excited to find that they serve chicken livers, which are delicious. I also thoroughly enjoyed the butternut squash soup. It's a great spot for dates or business dinners and is perfect for those who want to try something new or for those who simply enjoy American cooking.

I ordered a Bloody Mary.  It was tasty... and it was a good portion for the price... but the glass they used was too small at the mouth.  It left me feeling cramped... and in the end I just didn't enjoy the drink.

This was pretty much how my entire experience went at Fork.  The table wasn't large enough for the dishes.  The chair not large enough for my frame.  My back too close to the guy behind me.

But still - the food was great and the service not bad.  The rolls amazing (I recommend the fruit roll if they have it).  I had the huevos rancheros with a side of grits.  The grits had cheese in them and turned me off... but the rest was pretty good.

Anyway - it was ok... but not good enough that I think I'llbe back any time soon.

Fork is one of the most versatile restaurants in the city. I have been for a casual brunch, dinner with friends/parents, and even hosted my graduation lunch in a private room in the back. I have been very impressed on all occasions. The velvet drapes at the entrance and the white christmas lights all year round give the restaurant a simple, yet elegant charm that matches its delicious food. The dishes are nothing  too crazy, but you are always guaranteed a tasty meal with fresh and local ingredients. A great neighborhood spot worth crossing many neighborhoods to visit!

Fork was our choice for Sunday brunch last weekend, and we came away impressed. The gazpacho was the best I've ever tasted. I highly recommend getting the biscuits and gravy. I don't care for grits, but the grits that came with the biscuits and gravy will turn anybody in to a grit lover. The huevos rancheros was also a very good choice.

I wasn't too impressed with the rolls, and the steak fries were ordinary at best, possibly overcooked. The service was good, but not exceptional. Still, we walked away very satisfied.

I can live here.  The head chef is a female, a little different from the conventional male dominated industry.

So much attention is put into making the food, positioning the food, and the ambiance.  I love the low dim lighting really set me in the mood for a good bottle of wine and a delicious gourmet deal.

Highly recommended.

If I was ever on death row, the creme brulee at Fork would probably make my last meal request (mind you, I don't plan on committing any crimes to get me there, so alas I will be paying the big bucks for this one).

This place was definitely a summer splurge.  My friend and I handed over $120 for dinner & dessert at Fork.  My thick, meaty pork chop looked fresh off the pig and was packed full of flavor. Great service and the atmosphere was comfortable despite the price tag.

The food is delicious but pricey.  I may try "Fork etc.," which is next door, for take-out when I want the good food at a slightly discounted price.

During Equality Forum, a good sized contingent of great friends and new acquaintances went here for dinner on Thursday (Dining Out for Life). Although our party shrank in size from our initial reservation, the staff at Fork was gracious enough to put us in a private room in the back. The light fixtures were out of this world - papyrus paper lined light casings. The back room did have a bit of a board room feel, but it was awesome! At one point in time, it felt like we were at the long table from Kill Bill and we were in anticipation of Lucy Liu running down the center of the table... Alas, no matter how many drinks we had it didn't happen! LOL!
The food was amazing and the service was astounding!

The restaurant itself is modern, with a cool cement bar and warm lighting. I'd recommend a reservation, but walk-ins are offered bar seating with the same menu! I ordered the three-egg omelete, featuring branch creek farm spinach, shitake mushrooms and fontina cheese. The omelet, made from local eggs, was bursting with eggy flavor, while the ingredients sat demurely under their bright orange blanket, subtle and refined. The "home fries" were really young potatoes, boiled and delicately seasoned with fresh herbs, and the beautiful edible pansy added a bright splash of color to the plate. I'd already eaten a crusty, seeded bun before the main plate arrived, so turned out to be almost too much food!

While drink prices are steep, food is very fairly priced, in a convenient location, and locally sourced! I'll be back. Really though, if you're on a tight budget, go anyway. Just skip the drinks and order one item or from the sides menu (pastries, bagels, etc.) ,and enjoy!

My wife and I had a dinner here. The whole meal was forgettable. My steak was lacking salt and pepper (simple flavor people!). It had nice, hearty smoke, bbq aroma to it...*but* when it's lacking salt, it gave me the feeling that they somehow injected the smoke into the steak artificially...which would've been cool if the steak tasted good. Ambiance was nice and my wife thought that I was being a snob about food.

Have been here a few times, and each time it was OK - but not brilliant. Once a burger ordered medium rare came very well done, and then it took about half an hour to get a replacement, almost like I was being punished for sending something back. The owner was sitting at a table right near me, but seemed not to notice our problems getting service, and never came over. Another time someone in my party got an orzo salad that clearly had spoiled - had to be sent back. Other dishes were good but not great. Don't think I would return unless I had to for a business meal. Given all the great restaurants in Philly, there is no reason to settle. Have not been there in the past few weeks, so maybe there has been a turnaround, but it definitely seemed to me like  a place coasting on past glory.

I was absolutely impressed with the service at Fork. I had made reservations to have dinner with a job interview candidate. Only a few hours before the meal, I learned that the candidate was a vegan. Looking over the menu online, I realized that this was not a particularly vegan friendly restaurant. I called the restaurant, and they assured me that they could prepare a vegan meal. When we arrived, all adjustments and accommodations had been made. The interviewee really enjoyed her meal and was even able to have some dairy-free dessert.

I, on the other hand, am a total carnivore, and while they were able to meet the restrictions of the person with whom I was dining, they were also able to provide an excellent meal for me. I had the fig rosemary focaccia to start and the roasted duck for dinner. Both were outstanding. In additional to the last minute accommodation, the service throughout the evening was consistently helpful and polite. Highly recommend Fork.

Full disclosure: I have family in the kitchen here.

I came with my best friend for an indulgent dinner before final exams and to see the aforementioned family member behind the line.  Indulge we did; my jeans didn't quite fit the same after that dinner!  Their house-smoked and cured meats are done very nicely.  Everything tasted fresh and looked great on the plate.  Dessert was heavenly; too many times I've had a great meal, only to follow it with mediocre, slapped-together dessert..not here!  The new chef is doing GREAT things at Fork.

Decor: Relaxed elegance.  There's an intimate bar area up front, a small dining room, and several private dining spaces; something for everyone.

Service: Great!  Our server made helpful recommendations and was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating.  Our courses were perfectly timed.

Food:  Holy God.  Here's what we had:

Drinks: The Tourist - a refreshing cocktail with elderberry liqueur, lemon, and something sparkly.  So summery, so delicious.

Amuse Bouche: Seared salmon with a simple slice of asparagus.  Perfect little bite.

Apps: Roasted beets with goat cheese (can never resist that one); Seared tuna with avocado, jalepeno relish, and lemongrass-cilantro vinaigrette (an AMAZING combination of flavors!!); Chef's selection of tapas (standouts for me were the salmon rillettes and the duck confit; overall a great selection); Bacon-wrapped chicken livers (probably the least subtle of them all, but I LOVE BACON)

We could have stopped eating after that, but no.  We charged ahead to Entrees: I had the pork chop (GIGANTIC and beautifully presented; house-smoked; guy next to me said it was the best pork chop in Philly), my friend had the sea bass (again, beautifully presented; perfectly cooked; accompanying veggies were delish AND adorable..never have I seen baby carrots like these).

And of course, Dessert: Chocolate cream puff (I didn't partake but it looked divine and my friend said it was wonderful); Tapioca pudding with berry gelee (not too sweet, not too starchy, a little tartness from the berries...wow); Creamy yogurt légère with strawberry compote and lemon-thyme shortbread (Server recommendation.  I had no idea what a légère was.  I think it's French for "fluffy cloud of sweet delight.")

I wonder if I went on a bad day? Appetizers were good. Boyfriend got the tapas of meats, which included beef curry cubes that were out-of-this-world. (They alone earned the review an extra star.) I tried the beet salad with goat cheese... eh, ok. My main disappointment was my entree--a bland fish-in-an-envelope. Then left before dessert. Oh, and had a funk wine recommendation, but they were gracious about taking it back.

Again, so many great reviews... I would be willing to try this place again, but will most likely stay away from the fish.

Came here for Restaurant Week and was thoroughly impressed with the appetizer I got-- seared chicken livers. It's not for many people, so if you're expecting to magically like chicken liver after this, nuh uh, it probably won't work.

I actually traded appetizers with my husband, since I ordered my entree from the Restaurant Week menu and he opted out. He had the pork belly appetizer, which was good but was a tad dry.

The entree wasn't that wonderful, sadly. In an effort to feel better about Le Bec Fin's lackluster salmon confit, I ordered the "grilled grape leaf wrapped salmon." I like my salmon moist, so I ordered it medium rare, but it was just a touch too dry. That Vietnamese chili sauce definitely saved it, although it was a little more tangy than spicy.

The mascarpone cheesecake for dinner was pretty standard. It was a little rich for my taste buds, but it was good.

I gave this place 3 stars because the decor and feel of the place really irked me. When we arrived, we accidentally walked into Fork Etc, not the real restaurant. We were shown the back way into the restaurant, which resulted in us standing 6 deep with another group in a narrow aisle...with servers pushing past and the hostess going back and forth. Why they didn't show us to the larger waiting area a few steps away is beyond me.

Also, the theme of the night seemed to be "bang your dishes around such that your patrons jump every few minutes." We were next to the bar, and I swear to God the bartender and servers SLAMMED their dishes and glasses around. I kept jumping and did not appreciate that AT ALL. To top it off, our waitress hit my water glass pretty hard when she set my plate down (BANG). And then, when she picked up my plate, she hit it again! What on earth??

I think I would have had a more enjoyable time if I weren't so stressed about dishes clattering around. Imagine trying to have a nice dinner with your spouse and jumping and looking around every few minutes!

I googled for the best brunch in Philadelphia and Fork was one of the top hits.  I called immediately to make a reservation for brunch.  Two weeks ago, I had a wonderful meal.

First and foremost, the coffee was punch-you-in-the-face strong.  Always the mark of a great restaurant, in my book at least.  Everything on the menu sounded so tasty, I had difficulty picking my meal.  I finally decided upon the house smoked salmon (bagel and lox basically) and I'm so happy that I did.  A toasty bagel, chive cream cheese, capers, radish, tomato, red onion, and fresh smoked salmon.  So awesome.  I ate every last crumb.  It was the perfect portion too.  I wasn't too full or unsatisfied.  My friends ordered the french toast with a berry compote and the omelette with shrimp, leeks, and mascarpone.  Both looked awesome.

I would have loved if they had bottomless mimosas or bloody marys, which is a popular Baltimore brunch option, but alas, such is not the case.

Service was excellent, though a bit slow at times.  It did become quite busy, so it was understandable.  The decor was beautiful.  Lots of green plants.  Black and muted yellows stand out in my mind too.  Very nice.  Overall, a great experience that I would highly recommend.  Would love to go back for another meal, or just for coffee and the paper.

This was our last meal and Philly before catching our flight and was the perfect way to end our trip.  The restaurant is very intimate and has a great buzz.  Right out of the gate, they pushed a "brunch cocktail" on us, which always serves to win me over.  Fork has a great selection of house cocktails.....so enticing, in fact, that we decided to give a couple of them a try.  We both agreed that neither of the drinks was too sweet or sugary.......both were perfectly blended and not too overpowering....they were so good, in fact, that a second round quickly followed.

There were a lot of good food choices.  The breakfast burrito ended up being the choice for both of us and I'm glad, because if we wouldn't have both ordered it, I would have had to share.  Needless to say, there were a lot of enticing choices on the menu.  The next time I am in Philadelphia, Fork will be on my list for another meal.

First of all this neighborhood is fabulous in an earthy sort of way. The restaurant has a beautiful decor that is welcoming and casual. Our server was way nice and cute in a Michael Cera kinda way. Not as punctual on my second drink as I'd liked but nice. And speaking of drinks, I gave up drinking cosmos a long time ago but on this occasion I decided to reminisce the old days and try one of there fun specialty cocktails, the Fork Cosmopolitan. It wasn't too sweet and it went down smoothly and quickly....maybe I shouldn't have been to impatient with my second drink?

I had the burrito, it was yummy and plentiful. After satisfying our bellies we were ready to get out of there only because we sat next to chatty Cathy who did not let her lunch buddy peep a word the entire hour we were there. Great place to brunch!

Disappointing!  I went for the first time with a party of 3 for brunch this past Sunday at around 11 am.  There's no sign on the exterior so it's a little hard to spot.  The space itself is beautifully decorated inside, with super-plush and comfortable seating.

THE GOOD:
The French toast looked delightful and tasted pretty good too, based on the bite I sampled.  The grits were AMAZING.  The blood orange iced tea was pretty creative.  The chocolate chip coffee cake was moist and springy, and served in a very generous slice.

THE NOT-SO-GOOD:
I had the crab meat omelet with green onions and mascapone, and was thoroughly unimpressed.  I love crab, but I could have made the exact same thing with a can of crab meat, some eggs, and a few stalks of green onion.  The mascapone seemed non-existent.

My other dining companion had the turkey sandwich, and it was similarly uninspired.  Cold and dull.  You can get a better sandwich from the Last Drop or Whole Foods.

Maybe the two of us just made poor choices (the steak salad at the next table over smelled quite tantalizing) but I was disappointed that two of our three entrees were duds.  For $20+ a person, brunch shouldn't be boring.

The last straw that knocked this from a 3-star to a 2-star review: we sat around for another 15 minutes or so after we had paid the check (someone brought up politics and the financial crisis, sigh) and we were asked to move because some regular guests had arrived and we were occupying "their" table, so we were told.  It wasn't because the restaurant was crowded, they just wanted our specific table.  So we left.

Underwhelmed

I recently had the opportunity to go to Fork for a family dinner and I was underwhelmed. Ive been there in the past for drinks & appetizers and we really enjoyed ourselves; the atmosphere, service and food were excellent. Maybe my most recent experience was due to unrealistic expectations, but I don't think so. In fact, every member of our group was equally disappointed.

Briefly, the atmosphere and service were very good, but the food just came up short. We had a variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts (not to mention a couple bottles of wine) to form our opinion. The Broiled Sea Bass (entree) and Bittersweet Chocolate Mousse Cake (dessert) were standouts; but most of the other items were considered fair at best. They included Grilled Bacon-Wrapped Chicken Livers (app), Braised Pork Belly (app), Seared Duck Breast (entree), Bread Pudding (dessert). I wont get into the gory details, but they just weren't all that great; I was expecting more, and at $50 (not including wine) I don't think that my expectations are off base.

What do you think?

If you asked what I thought this place right after my first meal, I'd have grabbed you and yelled "4 to 5 stars, BRAVO!" Looking back on that meal, as well as the other times I returned for dinner, I've mellowed and now believe that Fork's food is simply good, not amazing. (Exception, the luscious scallops.) Food aside, this venue has a sexy vibe, perfect for a romantic rendezvous.

Service (Torie and others) has always been stellar, the times I've been there. As a test, my friend chugged a whole glass of water, and the waiter came by moments later to refill it. He chugged no more. Speaking of quaffing, I had an excellent Pinot Blanc Alsace here.

Besides prices begging for expense accounts and randomly bland dishes (their ribs are mediocre), their bread isn't always warm when it comes out. That's a shame, as their bread (last I checked) is baked at Fork: etc. next door. Fork delivers a mixed bag but is worth at least a try.

Fork was EXCELLENT!  I ordered the sea scallops and they were the perfect texture.  If I had to complain about something it's that the sauce perhaps got a little watery toward the end, but the scallops were so delicious that it was no big deal.  I also had the brussel sprout salad which was flavorful and fresh.  The cocktails and desserts were also excellent.  I will definitely be back.

Reminiscent of San Franciscan twists on food. Like, it's stuff you'll recognize, but shown in a whole new light. I went for dinner and had an awesome chicken with couscous and some crazy moroccan spices. The couscous had raisins, kalamata olives, and pine nuts to mix that shiznat up...pretty neat, right? Dessert is cool since you can mix and match a bunch of them and make a sampler...great for indecisive types like me.

Decor is chill and candlelit, you could very easily make this a date place, but you could also head out with a friend and it wouldn't be that weird. Pretty standard bar...nothing revolutionary from a cocktails perspective, but they do have a fair number of wines. Service was OK - attentive enough, but not overly helpful with meal selections.

Brunch here is the real showstopper.  (Not really a 4 star for other meals).  The food is American-ish with a twist.  I enjoyed the bread basket offerings - they were really fresh and tasty.  Nice alcoholic drinks, too.  Pricey - but very genteel and worth it.  Gorgeous decor and professional service.  CROWDED for brunch - but worth it.

Make a reservation.

I Love Fork!

I have been here on several occasions, and have never been disappointed. Upon my suggestion, my company hosted our holiday party  (30 guests) and everyone enjoyed it. Ellen was super accommodating, and has been kind and friendly ever since. More recently, they had a Prie Fix Menu for Valentines Day - The Lobster was out of this world!!! (& that is coming from  New England Girl through and through). I am way overdue for a visit, and hope to remedy that this week. A Word of Warning, this is not the place to go if Economy is your foremost concern. It is a little pricey, But totally worth it.

Favorite Drink: The Whippit, the only thing like it in the City; Absolutely Delicious.

For a mind blowing price, I expect a mind blowing experience.  Fork doesn't blow, but it doesn't blow my mind either.  Sure, there's an element of lameness in giving a mediocre review to a place surrounded by as much hype as Fork is, but what kind of person would I be if I failed to deliver the truth & nothing but the truth?  You know you want it.

Major points for decor, of course.  Totally romantic lighting & warm vibe overall.  As nice as the main area is, though, the private room in the back trumps all.  You can have it if you have a party of 15+.  Buuuuut the waitstaff are nothing to write home about.  Exceptional service is what makes a four (or five in Yelpland) star restaurant--awesome decor & food aren't enough, and Fork does not have exceptional service.  It's a bit more than mediocre, & that's all, & that surprised me.

Like the entire dining experience, my meal contained both lovely and wack elements.  Allow me to explain.  Tapas: Meatballs, calamari, pickle thingies, smoked salmon, & fish sticks -- all in glammed up form.  Despite the glam, nothing makes the mouth water.  Entree: Broccoli rabe, salmon, shitake mushrooms, and jasmine rice.  Rice, why were you somewhat crunchy?  Rabe, you can be a bit bitter, but not to the point of verging on icky.  Dessert: Lavender-strawberry shortcake.  Translation: A brick of biscuit next to a scoop of gelato next to whipped cream next to strawberries that appeared to come out of a can.

Overall, if you're willing to drop this kind of money on a meal, I'd say take your wallet to a place that's really exceptional, either service-wise or food-wise.  Fork isn't it.

Sorry to bring down the rating, but I suppose my date and I just came on the wrong night/ordered the wrong thing.

We came when it first opened (before Fork etc. and all the awards). I couldn't find anything that seemed good on the menu, so had to go with the organic chicken, which was obviously nothing great.

The appetizer (artichoke blossom) was pretty good with the goat cheese, but when we asked the server what the hell artichoke blossom was, it was a bit condescending. Apparently Fork is TC (too cool).

I'm still amazed this place does well, but I've never returned after that first meal. The place looks great, but there are tons of other options out there for me.

So I had dinner at Porcini with a friend on Saturday and it was soo good. Then she went to Fork last night for Restaurant Week. I asked her how it was and we had this conversation:

[me] : How was Fork?
[friend] Good. YUMMM
Although I liked Porcini better.
[me]: Just curious, what made Procini better?
...to be honest, I'm not that fond of their seating layout and lighting in fork, and that's a big part of restaurant eating. But the food has always been pretty good. though, now that I think about it, only one in three meals there has been amazing..
[friend]: yeah, the service was just okay.  the food was good but not as good as porcini.  the dessert one of the girls got was burned.
[friend]: also the decor was weird.  it looked like a west elm catalog.
[me]: exactly
[me]: the look and feel doesn't do it for me
[friend]: they had jazz and foreign music playing....like are you a lounge or a restaurant. the theme was just all over the place.
[friend]: porcini had better all around food and service. the seating blows, but the servers were great so it made up for it.
[friend]: and the I can get a good chili rellino for $5.00 in s. Philly. I don't have to go to olde city and pay $30 for that experience, thank you very much.
[me]: service: last time I went she purred water in my wine glass. I wasn't upset cuz it was almost gone so I got a free glass of wine, but it still shows inattentiveness
[me]: but that's the thing, I feel more comfortable sitting in porcini than in fork
[friend]: me too.
[friend]: it's homier.
[friend]: less stuffy.
[me]: yea
[me]: I feel like I'm on display in fork
[friend]: totally.
[me]: ok, this conversation alone knocked a star off of my rating of fork; only because I know I'm not alone
[me]: ...but I will say, the stuffed tomato I had last time I was there was AMAZING
[me]: ...but I can't use caps to describe any other times
[friend]: [another friend] and [wife] went too and they sat them at this table right in the waiting area and they were freezing. [other friend] had to eat w/ his coat on.
[friend]: food is good but overprice and the service and ambience leaves something to be desired.
[me]: aww, that's sad
[me]: agreed

Note: if I could, I would give it 3.5 stars.

I had a really excellent dinner at Fork. The striped bass I ate was absolutely one of the best whole fish I've ever had served to me in a restaurant. It was seasoned to perfection and the whole presentation was right on the money.

My friends seemed to enjoy their meals as well, one of them had salmon (which she REALLY liked), the other had steak (although I can't recall which one). The salmon was excellent, but the steak dish was pretty boring.

Our desserts were pretty good, but not amazing. We had the lavender strawberry shortcake, which was good, but nothing more special than any other strawberry shortcake, and an Earl Grey creme brulee which was very good. Then again, of course it was. It's freaking creme brulee.

The service was pretty solid overall, although we did end up pouring our own wine a couple of times, which I don't honestly give a crap about, but it's worth noting in case you do.

The atmosphere was great. Dark, cozy, romantic. You know the drill.

All in all, I'd go back to Fork again. It's a little pricey, but I've paid more for less.

A solid American-contemporary restaurant that will go into my "I don't know where to go--what are you in the mood for?" fall-back category.

Nice ambiance, nice cocktails, fun appetizer selections (we had tapas offerings), good service, yummy entrees.  Nothing spectacular (hence 4 stars) but all were delicious.  Wait, I take that back, my drink was phenomenal--vodka, grapefruit juice, mint and something else that made it sooooo smooth and fantasmagoric in my mouth.

The last time I was at Fork I was lucky enough to go with a large enough party that we were seated in one of their spacious back rooms...otherwise, the dining room is a little too "cozy" for me, but I do love the space. The backroom was great as we were a group of friends from college & significant others all catching up after not seeing each other for months, so we were pretty loud & obnoxious, so the back room was perfect.

the service at fork is friendly and the food is tasty...although its on the pricier side. I love their Sunday champagne breakfast and am not afraid to admit that I have spent an entire afternoon here sipping mimosa's and wasting an entire day just eating and drinking.

Great for groups!

Just came here for restaurant week and would definitely like to come back to try some things from the full menu.  I had a small beet and ruby red grapefruit salad to start, which was delicious, followed by a huge portion of short ribs.  The desserts were the highlight in my opinion (and I'm not usually crazy for dessert).  The key lime pie was particularly yummy.
