I had a really comfortable stay here with my parents and my sister on our grand tour of the USA in May.

After some hard travelling and long drives in the car, I had chosen Forest Suites Resort for a touch of luxury. We were in a 2 bedroom suite, which had 2 large bedrooms with king beds and a big living room area and kitchen. We were able to chill out in our room and relax in a bit of space which was nice.

The staff at the front desk were very efficient, friendly and very helpful with local information ranging from booking our helicopter flight over the lake to advising us where the best free beach was.

The location couldn't have been better for the main downtown area near the casinos. It was a short walk to the Heavenly gondola and the nearby restaurants and shops. The casinos were 5 minutes away. My sister and I were able to walk back at midnight from the local cinema.Safeway was a short walk away to buy food

There was a computer with free internet access for guest use. A complementary continental breakfast was served every morning and I especially enjoyed the fruit on offer there. There's also a small gym for those need to pump that iron!

2 small black marks. Both outdoor hot tubs were broken and not fixed while we were there. Also, guests at this hotel were supposed to be able to access a private beach for free but when we were there, they couldn't get us a pass.

Otherwise a lovely well located resort with good service

This is a great place to stay!  It's close to the Heavenly Village and the casinos.  Both are in walking distance.  You can also drive to a nearby shopping complex where there is a Raley's, Starbucks, nail salon and fun shops.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite and it was very spacious!  I loved having a full kitchen, living room and dining room.  The bathroom was big too which was nice for our group of girls when we were getting ready.  Things are a bit outdated, but we didn't mind.

There was a king bed and a pull out bed in the couch...  We also brought a blow up mattress so we could sleep more people.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful!  AND the breakfast in the morning was great!

When splitting the room with a big group the price was great!

Me and my group of crazy friends stayed here for the 4th of July. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite and it was great. Having the full kitchen really cut down on my gross spending up there. I could booze up, fuel up, and walk right through Harrah's parking lot to get back in the action. We paid $800 for 8 people and it worked out great. 2 girls had to share my king bed but I managed.

The place was great, the staff was great, the room was great, the location was great. Did I mention it was 2 guys and 5 girls? Did I mention that there is no way for me to have a bad time in Tahoe?

Too much sin up there not to have a blast.

really 3.5, but cant quite call this a 4 star place overall.

Stayed here with the family and one of my daughter's friend over labor day.  We had the 2 BR, 2 BA suite.  Giving it a single rating doesnt really doesnt give a clear picture, so here it goes:

location:  5 stars, cant beat it

room size: 5 stars.  This suite could very comfortably sleep 6 or 7

parking: 5 stars.  Free, and not an issue for us even over Labor Day weekend

pool and hot tub: 4 stars

free breakfast: 3 stars

cleanliness of room: 3 stars

Condition of rooms: 2 stars.  While clean, these rooms seriously need to be updated.  Looks like last renovation must have been more than 10 years ago.  I was expecting a rotary telephone.  Carpets worn out.  bathrooms worn out, no dishwasher or toaster in kitchen, etc .  Windows are the classic single pane, aluminum windows that were used in the original construction (maybe 30 years ago?)

Hotel layout: 2 stars. These are built as seperate buildings surrounding a pool area.  If you dont like noise, you may have an issue here.  Annoying guests can bother the entire complex.  Didnt bother us too much as we were away from the pool and the patio area where some of the drunken cougarettes were lying in wait for their prey.  I pity anyone who was closer to their room though.

I enjoy this place. It has a great location, the staff is friendly, the suites are clean. My friends and I have been coming here for our Tahoe trip for a few years now.

The suites are not the newest or the fanciest, but it does the job well. We've never really had problems with anything in our rooms. The towels are a little thin and scratch, but I personally don't care.

Our favorite thing about this place is the location. It is just behind the Heavenly Village and gondolas, we never have problems checking in, parking, or with neighbors. Once we get here, we park and walk to the village, gondolas, casinos, and food. There is also a market (Raley's) and a Blockbuster next door if you need other stuff.

3.5 stars when you factor in service.

Great location (behind Heavenly Village and gondolas) if you want to skiing/snowboarding, restaurants, shopping and casinos. Suites are clean. Don't expect Ritz-Carlton amenities! But far better than Motel 6, Super 8 or National 9 quality. I'd definitely book again... unless you want a North Shore place (less commercial and more natural).

Towels & other soft goods (pillows, blankets, etc.) are a little thin, but I didn't pay for Egyptian or pima cotton. Hot tub looked inviting -- even if it was outside! I really liked the lobby. Bonus for free Wi-Fi and hot coffee throughout the day.

The staff -- from group sales to front desk to breakfast room -- is friendly. We also enjoyed meeting the facility team member who remodeled the meeting room we used; the space was new and ideal for our 20+ person group. My friends and I especially liked having a kitchen in the 2-bedroom suite. Plenty of parking space too. Relatively quiet quarters except for the two drunk guys that came home at 4 am!

Just got back from a 2-night stay here -- we even stayed in the exact same room as last time!
This is a really great hotel. All the furniture was updated and new and clean, and the kitchen was great. The hotel is a 3-minute walk from the casinos and a 1-minute walk to the gondolas. The beds are super soft and comfy. Amazing.
They have free wi-fi AND a free computer in the lobby you can use. They brought a DVD player to our room for free and when my mom told the guy it was our second visit here, he gave her a complimentary bottle of wine, and said, "thanks for coming back!"
The breakfast is great, too.
I think it's time to hit the thesaurus now and find some better synonyms for "great" and "amazing."

I came across Forest Suites when I was browsing the net for a non-cheesy wedding chapel in the area. I started planning my big day remotely and sight unseen based on what I could see via their website. From the very first message that I sent to the wedding coordinator, Alesha, to our actual first visit to the Hotel a few weeks ago, I have been impressed. The staff at Forest Suites are prompt, courteous, and completely hospitable. During our stay just to check out the hotel pre-wedding, we were upgraded to a 2 bd suite, given a bottle of wine on our arrival, and various other perks. I am sure that some of this had to do with the fact that we had already booked our wedding with them, but the small things were above and beyond what I had expected. The location is lovely, away from the busy street and nicely tucked against the forest, yet right next to Heavenly Village and within a few minutes of everything you would come to SLT to see and do. The rooms are in need of a bit of TLC, thus my 4 star review, but I imagine with all the wet snow and heavy traffic during ski season that the rooms get worn down pretty quickly. I am definitely looking forward to having my wedding there in November, and will post more details on everything from the reception to the service to our stay in the 1200 sq ft Presidential Suite. As of right now, I would recommend this place for sure.

We've stayed twice and you couldn't be in a better location than this for the price. It's reasonable and you are steps away from the Heavenly gondola. It's dated in terms of appliances, decor and countertops, but you're not paying for luxury here. It's also right across the street from the Raley's! There's also hot tubs that I saw ppl using. I love staying in South Lake, there's a lot to do and when you're steps away from everything, it's more relaxing!

I found this hotel on a whim b/c Hubs and I really wanted to get away this weekend for a short weekend trip. I found Forest Suites Resort through Kayak for a REALLY affordable price per night and was very surprised by all the good reviews here and on http://Kayak.com.

We got here on Friday early afternoon and it was impressive driving into this resort. The lobby's been remodeled so it looks very nice. The buildings are all older, all the rooms have been cosmetically remodeled but they are dated as others have said. The linens and ESPECIALLY the towels are all older (really they need to be replaced, even with cheap Walmart stuff, it'll still be better than what they've got now). I sometimes bring towels on trips with me but figured since this place seems pretty nice from the pictures and all that I wouldn't have to do that (wrong), so I'll be bringing towels for us the next time we come. For how little we paid for this room for 2 nights (Friday and Saturday nights) over Mother's day weekend 2009, this is a good deal.

They also provide a almost full breakfast in the breakfast room in the main lobby bldg which is really nice (I also look for hotels with at least a continental breakfast), it's more than continental so I like that. There are toasters for the English muffins, bagels, and thick Belgian waffles. There's also hard boiled egg (but cold, wish they boil them fresh and don't peel them, just let people peel for themselves so at least they'd be warm), cereal, juices out of a machine, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate (also out of a machine, but it was very yummy). Condiments were also very sufficient (peanut butter, jams, butter/margarine, syrup for the waffles, and cream cheese for the bagels). To finish things up there's fresh fruits (oranges, apples, bananas, and EVEN honeydews and cantaloupe (but the latter 2 maybe seasonal), etc.) so I was impressed. They also have coffee and oranges, apples, bananas in the lobby all day.

We've made special requests for more soaps, lotions, one more blanket (we get cold easily), and extra towels and they've been very responsive and quickly brought everything to us. The front desk people are also helpful and nice.

Overall, the location, the price (I think I did get a hot deal that might not happen again), the service, and the provisions (room, surroundings, facilities to include 2 swimming pool and 2 hot-tub/heated spas, and fitness room (still have to check that out) all make this place a great place to stay without breaking a budget. Since Forest Suites Resort is right behind 2 Marriott hotels (of different caliber) that's more than I want to pay, and it's very close to the Raley's so that's very convenient for cooking in, it is very centrally located, and also within walking distance to Harrah's and Harvey's for those who're into gaming and shows, etc. I think Forest Suites is about 3-4 stars far as a hotel in South Lake Tahoe is concerned and is reasonably priced without being pretentious like the chains like the Marriott hotels right nearby, but b/c it's so centrally located and surrounded by 4-5 star hotels, it also has to keep up with its facilities to compete against its neighbors, so that  means it's a great place to stay and I plan to stay here again with Hubs and might even bring other family members/relatives/friends! =)

I'll add pictures as I take them and post them up. I may update after I finish my stay here, since I'm writing this review in my hotel using the free wifi (another nice free service that I hope Forest Suites will always provide)!

This place was our abode for the two days we spent in Lake Tahoe. Located next to the Heavenly Gondola and close to the center of action, this place was really a great deal for us. The five of us got to stay in a two bed, two bath condo along with a day pass for the gondola for about $750 total. The condo was decent sized with a queen bed in one of the bedrooms and a double and single bed in the other. The kitchen was also well appointed with cutlery, silverware, cooking utensils, microwave and toaster along with a fridge. The couch in the living room doubled up a bed when unfolded, so none of us had to use the sleeping bags we had got just incase. They provide complimentary breakfast upto 10am. It wasn't anything lavish, just the basic - bread, bagels, muffins, waffles, cereal, boiled eggs and fresh fruit along with regulation juices, coffee and teas. it was more than sufficient to fuel ourselves for a morning's worth of skiing before stopping for lunch. It also saved us some $$ better spent on ski gear :) The complex has two hot tubs/jacuzzi. The hot tub was a welcome relief after skiing (or in my case trying to ski and falling over!) all day. The pulsating jets of hot water along with our 'spiked' OJ definitely helped relax my sore body. The room service was very prompt to take care of some minor things. The whole experience was great and I will wholly recommend anyone to stay in these condos anytime they come to Lake Tahoe.

Forest Suites is situated directly behind Marriott Timberlodge, and has all the benefits of that fabulous location....shopping, shuttles, movies, gondola, and three minute walk to Harrah's casino, and restaurants....for a little bitty price!  (Which can be even smaller through http://hotels.com) They also include a more than adequate lobby breakfast, a health club, and a pool and hot tub.   I had a one bedroom suite with full kitchen, and living room sofa pullout, which was a little dated, but perfectly comfortable for three people, and a really great value.
