There are places that you write about because you went to them and formed an opinion and decide to share.
Then, there are places you WANT TO TELL EVERYONE about because you they are YOUR places, that you go to over and over because you love them and you love the people who work there.
I have been taking my dog to For the love of Dog for 3 months now, and I can't honestly believe I was able to manage my life before I found them. It is the best. My Maltese mix is only 9 pounds and he was really shy at first. I was relieved that they don't put little dogs in with the big ones, in fact, that is why I first decided to go there.
But honestly, besides the clean facility and great grooming, it's the people that keep me going. Dana, Kyle, Rob, Rodrigo, just to name a few...and there are about 10 others I could name, are amazing with the dogs. They truly care and have spent time with me beyond what would be considered necessary to teach me about training and nutrition. My dog's life has been improved so much due to my discovering For The Love of Dog (Thanks Dog Savvy!) and I want to shout it out to everyone.

My drop in at For the Love of Dog today was completely unexpected; I had time to kill and the store popped up as the closest in my Garmin GPS Favorites, so off I went.
. . . and I am SO happy that I did!!
From the moment I walked my spirits lifted. The owner Dana happened to be right up front and welcomed me, letting me have some time to myself to roam the retail supply before I walked to the front desk. Once there, I introduced myself as a local pet sitter, and thus began my quick 20 minute introduction to Dana, the store, and the spa and doggy day care facilities.
Firstly, the retail area has a ton of cute stuff - dog accessories, note cards, healthy pet food, cute stickers, and even car harnesses. The self-groom area provides a large amount of room at each station and was gleaming (SUPER CLEAN!)
Then Dana took me to the day care area. Oh My Goodness - so much fun!!! I wasn't able to count how many dogs were in the little dog area - there had to be 25-30, and Dana told me that every day they're at capacity, with a waiting list and sometimes turning new clients away because they're serious about the pet-people ratio. I completely agree with this - too many dogs can lead to trouble, even if they're well supervised.
There was a large dog area with a ton of friendly pups who jumped up to say "Hello." It should be noted that the walls separating all of the dogs are about 5 feet tall - big enough that the large dogs could put their paws on the ledge, but too high for them to jump over. The dogs were playing with a billion neon yellow tennis balls when I met them - looked like fun!
Finally, the outdoor area was not only huge but busy! With a beautiful day like today, the dogs were really enjoying the breeze and warm sun. In the summer, they have a huge tarp to provide shade, and sprinklers to cool them down!
I should also mention that this place was exceptionally clean - SPOTLESS - with no dog "smell" at all. All of the dogs looked happy, relaxed, and comfortable, and the staff was just awesome. I'm really looking forward to visiting DogSavvy as soon as I can!!
You guys rock!!! Thanks for a great visit Dana!

For the love of dog is the fanciest doggie daycare I have ever seen, and back in San Fran I thought I had seen it all! I learned about them from Dog Savvy on Larimer Square. I think they are affiliated in some way. The referral was a good one because this place made me want to be a dog!
When I took my tour the guy showed me the entire building, and let me see exactly what the dogs do. They never crate the dogs and the thing I noticed that was so different from all other daycares is that it was quiet. The dogs weren't barking, they were playing, getting loved and just being plain happy.
They also offer, besides crate free daycare, grooming, treadmill sessions and training....and the retail shop is almost as good as Dog Savvy.
Although it's a drive for me to go all the way to Cherry Creek, it's totally worth it.

My hotel in Denver recommeded this place for grooming, since my dog got filthy at Chatfield. They got me in the same day I called, which is unheard of in my home town. When I walked into the place, I felt like I had been transported to Beverly Hills. They don't make dog facilities like this in Baltimore! The store in the front was gorgeous and the people were so professional and helpful. They groomed Nani the best she has ever looked and even did a treatment that reduced shedding. On a pyrenees this is a tall order. And the price was really reasonable.
Then they showed me the rest of the place. For the love of Dog is a dog daycare, but not like one would expect. These dogs are really spoiled. They don't put them in crates, instead they play with other dogs all day long. Unfortunately, Nani didn't get to do this because I found them the day before I left for home, but when I get back this place will be her home away from home.
