Dude...why I'm reviewing a supermarket?

Well, basically my family and I come here a lot. We usually just buy food for the entire month (If you see an Asian family with a full shopping cart, then it's most likely me, shopping for the entire month. Yeah, make fun of me all you want, but see you guys in about a month.).

Anyways, yes the packaged food are much cheaper than regular markets that I see. The produce, I can get them cheaper at Lion usually.

The place is gheeto, yes, but I can't take away any points. My main concern is how much traffic on Tully Road.

As for the price, as I stated earlier, it cheaper on package food, diary, drinks and frozen food. The meats, I don't really pay any attention to and produce, I can go somewhere else.

If you go to Costco, then Food Maxx shouldn't be different. No need for your Costco card and no membership fees. I don't know how they send me coupon, but use them and they are a steal.

Minus one star because I'm usually annoyed with the long lines and not many checkers. And this is my pet peeve, but I can't take away a star, but that lady always like to sell food. Come on, do you think I need to buy something to eat after coming out with a full shopping cart? Do I?!

Edit: Alright. On a message I got sent, I was being a bit too harsh on the lady. Decided to edit my post. No hard feelings and if the lady read this, I'm so sorry.

Here I go again......

I just wanted to let people know that when I went back here after my last review....I saw a MEXICAN female trying to steal another one of my Yoshi keychain from the bottom of my car in the parking lot. I just thought that it was funny that this was happening again at the same place. I don't think pointing out the race of that person out is racist at all.

Whoever stole my yoshi the first time committed a CRIME and the person trying to steal my new yoshi was also committing a CRIME. I do not think it is right and that I should "just get used to it". Some people may not care about the crimes happening right now in San Jose, but that doesn't mean I can't say something about it. I DON'T respect people who steal, people that let them get away with it, or people that call me racist for sharing what happened.

I just wanted to warn people about the crimes that can be committed while you are shopping here.

This is sorta my "Costco" for items that I don't necessarily want a 24pk of.

They seriously carry everything you can imagine foodwise.  I love it and also love the cheap prices.

Whenever I bag my groceries here, it takes me back to my younger years when I'd beg my mom to let me press the button so the conveyer belt turns on :)

I come here to get my food because of the low prices. There usually are really long lines, especially on Mondays. I think they should hire more cashiers and make sure they are at the cash registers.

The bathrooms are extremely disgusting, only to be used in case of extreme emergencies (like if the only other option is wetting/soiling your pants.) Sadly, since I drink a lot of water and it takes so long to get through the checkout, I've had to use those bathrooms a couple of times. It was quite a traumatizing experience. No paper, no seat covers, no soap, dirty toilet paper and you know what smeared in unexpected places... I cringe just remembering.

Anyways, sometimes I buy those tamales the women sell outside. They're homemade, warm, and delicious. At least the ones I've gotten in the past, from different women. I've had bad tamales in restaurants in the past, so I always inspect them, and these are well-made. :)

Plus, I'm usually starving after waiting in line for 30 minutes.

To the Yelp user who keeps getting the Yoshi key chain stolen:
Why would you hang stuff outside your car anyway?! It's obviously going to get stolen! And I don't appreciate your racist remarks either. My suggestion is you go shopping elsewhere although apparently, you can't afford to, so get used to it.

This place is a 4 stars for night owls like me

2 stars for any daytime useage.

Ghetto in the day. Beggars for coins, random Mexican woman asking you to buy taquitos or some thit out of their car. Ugh.. just leave me alone.

At night, it's awesome. Nobody is there. Only 1 cashier, but that's USUALLY not a problem. They accept credit/debit. REALLY cheap prices on certain items

For example, $1.39 for 2 hot pockets. $0.99 for 10 waffles. Cheap powerade and Gatorade 32 oz bottles at around 70 cents. It's worth checking out each isle.

Especially be on the look out for red price tags. That means extra clearance.

ALSO, I don't know how but they send me coupon sheet in the mail. THIS IS AWESOME! AMAZING deals on these, better then costco.

Example of the coupons are 99 cent for big bag of chips. $2 for 24 pack of water. 19 cents for 3lb onion. $1 cheese, $3 detergent. $2 for 12 nissin cup noodles. Good stuff

Check it out if you're up past midnight and want to get your shopping done in peace without people bugging you or holding up the line. There is ALWAYS long lines here in the day, but NEVER at night (from the 10+ times i been at night)

Also, they sell liquor and beer. Limited stock on both, but not terrible stock. Little less then you'd find at Luckies.

As long as you're not stuck up high class person, the ghettoness isn't THAT bad and nearly none at night. Best prices around for your local supermarket.

I LOVE THAT ITS OPEN 24 HOURS SO HARD TO FIND THESE DAYS!! Good location too across the street from eastridge. Stay away from Tully on any times beside odd hours. Tully rd is the biggest mess on the east side...

I don't care that this particular location is in the "ghetto" as some of the other reviews say. Um HI you're in the East Side of SJ get over it. That doesn't bother me at all, what does bother me is that no matter what time of the day or night you come into this freaken store there are lines that go on forever. I don't for the life of me understand why you have nine or ten freaken registers and you choose to use at most three. good job there folks. good deals but kinda not worth the wait.

For some reason there's always a few lanes open and there's quite a line, no matter what time of day.. beware and find something entertaining.

& If you love jalapenos, they sell them really cheap here for under $1 a pound. Same goes for a big ol bag of hot cheetos (man kids love these like crazy) for under $2 !! So many deals at food maxx.

This is my favorite grocery store ever.  I usually come here to do all of my grocery shopping since it is way cheaper than Lucky's or Safeway.  I also love how it is open 24hours, so I can stop by early in the morning, or late at night to avoid crowds.  The only thing about this store is that you really have to "hunt" for the bargains.  For example, the last time I was there, they had generic canned corn for 99cents a can.  But, tucked all the way to the side, they had Green Giant canned corn on sale for 69cents.  Also, at Food Max it usually is a better deal just to buy the bigger box since it will only cost a few cents more.  we save so much money shopping here, that I do not mind that I have to bag my own groceries.

I don't know about other locations but this one is totally ghetto in a run down shopping center. Parking is horrible. Store inside was dirty and dingy. Other Food Maxx can't be this trashed. I won't be coming here again.

This is my 200th review and it'll be dedicated to the mini tornado located right outside the exit. I swear to god, that little tornado is a blessing of GOD which might explain why there's always a dude or girl dressed in white asking for loot for his/her church or whatever.

Most people won't even understand this review as it pertains to people growing up in the hood in the 80's and 90's, an area where latinos and asians converged, where the TULLY ROAD east exit off of HWY 101 is the worst exit in America and where you could and still can score any drug you needed next to the Chuck-E-Cheeses.

Straight up, this place takes me back to the days of my youth when it was Food-4-Less. A huge cavernous supermarket. One entrance and one exit and the best baggers in the biz, YOU! Who needs places like Whole Foods when you got a place like this with its low low prices. Granted I would never ever ever ever buy meat here these days, but everything else is legit from what I can tell. Get all your Mexicano cheeses, Shasta sodas and HOMERUN PIES at super low prices.

This also goes back nearly 20 years, to the days of walking by afterschool from K.R. Smith Elementary and throwing rocks at the illuminated Party America sign for no reason whatsoever, we could have thrown rocks at the Good Guys or Food-4-Less lights but we chose Party America. In essence it was a party... for us. It's a Party City now but in the event that they want to come after me for my past transgressions, statute of limitations m*therf*cker!

Located across from 3-star Rice Company and Eastridge Mall, around the corner from Lions Super Plaza, a shitload of liquor stores and check cashing spots, a McDonalds. Living in that area was awesome, everything was centrally located. To this day, the Starbucks that used to be in the TCBY spot closed down has got to be the only Starbucks to close down after only like 3 years. Only next to a Food-4-Less could a Starbucks close down like that. There aint no money for a $5 frappachino in the hood! Starbucks doesn't take WIC! Unfortunately, a drive-thru Starbucks opened up in the old Church's Chicken building. *sigh*

If anybody know what happened to homerun pies, can you please get at me? They have these un-righteous looking knock-offs now and I'm in the market for OG HOMERUN PIES. Hollerate.

I know this is ridiculous, but while I was in the produce section I thought of Tommy, the tomato. I think I've been listening to too much radio.

So....after we were suppose to go food shopping w/ my gf for her stay in Berkeley. We were suppose to go to Whole Foods but it was out of out way and a bit expensive. She then suggested Albertsons, but then I remembered another market that was close to my home and also really cheap...me and my friends would go there back in our highschool days. Food Maxx was the perfect solution.

This place is like Costco but w/o the membership fees and the hassle of being checked for membership when you pay for your food and also the worry of whether or not you are going to finish the bulk pack you buy. I LOOOOOVEE this place, it is my NEW market! Sorry Albertsons that is now changing into Lucky's.

Food Max has almost everything, best of all their stuff is cheap. So here is what we got, sourdough English muffin. 2 packs of pop rocks that contained 3 pouches each, deli cut pastrami, Sergent provolone cheese, Oscar Meyer wieners, whole rotisserie chicken, corn pops, cereal granola bars. dry salami, onion rings. ALL for 33$$$ OMFGGG can you believe that! Usually I would be paying a lot more for all of that stuff like about 20$ more at Albertsons. They have a lot of variety.
The meat and fish though do not look fresh here, so I have to go to Albertsons for my salmon as it is really old looking at Food Maxx, it just doesn't have the bright vibrant color to it.

Also the food is placed uneconomically and it is hard to move your cart around here sometimes and the lines are long and they don't open up new ones unlike Albertsons.

Lots of food for a cheap cheap price. Ohh yea baby. I will be doing my grocery shopping here from now on...well except for the meat products.
