The nature center has a pretty decent museum and gift shop, but the real attraction is the trails, of course. The Boardwalk is a great place for a nice brisk,fairly easy walk to get the blood flowing and offers some great views of the river. If you have more time, there are miles of unimproved trails, ranging from easy to moderately strenuous, with lots of great scenery.
You're less likely to see deer there than you were a few years ago, but the lower-story vegetation is recovering after being stripped by years of severe overpopulation, and so far the trade-off seems worth it.
Fontenelle Forest also offers lots of great classes, day camps, and events for kids and adults alike.
