On my most recent trip to Miami to visit my family, we all stayed at the penthouse on the 37th floor of the new tower, which will supposedly all be condos once the other 3 buildings in the complex are completed. Due to the level of construction, we didn't pay anywhere near asking for the penthouse, even though it was Labor Day weekend.
The suite itself was very, very large, consisting of one master bedroom with a private 200 ft. balcony, flat screen tv, jacuzzi tub, shower, bedside bar complete with mini-fridge, and his-and-her closets/bathrooms. There were an additional 2 bedrooms with queen-sized beds, and great baths. Round that out with a den/office that has a sofa bed, and a "staff's quarters," which are nicer than most rooms at luxury hotels (think private marble bath and jacuzzi tub), and you can comfortably sleep 9 people. The kitchen was large, if not understocked.
But hands down, the best part of this room is the incredible wrap-around deck that engulfs half of the entire floor of the tower. There's even a private hot tub perched atop the deck, with both ocean and city views. Absolutely extraordinary.
Now on to the cons: The service was a little below par: example, beds weren't made until 3pm and turndown service had to be requested 2 out of the 5 nights we were there. Room service was overpriced and bland. Security was unresponsive and unaware: 2 prostitutes came up to the door several times in one night asking for "John" (hahahahaha). Even after we called security, they persisted. Problem could easily have been solved by activating the floor lock in the elevator that would prevent anyone without a key from accessing the floor, but........they chose not to do that.
Great valets!
Fantastic Resort Hotel.
On some websites this is rated 4 stars, but I was argue 5 for sure.
(If you stay in the new tower, that is)
The rooms are new, clean, elegant and include whirlpool tubs, kitchen efficiencies, stereos, and balconies.
The service is great.
The grounds are the best part - large clean and wonderful pool, childrens waterpark, good food, great beach associated with the hotel.
(Expensive valet parking, but if you can afford to stay here, you can afford to park I guess...)
