I recently walked in looking for a harness for my little dog. My dog is a weird shape, so finding a harness that fits properly has always been a problem.  They had the brand  (Puppia) and color I was looking for. The employee was helpful figuring out the sizing question I had.  My dog walked out with a new harness. Good stuff.

I've never seen a company run so poorly, EVER! From the terrible customer service, excuses, lies and rudeness, it's just amazing.

I went into Follow Your Nose to pick up nail clippers. Ramie said that they can get the old ones re-sharpened. If you drop them off on a Thursday the following Friday they'd be done, 8 days later. Well, 9 weeks later... this is not a typo, I did say nine weeks later.

Ramie had an abundance of excuses, from: someone's on vacation, sick, lost in the mail, delivered to the wrong place, not getting my messages...ETC.

Ramie, you told me that you didn't get my messages. I was standing next to your employee twice when they called you. I was told that you'd call me the next day, which you never did. You called me twice over the 9 weeks; the first time was about 6 weeks after this whole thing started. In the second message you emphasized 3 times that you would call me Monday at 11- you never called.

After the fourth week I knew this was going to be bad. Around the 5th week I finally got hold of Ramie via phone. I couldn't believe how rude she was. Ramie, when a customer is trying to talk to you, keep your mouth shut!! When you constantly interrupt them it makes a bad situation worse. Two things will happen once you shut your mouth. The conversation you obviously don't want to be in will end quicker. Two: you might actually learn something. But, seeing earlier reviews about your rudeness this is unlikely.

Ramie would say "Did we call you? If not they're not here!" Well, why do you give a day on which they will be there? The funny thing is when the clippers finally did turn up they never called, what a surprise.

Seeing Ricky T's post about this store's legal issues I'm not surprised. What surprises me is that they're still in business. From what I've heard at both the dog beach and pooch park it's stunning. I have two friends who stopped using their dog walking service. I'm hoping they will post here as well. Some of these reviews seem very inflated in the positive. I wonder who actually posts them.

    PLEASE check the filtered reviews!

Besides the fact of getting a weird vibe setting foot in this store, Every single time I go they don't have what I need.. first it was a harness which they didn't have my dogs size "out of stock" they said.."we'll be getting more soon".  Next it was a leash that they carry but were "out of stock" and the third time was a traveling bowl which was also, "out of stock".  The first time I went into this store the owner also tried selling me on her food she carries stating the generic kinds are "bad for your dog".  Needless to say, when visiting my dogs fantastic, educated vet for the first time he said he feeds his dogs IAMS and food from PetCo is fine.  I think i'm done with this store. btw-stock your shelves!!

Very nice store.  They also have great quality products.  The husband is great and knows a lot about dog food.  Nice guy.

I stopped shopping here because the wife is so annoying & their employees are worthless!  Oh let me get the door myself with two cases of your product in my hands.  Another one was rude to me.  A little customer appreciation would go a long way people.

Switched over to Happy Husky Bakery & am a happy camper.

Love LOVE The Hungry Pup! Our favorite new shop for the 4-legged children. I don't know how I lived in Evanston for a year and a half before discovering this place, especially since I drive past this section of Chicago ave. all the time.  The other shops in Evanston we'd been going to weren't doing it for me: one sells puppies, which is murder on my heart strings, and the other doesn't sell bully sticks. Bully sticks are a life saver and a must for our dogs. The other store we love is great, but, a longer drive so it's nice to have a local shop that fits our needs.

The selection of food and treats at Hungry Pup is unbelievable, and is all natural and organic. I swear, my dogs eat better than I do. And, what's even better are their prices; we feed our dogs Fromm, and a 5 lb. bag is only $12! It's funny that Fromm is considered a "fancy" brand, when it costs as much, if not less, than the more common brands sold in big chain stores. They also carry the jumbo packs of Moo bully sticks which are a necessity around these here parts. A package of the medium size sticks runs about $48, which isn't bad considering one pack can last us a month or longer. The selection of toys is varied, too. We got a hide-a-squirrel toy for the dogs for Christmas and it's been a huge hit. The baby squirrels freak me out when I'm half asleep and they're strewn all over the floor, but, the dogs love them.

The staff couldn't be nicer, are super friendly and offer great suggestions. I am so so happy we found this place and will have to take the girls in so they can pick out a treat for themselves.

We use their dog walking service and from time to time stop in to the shop. The dog walking service is great. They leave detailed notes and take care of everything from bringing in the mail to feeding the fish. I can't recommend it enough.

The shop is a little high-end for our tastes (luckily, our dogs like the cheaper stuff), but everything we've gotten there has been top quality.  The shop owner (Dave?) has helped us find the right things for our dogs on many occasions.

Although my initial experience with the shop left something to be desired, I recently started using their dog-walking service and have been pleased with the experience.  The owners have been helpful - when they were out of something I needed, they sent it with the dog-walker when it came in.  Definitely makes my life easier.  For the most part, we have the same dog-walker 5 days a week and he is GREAT!  Our dogs love him and I trust him with them.

The store is definitely high-end.  Although I do not purchase dog food from them, they do seem to have a great selection of wet and dry food.  I do get bones and chews from them for our dogs, including frozen bones, which is great.  And, of course, there is quite a selection of cute collars, leashes and other dog/cat apparel and gear.

My little Chihuahua's feet are uncomfortably cold in this horrible snowy weather, so I went here to buy her some booties. Yes, dog boots! Oh so cute... (and they protect her paws from the salt on the ground).

They also have freakin adorable party dresses and sweaters and accessories and the cutest stuff for weirdos like me who love to dress their doggies.

And the bakery! Oh it's fabulous. I bought my pup peanut butter frozen yogurt during the summer... she enjoyed it very much!

I could spend way too much money here.

We use their dog sitting business for our bloodhound, five cats, and fish when we're out of town and have never had a bad experience. In fact, they've done a great job every time! They even emptied our dehumidifier for us without us asking, which kept our basement humidity-free. A++!

I love the store as well and do try to get there to buy cat food and dog food at least a few times a year.

We'll continue to use Follow Your Nose every time we are out of town with confidence.

The Hungry Pup is a really fun independent pet store. I only recently found it and was happily surprised as it carries a huge variety of organic pet food brands and is many many flavors  - not to mention, they are always very well stocked which is a problem I've had with some of the other independent pet stores in the area.

The store attendants are really nice and friendly! My only complaint is that none of them seemed to know much about the nutritional values of the different cat foods I was looking at or some of my more specific questions but they did their best to look it up and help me figure everything out!

I was happily surprised to find such a great little pet store in the area. While I was in the store, random customers stopped by with their dogs for a treat and the shop attendants knew them all by name.

These guys are the cat's pajamas. They've got great food and toys, and very smart staff who can customize your needs by pet - the right food for my 13-year-old cat, or the best toys for my big, energetic dog. The walking and sitting service is also top notch. They never let you down, and know what your pet needs, from how much water, or administering meds. They're on it.

I decided to go to this store because I had a coupon and I wanted to get my cats some food without the nasty fillers.  I went in with the intention of buying a bag of food, but instead the woman working pulled open a drawer full of cat food samples.  She gave me a mini shopping bag full of different brands of food for my cats to try before buying.  I was totally impressed!  My cats ended up loving the brand that she said was their best seller.  When I went back to buy a bag the girl working even carried that bag to my car for me!  I thought the service was fantastic here!
However, my cats ran out of food and when I went to buy some today the store was closed... the hours said 11-5 and I went at 1pm.  Disappointed that I had to go to Pet Smart to hold the kitties over.  Anyway,  would definitely shop here again.

Buyer beware!  I have used their cat sitting service.  When you make a reservation they charge your card right away - and if you change dates BEFORE your travel I've learned the hard way you don't get refunded.  I was supposed to have a "credit" on my account and suddenly the next time I booked it mysteriously wasn't there.  How very convenient for them. ***After I posted this the owner called me and notified me that they would no longer honor my existing reservation and demanded that I pick up my keys at their convenience and make other arrangements for my animals because I posted on Yelp.***

There is a *huge* variety of organic - or at the very least natural - foods here on the lower level of the store.

The mini-bakery is adorable, there are a big variety of toys and trinkets, and the staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable when we've stopped in. They even sent me home with a half dozen different free samples so our extremely picky greyhound could find something she'll eat.

We also found a wonderful set of rubber (think hot water bag) footies for those cold days on salt-covered sidewalks. We hadn't found them anywhere else, and certainly not in the big chain stores.

We're tired of that chain store experience and the feeling of being anonymous... and we'll certainly be back to support this "little guy".

For the dog owner that is willing to go the extra mile for their pet. If your pet has allergies, this is the shop for you. Walk in and tell one of their associates what allergies your doggie has got and they'll tell you which brands and foods are best for your dogs needs. You can also get some gourmet or organic foods and pet treats. The treats look so good you may like to sample them, which is Okay says one of their main proprietors. I tried a bit of a cookie, I wouldn't buy a bag for myself but the dogs liked them, expensive though. The store is small but has two levels with tons of stuff. For me it reminds me of an over crowded candy store or that scene in the Harry Potter movie when he goes to purchase a wand. There are many kinds of anything's for your pet. I think most everything is for a dog, you should call or see other reviews. I feel like they do have some items for cats. Few things I recall most: for $3-$6 bucks you can get a dried beef jerky stick the length of your leg, also other assortments of braided pieces of jerky and other chewy things a dog could gnaw on. Many colors and styles of chains, leashes, and clothing styles for tiny pups. Downstairs all kinds of foods from frozen meats to dry snacks; the dry snacks are specific to your dogs allergies, I've gotten some completely organic veggie and fruit treats as well as yummy treats with ingredients I'd never heard of. Their stuff isn't cheap, but if you are willing to spend the time looking and know what your pet can / can't have; you can definitely walk out with some interesting buys and not spend an arm and a leg.

During Christmas they had a Santa in the store available for photos with your pets! He was there in the store for a couple hours.. devotion to pets.. I tell ya.

I've come across many independent pet stores, and The Hungry Pup is my favorite in the area. The bottom floor has a large variety of natural, organic pet food and treats for both dogs AND cats. I've found brands here that I've never seen or heard of before. There are freezers packed with raw foods available as well. Next the register upstairs, there is a bakery case with dog treats that look good enough for people to eat. Along the walls and on shelves are various bully sticks and bones, dog apparel, toys of all sizes and shapes, leashes and collars, bowls, and an area for cat supplies (catnip, toys, et cetera). There is SO much to browse through at Hungry Pup. I almost always find something new here. If you don't find what you need, you can try to order it. Besides the variety of foods and goods, their prices are competitive (compared to other natural pet stores), AND they donate to local shelters. How awesome is that?

Dogs are more than welcomed at Hungry Pup, so bring 'em. They will go wild with all the smells of bully sticks and squeaky toys around them.

Very nice pet store with extremely knowledgeable and  friendly staff. A bit pricey, but that's what you get for buying the best organic food for man's best friend. If your dog is sick at all I suggest going here for some holistic medicine before seeing a vet. We bought a bag of diatomaceous earth here and it cured our puppies worms in no time at all!

We've used Follow Your Nose pet sitting service for many years.  First for our golden retriever and cat and now our cats.  They have never failed us and often go above and beyond.  One time I had locked the storm door and Dave had to get into the house via a window!  He also took the dog to the vet when he was having a problem.  I trust them and can enjoy my vacation knowing that Sasha and Sabrina are well cared for.

We have had All Good Dogs Pet Care walk our dog daily for about two months. When we first contacted them, the owner scheduled an intake visit. He came out and met us and our dog, and we got down to business. He was friendly and professional and he was an obvious dog lover. My husband and I liked him right away. Their prices are competitive and our dog walker consistently comes everyday. Our dog really appreciates the attention. I have nothing but good things to say about them!

I must say, I was VERY impressed with the owner's knowledge of dog foods.  I don't have kids and my two dogs are my babies, so I only give them the very best.  You wouldn't catch me dead buying food from Petsmart or Petco as they have subpar products with a lot of corn and grain fillers.

When I walked in, the gentleman directed me to the food I was interested in and told me a lot of information that I did not know including the range in protein and fat content, etc.  I bought the food that he recommended and my dog has thrived on it.

The owner asked my name when I left and gave me a handshake,  THIS is the way that I like to do business instead of going to a big chain and having a sixteen year old with a bored look on his face ring me up and, if I'm lucky, give me a rehersed "thanks" as I leave.  I'm old-fashioned and like to feel that the businesses I shop at know my name and have my best interests in mind.  This is the way they do business at The Hungry Pup.

As far as prices, you're not going to find Beneful and Iams prices there, but then again, you get what you pay for.  Actually, I found that they sell the Evanger's I buy at the lowest prices around-- it's even cheaper than Pet Supplies Plus!  Thanks Hungry Pup!

Cute store with natural food downstairs, the prices are definitely better than the chain stores (like Petco) in which the Wellness brands were about 20c cheaper.  They also have a little cased in desserts (my puppy digs their cupcakes), accessories, and toys for dogs, cats, birds, etc.  Try to ask for some free treats from the cashier - they usually have flavorful organic treats.  Metered parking available up along Chicago.
