Russ, the owner of Fog city, was the DJ at our wedding and he was perfection. I enjoyed talking to Russ at our meeting and with his extensive experience and the promptness to which he responded to my inquiries I just had a feeling he would be right DJ for us.
In addition to his extensive music collection, he was willing to obtain any song I requested. He was very responsive, and knowledgeable as well, if I requested a certain genre, or a certain artist or group of artists, he would "get" it and be able to work within that area of music to set the right mood. I also asked for specific songs and he played those as well.
Russ was the opposite of the "cheesy" MC stereotype. He was elegant in his tuxedo and just ran the show quietly and efficiently. The guests barely knew he was doing it, but I knew exactly what he was doing. He had a computer time line set up and was timing the toasts and "performances" to fit in between the courses and other events.
I most highly recommend Russ as a DJ for any even but especially for weddings and especially for people who want class, elegance and good music. His prices were fabulous for the service and quality.
Our DJ, Ashley, was incredibly good. She didn't get in the way, she wasn't in our faces (like some DJs we've seen... my husband almost nixed a DJ because of some we've seen in the past). Ashley played great music, incorporating her own choices seamlessly into our requests; she read the mood of the guests and kept the party flowing in every way. When she made announcements, she was clear and enthusiastic. When others spoke, she paid close attention and kept the noise balanced. People were grooving all night!
Ashley was also quite responsive to our concerns during the planning stage, and helped us lay out a schedule that was easy to follow. Without her, things would not have proceeded very smoothly, and anything that makes the bride's life easier is appreciated!
I hired Russ Catanach for my wedding. The company is on the preferred vendor list at the reception hall. I hired him after he DJ my company holiday party. My husband and I were flexible with the music. I made all my payments to him via fax. He was always available via email when ever I had a question. I
I mailed him an extensive list of music and asked him to be the MC at the reception. He was well spoken on the microphone. He was able to get everyone attention for all the announcements. He also knew how to get our guests dancing and having a good time. My family loves to dance disco swing and surprisingly the electric slide.
Russ was prepared with his music and had our guests dancing till the lights came on. He did a great job going with the flow and feeling the crowd. If people where not dancing he would change the song immediately. He is easy to talk to and was a valuable speaker at the reception.

We had Fog City DJ Joe Borgonia for my parents' golden wedding anniversary and everything was perfect. Fog City was very communicative prior to the event. Joe showed up early, got all his equipment set up, and also provided and taped to the floor an extension cord for the projector that we also rented from them.
Joe complied perfectly with our two most important requirements:
1. Keep the volume at a level conducive to conversation. This was especially important given that we had an older crowd.
2. Play a good selection of standards / big band music.
I would use them again in a heartbeat.
Russ was the DJ at our wedding in Napa a few weeks ago. He was fabulous -- professional, courteous and knowledgeable.
We enjoyed working with him from the beginning -- we knew we wanted someone who was low-key, not a grand-stander. He was quickly able to understand our tastes in music and expectations for the evening.
Russ worked well with our wedding day coordinator and also gave us some good suggestions on how to adjust our timeline to make the event flow seamlessly.
He really knows his stuff and is able to read a crowd. Very good at keeping people dancing. He also was on the microphone very little selectively making announcements only when necessary. We also wanted to do the anniversary dance instead of the typical bouquet toss and he had some great music selections for that dance to kick off the evening.
Overall, we really enjoyed working with Russ and would recommend him to anyone.
Russ did an incredible job DJing our wedding at the Flood Mansion. Our biggest concern regarding our wedding DJ was the cheese factor. Russ was low key and professional and gave us GREAT music all night long without an ounce of cheese (except when we requested it -- gotta have some cheesy crowd pleasing music in there somewhere). He definitely keeps people dancing. He was super prepared and reasonably priced. I would recommend him without hesitation.
