We found ourselves in Marblehead right around brunch time on a Sunday afternoon and wandered the streets with our chamber of Commerce map until we found Flynnies. The deco is nothing to be excited about. It looks like one of those places where the patrons have been coming in regularly for years. We were seated promptly and our Pepsi's were brought over right away. I ordered the steak tips and benedict brunch special and let me tell you, the steak tips were soooo good. The benedict had nice ham but not enough Hollandaise, and let's face it. It's all about the Hollandaise. Also, the homefries seemed to be a sweet potato and regular potato mix, but with not a lot of flavor. John got the french toast which was also tasty. But honestly, how can you mess up French Toast. All in all, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Just a place to feed your tummy if you happen to be in the area.

Ha ha Flynnies you are so cute because you take the term "steak tips" literally. The skinny ends of a piece of steak cooked to dryness and then smothered in a sauce resembling something from Kraft. Way overpriced for that. This is one of those places that does a little bit of every cuisine, and in these cases it is always unlikely that any of them are done well. I have to admit that they are capable of not messing up a burger. That's why it's not a one star.

The wife & I tried Flynnies on the Avenue this past weekend as we had been to Flynnies at the Beach many times over the years and enjoyed it. We were first greeted by a friendly waitress as there was no one at the door-common for lunch. We were seated in the doorway to the lounge, strange as the place was nearly empty. Our waitress gave us our menus, and took our drink orders. 20 minutes later she came back with my wife's bloody mary (very bland) and promptly left. My wife could see her standing at the bar text messaging but could not get her attention. 15 minutes later she came over with my drink, a Tom Collins (seemingly missing the alcohol) and proceeded to walk away, we had to stop her. Then we had to ask what the specials were, she seemed annoyed and unsure, but smiling and made some suggestions. My wife ordered a island inspired chicken roll-up and I got the Flynnies version of a Turkey Club. The roll-up was soggy from the mango "salsa" and the fields greens inside were a gelatinous mess, my wife couldn't eat it. and feasted on the fries. My club was a bit better ,toasty and full of the fresh listed ingredients, fries were excellent. We did notice some locals who had ordered the chowder (something have had and like) and the nachos which appeared huge, hot & cheesey. Space was cramped, parking is on the street, handicap accessible, good portions for the money. Stick to the basics here and you will find tasty fare, look at what the locals are ordering (HINT: they sit at the bar) and order the same. Don't expect steller service, but at least service with a smile. We miss Flynnies at the Beach a much better choice!
