I have so many memories of going to the Flynn as a kid for field trips, concerts, and musicals. My friend from high school was in "The King & I" at the Flynn a couple of years ago...he was recently in another production there as well.
Right now, this is one of two large theaters in Burlington. The other one is the Waterfront Theater. I haven't been in that theater yet, since it's pretty much brand new. But the Flynn has been around for a while.
They have anything from Taiko Drummers to Guster to West Side Story...a huge variety. I first saw Guster live at the Flynn, and it was a pretty unforgettable experience. Standing in the seats, cheering...
The theater itself is pretty large, it has 1,453 seats, and I've always wanted to go backstage and look at the fly equipment...there are always huge scrims and backdrops being flown in from above.
I also worked here once and did some tech stuff. I dont' remember exactly what I did but it was nothing fancy.
But looking at the Web site, maybe I should work there...if you rent the Flynn and you need a stage manager, they charge $250 a day JUST FOR THE STAGE MANAGER. Damn.
The Flynn is beautiful, and might be a little too fancy for a first date, but check out the events. Sometimes, the events do not match the venue, and in that case it might be appropriate.
