You can't beat being whisked away from the office mid-day for a happy hour that runs from 2-6pm!
Brisket sliders, tenders & fries, for cheap - and while I begrudgingly behaved and had a soda, the happy hour drinks are low cost too!
Sweet deal!
Disapointing, disapointed, maybe I should have waited for a non-Seahawk's Sunday?
Don't get me wrong -- I EXPECT dives when I go out for BBQ. I don't know quite how to express my disapointment... usually when you go to a BBQ/Bar/Pool joynt, the people are friendly, welcoming, the music doesn't make your ears bleed (although the yelling might), and ... I dunno.
Granted, I went just after a Seahawks victory, so a lot of people who were still there were trashed...
still... Went back in the back where there weren't many people (thinking it would be quieter), but they had the music blaring so loud we had to scream to be heard. When we asked our server and the front bartenders if we could turn it down, they said "Well, it's a football crowd." WHAT?!? The game was over 40 minutes before... and the crowd had mostly cleared out, and since when does loud music have anything to do with football?
BUT, as I said, I went for the BBQ...
Murr. Not great. Not bad. My BBQ pork was slathered in decent hot BBQ sauce, and the fries were also decent. Not great, but probably 3 stars. My friend had the French dip, and said it was passable... also 3 stars. The Grande Nachos looked/felt like they'd been made first and then put on a warming rack... or maybe someone else ordered them and then forgot them, so we got the old/cold stuff. VERY disapointing. Probably a 1.5 star on the nachos.
Definitely a place to go to watch "the big game", so I'll probably go back for THAT experience. NOT the place to go if you want decent conversation and comfort food BBQ.
BTW, our waitress was VERY nice and tried really hard.
Oh, yeah, the other problem with post games... we had some drunks come up to us and start talking -- sorry, hosier, REALLY not interested! -- and then some snot-nosed Yankees fans playing pool and #@#@#*)* and #$)*@#*$#@)*$@#) every other word. Really, guys, do you have to show -- again -- how stupid you are with your swearing? Usually just wearing a Yankee's shirt and hat blares that message loud and clear.
I don't know what happened - it was a friday night. This place was empty, we ordered like 6 beers, and the deluxe nachos. We were there for quite a while, and the bill, with tip came to $28. Not sure what happened, I happily paid the check and we stumbled home. On the outside I thought it would be bad, but it was chill inside. Maybe cause the Sonics are gone, things are just a lot slower, but if I could repeat my first experience, and I don't know if I can count on that, I'd happily go back. Plus they had a ton of TV's, so I hope that when the basketball season get's started I can go back and boo the Oklahoma City Thunder and cheer on my new favorite anti-heros, the LA Clippers.
I'd love to give it 4 stars, but I'll have to see if my good experience is reproduceable
The fries were excellent and the service was good. But BBQ????? Please. This food tasted like it was cooked at the beginning of the week and reheated from then on. Old....stale...just plain nasty. The link was mushy but passable in taste. The chicken was dry......inedible dry. Even the sauce could not wake it up. The ribs were tough and stale tasting. This is oven cooked food with BBQ sauce thrown on it not BBQ. I have to stop writing now as just the thought of their food is making me sick to my stomach all over again. So bad I can't get it out of my head!
Do you remember the movie, "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle?" Do you remember the "extreme" guys who were so tough but listened to 80's chick music? It seems they've materialized into real life! My oh my they sure were "extreme."
We sat in the corner (not where big buck hunter is, but that game is the #1). Our service was nice, not intrusive and very low key. But I suppose that's what you get when you go to Floyd's.
*******Flashback********
About a year ago, I had never been in this place but my friends and I were meeting for a Sonics (rip) game. They said to meet here. I burst into Chutney's next door expecting to see my friends, but only found a lot of Indian restaurant patrons staring mouths agape at me. Sheepishly, I realized I was in the wrong place and quickly resolved my problem with a beer.
*****End flashback******
We started out with a half order of nachos. it could have easily fed 3 people and still had chips on our plates. They were tasty. He ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and I ordered the crispy chicken fingers. They were good, too. The fires that overwhelmed our protein entrees were good but there were just so damn many.
For about $40 we had 2 rounds, nachos and chicken x2. It's a fun place, next time I'll be sure to bring a Donna Summers tape, just in case.
Taking my childhood friend out for a belated birthday dinner, I thought Floyd's Place could become one of those favorites that I could rely on for comfort food and a beer. I was correct about the latter, but not the former.
I ordered the french dip with fries but couldn't help but notice that the food is so uninspired, bland and meager in portion size. It was very disappointing considering that I was expecting a hearty sandwich that would fill me up.
To Floyd's credit, the waitress was a sweetheart and very attentive to fill up our beverages and make sure we were taken care of.
I won't come to Floyd's unless I'm thirsty and full from a meal elsewhere.
We have been here a few other times & with its excellent location, will certainly go again. This time, we arrived after the St. Paddy's run & found a terrific deal - $3 pints & $11 pitchers of arrogant bastard. Ahh satisfaction!
Unfortunately, we definitely got the short end of the service stick. While not "bad", it was a bit irritating to have flag down the staff as they flirted with the all women groups. And when our pitcher was picked up with some of the precious liquid still in it and my attempts to say "Hey! Wait! Don't!" went unheard- I was displeased.
As I said, we have gone before & will go again, but taking a pitcher with beer still in it is just wrong.
Sliding through the ice, laughing their heads off, a group of about seven made their way through the streets of Queen Anne.
Hungry, cold and ready to play some f-in' pool, they found themselves entering under a giant turning pig- at last, warmth, good food and flippin' pool tables.
Floyd's Place is trying to be lots of things at once but it seems to work. You want to watch sports, this is the place for you!
You say you want to eat BBQ and homemade sauces with your string fries? Well, come on in!
Oh, you wanted to play pool and arcade games? Well, they've got those too!
Prices are reasonable for the quality of food you get- all the sandwiches are on wheat bread with fresh veggies. Plus, the guys who work at Floyd's are really funny- they'll laugh at your jokes even when they fall flat.
I'm surprised they don't have a pulled pork sandwhich what with all the BBQ nonsense going around. So -1 star for that, because this chick loves herself some pulled pork.
Caution: the weird noise the pig sign makes when turning around outside will really throw you for a loop. High heels plus ice plus piggy noises equals diaster- or at the very least, a bruised behind.
Roll in there with a bunch of co-workers for lunch. Got a table quick and easy and the waiter got our drink orders really quickly.
Sadly, while the service was great the food was pretty meh. The bbq was sweet, but the pork loin sandwich meat was kinda dry. The fries, which my friends raved about, were ok without being really anything memorable.
I got in out of there for $12 after eating a sandwich and having a beer. Can't say that the experience was really worth the price, but I'm willing to go back and try more on the menu to see if I just caught them on an off day.
The first time I was to Floyd's was back in October of 1997 I remember this because my parents were visiting with my nephew, he was five at the time. They were staying at the Inn at Queen Anne and he saw the pig and wanted to eat there, every day he wanted to eat at the spinning pig place. Finally one night we went, a night there was a metal concert at Key Arena, it was interesting. We walk in and no sooner were we seated than he wanted to leave, as he put it in his five year old voice there were too many alkalalics in there. We stayed because it was funny. The food wasn't great, we should have listened to the five year old.
Since the night of the "too many alkalalics" I've been in a few other times they have 27 beers on tap so it's a nice place to stop in before an event at the Key but I've yet to come back for the food.
The last time I was in there I made the mistake of ordering a glass of pinot noir and lets just say it was a big mistake, it tasted like vinegar, yuck! At a place with 27 beers on tap do not order a glass of wine! Lesson learned the hard way.
Before the glass of vinegar I would have rated this place a solid 3 stars now not so much, plus the bartender looks like he's twelve years old, I wanted to card him.
The revolving pig on the sign outside led me to believe that Floyd's Place was going to be a TGIFriday's/Red Robin type of generic touristy place. Boy was I wrong. On a Wednesday evening, the place was pretty empty, and had a distinct "smell" upon walking in. But the smell was quickly forgotten as I tucked into one of their many microbrews on tap. I didn't eat the food, nor did I see anyone else eating (though at one point it smelled like someones order was getting a little extra time on the fire).
A solid three stars for a decent, but not memorable, evening.
The dancing pig on the outside lured us in. I am a sucker for a dancing pig, and who could possibly blame me?
Unclear about the seating situation we gazed helplessly around until finally the bartender noticed us. The noticing took a surprisingly long time considering that, apart from the one man at the bar drinking, we were the only people there. Normally this might have served as a warning, but it was 2:30ish, and well after a lunch rush. Maybe we missed everyone.
After waiting interminably to be served, the food finally arrived. The ribs were chewy and absolutely smothered in sauce. Kate scraped it off as best she could and had a good 1/2 cup of red goo sitting on her plate for the rest of the meal. The wings I had were good, though mostly made of breading. But a BBQ place that can't do ribs? Not good.
On our lunchbreak, I took two co-workers here at 12:15pm on a weekday. The place was empty except for one group of businessmen by the window. Our orders were taken at 12:20. Ok so far. The waiter seemed a little slow. That's ok. Slow people need jobs too.
Half an hour later, we're getting hungry. The businessmen look pissed. Their food hasn't arrived yet. They ask for the manager. Words are exchanged, money is refunded, the businessmen leave.
1:15. The slow waiter is acting slow. He's standing around. Not doing much except hanging out behind the bar. Not even coming to tell us where our food is. It's been an hour since we came in. At 1:30, we we suddenly notice that about six plates of food are sitting on the bar ready to go out. The waiter gets a cell phone call. He goes outside and talks on his cell phone. The food, not being sentient or capable of moving on its own, sits at the bar.
1:40. Nearly an hour and a half after we got there, the food arrives. No, I'm not kidding. An hour and a half. The manager, who has been mysteriously absent this whole time, has now taken an active role. I discreetly glance over to see him talking sternly to the slow guy. At least someone seems to care. Somewhat.
2:00. We leave. As we've been sitting there, no less than three groups of people came in, sat down, waited and left irritated.
It wouldn't matter if the food tasted like Jesus had made it using all-organic ingredients, and then seasoned it with an Angel's joyous tears. There is no way I'll eat here again.
Ordered the Salmon sandwich which was decent. Asked the waitress if they had malt vinegar for my fries which she replied yes to but never delivered on. Overall the place was Meh. Sign outside reminded me of the bar Porky's from the movie. 2.5 Stars
Avoid game crowds and you are good to go.
I give the chicken wings a B-. Personally, I like mine saucy (!) and Floyd's goes crispy. My friends got the combo and they were wimping out saying it was too spicy. Perhaps some like it hot.
Service was great until game crowds rolled in and then we were forgotten.
They have a great jukebox - good tunes made it a fun night.
Surrounded by Hockey Fans, I felt I was home.
They had PBR on tap, so I was sold.
I had the baked salmon sandwich, it came with shoestring fries, it was just ok.
A great place though to get some food/beer before the game (And soon the Thunderbirds are moving down south). I feel bad for all the local businesses that will suffer due to the lack of teams. OH wait, they will be able pull in those crowds from all those conventions and concerts and ice shows that Key Arena will have.
Jandek bought me beer and nachos at Floyd's. It was the best beer and nachos I've ever had.
look it up.
Floyd's Place is a bar that caters to its 'regulars': locals that have been going there for years. After a couple times you will get to know everyone and it can really make you feel at home. A variety of different types of people are welcomed and is the reason these people keep coming back.
The food is just OK, so don't go there for the food. And don't believe the marketing behind their "BBQ restaurant" thing. Yes they have some BBQ but this is a bar, people. Go in with proper expectations and you won't be disappointed.
It can get busy at night and on the weekends, but in a good way. You'll be able to mingle, move around and make friends easily here. If that's what you're looking for then Floyd's is the Place for you.
If you don't like Floyd's BBQ, then the terrorists have won. Their shredded BBQ turkey sandwich with "The Boy" (NOTE: This is their homage / response to the hot sauce at Dixie's BBQ across the lake in Bellevue - another absolutely great BBQ spot - which is called "The Man" and is hotter than Jessica Alba in a volcano) is like heaven on a bun. Crisp fries. Great tartar sauce. And some great beers on tap.
The place can get a bit busy at times, but the bartenders and servers are cool (a lot of them are fellow musicians) and they've got a bunch of TVs to watch whatever sporting events you want - from soccer to extreme competitive knitting. I used to live just down the street from Floyd's and I miss it. I periodically go through sauce withdrawal.
If you're a hipster doofus - don't even bother.
If you like being around people who enjoy sports on game day - do it.
PS: can get rowdy. Problem?
Didn't get food, just beer. Adequate selection on tap, but not extensive.
REALLY loud music, had to scream to be heard and we all had scratchy throats once we left a couple hours later. Very odd selection of music playing: Frank Sinatra to Bob Marley to Chicago to Fleetwood Mac. I like variety in my music and I happen to like each of those artists, but in the same mix? Hmm.
Friday night, about 8:30. Mostly a sausage party ogling the few shemales who walked through the door. We left just as the Sonics game got out and the crowds came swarming in. I wasn't much in the mood for being groped if I needed to go to the restroom again.
Over all, okay place. It's beer, it's close, it's clean enough, the dude checking ID at the door was cool, it's fantastic people watching when there are females involved. I highly recommend checking in the back section where the pool tables are. If the brunette with a boob tattoo, physique of current-day Britney Spears, and black pleather halter top with the cut down to her navel is playing some eight ball, send her my best.
I would love to lay down a scathing Texan-perspective critique of the BBQ here, but I just had a beer or two and played pinball, so I'll keep quiet.
Two pinball tables. Cold beer. Two thumbs up.
I've been here once for booze and once for dinner and that is why it gets a 3 star and not 4.
First the booze:
Went before a hockey game to play some pool and get cheaper beer before the game. The servers were great and very attentive to us and kept the pitchers coming (and we were in the back of the bar so that says alot.) They were also quick to exchange our dollar bills for quarters so we could play pool. We also met quite a few regulars who turned out to be real characters.
Now the Dinner:
When you eat dinner here, the waitstaff tend to ignore you. It took us a long time to get seated and even to just get a pitcher. Their food was so - so, definitely not authentic BBQ but it will do. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was good, not great. Their coleslaw is very good though and their spicy sauce IS spicy. The prices are pretty reasonable.
I am more likely to come back for pool and pitchers, and maybe just a plate of fries this time!
This is a pretty decent Sports Bar with decent food. They brag about their BBQ, it's respectable, the ribs are very good. They have a good selection of Beer on tap and a good selection of Spirits. This is a great place in Lower Queen Anne to chill, watch a game, grab some eats and chat with a few friends. I must mention though the French Fries are out of this world, I mean I've never eaten better fries in my life than here.
So if you're heading to a game at the Key or need a place just to chill out I do recommend Floyd's.

Ambience: 1
Food: 2
Value: 1
Terrible looking: dingy and dirty
Not a good crowd; almost deserted on a Friday night
Mediocre food: sample platter: ribs; dry, sausage; decent, chicken; flavorless, fries: excellent, crispy, show string
Not worth the money or the trip
Kinda a divey joint. The local drunk Johnny was on hand giving out non-linear fragmented witticisms like "garbled...'cotton shottin mother fukin'..garbled".
Had to drop in to take a piss. Decided to get a beer to justify said activity. Other than that reason I dont think I would have stopped in.
They have a bunch of tvs with sports on.
Good stuff at Floyds. They have over 20 beers on tap and their bbq prices are pretty reasonable. I found the bbq ribs a little tough and dry for my personal liking, but their pulled pork sandwich was delicious (and only $8). I also found their bbq sauce to be on the sweeter side.
My favorite thing - their FRIES...they are the skinny kind (booooo to steak fries) and have some kind of coating that makes 'em crispier than most fries. I also saw someone get their nachos. It looked pretty good...the thing was about the size of my head!
Came in on a Saturday night in October. Place was completely packed with a middle-aged crowd. Came as a group of four and waited in their back game room until a table opened up in front. We were craving some BBQ and wanted to watch a few different football games on TV. The place has a large number of TVs but were only playing a Texas game on 6 screens and the Huskies game on one, which was far from view. The crowd was boisterous and incredibly loud. At around 8pm the place was quickly deserted (apparently there was a Thunderbirds game at Key Arena). Though we could finally hear each other, the only people left were the drunk football fans.
The service was pretty good until the crowd disappeared. Once they left, apparently our waitress took an hours break. After that it was impossible to get a drink.
The food was overall just okay. I ordered the BBQ combo of ribs and chicken. The food was alright, but my meats were cold and my coleslaw was warm. I have a feeling they just microwaved my whole plate. The sauce was much more vinegar based and less sweet. My friend ordered the full rack of ribs, which were a lot warmer than mine. Others ordered chicken strips and the salmon sandwich, which was quite delicious but skimpy on the meat.
Drinks were pretty good. My friend's a snob for mai tais and actually loved theirs. The whiskey sour was good and had an ample amount of alcohol. The beers were priced well since it was happy hour.
After eating we went to the game room to shoot some pool. Both the eight balls were stolen, but it was super cheap at 75 cents a game. They also have 2 pinball machines but one just eat up quarters.
Overall a good experience. Prices were a little above what they should have been, and definitely not the place to go when you're craving some good BBQ. But a fun place for a small group of friends to watch some games. I don't know if I'd go back often, but I wouldn't be opposed to a random visit.
Nice long bar, plenty of screens, and fantastic burgers served with thin-cut, crisp fries. The bartenders know their stuff and have been friendly every time I've been in. Live music some nights.
Fair prices, but to be avoided on a busy day. The staff doesn't really have a "sense of urgency" and instead of acknowledging you then taking your order and filling it... They do that to about ten people, and trickle out a few drinks at a time, grinning like idiots as they do. Purchased two rounds here, and the second took twelve minutes from order to execution. And the order? Two bottles of beer, and two shots. Really.
I like Floyd's. They show Steeler's games there (when they are on), the staff is friendly in a sincere way, and the fries are fantastic. Also the place is decent sized and isnt usually that crowded so you will always have a place to sit. I usually go during the day and get the shrimp basket. Its a great place to have drinks, with $2 beers during happy hour, and with the lack of crowd the drinks pretty much keep on comin.
I had the ribs and fries last night, and James had the combo, which has ribs, chicken, hot-link and fries. The fries are pretty damn awesome. I can't say that about much else. The waitress had better things to do than wait tables, and it wasn't a full house by any stretch of the imagination. It was freezing cold inside, which is a personal pet peeve of mine. The ribs were tough. Ribs loose all points the moment you need a knife to get through them, as far as I'm concerned. I don't see myself going back.
Pretty sure I came here everyday while at bumbershoot last year. By day 2 the bartender already knew what kind of beer we drank :) I've always had really good service here, really nice friendly bartenders and generally a real cool crowd of people. OK food, but I'm not much of a fan of BBQ to begin with, I come for the fries.. they are TO DIE FOR. Seriously, best I've ever had in all my life- no joke. They don't have a very big food menu, but have a lotttt of beers on tap. Oh and they don't have darts either :/ But other than that I love this place. Pretty good happy hour specials too!
Okay beer selection, food is decent nothing to seek out. Great place for hanging out with co-workers after a long week.
They have Pilsner Urquell on tap. Yum. We went here for lunch. I had the coconut prawns (which I have been craving for a while now). They were not the best but not bad. We sat in the back and played pin ball, which I am not very good at anymore. It was fun. I don't think I will ever get the shrimp again however.
I love this place! Simply the best sports bar if you want to watch football over the weekends. Their BBQ is pretty good and beverages aren't pricey either. Highly recommended!
pretty decent bbq. gets crowded if there is something doing at kea arena.
I love Floyd's Place! I closed this place 3 nights in a row while up in Seattle for my 1st ever trip there for the fantastic Bumbershoot music festival (music, art, film). Solid beer selection w 20 taps + or minus and some great bottles (a belgian ale called Barbar that was yummy and i'd never tried before)...solid WA beers like Snooqualmie IPA (sp?). Lotsa TVs so you can watch the fight or a baseball game or a futball match and some pool tables in back that were in pretty good shape. Solid music booking, caught local acts Wad (wow, these guys bring it!) and The Droneys (ditto!) and an Canadian band that killed it w/ the unlikely but wonderful name "24 Hour Church of Beer". Nice regulars that make you feel pretty welcome, good DJ night (EWF, Pfunk, De La and more at the hands of the solid young detroiter Vincent Montaldo and his yay area bud Patrick). I only ate food once when I dropped in w/ my wife, a 1/2 order of nachos that was not great but hit the spot (i like black beans not refried) and was huge, but just the beer selection, music and vibe give it 5. Most of all though the tireless Justin, bartender every night and day i was there, nicest guy you'd ever want to meet, works his ass off, trying to keep the cocktail vibe (bottle spinning and the like) alive and puts up w/ both the trainwreck locals (some drunkass kid dancing w/ a chair on his head!) and the slightly tipsy out-of-towners! Thank you Floyd's Place, you will see me again!
