Flowers by Anne
11 reviews for Flowers by Anne
My flowers were perfect!
I met with Anne and we talked about what I wanted for my wedding. She is so nice and was really easy to talk to. My flower budget was pretty tight and she helped me get the most for my money. I was blown away at how beautiful my flowers were, not only in person, but also in my wedding pictures.
Anne is an amazing florist!
I contacted probably over 100 flower vendors in the bay area and Flowers by Anne came up in my top 10. How did I get my top 10? I based my top 10 on highest rated/reviewed and best priced. For vendors with poor reviews or does not have 4 stars or higher on certain sites, I did not even consider. By e-mail I contacted many different flower vendors and she was 1 of 10 or probably 1 of 5, who gave me the best price for what I'm looking for in centerpieces etc.
I had probably 5 consultations with floral vendors for my wedding and for the initial consult, she was the best for staying within my range. A few of the other vendors did the whole bait and switch and added all these additional costs which went way over my budget. I was really specific about the design I wanted. I am a little worried about what kind of work the florist would do on my wedding day, because I had some friends say to me, "I wish my florist used more color, or wish it was bigger...or not what they thought it would be...", so I asked her to make a sample for me before signing a contract. I paid for it upfront of course. Other vendors wouldn't even do that for me. She worked out of her house to help cut down the cost.
The day I picked up the centerpiece and bouquets, I was amazed with the work she did! She said this was her "off day" too since she was going through some personal issues. She said other clients had come earlier today and wished they had that design for their wedding. I really loved the design, it was better then what I pictured it. I've attached a photo of the sample centerpiece she made.
I'll give an update on how she delivers on my wedding day.
Anne did the flowers for my September wedding in Napa Valley. I found her through a recommendation on a wedding board, after I had been turned down by MANY other florists for not meeting their high minimums. I had very specific requests, colors and a theme and was not willing to cut quality.
From the very beginning Anne was great to work with - very communicative and she easily grasped the look I was going for. When we met it was the easiest planning meeting I had for my wedding - she understood perfectly what I wanted, and was able to offer advice in areas I was less unsure of.
Throughout the months leading up the wedding, Anne was good about keeping in touch, revising the order as plans changed, and providing ample notification for due-dates.
The results were spectacular. Just stunning. The flowers were by far one of the favorite part of my day and looking at the photos you can see just how good a job Anne did. The flowers were the perfect color, and every flower was perfect.

I had Anne do the flowers for my wedding on 3/22/08 and I was blown away. The bouquets and table arrangements were much more beautiful than I originally pictured. Additionally, Anne made me feel very comfortable during the consultation (held in her home) and she worked with me to stay within my budget and never tried to upsell me. I would highly recommend Flowers by Anne to anyone who wants beautiful flowers at an affordable rate!
My wedding was beautiful and a lot of it had to do with Flowers By Anne.
It's a very small business run out of Anne's home in Brentwood, but she is outstanding! Her site is detailed and thorough. It has pictures and names of all kinds of flowers and bouquets.
At our consultation, she asked what I was looking for, what our colors were, etc. She asked about my dress and made bouquet size suggestions so that the bouquet wouldn't be lost or overwhelming.
She understood my desire for something striking and unique. The blue orchids, stephanotis and star gazer lilies were AMAZING. (You can see a pic in my photos)
For such exotic flowers and amazing service, her prices were fantastic. For a formal wedding with a wedding party of 12 and 6 parents we came in $153 under our floral budget.
I would recommend her any day of the week!
I met Anne and her husband at a Bridal Fair. I took their information but already had 3 other florists in mind. I ended up coming home and got an online estimate from Anne and was amazed at the prices, but still wanted to go with my top 3 florists I had originally decided on. I met with one and she treated me like dirt because of my budget. She considered herself a "Neiman Marcus" and I was a "Target" in her words. Her flowers were great, but her attitude and prices not so much. I called and tried to make an appt with the second florist I had in mind but since he was so exclusive, he only does 1 wedding a day and my date was already booked. Finally I went to the third florist I had in mind, great prices and great flowers- only pitfall they werent really local and they were booked as well and didn't seem like they wanted my business anyway. In a panic, I remembered Anne and quickly called her, but was unable to get a hold of her. She had 1 spot left for my wedding date and an appointment the day I called her for my wedding date, I called again and emailed and she wrote back saying that she would squeeze me in her last spot and appreciated my persistence. I was relieved and couldn't wait to meet her. Going into our first meeting I knew the colors I wanted and three specific flowers that I needed to have in my arrangements (all of which were considered the "high end" flowers). I went on her web site saw her work, picked out some that I liked but wanted them tweaked to my taste and flower picks and it was really easy from there. She was SUPER nice and she made sure that I was happy with what we had decided on. If I was unsure and asked for her opinion she would give it to me and suggest some things of which I completely trusted her taste. We communicated by email the whole time and she was really easygoing when I needed to make changes. The final outcome was AMAZING. She did an incredible job and I was SO excited and happy to see the floral arrangements. It was the right choice. I got the quality of a retail florist but for a fraction of the cost. I was able to get all the flowers that I wanted and didn't get treated like dirt because of our budget. She made it happen and everyone at our wedding complemented us on our flowers they were THAT beautiful. It made the room. She also decorated our cake with fresh flowers. On a side note just to tell you how AWESOME Anne is: The day of our wedding I was getting ready at a different location than the wedding site. I had arranged for someone to meet Anne at the wedding site in the morning to pick up the flower girl baskets, my bouquet along with the bridesmaids bouquets since we were going to need them for my bridal shots. I was going to have Anne stop there before going to the wedding site but she was going to charge me extra on delivery since it would be more than 1 stop. So on the day of the wedding, I get a call from her telling me that she was running a little behind schedule, but that she would make the stop and drop all the bouquets off herself! (and she didn't charge me for it). I thought that was so nice of her instead of making everything fall behind schedule. She really is a VERY nice and considerate person and all she wants is for the bride to be happy. We were so pleased and will definitely be recommending her to everyone. Thanks Anne!! You are the BEST!!
The flowers on my wedding day couldn't have been more perfect. I was in awe of my bouquet and my bridesmaids bouquets. The centerpieces were amazing, as were all of the boutonnieres and corsages. We received so many compliments on them and I was thrilled with everything.
Anne is extremely responsive and professional. She works out of her home and her prices are incredibly reasonable. She was a pleasure to work with and I wanted to pass along this gem of a wedding vendor.
Anne did our flowers for our wedding in November of 08...let me just tell you; they were gorgeous!!! She had done my best friends wedding too; so I already new how awesome she would be but when I saw them the day of; I wanted to cry because I couldn't beleive how beautiful they had turned out. I let her pick the centerpeices (since she is the pro) and when I saw the centerpeices I couldn't beleive how perfect she had done with the details and colors of the boquets...I wish I could put pictures up of her work...maybe i'll try to post them on theknot either way; I couldnt' have been happier with anyone else. thank you Anne for being so great.
As a bride, one of my main priorities were the wedding flowers. I had very specific ideas as to the colors and kinds of flowers I wanted for all the arrangements (big and small) that we would need. Our wedding was last September in San Jose, but I lived in New Jersey at the time of planning so I was kind of at a disadvantage trying to find the perfect florist who would also meet our budget. Luckily I found Anne's website by chance just while looking through bouquet pictures on google images. While scanning through her (very helpful) website, I realized that she was based in the Bay Area and decided to try her free "budget estimator" tool. She got back to me within a day, and was very knowledgeable and detailed with her response. The prices she quoted were within my budget, and she had so many glowing reviews on her website that addressed all the things I was looking for in a florist. So when she told me that she had only one spot left for my wedding date (and this was 7 or 8 months before our wedding), even though I'd never met her or seen her flowers in person, I decided to book her right then and there. I figured it was worth the $75 deposit to make sure she could do our wedding, and we could just cancel later if it didn't work out or if we found someone better. But I shouldn't have worried because she was already the right choice.
Anne really worked with me through the months, responding very promptly to all my emails. She was very patient with all the times I changed my mind and changed it back, and with all my suggestions and revisions and requests for price quotes.
On the wedding day itself, our flowers really shone. Everything was exactly how I pictured it or better, and all the guests were impressed. I had decided to splurge a little bit on the bridal party bouquets but go "zen" on the guest table centerpieces to save money, but people thought it was just stylish. :) I would definitely book Anne again for any future events, and recommend her to anyone.
Note: Anne is Located in Martinez
Flowers by Anne was actually one of first floral designers I contacted (via the website's awesome online estimator tool), but when I didn't hear from her, I assumed that she was booked. After several disappointing experiences with florists (one who said my floral choices were not good, one who no-showed for the consultation, and one who had a family emergency), I decided to follow up with her again and emailed her. I am so happy that I did, as sometimes things get lost on the net (that was a good lesson in following up!).
From the follow up email, Anne has been amazing! She expedited our estimate and held the date for us until we could meet with her for the personal consultation. At the consultation itself, she really understood our personalities and aesthetics and was able to translate it into really gorgeous designs. She was very helpful in making suggestions (e.g., adding green gladiolas to the ceremony decorations), guiding our decisions (e.g., using colors that pop instead of using white in the bridesmaids bouquets since their dresses were so bold), and offering us the best options for our budget (e.g., floral arrangements instead of floating flower heads). Her enthusiasm and passion for flowers even got my husband, Louie, excited about flowers - especially when she introduced him to Kermits (green button mums), which became the connecting element of our design. You can see a picture of our centerpiece here:
Because we had a big bridal party (a matron of honor, a maid of honor, 2 best men, 10 pairs of bridesmaids & groomsmen, 6 pairs of sponsors... etc. etc.) and over 200 guests, we were worried about our floral budget, but Anne was able to get us *under* our 3K budget with 11 bouquets, a pomander, 13 corsages, 24 boutonnieres, 2 large ceremony arrangements, 2 medium ceremony arrangements, 11 low centerpieces, 10 tall centerpieces (in pillar vases), 2 small toss bouquets, and cake flowers - that also already includes 3 delivery locations, tax, and setup.
It was really easy communicating with her, and she was always prompt in responding to my emails and answering all of my questions. I just looked at my email box and I have about 30+ emails between the two of us! That is a true testament to how dedicated, patient, and awesome she is =).
The most amazing thing about Anne is that she really cares about meeting her clients needs and is very flexible with changes. In my particular case, she even allowed us to change one of our deliver times the week before the wedding, which saved us even more money. We had originally scheduled her to deliver the flowers to our reception later because of an event going on before ours (which was cancelled).

Anne Nounou, owner of FlowersByAnne, was a dream vendor - from her detailed and timely email replies, to her knowledge of flowers, to her wholesale prices. I got the most gorgeous plum and mauve bouquet of calla lilies, cymbidiums and roses that perfectly complemented our wedding's lilac color scheme. You can see an image of the bouquet here:

For under $700 during high season (June), I also got two bridesmaids' bouquets of calla lilies, 8 boutonnieres and corsages, and 10 centerpiece sets, each consisting of 3 glass vases of varying height, colored gemstones, and 3 long stems of purple mokara orchids (these were apparently flown in from Hawaii). The girls all loved their flowers, and we got so many compliments on the contemporary yet elegant centerpiece.
Considering that callas and orchids are among the priciest wedding flowers, we could have paid a lot more for the quality, freshness, and generous sizes of the blooms had we gone to one of the retail vendors with the nice shop fronts closer to where we live on the Peninsula. Anne operated out of her home (in Oakley when we first met her, but she is now in Martinez), and I got a feeling it was pretty much a one-woman show, so she helped cut a lot of overhead and middle-man cost out of our bill. On wedding day, the flowers were ready at the hour Anne had promised, and when she took them out of refrigeration they looked as fresh as can be. Her taking the time to label each corsage/boutonniere helped us not to get them mixed up (she was super organized about everything). Finally, she is also quite flexible should you decide to change certain items after you first sign the contract. We found out rather late that our venue did not allow for open votive candles, so we asked Anne if she could swap out that part of the centerpieces, and she happily offered to replace them all with handfuls of loose orchids for us to scatter around the vases - turned out a lot prettier and greater bang-for-our-buck!
The only reason for 4 stars is due to Anne's location -- out of the way for people on the Peninsula.
