3 reviews for Flores Restaurant
When I lived on Lake Travis this was my favorite Tex Mex in the area. I no longer live near this location; but, my family does so I still eat here several times a year.
This past Saturday I had great lunch here with my huge family with some members arriving and leaving at different times and our waitress was awesome and was always there waiting to fill all of our numerous requests. I always feel sorry for whoever has to wait on my family; but, my Daddy and Bro-in-law are very generous with the tips regardless of service so hopefully it makes up for our high maintenance.
On this most recent visit I had the shrimp fajitas with sides of both Charo and re-fried beans (no rice). The shrimp were large and tasty on their own; but, even better wrapped in a warm corn tortilla with some beans, cheese, pico, sour cream and guacamole! My Niece had a bowl of Chicken Tortilla Soup that had HUGE chunks of carrots, celery, corn on the cob and avocado; she only ate the chicken, cheese, tortillas and broth. So, I took home her veggies and made yummy veggie tacos with my leftover fajita sides and tortillas.
They are always busy during prime eating time especially on the weekend:; so, expect a wait or go during off eating times like 3PM the way we do.
First of all, Anthony I. wrote a review for the wrong Flores location...his spot is located in Cedar Park. Second of all, Charity E. although I did not have the Mole, this place is an extrememely fun place to go to! Kudos! My picks are the Cheese Quesadilla & Beef Fajita Taco (that's only because I have an English stomach), however, my Husband LOVES the Pollo Caliente and the Gonzo. This is a no frills, high volume & high energy restaurant. Ronnie & Jeremy make the BEST "Flora" margarita a girl could ask for. They have the best chips & salsa by far of any Mexican restaurant! Be prepared to wait for a table if you are going on any Friday night, it is without a question the busiest restaurant in Lakeway. You can find me there with my friend Becca on any given night!
Flores is an in-and-out kind of 'family' style Tex-Mex. The staff is either EASL (but not yet) or young semi-punk locals. The location at the corner of the Home Depot strip center should tell you all you need to know about ambiance and style. The menu is decent -- weekend brunch includes all of your faves like Migas and Fajitas -- but there is nothing that will surprise you or grab your attention. Tortillas are straight out of the bag, rice and beans are rice and beans, etc. The salsa is quite saporoso, but otherwise your meal at Flores will not differ much from the last 50 and the next 25 times you go to a standard Tex-Mex location.
