I had never been to Floramo's but had heard the whole "meat falls off the bone" stuff. My wife suggested this one Saturday night for a casual dinner and I was rewarded with an truly great meal. (She is often right about these things.)

We sat at the bar because we didn't want to wait for a table. Not that the wait was going to be more that 10-15 minutes, but we like to sit at the bar too.

We had a very good ravioli starter. They were large and the cheese filling was fluffy, light and had lots of flavor. I should also mention that the bread is maybe the best I have ever had. I ordered the ribs and mashed potato. They were a huge rack and the meat was indeed very soft and tender. It did fall of the bone. But most importantly, I am always a little hesitant to order ribs because they are often very fatty and kind slimy inside. This was definitely NOT the case here. The ribs were very meaty and lean. The sauce is outstanding and permeated the meat just enough to render full flavor. The mashed was very good too.

My wife had a chicken and pasta dish that was very good. Perhaps a little over-sauced, but not bad in any way.

I cannot wait to get back to Floramos. I would encourage anyone to give it a try. If you are a fan or ribs and do not live close by, take the ride. You will be glad you did!

I did not expect one of the better veal dishes I've ever had to be found in Chelsea.  Reasonable pricing coupled with quick service made for an excellent restaurant experience.

This veal was so good, it melted in my mouth.  It was so flavorful.  I want it again.  Right now.

The marinara sauce on the veal parm is nothing special, but it didn't matter b/c that massive piece of veal made it alright.

It's not fancy. There's nothing about the outside that looks particularly inviting. But the food is pretty good for the price. One thing I can tell you is 'I hope you like leftovers' because the portions are huge. My favorite dish is the Fifth ave Chicken: breaded chicken breast served with your choice of pasta smothered in a delicious white wine sauce, onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Delicious! Trust me, this dish is enough to serve 2, but I usually handle it myself and save the leftovers for the next day (or 2!). You can get the Fifth ave lunch special which is half the size of the dinner. I believe it was around $7-8.

As far as appetizers go, you can't go wrong with the bruschetta for about $3. It consists of 2 Italian bread halves, layered with crushed tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese. It's not award winning , but it's a good substitute for the store-bought scali bread they provide (only by request). The boneless buffalo fingers are standard fare.

Not bad for Chelsea.... don't get me wrong, I'm not discriminating Chelsea.  I lived there for almost 20 years!

Anytime I tell people I grew up in chelsea, I always get two responses - "whoa - you're from the ghetto" OR "have you eaten at Floramo's".

The price fits the quality, essentially getting what you paid for.  Let's just put it that way.

I always get the baked haddock - never disappoints.

5 stars for the best steaktips and ribs I have ever tasted. This is Chelsea... Why would you come here for good service?! And who cares about the cheap looking free salads?  People come here for their juicy steaktips and ribs which do fall right off the bones. You can get meat on salad combos as well if you want to be healthy. They have a full bar with Grey Goose vodkas!

The food can be slow during lunch and dinner hours. I generally order take outs unless I'm no rush. You can even play Keno or scratch tickets.

Still slowly making the rounds in Chelsea...gotta say we were glad when we finally tried this place out.  It's the place where "the meat falls off the bone."  So, of course I had to get the rib and steak tip combo...and the ad wasn't lying!!!  Both the ribs and the steak tips were perfectly cooked, juicy, and tender.  The meat had great flavor--though I personally like a lot of sauce (this is where I think New Bridge does it a little better, but New Bridge definitely wasn't this tender).

The meal came with a side (I got mashed potatoes), a salad, and soft bread to start.  The mashed might have come from a box...and the salad was basically a plate of lettuce with some white onions...oh and one grape tomato...but I wasn't there for the sides and starters...and I would have easily paid $17-20 for the meat alone...it actually was only $13.25.

We ate at the bar, thanks to the host (owner?) sliding a couple down for us (without us asking!) and the staff was super friendly...despite this, the people next to us shorted them...BAHSTADS...but I digress...the company around us all seemed friendly and content with their meals, drinks, and gambling (keno and lotto tickets available).  With that in mind, it's not a fancy place, but I definitely consider it good eats...please don't sue me alton brown...

It's definitely not fancy as everyone has stated, but what I will say is it's good value for money -- big portions and modest prices.  Food tasted pretty good too.

I tried the ribs & steak tips and it came with 1 side (mash, fries, rice or pasta) and a salad for only $13.25!  I also started with the bruschetta, which for $2.95 was a good deal.  If you like cheese on bread with some chopped up tomato, you'll enjoy this.  It wasn't bruschetta that I'm familiar but all the same it was worth trying and good if you're hungry.  It's dripping with cheese!  For the salad, if you don't mind the skimpiness on tomatoes (1 grape tomato) and 3 thin slices of white onion on a bed of lettuce, you'll be fine.  It really is good value for money.  The steak tips and ribs did taste quite good -- it's sweet, and the rib meat does come right of the bone.

Parking is tough as it's very crowded.  Service was fine when I went which was pretty late, i.e. 8:30pm or so on a Sunday night.

Okay, I've lived in Chelsea for almost four years now, literally a stone's throw from Floramo's, and every time I fill up my gas tank at the Hess right next door, I always say to myself, "I should really try Floramo's. I hear so many good things about it." The outside didn't look particularly inviting -- it kinda looks like an old jail house. However, given the packed parking lot every night of the week, I figured that the place had to be relatively good, right?

Well, sadly, I was sorely mistaken. I went there for dinner one night with my little brother, and I was thoroughly unimpressed. Maybe it was just the hype I associated with it? The inside is a little ghetto, but I didn't really mind that so much. The server took a few minutes to get to us and take our drink and food order. My brother got their meat combo that had a little bit of everything on it (ribs, turkey tips, chicken, beef, etc.), and I had their steak tips, because I am a sucker for good steak tips.

The food all came in pretty big portions, but my overall reaction remains "ehhhh." The meat that my brother got was overcooked and dry. The pasta wasn't special -- just ziti with some marinara over it (and I'm sorry, but the sauce wasn't that great). All in all, I was just underwhelmed.

I will probably return and get something different next time, but for the moment, living close to Floramo's is not something I can kinda-sorta brag about anymore.

My favorite dive restaurant.  Salad could use some help but the ribs and tips are awesome.  Denis is the best waiter ever and the whole place is full of charaters.  Yes it is located in a dump like Chelsea, yes the decor isn't 5 star, but the food is great for the price. By far my favorite hole in the wall where you can feel comfortable eating some great steak tips while in sweatpants.

Floramos is the best Italian restaurant I have ever tried. I used to hate linguini, but after I tried the linguini from this place I couldnt get enough. Let me list off the good things:

-Their meatballs are FANTASTIC
-Linguini's FANTASTIC
-Their prices are pretty low, but the portions are pretty damn big.
- Their Italian dressing on their salad is homemade, and I swear to God, its the freaking best. I want it. I want to bathe in it. If I was a whore, I would douche with it.
- Their tomato sauce is also homemade and very good.
-Ribs and steak tips are freaking awesome, and so is their veal.
-Their bread is so-so.

The only thing preventing me from giving this place 5 stars is the service, its very inconsistent. The first few times we went, the service was cold, and not very friendly. Not unfriendly, but not friendly either. Then we got a wench of a woman who would always give us an attitude, and actually counted our money for the bill IN FRONT OF US, as if we were gonna dine-and-dash. This little stunt made us not come back for a few months. I tried it again a coupla weeks ago, and this time the service was awesome. We got an effeminate guy named Dennis, who was cool as shit. He actually flipped us off twice during the meal, and he was hilarious. If the servers were more like Dennis, I would definitely give this place 5 outta 5.

LOVE IT!

I love the babyback ribs. You have to try it. The steak tips is the second best thing on the menu (medium rare ok). If done perfectly, meaning they did not accidentally overcook your steak tips, then you're in for a really awesome treat. It will melt like butter in your mouth. One of my favorite place for ribs and steak tips. You could probably make better pasta and salad at home.

This is one of my favorite places to eat.  If elegant dining is what you're after, don't go here, because there's nothing elegant about it, unless you consider dining by the soft glow of a neon sign high style.

Once you make it past the line for the Keno machine, you will be greeted by your host/hostess with a "youse guys here for dinner?" and lead to a booth with cushions that have seen better, more comfortable days, situated in the LOUDEST dining room you've ever encountered.   The reason for that is because Floramos is packed, and the reason for THAT is because the food is amazing.  Mostly standard  Italian fare, big portions, reasonably priced.

The restaurant is known for their ribs ("Where the meat falls off the bone"), but I don't think  you can make a bad choice from the menu.  I especially like the seafood stuffed portabella mushrooms.  Its an appetizer, but so good and satisfying, I sometimes order it as my meal.     You can expect a decent bottle of chianti, plenty of crusty bread and fresh garden salads too.

Oh and don't let the name fool you, Floramos Fifth Avenue Restaurant is NO WHERE near Fifth Avenue, its not even in New York!  Its on Everett Avenue, which is NOT in Everett, its in Chelsea... never mind, just Mapquest it....

I always go back to this place! Whenever the wife and I try a new place we wind up saying " we should have just gone to Floramos"

The only negative experience I have ever had here was one time it was crowded and the waitress was seating us and the owner Tommy literally pushed pass us with a different party and stole our table.  The owners rudeness aside he has put together a decent place. Also someone else posted about him and they are right the waiter Dennis is GREAT! Funny guy always friendly we actually request to be seated in his section when we go

I wonder what human ribs slow cooked to perfection with delicious barbecue sauce would taste like. They would be bigger than baby back pork ribs. Would the meat fall off the bone? We'll never know.

ps. The meat here was cheap, good and fell off the bone(onto my lap)

pps. I ate it anyway and a strange lady with big hair helped me.

Ain't much else in Chelsea. . .

I've only ever had barbecued meats in here (ribs, steak tips, chicken) and never been disappointed.  Like a previous reviewer said, nothing fancy about this place, but you should be able to tell that by its fab location and the bars on the windows.

Holy S!  I was given a plate of pasta that's twice the size of my head!  Don't get me wrong, I love pasta and creamy alfredo sauce, and I'd eat the whole thing, but it was not very palatable.  The sauce was clumpy, the seasoning was off, and the overcooked pasta sticking together too much too.  I wish there were some veggies like broccoli thrown in, just to make the dish a bit more exciting.  It was a bit sad looking.

A goose egg for ambiance.  It's a ghetto area, don't even complain.  You do get to eat under Tiffany neon lamps!  So if you happen to land yourself in Chelsea for whatever reason, do come try the ribs and steak tips and such, as those are what they boast about.  However, I can't make a rec for the meats personally because I'm a veggie.  The staff can be a bit more friendly as well.

Floramo's!  Flooooramoooooo's!!  Where the meat... Falls off the bone!!!

I have heard about Floramos for years. I took my Mum and my wife here tonight, for Mother's Day, a day early. I was very disappointed, the waitress was very snide,  I asked if I could substitute something on the menu. She stated in a rather crass tone, "We don't allow substitutions." I told her that I'd need a few more minutes to decide, she had already taken my Mum's and my wife's order. Their dinners came with a salad, she returned with the salads, then asked me if I was ready to order. I looked over at their salads and laughed. I told the waitress I was okay, and didn't order any food. Their "salads" were a plate of lettuce with a few micro thin onions and one cherry tomato. I just laughed, and shook my head.  The waitress gave me a dirty look. I just had an iced tea. Which I finished quickly. After we ate, I asked my mum & wife if they wanted anything else, I states no. I attempted to flag the waitress down for our bill. Four times I attempted. At this point, I was incredibly annoyed. I stopped her and said that I want my bill now, I then got up and went to the register to pay my bill. The waitress walked up to me and handed me a pen, which I politely thanked her for. She then stared at the credit card receipt, looking on as if to figure out how much of a tip I'd leave her. She smiled as I put the pen down on the receipt, then I put a line through the tip space. She really frowned at that. Well, l felt she didn't deserve the tip. On a brighter note, the food did look decent, but the quality of service was horibble. In short, I won't be giving Floramos my return business. It's a joke.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place, as it was better than I originally expected. With that though, there were still a lot of areas that need improvement.
First, the service was horribly slow. I can understand when it's really busy, but our waitress was chatting away with coworkers as we were waiting and waiting and waiting to pay the bill.
My sister has mashed potatoes with her meal and wouldn't eat them because she could tell they were instant. My sister is far from a food snob, even my three year old nephew wanted nothing to do with them.

OK, on the good side. Portions were huge and prices were fantastic. For example, my boyfriend got the sausage and pasta dinner. It was a homemade sausage, with a huge plate of pasta and a salad for $8. In total the bill for five adults and one child was only $70 and everyone went home with leftovers!

I would definitely try this place again, I just wouldn't want to go here for a romantic evening out. Great for families as the noise level is semi-loud so kids aren't a problem at all.

If you've got out of town visitors who crave meat and more meat, then be sure to bring them to Floramo's.  It's an Italian-type restaurant with the most scrumptuous steak tips in the world.  Drive under the bridge, cross the tracks, take a trip to the po' side of town, because Floramo's, though tacky, outdated, and suspiciously lacking in breathable air, serves up some fabulous food!

Crowded and noisy but hella worth it.  Stiff competition from New Bridge, but it's always a tie as far as I'm concerned.  Come for the tips and salad and you won't be disappointed.  If you want pasta, go to the North End, right?

In the mood for tips or ribs?...this is your place.  Don't expect anything fancy but for the price, the portions are great and most come with salad, starch and vegi.  Not a bad deal.  Last couple of times I was there, I got the mixed grill...pork, turkey tips and steak tips...absolutely delicious!  They are closed on Sundays and parking can sometimes be tight.

I am a culinary art student and enjoy the experience of different restaurants. When i was going to floramos i didnt want to because i didnt like the neighborhood. When i got there i was happy to find that it was right close to everette next to a school. The food was tremendouse. I ate the ribs and needed a fork and knife. i never saw a place outside of tv where the meet falls off the bone. Another thing i saw that amazed me was every waitress and waiter had their own style of doing things. They all help eachother when its jammed. I look at them like a good solid crew. With my ribs i got pasta it was the best tomatoe sauce i ever had. Just like my mother cooks. This is definetly one of my key restaraunts because now i wanna get a job and learn how they prepare those ribs so good. Thats not all they have to they have seafood chicken steak tips and probably any thing else you could want after a hard days work. I came at lunch time and they actually gave me the option to have lunch or dinner.
