I'm not a San Fran local.. I'm so lost here all the time. I called Flight001 and said I'm kinda of lost and how do I get to your store? Ok, I know i'm lame when it comes to directions and Rebecca was so pissed at me that I didn't bring the GPS. We finally arrived and I was running so late for a flight out that I needed to get a simple overhead bag and within 5 minutes, I was out of the store with such a cool travel bag. I spent a bit more than I wanted, but I'm traveling for the next 6 months back and forth to NY so its worth it... i hope.  Rebecca said, quality remembered long after price is forgotten. I'm packed and wanted to thank Flight 001 for taking great care of me!

U guys rock!

This store has great offerings you won't find in many other places and certainly not under one roof so 4 stars for selection but a negative star for service/attitude.

So Flight 001 is a mini chain with other stores in CA & NYC. Having been in several of their retail outlets across the nation I can attest that although the space and offerings are similar, the store in Hayes Valley definitely scores a negative star for their higher than thou attitude which is a shame because they have a great selection. Frankly I never thought I'd see the day when service in NYC would trump San Francisco but having had the misfortune of visiting this SF outpost several times I feel absolutely no remorse in stating that the staff here could not even be bothered to acknowledge your presence on this planet even though they may happen to be paid-by the hour as they obviously must not get any comission-to pretend to perform this demeaning task.  Whether you are spending $20 or several hundred you can expect the "I can't be bothered, if you need something and you don't see it out why don't you just order it online and leave me alone" attitude.

If you're in the Bay area go to the Berkeley store as the staff there is certainly much more helpful and actually seem to remember that yes they are employees and that they are there to help the public and yes unbelievably "do sales" as opposed to the staff at the Hayes Valley store who obviously believe that attending to customers is waaayyy beneath them.

I am absolutely infatuated with this store. I swear as soon as I walk in, I feel a huge rush and want to buy everything! Mostly things that I don't REALLY need, but who cares, it's cute!! (and very useful of course).

This store has the coolest knick knacks for a true jet setter .  All of the luggage/organizational items are perfectly coordinated, so you will always fly in style!

how does place stay in business...i know it isn't Holy Intervention. Little pre packed kits and cutesy carry ons?  When I worked for corporate they sent me all over the country and even when the money was flowing I wouldn't have splurged on this nonsense.  But I did see a cute Hello Kitty carry on of for my niece.

Very cool store that screams 'hip, cool hunter stuff!'  It would be, too, at about a 1/3 the price.  The awesomeness is diminished when the price on a nylon shoe bag is $15.  And that pretty much sums it up.  Great stuff, over priced.

I need to get away.

Away from bs.  Away from some people.  Away from a lot of things that have kept my mind in a somewhat befuddled mess this past week.  However, some things have a tendency to bring my spirits back up and over the - sign.

Little things.

A nice steak dinner.  A large cappuccino in the company of good friends.  A mesmerizing photo opportunity in a crowded cafe.  A pleasant chat with a stranger.

And a gift from Flight 001.

Streamlined, succinct and visually pleasing items of wanton compact fancies and multi-faceted-tasked travel savers.  Bags.  Totes.  Mini paks.  Uniqueness at an attainable price.

My gift was a cd case that was chosen carefully by a friend aware of my week and I must admit, when the vivid fruit color greeted me upon opening, it lifted my spirits tenfold.  They knew me too well.  The case was perfectly modern and aligned with my sense of style.

I'm personally taken by the Orla Kiely book bags....gorgeous and classic, the perfect accompaniment when I'm off to my favorite cafe with the usual armload of books disguised and slung beautifully over my shoulder.

Moderate prices and an instant pick-me-up.

Thank you, R, for that!

I don't understand people who knock this place for carrying expensive luggage.  Luggage *is* expensive.  If you want cheap luggage you're going to have to go to Walmart or Target or something.

I bought a suitcase here.  After a few months, the handle broke off.  I brought it back and the friendly staff sent it away for repairs, free, and gave me a beautiful loaner to pass the time.  No sweat.

This place is also great for browsing, gift-shopping, etc.

Dangling above your cool store window sill
I saw something so beautiful that gave this City gal chills
It wasn't shiny or electronic but something kinda essential
It's made of fabric and leather and has so much potential
Stylish in every way possible
Acquiring one could be akin to an episode of Mission Impossible
Its maker initials are OK
I wonder if one is owned by Tina Fey?

But for now, I'll admire you from afar
And save my pennies in a jar
For you.

Until we meet again.

(hint:  it's rhymes with...verse)

Very fun. This store is great for the regular traveler who wants to add a little color and whimsy to their travels or as a source for unique gifts with character.

Take the time to peruse the shop and explore all the cool little things it has to offer. If you have questions, do ask the staff, they can provide good insight on how to travel more comfortably and/or in style.

They have a good selection of fun cameras that is worth a look.

I can't help but feel chic when I enter a store like Flight 001.

The sleek and modern decor. The edited selection of travel books. The great sale area. They even had a selection of awesome watches.

Yes it's expensive, yes its perhaps a little over the top, but when I enter into Flight 001 I feel like I am about to jet set somewhere exciting and there are very few stores that can evoke a response in my psyche like that.

Oh Jesus Christ I want everything in here. I love anything & everything related to travel and being clean & fashionable while doing so. Mostly because it is so hard to do so.

-1 star since all I got when I left here was a dissatisfied feeling that I have not left this state in nearly a year. And it will probably be another 7-8 months before I actually do. Damn credit card debt.

Whenever I travel, I always make a trip to Flight 001(you would think that I have everything that I need by now).  I've bought: a suitcase with four rollers which makes maneuvering a breeze and fun!, great deals when on sale; fashionable carry-on bags and toiletries bags; colorful passport holders; easy to spot luggage tags.

I've been eyeing an Orla Kiely wallet that I might just have to pick up.  I also love perusing through the Timeout books.  For a fairly small store, I can spend a lot of time here:)

Traveling is so wonderful and and this shop makes it cool as it can get!. They have all the little items that will make traveling a bit more enjoyable and easier to manage as well as a wide selection of travel books by Lonely Planet. I got some funny luggage tags for whatever trip I venture on next.

Did some one say gadgets!?  Travel doo-dads galore in such a tiny, cute, shop.  I came in here looking for a douchey, fun laptop sleeve.  The salesperson said that they were a low in stock, on the size I needed.  So, they didn't have the douchey I was looking for, but they had some really nice bags, luggage, and other travel gear.  This place made me want to buy a bunch of stuff I didn't need, just because I like to play with things, and in hopes of getting the old man to enjoy traveling - I'll just drug him with Ambien next time were on a flight, so I can play with travel gadgets in peace.

Yet another great little store to spend some quality time window shopping.  Does it count as window shopping when you're actually in the store?  Obviously you'll find all your travel needs here, but amped up and way cooler than the plastic containers you'll find at the drug store.  And the people that work there are generally nice and helpful.

You don't need to be a world traveler to benefit from this store.  I just bought a set of travel size shampoo/conditioner/soap containers with a vacuum pump that I use for the gym.  It totally beats having to look for my favorite products in minis...I can just fill and refill.  Saves on a lot of wasted plastic.

Products can be a bit pricey, but the lines they carry are top-notch so you pay for what you get.  I'm sorry, but if you're looking for a Freitag bag - you're gonna have to fork over some cash whether its here or any other store.

Definitely worth a trip...and maybe it will inspire one too.

This store is so mod! It's in the cutest little neighborhood that I didn't know existed and will definitely be coming back to sometime soon.

When I walked in there, between the bright setup and the girl behind the counter with the awesome eyeliner, I felt like I stepped into a Progressive commercial (don't worry, I mean that as a compliment!)

I was looking for a sleep mask to block out the light in my morning sun facing apartment. The very helpful sales girl directed me to the most perfect (and blissfully comfortable) eye masks ever, the hot pink Lights-Out one with the eye holes for REM sleep. Serious score, I sleep amazing now.

Next time I fly, I'm definitely coming back for some accessories. They have everything you could possibly want when you fly, and smart things you never even thought about. I'm still pinning over their gorgeous piece of Cherry Blossom hard luggage, and more luggage is the last thing I need.

Definitely worth a stop either to buy something specific or to have some fun browsing a little bit.

One minute in Hayes Valley, next minute in Clockwork Orange...

This store is trinket heaven to me. (harp music playing)

I could spend hours here..well.. maybe an hour and half, but still that speaks volumes  cause I'm a devoted shopper to the online industry.

So many cool travel accessories to look , touch , and play with. I could go bonkers in here!

Even if you're not going on a trip anytime soon, this place is worth checking out. I've had the luck to visit when the "Pan Am flight attendant posing as a sales person" had LOTS to say about the products in the store. We had so much fun! I ended up buying a Mimobot Flash drive "Pirate Nemo" - 40 bucks..

Yeah, I know, a hefty price, BUT Nemo came with a little "zip up" outfit to protect his little flash drive bum...

So cute!

Anyway, go here if you're planning a trip and looking for uber cool travel gear.

Heck, just go there if you just want uber cool gear. The trip can wait.

Flight 001 is one of these stores where I always wonder how many people actually buy things as opposed to the number of people browsing.  One of these days, I hope to be paid as a consumer consultant and spend hours just watching, researching and writing papers on consumer habits of Americans which would be some kind of anthropological field guide to our odd post-modern life.  I will be the Levi-Strauss of consumerism.

But academic post-modern fantasies aside, onto the actual store.  If you are looking to spend a lot of money on fantastic looking suitcases, this is the place.  It also turns out that they have a decent selection of computer bags.  I've long been looking for a simple but pretty computer sleeve that I could use to carry my laptop in a tote (which I prefer over the bulky laptop bag I am currently using).  For $35, a red computer sleeve with a companion neoprene bag for the wire and other computer accessories.  Perfect and reasonably priced.

Also, good store to buy pretty much any travel guide book, the little boxes for pills, your toiletries, etc.  Or you could just browse like so many people.

Clockwork Travel Store?

This place is so well laid out.  Everything is so pretty and expensive.  Holy crap.  This is the type of store that is worth slipping into to look at what is sexy in travel.

The staff was teetering on snobby/naive/nice.  Strange, but true.  The area is great and this is the type of place you want stop by while waiting on a table at a nearby restaurant or if you want to experience what a travel shop would look like in the Clockwork Orange movie.

Don't half step.  Stop in here while shopping or dining in the area.

I'd read about Flight 001 a while back, but just hadn't gotten the chance to visit until about a week ago.  Everything in the store made me want to pack up, run to the airport, and get on the first plane to somewhere exotic and tropical.  Unfortunately, that won't happen since the American Express in my wallet is green rather than black.

Oh well, its still good to have fantasies- it gives you something to work toward.  In any case, you can always indulge in those fantasies by looking through the various Time Out guides and books.  Even a pedestrian business trip can always be made livelier by the chic pieces of luggage Flight 001 sells, or even by getting one of the cool passport holders and luggage tags if your budget is tighter.

All in all, a great travel store.   A little spendy for my budget now, but I'll be back once I jump up to those higher income brackets!

Wanted to buy something for a a part time employee who was leaving for Hong Kong for six months but didn't find anything great. Wanted to spent a few hundred and be done with it and although the staff was helpful with ideas right up to closing time, there aren't too many great purchases at that price.

When you travel next, this is definitely the place to go to make sure you didn't  forget anything.  I certainly will.

My passport is one of my most prized possessions, and I'm always dreaming of my next sojurn.  Unfortunately, 70% of my travel each year is for work.

I want to like Flight 001.  As a concept, this store was made just for me.  However, I never see anything I really want here.  I guess I prefer utilitarian to stylish when it comes to my travel gear. They sell guidebooks, but many of them (Time Out and Lonely Planet) can be found at Borders or other mainstream bookstores. I did purchase a Wallpaper City Guide for Hong Kong here. I've not seen this series anywhere else.

It's not the fault of the buyer(s) at Flight 001 that this store has nothing for me. I don't think I am the type of customer they have in mind.

Yep, I'm buying it. I have a couple of frequent fliers on my holiday list, and I was able to stuff their stockings with a quick, painless trip to Flight 001.

The store layout is good with lots of useful and cleverly displayed items. And for the things I picked up and priced and said "well, what a great idea, but I know where I could get this cheaper".....I just went and got 'em cheaper elsewhere.

As other reviewers have noted, the staff here is great. It looked like they were taking a fair amount of unwarranted abuse from hifalutin' harried Hayes Street shoppers and they took it in stride with smiles.

I don't know about you, but stylish luggage gets me all hot and bothered.  Rawr.

See, I walk into the airport, and there's a woman, and she's looking all stylish with her hipper-than-thou luggage and "oh me, i just threw this all together" outfit and nonchalant carefree traveler's attitude, as if life was just some jet-setting vacation to her.  And I want to be with her.  I want to cherish her and make sure all her travel needs are met.

So I go to Flight 001 and I spend all money on chic luggage and international destination guidebooks and frou-frou eyemasks and toiletry accoutrements.

Then I realize, I'm not That Guy.  I'm not slick or suave or sweet or caring.  I'm not jet-setting, and I'm definitely not a metrosexual.  So now, I'm just a dumpy Asian guy with pretentious luggage and a perspiration problem.  But I'm a better person for it, so there!

My best friend Sam, yes we have the same name, lets talk about it now before you start making ridiculous jokes about how we could be in a porn together....told me she needed a new toiletry case. While my first instinct when I hear something like that is "Oh Marshalls," "Oh Ross," or even "Oh REI!" Sam's first instinct is "OMG I know the cutest place in Hayes Valley that you're totally going to love."

I'm sorry, I'm not wearing a tiara...am I? Did someone put one on my head when I wasn't looking? My mouth is silver spoon-less...no? I could have sworn I was eating my $13 egg breakfast with a plastic spork.

So, evidently Sam thought me and overpriced trendy luggage go together like condoms and Saran wrap....because why on god's greed earth would I love this place?

Ok, it's freaking adorable. I give it that. My clothes would look soooo much prettier packed away in one of those polka-dotted titanium  suitcases. But the clothes probably wouldn't fit me after the Top Ramen diet I'd be forced to live off of so I could afford to buy the sexy suitcase. Not to mention the rickets I'd developed from the Top Ramen diet would enable me  from actually being able to lift the trendy luggage.

Ok, the wallets are gorgeous, with buttery leather and buckles that don't break after a day. But If I bought one of those babies the only thing I'd be able to put in it would be my driver's license and my unused credit cards, because I used the last of my saving account to buy the wallet...and cash is so last very last year.

While perusing the toiletry cased selection Sam looks at me and asks "$48 for a case isn't bad, is it?"

As I snorted I replied "I don't know, I think it's funny that you're buying your toiletry case at this fancy boutique in the first place. And yes, $48 does seem a little steep for something your shampoo bottles will eventually explode all over."

She gave me the "what's the big deal eyes" and said "Where else would I get a toiletry case?"

Oh how I love the girl. While I board the plane with my 1970s duffel bag with my family's last name scribbled on the side, Sam is sauntering ever so stylishly on board with matching paisley print suitcases and an air of importance.

I give her some credit though, the woman has some serious style, and if I could afford to have my makeup spill all over a $70 makeup case with poodles embroidered all over it, I just might. But then again....The ones I saw at Ross that look like someone skinned Elmo are pretty hot too.

Every time I wander into this store its just before a major trip, and I almost always leave with something. Either a bag or a stylish case, or some travel trinket I just can't live without but will probably seldom use. Speaking of bags, they do have one of the better selections I have seen in the city, various brands from luggage to laptop sleeves.

I'd recommend anyone planning a trip to give the store a whirl. If being stylish is just as important as getting to where your going... you won't regret it.

"Sir, please place your seat in the upright position and put your tray table up. SIR, PLEASE PLACE YOUR SEAT IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION AND PUT YOUR TRAY TABLE UP! SIR!...SIR!!"

I woke up in a cold sweat. I have fainted in the middle of a sea of plasticine Hideo Wakamatsu luggage. I guess I was so overwhelmed by the vast selection of retro-stewardess bags and designer laptop satchels that I must have passed out. VIVID FLASHBACK: "Oh God...Mayday! Mayday!...There's no one left to fly the plane!!" Where's Charlton Heston when you need him?

Sure, it's pricey, but it doesn't hurt to browse this funky store which is shaped appropriately like fuselage as if you're walking through the cabin of a Pan Am 707. Lots of amusing merchandise here from mod sleep masks to vitamin spray sets to funky books about the nightlife in Reykjavik. I have treated myself to a luggage tag or two in here. And they're terrifically nice in here, and it sure makes a pleasant, airborne pitstop after a weigh-me-down burger at Flipper's or a deep dish pizza at Patxi's.

"We begin our boarding of Flight 001 with those passengers with small children...and those with really cool, funky carry-ons."

I think bags are sexy.

Especially sexy bags big enough to fit my 12-inch ibook but small enough to not look overwhelming on a smallish girl, like the Jack Spade number I got at Flight 001.

To quote Vincent Libretti, "It gets me off."

I mean, no. Ew.

(10-second Project Runway digression: I really wanted to feel bad for Vincent because he's clearly well on his way to being straight up crazy, but if I ever hear him or any designer say his work either turns him on or gets him off again, I will tear out my ears and/or my sex organs in protest.)

So um, to clarify.
My New Bag = sexy.
My New Bag != sexually arousing.

Anyway, I'm really glad Flight 001 exists to satisfy my random sexy bag cravings. Most of the store is various stylish messenger bags, so it was easy to find several that were the right size, color, and level of functionality. I was also pleasantly surprised by the prices -- the bags weren't cheap, but I had expected to spend more.

I did somehow manage to make the shopping experience rather awkward though. The girl working there thought I was leaving and said "Thank you!" when I wasn't actually leaving. At that point I felt kind of obligated to either leave or explain that I wasn't leaving.

The latter of those options seemed REALLY awkward, so I exited the store and did a cursory walk up and down the street before returning. Normally I wouldn't have bothered coming back in that situation, but yeah ... I kind of have a thing for sexy bags.

This place is so fucking cool.

I sometimes take a slight detour going home from the Muni, stopping to look at their latest Comme De Garcon or Tumi collection. This all-in-one travel store features anywhere from cool, hip luggage to what cologne you should wear on an airplane - depending where you're headed, of course. Flight 001 started in NYC, but is turning into a phenomenon nationally, with new stores opening in Chicago and LA. All stores are designed by Design 22, one of the best interior design companies. Meant to look like the London Tube, the lightings are completely in order and the overhead space designed like an airplane.

It's hard to leave this store. Hayes Valley rocks for bringing in the best of the best.

Cool store, some cool laptop bags and travel gizmos.  Travel dictionaries galore.

Always a fun place to visit.

For the first time ever, I, the non-shopper, out-shopped my 2 girlfriends here one lazy Saturday afternoon.

Within seconds of entering, I was dizzy with the displays of little travel necessities in all their compact, yet sturdy glory.  You see, I'm a sucker for things with pockets & zippers & snaps, and handy organizers and such.  I just wanted to look at everything and open it all up to see what clever little self-contained necessity lived inside each package.  Genius product design here, I'm telling you.

In the end, I only bought 1 thing: a new toiletries kit to replace my 15-year old one with the busted zippers.  Perhaps not the most glamorous of purchases, but it has so many zippers and pockets that I'm convinced I haven't even found them all yet.  (*single tear of joy slides down my cheek*)

After my "spell," I looked around the small store, bewildered and confused by the now glaring lack of my two lovely girlfriends.  I emerged from the store to find them sitting on a planter waiting for me.  WAITING FOR ME!  I do believe this is the first time someone else has been done with a store before I was.  That fact alone, catapults this store to the top of the (admittedly small) pile of stores that I will actually suggest frequenting in the future.

From your Evian spray, Orla Kiely luggage, and everything in between, Flight 001 definitely has all your chic travel needs.

No matter where your travel destination is, they have everything you will need (or didn't even know you needed)

Flight 001 to me is like KidRobot is to Nish N.  Possibly.

Lots of interesting, superfluous knick-knacks and well-constructed luggage which I find highly entertaining to browse through and ogle over.

I stopped in here more recently to look for a bucky-type eye mask (a girl needs her beauty sleep, even if the sun *is* out) and, in fact, discovered plush comfy ones made by Bucky, but when push came to shove,  finally decided on this other super comfortable, ergonomic one (the eye part is raised so the mask doesn't push against your lashes -- think training bra...yeah, I know).  They also had a ton of other funky "cheapo" ones.  My personal fave was the hot pink mask that read:

"WAKE ME UP FOR DUTY-FREE"

In today's world of travel, you need to distinguish your black piece of luggage from the other say 400 pieces of the same style, color and make, which you though you would avoid by buying expensive name brand ie: Tumi.  I mean how many other queens have Tumi?......

That's where Flight 001 comes in handy......accessorize!  That's right biatch, get yourself some nice bright luggage straps to identify your luggage from that of the hoe with the camel toe with her leopard print, faux fur, knee length trench coat.  god forbid you walk off with her luggage!

So unless you buy all designer originals in a size large, don't buy the baby blue straps...I don't want to end up with your  sorry ass luggage.

Oh did I mention that the LUXE Guides to Travel are also a must for the seasoned traveler, who enjoys the finner things in life!

I've shopped at Flight 001 a lot over the years and ALWAYS find great things.

Today I bought a seriously sexy silver TUCANO slim case for my Apple.  It even says, "for Apple" on the outside of the packaging.  Not too expensive either. . .

Can't wait to run through airports with my sexy new laptop case.

Yeah Flight 001. . .saving the world of design one laptop case (or piece of luggage) at a time!
