6 reviews for Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar
Love it. I order the filet, it's always perfect. Love the wedge salad, served with a chilled fork. The wait staff are supremely attentive, without hovering. The decor is refined and handsome, but not stuffy.
What ever you do, save room for the Chocolate Lava Cake, it's the best desert on planet earth, maybe the Milky Way.
You Can't go wrong.
For the price I paid, this was a disappointment.
Positives:
The ambiance was nice and the service was good.
The crab cakes were done well and worth a try.
Negatives:
My girlfriend and I went with another couple and all four of our steaks were cooked improperly. I like my ribeye cooked medium. The cut I received was rare on one end and well done on the other. It made a good 20 or 30% of the steak suck.
I don't care for iceberg lettuce in my salads and the sides were mediocre.
Bottom line: If I'm going to drop $200 in your restaurant, it better be perfect. Not pretty good, not decent, but perfect. Don't give me an unevenly cooked steak and expect me to return.

Took my son and his fiance for an impromptu engagement celebration on a Sunday night. No reservations, walked right in - the place was empty. I have been here before and was looking forward to the meal, however this visit did not live up to expectations. My son and I both had "winter menu" or something like that - filet, salad & desert. Okay, but definitely not up to par. His fiance had scallops and she said they were just okay too. For a $200 meal (1 glass of wine only), I thought the food was mediocre, service pretentious and the whole experience lacking.
I'm not big on chain eateries, but steakhouses are an exception. This includes Fleming's. My husband and I have been a few times with my family, and every time has been great. The service is great and knowledgeable, and the food fantastic. They also have quite an extensive wine list.
The tempura lobster is excellent. It's not just a bite or two of lobster, you actually get about 2 lobster tails worth of tempura, definitely your money's worth. We've had the prime rib and scallops there as well. Some of the best seafood you can find are at steak restaurants, and Fleming's did not disappoint. Australian lobster tails are superb as well. They also have a prime rib special that comes with a salad and a dessert on Sundays that is a good price .
I will say this. If you are from The Woodlands and have lived there a while, be prepared to run into other families that know you.

One of my friend's decided to take my boyfriend and me out to dinner because he lost a Superbowl bet with us (hahaha!). So when we asked where, he said it's a surprise, but you'll definitely enjoy the steak, the drinks, and the desserts. Well, as we drove out towards the Woodlands, I began to look around and there were so many different options (keep in mind, I just moved out to Texas...so everything is new to me). Then he pointed the restaurant out...Fleming's.
We didn't have reservations and at the time we went the wait time for a table for 3 would've been an hour (so I definitely recommend reservations if you go), but luckily there was a booth open in the bar and that area is first come, first serve. We squished our way into the booth and were greeted by our server. The service was great, very personable, and very informative. It almost felt like one of those local bars because everyone was just talking with everyone whether you knew them or not. We placed our orders: mint chocolate martini, clam chowder, king crab legs, beef flemington, boneless prime rib, onion rings, and mashed potatoes.
The chocolate mint martini tasted just like one of those thin mint girl scout cookies...YUMMY!!! Then a starter of crostini with olive tapenade...also very delicious way to start the meal. Then the main courses started to arrive...oh my!!! I can just say that everything tasted great. I am a picky eater in the sense of flavors and way things are cooked, but the prime rib was cooked perfectly. It was tender and had just the right amount of seasonings. The beef flemington was pretty good, but I only had a bite of it, so I can't really give my opinion on it. There was plenty of meat in the crab legs and my friend said they were good. The onion rings were huge and the jalapeno aioli was a great condiment to go with the sweetness of the onions. The mashed potatoes were ok. I wished they were a little bit more creamy and had more of the garlic flavor that they were supposed to. To finish it off, we had the Chocolate Lava Cake served with vanilla ice cream and homemade whipped cream. MmmMmm good...and rinse it down with one of their after dinner drinks...perfect way to end dinner.
All in all...great place to go out and treat yourself to good food and drinks just be ready to spend the money.

Knowing the name of the beef ancestries up to the XXII century doesn't justify the 38 dollars for a fillet mignon. Same service, same wine and same fillet without the family component would have been a 4 stars
