My favorite cocktail her is: Margatini. Margarita and Martini at the same time. AMAZING.
My favorite entree: filet mignon here, incredibly good.
Happy Hour: The happy hour menu is also great -- the burger is insane! And the prices are very good! One thing though, Happy hour is 4 - 6 pm, I think. Ridiculous. Who closes happy hour at 6 pm? Still, if you get there early enough -- order a few and stick around for a bit. =P
Oh, just a tip! They validate if you eat dinner there. They won't validte for happy hour, though.
I came here last night after a Laker win. Technically I think they were closed but there were a lot of people in there so we walked in and asked if the kitchen was still open and they checked and said yes.
We sat in the bar area and my husband ordered a steak sandwich [rare] and I ordered a Caesar Salad with extra anchovies.
I noticed while we were waiting they were still allowing people to come in and order from the full menu even though it was past 10pm when they close which is great but they were still doing some good business.
Our sandwich and salad arrived and my husbands steak WAS as ordered rare which if you like rare steaks it is difficult to get a restaurant to get the steak cooked as ordered.
I really wanted a bit of his sandwich but I stole one of those actually both of those huge onion rings on his plate (they are very lightly tempura like batter, not greasy and huge...yum). My salad was very good I wish they used white anchovies but most restaurants or should I say hardly any restaurant have white anchovies.
Oh a shout out to Chuck. He was our server.
Sorry, I don't get why Fleming's gets such good reviews. The boyfriend and I made reservations to come here before a Laker game and were pretty disappointed (not to mention the Lakers lost, but I digress).
I was still feeling pretty full from lunch so I ordered the crab cake appetizer while he had their Fall prix fixe dinner. The crab cake was pretty standard-- I blame myself for having the one @ Oceannaire (in SD) which is beyond amazing. Like mindblowingly orgasmic. Sorry, I digress. Anyway, the crab cake was on par with anything you can find in other places-- a little too much breading and as a result, a little dry.
He started off with a salad (which our waiter was kind enough to split into two portions so I could have some as well). It was your standard salad with tomatoes, bits of olive, and blue cheese. It was light and flavorful; a nice way to start off the dinner. The filet mignon was tender and juicy, perfectly cooked. I've never seen it done in a kabob style-- served with onions, mushrooms, and peppers. Not bad! The cream corn was alright but not the best I've had. Putting in the jalapeno was an unusual mix between the spicy and sweet. Interesting! However, dessert was a pass. The chocolate cake with almonds was way too sweet and artificial tasting.
The reason it's a two in my book is because the filet mignon was really the only highlight of the meal. Everything else I could find anywhere else, and for much cheaper. For a fine-dining restaurant like Fleming's I expected more creativity and originality.
P.S. They don't allow you to bring takeout into Staples Center, we found out the hard way. :(
Service was great, made reservations online and received $25 credit toward my bill. Brian, out server, was awesome and courteous. He recommended the lobster tempura and for good reason, it was bomba. Wifey had the scallops I had the lamb.....both were cooked to perfection. Will come back again to celebrate a special occasion.
I'm such a huge fan of this restaurant and this particular location... they remember me when I go in there, and we always are seated in a nice area of the restaurant.
I just really love the way they season their meats. There's nothing worse than a bland steak. We went for DineLA, and we weren't disappointed. My friend stuck with the Fall Prix Fixe menu, and I had the filet trio that was on the DineLA menu.
Let me just say, so much food, and SO GOOD. I started with the salad. I don't really remember it, so it must have been pretty standard. But then came the entree... Well plated, there was bordelaise, Wellington, and au poivre. Mmmmmm.... I'd have to say that the au poivre was my favorite of the three, but each piece was cooked the way that I wanted it and had great flavor even without the sauces.
My side was the broccoli with brown butter, and my dessert was a trio of creme brulee. I'm not a huge fan of creme brulee in general, but you've got to try the caramelized banana creme brulee. It's so creamy and light. Yum.
I love the service we get at this restaurant. I know that there are steakhouses in LA with greater reputations, but we get such great attention at Fleming's. We've never had a bad meal there, they will validate, and I intend to keep going back. Plus, we might still have some money in the bank after a night at Fleming's. :)

I was so excited to go to the new Fleming's Steakhouse. A friend took me last night as a belated… Read more »
Considering I usually do not enjoy Steakhouses, due to the dislike of red meat, I try to steer away. It sounds silly to order fish at a steakhouse. In this case, I was obviously with company that enjoyed a good steak.
Service was excellent.
My "special of the day" Ono fish was cooked perfectly, and had the right amount of flavor while still capturing the true flavor of the fish. The asparagus that was ordered on the side was very fresh.
OMG the appetizers - crab cakes - YUMMY
the lobster tempura - a DEF MUST!
when desert came around, I asked if they had anything, "Healthy" They did offer fresh berries, in which I asked if I could ONLY have strawberries. And they said yes!
I def would go back next time I'm in the LA area.
MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. I walked away shaking my head and craving a steak from Ruths Chris. I missed the using of the last name with Mr. or Mrs. maybe because we looked like two young kids going out for a grown up dinner and the waiter was uncomfortable calling him a Mister.
Since we were catching a Kings game (GO DUCKS GO)...we skipped any appetizers and ordered two sides and our main. I ordered the regular rib eye and requested the side sauces with the chipotle mac and cheese. Sounded kind of funny, but willing to try it. My friend ordered the teriyaki new york strip...which to me, doesn't sound very good, (teriyaki?! at a steakhouse?!) and he wanted the potatoes au gratin.
My steak...? just a slab of meat. Even the three side sauces could not save my steak..it was plain, bland..I believe a damn good piece of meat should be able to stand on its own..without any sauces....NOT good. My friend's...was HORRIBLE. He ordered it medium well and it came pretty red. The sauce, was a bit off and just didn't compliment the steak at all.
My mac and cheese. EH. Corkscrew pasta, not too cheesy and you can't really taste any kind of heat or kick. The potatoes au gratin was dry and not very au gratin.
Halfway through our meal, the waiter came to offer the chocolate molten cake which is to be ordered early for cook time. I was excited, hoping it would offset the disappointing meal we had..and....it didn't. Not at all the what I wanted...sure it was warm and gooey, but it didn't have the taste of CHOCOLATE...like the richness of good quality chocolate. The homemade whipped cream was good. I think I had more of that...Overall, I would NOT come back...Ruth's Chris is still on the top of my list..hands down. !
First time eating for DineLA's restaurant week! My roommates and I went here for nice dinner at LA Live, and after parking at the garage (which was strangely $25 for self parking and $10 for valet for 2 hours...I think there was an event going on last night).
We got the full menus but told our waiter after flipping through it and their other Winter Pre-fixe Menu that we'd be going with the DineLA option, and soon afterwards we were served the DELICIOUS BREAD (rosemary bread with sundried tomato spread and champagne infused brie spread...sooooo good), and then the first course which was a trio of sliced tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. We had to ask for balsamic vinegar but the first course was very good.
Next: we all ordered our steaks medium rare and were wondering how big the portions would be, since it was trio of 3 filet mignons. But no worries, when the plates came out, they had substantial 4 oz servings of each steak! The three types were:
- Wellington, with mushrooms in puff pastry & madeira sauce
- Oscar, topped with asparagus, lump crab & béarnaise sauce
- Au Poivre, with peppercorn sauce & roasted peppers
My steaks were perfectly cooked - it sliced well and melted in my mouth for some juicy flavor, and the three options gave me some variety in taste. The Oscar also came on top of mashed potatoes, and we got sides of broccoli in brown butter with roasted tomatoes and garlic so we got some veggies in there too.
We had to wait a little for our dessert, but it was well worth it - a trio of three crème brûlées that were in little cups that gave us enough portion to taste and enjoy it. There was vanilla bean with raspberry sauce, dark chocolate with white chocolate shavings, and fresh banana. It all came with a side of fresh whipped cream, which was delicious with the crème brûlées. Our favorite by far was the banana - tasted slightly of rum, and it wasn't too rich (like the chocolate which was too heavy) or too plain (like the vanilla bean was). I'm not too huge a fan of crème brûlée, but it was yum!!
Our waiter was kind of awkward and weird (he sounded very unenthusiastic), but several managers came around to make sure we were having a pleasant evening which meant that they were pretty concerned with good service. Our total for the night was about $58/person ($44 per person for the pre-fixe, then tax and tip) which was definitely worth the 3 course dinner. Next time I'm looking for a place for a nice steak dinner, I'll put Flemings on my list of options besides Mortons and Ruth Chris!
I don't get why people like this place. I will say that we had a phenomenal waitress but other than that, the experience was not good. I went with my boyfriend to try the pre-fix dinners being served for LA Dine week. I ordered the filet medallions which first came to the table totally cold as if they were pre-cooked and the chef forgot to fire them. So, when I returned them, they came back hot but cooked a bit more medium than my taste.
My boyfriend ordered the fish special, an Ono. It was overcooked and tough.
I've also eaten at Roy's which is owned by the same company and the experience was similar, great staff, so-so food.
There are too many amazing restaurants in LA to give this place another chance.
The rosemary bread with two spread selections is delicious. My husband & I ordered bone-in filet, bone-in rib eye, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes with blue cheese. When we cut the steak, we were like "Wow~ so tender and juicy!" It is excellent! We were too full to order the chocolate cate, but we will definitely try it next time. The service is good and attentive. Fleming's validates parking @ the LA Live for 2 hours. Bonus - we received a complimentary box of chocoalte truffles for our anniversary. The hostess and the server both remembered and wished us happy anniversary.
Went to Fleming's for a DineLA event. The filet mignon n creme brûlée were made to perfection. Service was great!
I'm rating my experience at this particular Fleming's very highly. Me and my friend both ordered the bone in fillet, a cut I've never had before, and it was divine. I recommend trying to sit in Big Mike's section, he did a great job for us. I usually order a steak medium rare but Mike convinced us that for this cut rare was the way to go and boy was he right! I've never had a steak that rare but it was excellent. We also ordered the fries and onion rings and that was a surprisingly good paring with the steak. Also I recommend the lava cake, but here that should go without saying.
Overall I give the Flemings chain a four but on Tuesday night they definitely out did themselves! Five stars!
Sorely disappointed when I came here for dineLA ($44). Service was great but for the price I paid, I expected the food to be sooo much better. Started with a Mozzarella & Tomato salad. It was good but not exactly a dish you can mess up on. My entree was a trio of filet mignon (medium rare). My steaks were all cooked differently (only got 1 medium rare) and the meat quality was just not good. I've had better filet at Outback for half the price. One of my filet was on top of a pile of hardened mashed potatoes...I could have cut it into cubes and served it on skewers. My entree came with a side of sauteed garlic broccoli...didn't think it was anything special. After eating my not-so-great entree, I was really excited for my trio of creme brulee (I LOVE creme brulee). It looked mighty cute & tasty when it arrived but once I cracked that sugar shell...all downhill. The creme brulee was waaay undercooked. It was so watery that when I barely tilted my spoonful of brulee, it dripped all over the place. Only the chocolate one was good.
So I thought maybe they were just swamped with dineLA orders and made too many ahead of time...giving reason to my bad entree & dessert. But my bf got their special prime rib eye of the day ($50!!) He loves rib eye and said it was bad quality meat. So the verdict is...if you want steak, there's plenty of other steakhouses in the same price range that won't disappoint.
In the grand scheme of things, Fleming's is not the best steakhouse in Los Angeles; not even close (that honor goes to Cut). But, overall, I enjoyed my experience at Fleming's and would go back again.
Two things really impressed me. First, the front desk tells your waiter what your last name is so, when the waiter first meets you, he or she addresses you as "Mr. Jones" or whatever your name is. Although it's a small thing, it did not go unnoticed. Second, the bread they serve you at the beginning is excellent. Specifically, it's a soft rosemary bread that is served with a brie spread and a sundried tomato spread. I've never asked to take home bread from a restaurant before, but this time I did. Luckily, the waitress obliged.
On a curious note, I found it odd that a restaurant that focuses so much on wine (of their 6 page menu, 4 pages are dedicated to wine and 2 pages are for food and appetizers), used the same wine glass for both red and white wines. Anyways, I digress ...
As for the food, it's above average, but not spectacular. I'll start with the starters. I was very disappointed with the caesar salad. It had no kick whatsoever and the croutons were soggy; stay away if you can. The french onion soup was good (never really had a bad french onion soup), but I didn't like the bowl it was served in. The bowl was wide and shallow, making it difficult to dive into.
For the main course, I tried the new york strip steak. I was happy with the steak and would have no qualms eating it again. Tender and flavorful, cooked to a beautiful medium. No issues for me.
Turning to the sides, I sampled the blue cheese mashed potatoes and the chipotle mac & cheese. I must say, more steakhouses should offer blue cheese mashed potatoes. The flavor of the blue cheese complemented the steak very well. As for the mac & cheese, I probably wouldn't order it again. It tastes good, but the aftertaste tastes exactly like Lays bbq chips. Why pay $10.00 for that taste when you can go to the grocery store and pick up a bag of chips for much less?
Finally, for dessert, I had the molten lava cake. I gotta say, I've had better. In my opinion, there was too much cake and not enough gooey goodness. On the plus side, it's served with two scoops of vanilla ice cream topped with chopped pistachios and all the whipped cream you could want.
In the hierarchy of steakhouses, I'd put Fleming's way below Cut and Mastro's, just below Ruth's Chris, and ahead of Morton's and Arroyo Chop House. Take that for what you will.
3.5 stars for Fleming's.
I was just here this past weekend with my boyfriend and his colleagues. We were very impressed with their prefix menus. I ordered from there, I got the filet (medium) with the side of mashed potato. The soup of the day was butternut-squash, I think that was the only bad thing about my experience. The soup was kind of sweet, it tasted like baby food a bit. Anywho, for dessert i got the chocolate mousse cake. It was all reasonable. The food was delicious. My bf had the prime-rib, (not from pre-fix menu), it was so juicy and pink. He really enjoyed that as well. He got the volcano lava for dessert, its actually chocolate souffle, and the chocolate was so soft and rich, it melted in my mouth. Truly amazing. Service is great too, after we were seated, they brought out the bread with house special sauce. Five minutes later, they brought out more bread. Quick service, very tentative.
I highly recommend this place if you're in the downtown LA area. Nice, relaxing atmosphere :)
I truly appreciate their smaller menu. The 6 oz, petite filet and potatoes were quite satisfying.
As for everything else, well, it''s just "ok". Good service, however, still only, "ok" in my book. : \
This is a hipper version of Ruth's Chris. The steak and wine idea works well. Don't order a beer or mixed drink here, they have many quality wines to taste. The sides are good. The service should be better for the major money you spend here.
Steak and wine connoisseurs will be satisfied. Come with a few bucks.
Ahhh Flemings Steak House! So i went to Amoeba Music with a friend the other night and after two damn hours driving around L.A. for a late night munch... my friend suggests, "Hey lets go to L.A. Live, there's a bunch of restaurants there.'" Rawr... couldn't he mention that a little bit later!!! So we end up getting there right before midnight and guess what? Every damn restaurant was about to freaking close at L.A. Dead...i mean L.A. Live, so the only thing we seen open was Flemings! So we had to go in and give thee place a try, after all we had no choice! We were sat down and the place was pretty empty for a weekend...well it was a Sunday and almost midnight!
Anyhow, i ordered the calamari as an appetizer, the prime rib as my entree, my friend got the Fillet Mignon. As sides we got Flemings potatoes and the chipotle mac n cheese. The Prime Rib was cooked to perfection and it was freaking delicious, probably one of thee best prime ribs i ever had! The sides were also great, especially Flemings potatoes. The service was great and the meal was well worth it... all i know, if you go to Flemings you need to have some freaking steak, its a must!
Got an email blast about the $10 lunch specials, so wanted to make a trip out of it and check out LA Live for the first time, too.
Well, as the bf said, it was more LA Dead, than LA Live. The place was deserted. I can't even tell if the parking structure was open, or closed, or not open just because there was absolutely no one around there at 11:30 am on a Friday.
We circled the block and decided to park at $4 parking at Figueroa and 11th, right across from Staples. We walked around and there really isn't anything to see. It was kind of sad. I was happy to see that there was a "The Farm" there like they have in Beverly Hills, but I'd rather go to the BH location than here, because I can at least walk around after my meal.
Anyway, we went into Fleming's and were the only ones there. The place is pretty big and I liked that it felt more open than the El Segundo location. I ordered the Prime Rib Dip and bf got the portobello mushroom burger. His came with some coleslaw and cracked potatoes, and mine just came with cracked potatoes, which are kind of like fried roasted potatoes. Really yummy and way better than french fries.
My prime rib was an open face sandwich, and the sandwich was sitting on the au jus. The meat and grilled onions were piled on top of a toasted roll. Since the mushroom burger didn't come with any meat (he and both thought that the mushroom came on top of a meat patty, but it didn't), he took some of my prime rib slices and through it on his burger.
For $10 each, it was pretty good and I'm glad we went, but I doubt I'll be going there again anytime soon. I don't know what the deal with parking was, but I don't think I'd pay $4 again for parking for a $10 meal. Probably would be a good place to eat you had tickets for something at Staples, but not really worth the trip out there to just go eat at one of the restaurants there.
I think, like many of my friends who live in the South Bay, I tend to avoid Downtown LA as much as possible due to the traffic, one-way streets, and expensive parking.
I thought this high-end restuarant was supposed to be a top-notch steak house, I disagree. The well drinks were on the light side, and the appetizer and entree were fair. We ordered the seafood tower (jumbo shrimp was good, everything else was mediocre) for the appetizer. I had the porterhouse steak for an entree. I asked for it to be cooked medium, but it came out medium well. I must say though, the sides were really good, especially the corn, cream of spinach, and mac and cheese. If I knew the sides were that delicious, I would have ordered more sides and no steak - since it wasn't that good anyways. For a dessert, we ordered the chocolate lava cake. It took a REALLY long time for it to come out, so if you decide to order this, let the waiter know when you order your entree! Don't wait until you are finished - you will be sitting there waiting for quite some time. The taste of the lava cake didn't have a WOW factor. Yeah...ok... after you poke it the chocolate flows out, but the taste was similar to the lava cake @ Dennys, but 5x more expensive. It was a good experience, I really don't know what all the hype was about, but unless it were half-off or FREE I don't see myself going again for a steak.
I came here for the dineLA thing with a group of friends. I was super excited to eat here because the prix fixe menu looked excellent. Uhh...yea, it didn't meet my expectations. My prix fixe order came with the butternut squash soup, filet mignon brochettes, side order of creamed corn, and a slice of chocolate mousse cake. The butternut squash soup was alright. It was sweet and tangy...not really my kind of thing since I prefer salty food over sweet food. But I didn't have high expectations of the soup, so it was alright. Then the filet mignon brochettes came with the side order of creamed corn. I had ordered medium for my filet mignon, but they came to me burnt w/ just a hint of redness in the middle. Not to mention that they were really salty too. The creamed corn was semi-decent, but it came w/ some sliced peppers on top and had a bit of a tangy taste. It definitely was crap compared to Lawry's creamed corn. We also had some broccoli side orders...nothing to rave about there. The dessert was too sweet for me, but then again, I'm not really a sweet type of person. Overall, the food was just not worth the $57 I spent. Add to that the $10 parking cost. $67 for subpar steak and average service? No thanks. I'd rather spend that money at Morton's or Ruth's Chris.
Came here for a b-day with a group of 18. We called in ahead for reservations so our seats were set. I had been to the Fleming's in Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga so I expected the same food quality & service in this Flemings. They did not disappoint.
The food: calimari appetizer, my bone-in ribeye, creamed spinach & the chocolate souffle were all delicious. The calimari isn't what you'd expect though. It has more of a sweet & sour flavor so don't expect what you usually get (fried calamari). My only gripe with the bone-in ribeye is that it's $5 more than the boneless ribeye and it has the same amount of flavor as the boneless one. The chocolate souffle was warm and tasty.
The service: we had a group of 18. EIGHTEEN. The service was fantastic. There was at least a waiter or a manager there oversee that everything was in order.
I'm a huge fan of rib-eye so if you're a fan, you must try Fleming's. I haven't ordered any other steak so I really cannot comment on that.
My first experience with Fleming's was when I went with a friend to try their DineLA menu last winter. We had dinner reservations which I highly recommend you make if you are dining on the weekend. When we got there, we were seated within 10 minutes. Our waiter was very courteous and friendly. He pointed out that in addition to the DineLA menu, they had a seasonal tasting menu which looked just as good if not better than the Dine LA menu and was only a couple bucks more. I was sold. Since I opted for the seasonal menu, I will only review that. The results:
Appetizers:
Crackers with Goat Cheese and Butter Spread - I think this is their version of of bread and butter. I love the goat cheese. Yummy.
Fleming's Salad - Seasonal greens, candied walnuts, dried cranberries, tomatoes and croutons. Pretty good.
Entree:
Filet Mignon Vigneron - One of the best steaks I ever had. I asked for rare and that's what I got. Pink, juicy and flavorful. Served with olive dijon butter and mushrooms forestier. Amazing.
Sides:
Blue Cheese Mashed Potatoes - Pretty good!
Creamed Spinach - Just mediocre.
Dessert:
Ice-Cold Milk and Warm Cookies - Not my ideal dessert at a steak restaurant. Unfortunately, the cookies were overcooked, dry and rock hard. At least the milk was good...
I think what my review boils down to is the steak which truly was delicious. I have yet to try Ruth's Chris, but I imagine Fleming's is comparable. Good stuff.
We tried to eat around the corner, and they were busy so we left and came to Fleming's instead. It was good. Very good. Great wine list with many slections by the glass, unexpected quality selections relying heavily on California, but good stuff nevertheless.
I love that they offer a tiny steak, perfect for me with a smidge of potato. D ordered the plank grilled salmon and it was outstanding. We shared the sauteed corn, and D also had the "BBQ" shrimp for an appie. Not really BBQ, or actually BBQ then thrown into a creamy sauce. Delicious but rich. Same with the corn, actually in a little pool of butter. Tasty though. And the wonderful bread they bring out beforehand comes with a red bell pepper butter and a little dish of light fluffy cheese spread...really tasty.
Everything was great, service, food, wine, etc. Cannot wait to go back. Doubtful that I will go back and eat in the dining room, but the bar is huge with lots of small tables and some TVs for watching the LAKERS win!
After a tour of the Ritz-Carlton residences, my group was treated to appetizers and mojitos, so I give 5 stars for the appetizers and mojito (it was strong).
We had several appetizers and the one that stood out for me was the crab cakes! Yummy, they were excellent and I could have eaten a couple of orders (2 per order) by myself they were that good.
One negative is the parking downtown at LA Live. It's too darn expensive.
Cheers!
Came last night before the Laker game. We usually would have gone to the Palm but we walked by here after parking our car and thought it was closer and we love our Fleming's in Newport......
we sat in the bar and immediately had great service! The food was not so great. Our Wedge salads had so little dressing, I ate it basically dry. Then our NY strip came, we had ordered it medium, it was so well done, not a bit of pink! Yes, we could have sent it back but for $39 it should have came out right! We would definitely take the walk to The Palm next time when we are in this neighborhood.
Obviously failed Restaurant 101.
It pains me to be the bearer of the bad news, but someone must do it.
Service: Fail
So not a fan. The service is horrendous and the entire staff runs around like chickens with their heads cut off not knowing how to handle a small to medium-sized dining crowd. We graciously and patiently waited for 15 minutes to get a table and assumed the restaurant was just packed. Note we were the ONLY people waiting. Once we were escorted to our table, we were surprised to see at least 7 open tables. Tragically, our patience was not rewarded and we were seated at the worst table in the restaurant by the soda fountain and kitchen. Someone has to sit there but it shouldn't be the duo you just had wait for 15 minutes for no good reason. Seriously, Flemings--this is Restaurant 101. Terrible design to even have tables there. Tried to switch tables but couldn't get anyone's attention. We felt like we were in detention.
Food: Fail
The food was terrible. Our shrimp was clearly pre-frozen and had a mealy texture and our stuffed roasted red pepper with miso tasted like cheap Chinese food.
It was such a miserable experience, all we could do was sit and laugh at it all.
Morton's, just north on Figueroa, is such a better option and their service is absolutely delightful. Don't waste your time and money here.
Ok I love Steak houses I really do.
last Saturday was the Hubby's b day ... but we were celebrating this saturday w/ a King's game nice dinner and the the Clipper game.
The Day started off nice =) lazy breakfast and a slow start to a day was perfect!
The hockey game was Actully one of the better ones of the season so we headed to dinner in a great mood (if a bit straving since we didn't snack at the game and breakfast at 9 Am and it was LONG gone!
We met our friends at Fleming's at 5 pm. and were promtly seated in Amy's section. I want to say Amy was fablous! We started w/ a pesto loaf which was crusty on the outside, soft chewy and warm on the inside sooo good me and my Friend Renee were fighting over the last piece when they brought us another loaf =D it was Served w/ a champagne brie speard and a sun dried tomato and basil butter... we probably would have start fighting over the last slice of bread again but dinner was served =D
I got the crab legs w/ Filet mignon ( med ) the hubby got Lobster and filet (med) and our friends both at Rib eyes. ( Which I was very jealous about since their slabs as cow was cooked perfectly med rare and huge next to my filet) we also shared 4 side.
The Sides:
Mac and cheese was good but not mind blowning
the asparagus was a little tough/fiberous,
the corn tasted like it was frozon corn stir fried w/ some butter and onions,
fries were averge the ones at In and Out are better but the dipping sauce were good!
Onion rings were pretty good probably my favorite side
My major complain was that was crab was really dry and tough... and the butter that was served w/ it was super salty... also my filet tasted a bit off ... I didn't mention it cause well being preggers sometimes my taste buds could be a bit off... but it seemed to me most of the food was just so so... Oh... and really if you are serving everything of super large plates.... they should get bigger tables... Our table was super cworded w/ platers and glasses and more plates =(
My hubby also got the molten chocolate cake Which smelled heavenly but I was too full to try it.
We left dinner and walked over to the basketball game. By 1/2 time we were both in the bathroom sick with really bad stomach aches =(. we talked about it on the way home it it could only have been dinner since breakfast was well over 8 hours before. He said his steak taste a little weird but he thought it was just the seasoning...he also said the steak we had 2 days before at Ruby Tuesday was better =/
I don't know if we got food poisoning or if it was just too rich of a meal... whatever the case the server was awesome... the food so so...
the meal came to about $380 with Tip
I ate here a while back when they had the DineLA specials and I'm soo glad I did. This has become my favorite place for celebrations and just good steak and atmosphere in general.
For starters we had various crackers and toasted bread with goat cheese and a butter spread. Although I'm typically not a fan of cheese, the spread was smooth and tasted great with the provided crackers. I also had the caesar salad, which you would think is typical and nothing special, but it was fabulous! I order caesar salads everywhere (yeah, I know, I'm weird) but their variation was so yummy. It's served a little differently, instead of chopped up romaine, they give the long stalks. The dressing was fresh and the toasted croutons were good too. Definitely my favorite caesar salad out of all the restaurants I've ever eaten at (and that's a lot of salads).
My main course was the filet mignon vigneron. It was cooked just how I asked and was wonderfully juicy and flavorful. As far as sides go, we had the roasted garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. They were both good as well.
The downer was the dessert... The milk and cookies were just.. milk.. and store bought (not good at all) dry cookies. I forgot the other dessert we had (yeah, that bad) but I do remember that it resembled some sort of bread pudding and was super mushy and not flavorful. I hear the lava cake is good though, we'll just have to try that next!
Sat at the bar and had a few drinks.
Solid service and great (slightly overpriced) wine menu with a really wide variety of selections
I'm torn cuz I hate to give this place less than 5 stars, it's soooooo gooooood... But, they slightly overcooked both our steaks, and mine was cooked so unevenly, that I'm gonna give them 4 stars cuz after all, it IS a steakhouse.
The good stuff- EVERYTHING!!! Even the slightly overcooked steaks were AWESOME. I'm a firm believer that when a server tells you something is good or their specialty, you should get it. Even when it's NY strip, which is a cut I usually don't get. It was muy delicioso and then some. I love the charred crispy outside. Flavor heaven people.
The other good stuff- The appetizer they give you. It's two different kinds of cheese dip thingy with garlic crostini, celery, and fresh beets to dip in. YUM YUM YUM!!! I didn't care that I might get full after eating this. I finished it.
The sides- Mac 'n cheese (you MUST get), sauteed mushrooms with whole garlic (you MUST get), and sweet corn. The bartender said next time we should also try the creamed spinach. (Why didn't he tell us when we were ordering?!?)
Usually I always get dessert after my meal, but my inner shamu couldn't take it anymore and I had to stop eating before I fell into a food coma right then and there.
ps. I really like the brand of Malbec they serve. Slightly sweet with a bite of spice with some of the foods.
Tip: Reservations. We got there a few minutes after they opened at 5pm, and were lucky to get the last 2 seats at the bar.
Food and atmosphere was wonderful. It's everything you expect from a steak house.
I used to envy my friend's fiancée who travels and eats on the Robb Report's dime, but after taking advantage of 7 dineLA-featured restaurants during the two weeks before they extended the offer till the end of the month, I want to stay in and cook some easy home food. I went to:
1. Gordon Ramsey - Jan 28, Dinner, $44: i enjoyed it
2. Patina - Jan 29, Lunch, $28: i loved it
3. Flemings - Jan 31, Dinner, $34: so-so
4. Nine Thirty - Feb 2, Dinner, $44: i enjoyed it
5. STK - Feb 3, Dinner, $44: so-so
6. Water Grill - Feb 6, Lunch, $28: i loved it
7. Nick+Stef's, Feb 6, Dinner, $34: i loved it
Of these restaurants, I think the Flemings' dineLA menu gave the most discount. I came home the most stuffed from Flemings, and took home the most food (2 sides and a dessert). Having attended a SuperBowl party beforehand could explain plenty.
We took advantage of both the dineLA menu ($34) and the Winter Prix Fixe menu ($36) as they both were practically the same price .
dineLA:
1) French Onion Soup. The Fleming's salad didn't sound like anything special. The soup arrived with a lot spilled on the coaster. The soup and the toast and cheese were both good but nothing I can't make at home if I tried.
2a) Steak Diane - Pan-Roasted Filet Mignon with Brandy Mushroom Demi-Glace. Pretty good but nowhere near the best steak in LA
2b) I chose a side of Chipotle Macaroni and Cheese. Chipotle taste on top - I wouldn't pay $9 for this side
3) White Chocolate Bread Pudding - With Bourbon Anglaise. There's no choice for dessert and this one was not a winner.
Winter Prix Fixe:
1) New England Clam Chowder. It was salty but otherwise enjoyable
2a) Filet Mignon Vigneron - olive Dijon butter with mushrooms forestiere. Not too different from the steak diane except this one had actually mushroom to chew on.
2b) Grilled Asparagus - Jason doesn't like creamed spinach and mashed potato is boring. The asparagus stems came out white - was it overcooked or not fresh?
3) Ice-Cold Milk and Warm Cookies - seriously? There's no choice for dessert and they were gonna serve that? It seemed a little childish for an old man steakhouse.
Despite the mediocre dessert, the restaurant was very gracious to give me a box of chocolate-dipped strawberries.
All the wooden furniture and décor with the dim yellow lighting made me feel tired. For service, Rihanna definitely tries a to give good service but her inexperience shows. The grim bus boys and girls put multiple items on their arms, so the bottom of someone else's plate could very well be touching your steak. They could also try to strut slower so that soup doesn't collect on the coaster.
In Downtown, Fleming's doesn't stand a chance with Morton's on 7th+Fig.

Service is OUTSTANDING. I went for a large business dinner and they managed the whole thing beautifully.
Food, Wine (a California Merlot), Ambiance: Meh, Meh, Meh. And for these prices, (including $15 to park WITH validation), you can do better in LA....except for the service. They practically cut up your steak for you!
What a phenomenal addition to the downtown steakhouse scene. I am mystified by their desire to cater to the evening crowd only but am happy it was here.
By the end of the evening I had to put it into the top 5. It's never wise to pick a favorite because there are so many good steakhouses. The bone-in ribeye is perfect. I like the way they break down the wine by acidity / balance.
We decided to take advantage of the red line / blue line stations. We learned that the blue line isn't close enough. If you do want to take the subway, just get of the 7th street station and walk up. It was a nice walk after a heavy dinner.
Oh yeah -- the chocolate lava cake was unbelievable. And the professional business cars for the waiters was a nice touch.
The only strangeness was the way management decides to jamk in the tables. The the waiters have to squeeze through to get food to the tables. At this price level, it's should about the complete dining experience. This approach of 'pack'em & stack'em' has a cafeteria feel.
Downtown is really becoming quite the night scene. Check out LA Live or the lofts district by Alameda, or Little Tokyo and you'll find some really interesting food and entertainment.
Places like these ALMOST makes me regret the fact that I do not eat red meat. The fresh mozarella salad was awesome. The side dishes were very tasty and the seared scallop with lobster cream sauce was g double o d, good. The scallops were prepared perfectly! The wine selection is pretty elaborate. I do not want to reiterate everything my boyfriend reviewed, so just read the first review of this place.
This place is good eats, fa sho.
The bone in ribeye was one of the best I have ever sunk my teeth into! I often run into problems at other steakouses when ordering my meat, because it is usually slightly undercooked or overcooked..... they can never seem to get it just right. Well, Flemings definitely got it just right, not only for myself but for everyone else in our group of 10 who ordered steaks. The sides were good as well and the Flemings classic martini rocked (I had 4)....woohoo!!!
Overall the service was quite good; however, it took a little too long for our food and drinks to come out. The restaurant is rather new, so I figure they're still working out some kinks.
Oh, it also happens to be a block from my girlfriend's place so I saved 20 bucks on parking. JYEAH!
Nothing was exceptional about Flemming's, but everything was consistently well above average from the food to the drinks to the service. Between Morton's, Palms and now Flemming's, its pretty tough to pick one over the other when it comes to fine steakhouses in downtown LA. I guess I still prefer Morton's because of its old school feel inside. Flemmings, however, is at a more prime location since its right at LA Live.
I ordered the bone-in fillet. I usually order my steak medium-rare, but my last bone-in fillet in Montreal, was waaaaay too raw. As I hesitated a little bit between medium-rare & medium, the waitress said I can order my steak medium-rare+. So I chickened out and went with the medium-rare+. Turns out it was a little bit more cooked than I wanted, so medium-rare woulda been perfect. I guess that goes to show the precision that the chefs have over at Flemmings.
Still gotta try Mastro's and CUT =P
Came here in a Friday afternoon for lunch, and it was well worth the confusing directions slash downtown-ness on a Friday. We ate till it was coming outta our ears. And it was well worth it.
Apparently, they are the only Fleming's that serve lunch, to date. Me and another, who is a Fleming's server ordered the filet, which came with cracked potatoes and creamed spinach. Cracked potatoes were incredible, apparently they are blanched, steamed, and then peeled by hand before frying. Delicious. Creamed spinach? Nothing to write home about. Filet mignon, perfect size for lunch and perfectly tender and delicious. It was also nice because their lunch comes with the sides, whereas for dinner, the sides are a la carte.
Rosemary bread with several spreads were delicious, half and half of onion rings and french fries were a very generous portion, and finally....the finale.
Their chocolate decadent souffle melted explosion of foodgasm in my mouth dessert. That needs to be ordered while ordering entrees because it takes 20+ minutes. I usually am not a melted chocolate decadence kinda gal, but this was something else, ladies and gents. It comes perfect and warm as it should, with 2 scoops of pistachio ice cream and rasberries, along with a handmade bowl of what I can only call heavenly creme aka chantilly cream. Sidenote: we may have recieved rasberries and cream because we were special. Har Har Har. But highly recommended.
The plan was to go shopping on Robertson Douchebag Dr. after. I think it goes to say it didn't happen. None us were barely able to reach the car without being outta breathe.
Flemings ....Flemings....Flemings.... I suggest the lobster tempura and porterhouse steak or Rib Eye. The portions are pretty big. You can share your sides and appetizers with about 2-3 people depending how you eat. This is a good place for special occassions. I suggest you make reservations.
