A fantastic staff, great personalities with excellent service. I love the fact that they know what I want, offer great ideas when I'm undecided and they don't rush you through the typical "production line" like the rest of the eateries in the area.
Oh and id I mention they DON'T OVER CHARGE
The food is fresh, the people are bright and engaging, and they all care about the image.
Best in the Wall Street Area by far
As a place that falls into the "office lunch" category, the food they have is very good. The soups are delicous, and the pasta's will put you to sleep afterwards.
Flavors is only SLIGHTLY better than Europa Cafe, right across the street. My coworkers have been telling me over and over that I have just tried the wrong type of bagel here.
Up until recently, I had tried the plain, and the cinnamon-raisin bagel here. I have tried their cream cheese and their peanut butter. And every time I try something else here, I can't get through more than a bite or two. None of it is good. The bagels are not fresh. The cream cheese tastes rank.
Well, my coworkers have told me to try the whole-wheat everything bagel. That no one else around here has that bagel, and that its the best bagel here. Well I tried that bagel today, and I feel exactly the same way: blah.
Their sandwiches here at lunch time are not the best either, but again, its better than Europa. Just...avoid this place, as well as Europa if you really like to enjoy food.
If it wasn't for the outdoor seating in the summer, I don't know why I would really come here. Everything is priced really high (I think I paid $2+ for gatorade once). I would definitely prefer Europa (across the street) over Flavors.
The make-your-own pasta section is good, though.
Okay. A disclaimer to start. I am reviewing this place RELATIVE to the available lunch spots in the area. It's really hard to get a meal that doesn't taste like cardboard within a 5 block radius of my workplace.
This is the best salad bar around for the price. For $8 you can throw pretty much anything you want in your salad. They have 8-10 choices of protein, at least 25 other mix-ins, including veggies and crunchy things, and 10-ish varieties of dressing. Considering the amount of crap I have to put in a salad before I consider it edible, I'd probably pay about $15 at any of these cheapo little pay-50-cents-per-veggie other places.
Soups are good. MUCH better than Europa across the street, where after tasting a few I discovered that every variety tastes the same. I, thankfully, have never found any insect parts in mine, but I will be scrupulously stirring and staring from now on.
Sandwiches are par for the course for a chain deli-type place. I'd go to Lenny's or Best of NY down the street instead.
Oh, and the salad bar guys tell me I'm pretty, which isn't a bad ego boost for the middle of a workday.
When I order an $8 bowl of pasta, and you ask me if I want bread with my meal, I expect to have a an edible piece of italian [hell, even french] bread thrown in my bag - NOT a fucking half of a stale sesame seed or "everything" bagel that was left over from the morning rush.
This happens on every occasion.
Piss-poor.

Um...Cock-a-ma -roach leg in my SOUP....Enough said...
Need I say anymore????????
BTW, thank god i didn;t start drinking my soup, and i have a habit of mixing before annilating my food.....
After, i threw up 28308-090-39-13 times after seeing the roach leg, I proceeded to tell the Flavors Peeps, "hey, i ordered Chicken Soup, not Chicken with a side of insect leg soup" the lady at Flavors was like, "how do you know it didn;t fall in there!"
OMFG...I just walked away and threw my vomit filled plastic bag at her....JK I should;ve but instead I threw it away and cried on A-dawg's shoulder cuz my tummy was still empty and I almost drank cock-a-mah-roach soup! : (
You know that episode of Family Guy when the guys are stranded on the desert island and they're saved and as they're leaving the boat Cleveland said, "...and I enjoyed shooting Skeet (to Skeet Ulrich) There's nothing good about what you do or who you are!" That's pretty much how I feel about (Lack-of) Flavors Cafe.
I used to go for breakfast...and be disappointed. I used to go for lunch...and be disappointed. The only time I was somewhat happy, was if I decided that a salad could somehow properly sustain a 6'1" 175 pound guy through four or five afternoon hours, because their salad's were at a flat price...no matter how much stuff you threw in them, and I threw in a lot!
Seriously though, I'm not sure if you're familiar with the left over food that in a restaurant, can no longer be served to customers, but isn't really bad yet, so it gets turned into "family meal"...? That's better than Flavors.
They make the best cup of coffee in the neighborhood. Although its never hot enough, chugging the coffee helps increase the caffeine buzz. Their buttermilk pancakes are great after a late night out or when you have the "I Hate Work" blues. The staff is friendly, attentive, and remembers your preferences (even when you can't).
I like their chicken pesto sandwich. They have a couple deals where you can get a half sandwich + soup or a half sandwich + soda. I see a lot of people waiting in line for their soup; it must be good.
They have a wide array of desserts, wraps, and salads as well. There's something for everybody. I find the service to be pretty friendly, and the prices are typical in the FD. I only come here for takeout, but there's a nice outdoor seating area if you enjoy people watching.
i come here for the salad which is humongous and tons of ingredients to choose from...
their soups they have different variety everyday...
sandwiches not so shabby either...
but eh i still think its pricey... 7 bucks when u can go to a local deli and get it for a lil cheaper... but it definitely is a lil more gourmet feeling here...
At the corner of John St and Water St, this deli/cafe sits at the bottom of the AIG office building on 175 Water. Right now it's kind of hidden in the midst of the sidewalk construction on Water St.
Their salad bar is great, you tell them what you want and they'll toss your personal salad right in front of your eyes.
I've only eaten take-out here, so I cannot comment on the restaurant. The food, however, was not even tasty enough to call bland. Ordered a simple chicken caesar wrap... yet, there certainly wasn't anything caesar about it. It was chopped up chicken with some lettuce... no taste at all. Next time, go elsewhere.
