The serious martial artist is often faced with the option of joining a gym or a martial arts school. Martial arts schools often don't have any fitness or weight training equipment, and gym typically only offer fitness style martial arts classes with little if any actual fighting value.
Five Points has both, and tops it all off with yoga and pilates classes, as well as personal training and massage services.
On the gym side of things you have lots of equipment and it's extremely clean. And as a bonus, it's never so crowded that you can't get a good workout in.
The martial arts classes are taught by experienced instructors who have spent/are spending time in the ring. You will definitely get a good workout in as well as learn solid fighting technique from the instructors.
I haven't done the yoga or pilates classes, but if the Muay Thai and Kali classes are any indication then the instructors are probably of the same high caliber.
yes-yes.
as a lifetime martial arts dude, I will tell you with confidence that this is a quality operation.
I work in the area so the 'neighborhood' rate is $50 lower than their usual $150 / mo, and the ever-expanding open schedule of muay thai, kali, yoga, and pilates (never hit that one up but I'm sure it's good) with top-flight instructors in a clean, well-maintained facility full of friendly competitors is well the hell worth it. they're even trying to phase in tai chi and grappling (BJJ, judo, ju-jitsu hybrid) classes if there's interest.
if you want to go from novice to fit and competent or even to amateur fighter in a challenging but reasonable (even laid-back) gym, this is a great choice.
super-nice folks.
