The best burger I've ever had!!! Yes I'm serious. In and out, shake shack, black label burger (Minetta) stand no chance.

Now let me just say that when I say best burger what I mean to say is THIS location. I am not saying ALL five guys locations will produce great burgers, because they won't. I remember a horrible experience at another location I think was around the Javitz center...HORRIBLE!

This fast food joint is clean and the workers seem content. Burgers and Cajun fries are great!

If I'm in the mood for a great tasting burger Five Guys on MONTAGUE can't be beat.

With all candor and due respect, what the hell do people see in this place?  Have you lost your taste buds?  To compare this place to In-n-Out is ridiculous as this place is barely comparable to a lunch truck burger (no offense to lunch trucks as some of you really can turn it out).

The burger was unnecessarily greasy and shockingly bland. (How one can make meat, cheese, bread and BBQ sauce taste bland is a mystery, but 5 Guys has done it). Also, the bun on my burger was a soggy mess, as they wrap the burgers in foil which keeps in the heat and dissolves the bun within 1 minute. Terrible.

The one redeeming item 5 Guys has are the Cajun fries; they are tasty.

A friend has recommended trying Bare Burger next time I'm in the mood for burgers; one thing is for sure--I ain't coming back here folks!!

Five Guys Burgers tastes so good when you're eating it but it makes me feel sick after. Maybe it's the mountain of fries that they give you that are really tasty.

The first time I went I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger which turns out to be 2 patties. The little burger is one burger. I was upset  that it doesn't say that the regular burger is 2 patties.

It cost me $16 for a bacon cheeseburger with fries and a coke. This is significantly more expensive than any other fast food burger joint.

    Shake shack is better!!
this place is too expensive for hamburgers, burgers are nothing special.
$10 for a cheesburger and fries is too expensive for a fast food, these are restaurant prices.
The only reason this place is popular is because of the name; "ooooooooh, I'm going to FIVE GUYS"
It probably sounds cool but not enough for me to spend $10 for a burger.
I prefer Wendys or shake shack

If you're planning on going to a restaurant in Brooklyn Heights and ordering a burger, save your cash and just go to Five Guys. Burgers here are leaps and bounds above anything you'll find in nearby locations. The fries are top notch, and come in generous portions. Tip: get the little burger and split fries to save scratch. It's still plenty of food.

They should have a veggie burger option. You pay the same price for stir-fried veggies as for a burger. The delicious fries and free peanuts make up for that  though.

I don't see the big deal.  The burger's are huge, yes, but I feel that quantity over quality comes into play.  It was good, yes, but not great.  They give way too many fries though.

Went for the first time because my nephew begged me to.  Walked in asking for a turkey burger (I'm not a big beef eater), but they had none to my surprise.  Had no choice but to order a regular burger along with fries and a drink. What a shocker!  A shocker because I didn't know it was going to have TWO patties as the menu doesn't state this and also because two burgers, two fries, and two drinks set me back $20+!!!  Since when did fast food places start charging restaurant prices???  I was also shocked that two orders of small fries was equal to four whole potatoes!  What a waste.  There was no way I could eat them all even though I had my constantly growing nephew with me.  I felt badly having to toss so much food in the garbage and would have gladly given my leftovers to any homeless person.  Overall the burger was good but I wish they'd start selling turkey burgers as I feel they would be a hit and increase their business even more.  I also wish they would display the fact that a burger - two patties and a little burger = one patty.  I assumed a "little" burger was like a kids meal at McDonald's.

The negatives are the price and that EVERYTHING is sold a la carte.  A fast food first.  :o(

I don't understand why people are so in love with this place.  I will admit that the fries are great.  I kind of wish they had a small size where they actually gave you a small amount as opposed to filling up a wheelbarrow for you to carry out, but I guess since they are so expensive, you at least get a fair amount for the money.

The burgers have never impressed me.  They are just greasy nasty piles of meat soaking into the bun.  The patty doesn't really stay together like a burger should and it feels very heavy.

I personally think this is better than the stuff you get from fast food restaurant franchises and they cook a burger, like it should be on a flat top grill, with a load of toppings(my favorite would be mushrooms, grill onions, mayo, ketchup, and jalapenos). The fries are to die for, I went with my girlfriend and had the Cajun fries and we are hooked, they were meaty and crunchy, with a bit of the Cajun spice( old bay seasoning perhaps) and when it comes down to it, its the same price for meal at a fast food franchise, but with better quality. I definitely recommend trying out one of the joints if you are near one. Happy eating!

Ok, so this isn't an In-N-Out (oh my beloved In-N-Out, how I miss ye), but for the east coast, it seems pretty close.  First off, the fries.  Get someone to help you with a small order bc there are a shit ton of those bad boys.  I believe their style is more closer to the homestyle fries which is always a win!

Their burgers are good, maybe a little small...my guess the patty is around a 1/6th - 1/5th of a lb (give or take a few ounces, but still, they have flavor. Obviously, I got the sm. bacon cheeseburger (that is the one up on In-N-Out i must admit).    Although the bacon was crisp, it was still really good.  Now I do prefer bacon all super greasy and floppy and stuff, but I had absolutely no problems with this since most restaurants and most people serve and prefer crisp bacon.

First Impression: The location is wonderful. I love the stools at the window facing the street.

Entree: The Burger. I gasped when I took my first bite; it was goooooood!
I also got fries, and they were really yummy.  I'm glad I only asked for one order of fried for my cousin and I, they gave A LOT.  I like the variety in the fountain drinks.

I really had a great experience here. The Burger & Fries truly lived up to their reputation.  I look forward to bringing my friends and family; I want to see the look on their faces when they take their first bite into this amazing burger.

Atmosphere: Really comfortable and fun. The magazine clippings of all the awards Five Guys has won makes you appreciate the place even more.

Food: It was hot when we opened it (always a plus, cold food-yuck), the cheese was melting over the side, another plus. First bite, "WOW".

    Service: Pleasant.

Thumbs up: The staff cleaning after people that left so the tables will be clean for the next party.  It was expeditious and not annoying.

Thumbs down: The wait is a little long if your on a lunch break like I was. But I got to sit and eat.

The burgers are good, as are the hot dogs. Lots of toppings to choose from, which is nice. juicy and greasy in a good way. The fries are just ok, kinda soggy. The give you an insane amount of food. They have regular and large fries and the regular is enough for 2-3 people, seriously. HUGE portions. The burgers are large too, but you have the option of a "little burger". Don't be fooled, this is not a slider, it is a decent sized burger.

The place does get insanely packed but they work efficiently. You may wait a long time but they are honestly working as fast as possible. They serve peanuts in the shell while you wait which is a little strange but a nice touch.

I crave these burgers all the time!!! I could actually use one right now, little cheeseburger with lettuce tomato ketchup mayo pickles grilled onions and grilled mushrooms. SO GOOD!! The cajun fries are insanely addictive, and a small order can be shared btwn two people. Also their little cheeseburger is the size of a regular one so you should keep that in mind when ordering.

Another burger chain that I've tried before. I've seen them around but had a chance to check it out when I was at my office's Brooklyn location.

It's great for lunch. Nothing fancy at all. The moment you walk in you smell grease, which honestly, is one of the reasons I'm not a fast foo dfan. But the burgers are pretty good and I do like that you can choose from a whole bunch of toppings. They give you a ton of fries so I suggest just get one to share with the table.

I love this place.  First, they give you a huge brown bag of fries, so you definitely get a huge amount of delicious food.   Second, there is quick service.  Thirdly, the meat that they used for the burger is really juicy and delicious.  Fourthly, they let you use as many ingredients on your burger as you want.  Fifthly, you are allowed to choose the size of your burger, junior or large.  Yes, it's a bit tacky inside with the red paint and the lighting, but the burgers are out of this world.   This place draws in a different crowd everytime I go.  It's got ample seating, with table and chairs, and stools on the side.  They have all these awards posted, and news articles about their success all over the country.

Burgers here are obviously good. Best part being the free toppings which allow you to customize into just about whatever style of burger you can want.. Tons of fries as has been said.
Hotdogs here are underrated also. Much nicer to get a grilled hotdog for once, just wish they had chili.

My main tip is that you call in your order if your coming during peak lunch hours. This basically allows you to skip the line, and also you wont have to wait for your food when you get there.

Im from the west coast and a big time foodie so when I hear about a place that is only on the east coast then I have to try it.  I was all around town, taking the subways and I would see these places all over New York. I was told that they had really good burgers, and thats what they advertise so I had to decide for myself.

I would compare the burgers and fries to that of the west coast's In N Out burgers. The burgers and fries are made fresh and thats what makes them good. One difference is that here at Five guys, you can get a whole list of toppings such as bacon, grilled mushrooms, A-1 sauce, BBQ sauce, on top of the regular onion, tomato, pickles, etc.

The food was very good, but the downside is that they don't do combos and everything has be bought separate. I ordered 1 cheesesburger, little bacon burger, 1 order of fries, 2 drinks. It came out to $20 and some change.  Thats alot of money for a burger and fries.

So basically...good burgers just pretty pricey. If your looking for a cheap burger than this is not the place for you. But if price is not an issue, by all means, get the works!!

***Update: didn't know this..but they do have these places in Cali...umm..IN N Out is better!

Sometimes you go out with a person for the first time and you are like, "Wow, he/she is awesome." Then after a couple more dates you start to feel like, "He/she is pretty decent, but I'm not feeling it like in the beginning." Then add in one more date and you discretely break up by not returning any text messages.*

The above is a semi-dramatic description of my time with Five Guys. The first burger was nice, the second one was pretty nice, the third one was just nice, the fourth one was mildly annoying and boring and now after about ten visits in the past year I am over it. The burgers are just ok and it's not like there is much else to get. I like that you can customize your burger, but still it doesn't make them taste much better.

The fries are highly aggravating to me as well. I like french fries, but I don't like these french fries. They seem more akin to a potato and that should feel more healthy, but when a regular order of fries comes dumped messily in a bag with grease stains pervading every angle of the bag, when the fries are in a cup and on top of my burger in said greasy bag and when there are enough fries for a pre-school class and their parents after a twenty day fast, it just seems to be a bit excessive. Five guys would have trouble finishing an order of fries.

eh, it's not all that in my opinion.  I've tried Five Guys a couple of times because people seem to have such good impressions of this place and it's like you can't avoid it with all of the new locations popping up.  There's not really much worth mentioning, aside from the fact that they give you a lot of fries.  But the fries don't have a whole lot of taste so you just end up with too many tasteless fries.  Maybe if they had a sauce I could dip them in that would help.  Oh, the peanuts are good.  I give it one extra star (so that makes it 2 stars) because they have free refills (fountain drinks).  That is awesome and should be at so many more restaurants in the city, one of my big NYC pet-peeves.

I'm in between a 2 and 3 on the stars, but the fact that I dread going there when someone I'm with wants to makes me go for the 2.

Pros - clean, the peanuts, FREE REFILLS!

Cons - the food, the fact that they are now a chain that's everywhere

    1. Orders were placed at 7:55pm.
    2. Orders were picked up at 8:03pm.
    3. Orders were devoured by 8:15pm.
    4. Sighs of satisfaction were let out at 8:16pm.

I like burgers.  I like fries.  A Five Guys Burger (with everything--because I'm a heffer) was pretty top notch for me.  I was lecturing myself after buying a burger and regular order of fries while walking back to work because I'm poor and $12 for a burger and fries is not in the price range a poor student like myself.  Not for a goddamn burger and fries!

However, after I snuck the embarrassing grease soaked see thru bag into my office and opened the thing I thought "Hot damn!  They weren't stingy!"  They did pour me a generous amount of fries (better since I paid $4-5 for it!) and the burger was a heavy monstrosity.  I suppose that made up for the cost.  I mean a shroom burger at shake shack costs $7 and as tasty as that mushroom is no normal person can get full off that.  The Five Guys Burger, however, was definitely a filler.  I was pretty embarrassed and shamed after I finished it.   Embarrassed, shamed, and oh so satisfied.  Wait, am I still talking about food?

I know this is a national chain but it's probably the best place to get a burger from a fast food joint.

While the burgers can be a bit more pricey than your average fast food prices they are large and quite tasty. Plus, the size of a "small" order of fries is extremely large- enough for two or three people and when you get your order the bag is literally over flowing with fries. The fries are also better than what you get at other fast food places and you can make a meal out of them alone.

No need to worry about a lack of seating either as there's plenty of seats for the lunch and dinner rush.

Ok...this may sound drastic, but if I had to come up with a list of my possible last meals on earth, I think 5 guys would be somewhere near the top!
The crazy thing was that I was never a fan of burgers until one day i decided to make a trip to 5 guys. While my love affair with 5 guys didn't start at their Montague street location, I am reviewing this one because it just so happens its the location I frequent the most.

The menu is simple but you know what?--I'd rather go to a place that makes a few things and they do it WELL than a place with a large variety of sub par items.

Okay ordering is also pretty simple--you can have any burger you want from the menu but remember to specify if you want a "little burger"...if you just say cheeseburger or hamburger, you'll get their regular size patty which literally two people can share! On more than one occasion, I've forgotten to say "little cheeseburger", so they gave me the the full sized one and I would have to save the rest for later. Once in a blue though, I can finish one, so I guess it depends on your appetite at the time.
Well anyway, once you picked your size/burger type [hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon burger, or bacon cheese burger], you tell them what toppings and sauces--tomato, mayo. lettuce, bbq sauce etc...whatever else you want from off the toppings list. No matter what burger or toppings you get, they --the meat is fresh (not that frozen mush they serve elsewhere) and has that authentic "just grilled" taste. Btw, its company policy that their burgers be well done, so if you don't prefer your burgers be that cooked, 5 guys may not be for you.
Now, on to  the fries (My favorite form of carb consumption!). They're fresh, have the right amount of crunchiness, and plentiful. They even have a sign indicating from which city and state they got the potatoes for the week from and I swear to you I can tell the difference is taste in potatoes! ( I told you...I like my fries!). At times though, they may border on being too salty, but I always make sure I grab extra napkins just in case I need to whisk away some of the excess salt. The regular fries (which is the smallest size) can easily be shared between 2 or 3 people, so if you are a light eater---bring a friend! They basically give you a brown greasy paper bag half full of fries!
    -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------

If it was based on taste and value alone, I would give  5 guys 5 stars. But there are a few things that preclude me from doing so. For example, I'd like if they would add a few more tried and true burger restaurant staples to their menu such as sweet potato fries or onion rings just for variety sakes. I have been to other burger places and they tend to have signature or specialty burgers, which is something 5 guys doesn' t have that I wish they did because I do appreciate novelty once in a while. *shrug* it's really no biggie though.
So, in synopsis, you get a LOT of tasty food, but there is a heftier price tag to match. Don't expect a $7 meal complete with fries and drink like you get at your typical FF joint. A complete meal at 5 guys can cost you about 10 to 12 dollars(you do get free drink refills though!), but for the quantity AND quality you're getting, I think its well worth it. Sure, a cheaper price would be great, but price has never barred me from returning to this place time and time again.

I hail from California, where IN-N-Out rules the vast western burger landscape without anybody within a mileshot of surpassing its simplicity and taste.

The keyword here is simplicity. Five Guys attempts to create a laidback, Cali-style burger environment, from the unpretentious decor to its  (relatively) inexpensive prices.

So you can imagine the look I had on my face when I reached the counter, ordered a bacon cheeseburger, and was immediately prompted to *request* ketchup, and mustard, and relish, and mayo, and lettuce, and onions, and tomatoes. Um, aren't these like a given?

This isn't create-your-own-salad. This is a burger. I don't want a checklist of 20 items to request, or conversely, leave behind.

The burger itself was more than acceptable; two juicy (albeit a tad small) patties with all of the works put together quite nicely. As is the case with 9 out of 10 burger joints, the bun was dissed in the process, an afterthought, already soggy and virtually lifeless before bite number 1. Everything in a burger counts, and the bun is almost like the glue that holds all the good stuff in-between together. If the bun sucks, the burger will suffer for it.

Soggy is also how the fries were served. No crunch.

And please don't call me a hater. Cuz I'm not. I'm just a burger purist.

I went here last night with my roommate, as I was craving a burger and fries but didn't want to miss any of the Pats-Eagles game by sitting and eating at PJ Clarke's.

I ordered the regular cheeseburger (2 hand-formed patties) plain with just ketchup and a small french fries.  It was absolutely delicious, and they have barrels of free peanuts to snack on while you wait for them to cook it fresh for you.  Speaking of waiting, the downside of getting a freshly cooked, made-to-order burger is that you have to wait what seems like an eternity for them to cook it.  On a Sunday night, there was NO ONE in the place, 5 employees working, and it took close to 20 minutes for my food to be ready.  Granted, this is just a function of getting fresh-cooked food.  It takes time, so I'm not docking them any points for this.

As good as the burger was, I had high hopes for the fries.  Alas, I was sorely disappointed.  While I do love my fries cooked in peanut oil, these were soggy and flavorless.  I am baffled as to how a company that makes such a delicious burger could have such sad, flaccid french fries.

I think that given where I live, I'll just go to PJ Clarke's the next time I want a good burger and fries.  Granted this burger was a bit better, but PJ Clarke's crushes them on the fries.

4 stars for the burger, 0 stars for the fries.  2 stars overall.

    I LOVE Five Guys!

Tasty -- no, DEEELICIOUS -- cheap, and I can get practically a whole salad's worth of toppings.

The fries are heaven. I take my left overs home, put them in a ziplock in the freezer, then re-enjoy them later after a spell in the toaster. Crazy, but worth it.

Sometimes I temp in an office right near the Wall St. station on the 2/3 train.  I usually just eat lunch in the building's cafeteria, because it's cheap and I get to maximize my hour break.  Since the economy is so awesome right now, they've cut back at the caf, which means the guy who used to grill the burgers was replaced by someone who sucks.  They also rarely have their delicious turkey burgers which are a steal at $2.50.  So anyways...this is a review of Five Guys.

I got the brilliant idea today to check where the closest decent burger was and I realized there is a Five Guys in Brooklyn Heights!  The 3 train came right away, I took it one stop, and less than 10 minutes later I was ordering my little hamburger (makes it sound so sad) and regular fries.  I had read that it can get a bit busy in here, so I didn't arrive til about 2.  There was a homeless guy sitting outside the steps when I came in and he asked for some change to get a burger.

I didn't have to wait to order but I did have to wait a bit to get my food.  Nothing ridiculous though.  I just decided to eat at the bar against the wall since otherwise I would've had to ask some random people if I could sit at the end of their table.  The space is rather small, but the majority of customers were getting their food to go anyways.  The Park Slope location has a lot more tables available if you'd like to be able to sit with a group.

My burger was cooked well and my fries were tasty, even if there were enough of them to feed an entire family from one of those TLC multiple-birth shows.  I decided to eat my fries with a fork to avoid getting my hands that much greasier.  Some may think that makes me look silly, daintily using my fork to pick up fries one by one, dipping it in the ketchup, and eating them in small bites.  Luckily, I don't eat fries like that.  I get like 4-5 on my fork at one time, slam them into the ketchup, inhale them, smearing Heinz 57 all over my face.  Nah, it's a little bit closer to the dainty way, but faster, otherwise it would take me 3 hours to finish my bag o' fries.

I managed to finish my burger and the portion of fries that I had poured out of the bag (about 2 whole potatoes worth) and still had 15 minutes to spare before I had to be back at my desk.  Perfect timing!  I threw out my garbage and took my now grease-stained fry bag with me.  As I walked back down the stairs, the same guy was still asking for change, so I handed him my leftover fries.  It made me feel like I did a good deed for the day, but kinda in that way that a rich socialite makes herself feel like a good person by talking about that one time that she handed out food at a soup kitchen.  If I really cared, I would've bought that guy a burger.  Whatever, I can make myself feel morally superior to all those people who just wasted their unwanted food by throwing it away.

So the point is, burgers are good, fries are even better.  Bring someone with you so maybe you can finish one order of them.  Pluses - place is clean and staff was friendly.  Minuses - the guy who was sweeping was all up in my space sweeping furiously under my bar stool while I was eating (minus one star), and like others have said, I now reek of peanut oil.  There's worse things I could smell like though.  I definitely would rather head over here for lunch than most places in the Financial District, so it was a nice change.  For $10 I consumed enough calories to last me until dinner on Thursday - what a steal!  I'll be back.

Juicy fresh burgers, made to order with all the toppings you want.
If you say "cheeseburger" you get a 2 patty deal, so if you want a
regular sized cheeseburger you gotta say "little cheeseburger"
    and that means one patty.

The fries come overflowing in a cup, served up piping hot. They
cut them thick, so if you like steak fries you are in luck.

They list the calories on the menu - so brace yourself, but bite in
    and enjoy!! It's worth it.

Excellent burgers at a good price!  Definitely, the single ("little") burger is plenty.  The best part is that anything you can think of (fried onions, sauces, etc.) is free.  That's how it should be!

The peanuts are good (I did try them) and the fries are great (though nobody should be eating a whole regular order themselves).

I didn't try the 'dogs, but a friend who has added Five Guys, in rotation, to his steady diet of Chipotle, says they're good.

Also, free refills.  Yummmm, too much Diet Coke while eating peanuts.

The East Coast's answer to In-n-Out in burger supremacy.

The burger? Double stacked, free toppings -- except for cheese and bacon. My favorite iteration: bacon cheeseburger, fried onions, extra barbeque sauce, regular drink, and a regular order of Cajun fries.

Can we just talk about those fries for a bit? I don't know what constitutes that seasoned salt but I want. To put it. On EVERYTHING. (Just imagine the seasoned salt with Pommes Frites fries and then dip away... I'm sure I just made you drool a little.)

Free refills on drinks! Polite fast food workers (for realsies!)! Clean bathrooms!

For a low key time on Montague, window shopping, pre- or post-promenade. It's just up the steps from Henry Street.

After waxing poetic on the burgers at diner and union square cafe, I figured I oughta at least review a bonafide burger joint.  And granted this is technically a "fast food"  burger joint, and so it wouldn't really be fair to compare their burger with the super thick mega burgers served by proper sit down restaurants.  That being said, the burgers here are double patties!!  That's the standard.  You don't pay extra for that or for the multitude of toppings they offer.  The fries are great (fried in peanut oil--yes this place is one big peanut allergy waiting to kill someone) too.

Not quite In and Out (so calm down you diehard Californians), but hey, I also don't get bible verses blessing the bottom of my drink so it's all good.

i LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Five Guys! I think they seriously sprinkle crack on their burgers. One thing to keep in mind that the "burgers" are actually double burgers while the "little burgers" are actually normal size single burgers.  I suggest getting the bacon cheeseburger with: lettuce, tomato, pickles, raw onions & hot sauce (they use franks red hot).

Stop stop stop with the In-N-Out comparisons. Just stop. I dunno which In-n-Out you kids went to, but I have never lived further than 3 miles from an In-n-Out for 23 years of my life and I can promise you that these two should absolutely not be compared.

For starters: I can get a 4x4 monster with an order of fries from In-n-Out for the price of a normal burger here. Secondly, how can you compare In-n-Out's special spread to ketchup, mayo, or hot sauce? Then there are the fries... are you really going to compare In-n-Out's terrible, thin and soggy fries (I always have to order mine double fried) to this place's nice and crispy thick style fry? And, lastly, how can you compare In-n-Out's delicious milk shake to anything this place has to offer? I hate to break it to you, but this place and In-n-Out do not belong in the same burger/shake/fries category to even start a comparison.

Now, that's not to say this place is bad. The burger was good. My lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. The buns were nice and toasty. The patties are a bit plain, overcooked, and not very juicy for my personal taste. The cajun fries were very good. We split an order of fries four ways -- something you could never do at In-n-Out.

And the best part was the price. Though pretty expensive compared to Socal standards (Tommy's, In-n-Out, Fatburger, etc) the burgers at this place were very reasonable compared to the competition (Burger Joint, Goodburger, Shake Shack, etc) and of the other burger places, this is probably the only one I wouldn't mind making a habit out of.

Nonetheless, I'd be doing my Californian upbringing a disgrace giving this place four stars. if I could, I'd give it 3.5. When I want a great shake to go with my burger, I go to Shake Shack. When I want a thick, juicy, perfectly cooked burger, I go to Goodburger. When I want a "special occasion" burger to eat with my tourist friends, I go to Burger Joint.

But when I just want a reasonably priced burger and some great fries without breaking the bank, I'd come here.

Not good at all.    Burgers are made from awful substandard bad meat .  Buns are sweet and awful !   fries are decent.   You have no choice of cheese.  They only use processed scary, awful american cheese.  Food is extremely high in salt.
It will make you sick. Ive had a better burger at Wendys!  & I dont even eat fast food  !
Their staff including management are ALL non English speaking incompetents   Stay away from Five Guys and go to any other fast food joint if u must!

If you want grilled cheese they will use the same scary bun they use for the burgers.     All their locations are the same. (really terrible)

Being from California, land of burgers and drive-throughs (IN-N-Out, Fat Burger, Tommy's, to name a few), I've been disappointed with the burger situation here in NY.  I'm not a big fan of the NY style burgers with meat that is thick as they are wide.

Five Guys Burger is as close as I found to a California style burger.  The meat was not frozen just like In-N-Out.  French fries are made from real potatoes, with its skin still on, not from processed potato.

One thing, I don't understand is why all these people think the food is cheap here.  $5 for a burger seems quite high to me.  On the otherhand, you can pretty much pick whatever topings you want (including fresh jalepenos, mushrooms, fried onions, etc.).  Also, although fries are expensive ($5 for large), the service size is huge and can easily serve a party of 4.

As for the burger, keep it simple.  I got the junior cheese burger (1 patty instead of 2 for regular) with ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion and jalepenos.

If this place was in LA, it probably wouldn't get more than 3 stars, but given the competition, I give it 4.

To say this place is the best burger place in brooklyn, is a mega understatement. The place is super clean and the staff is friendly. Now the burgers, oh god are they good....... no wait good is not the word to use, amazing is the word.

The burgers are amazing, and the fries are crispy on the out side, and soft in the inside. The price is just right for the amount of food they give, witch is a lot........ trust me if i say its a lot, its a lot.
I'm a big guy and anytime i leave a restaurant extremely full its because they served a lot of food.
