This is one of the best burger joints in Virginia Beach!  The comparison of Five Guys to California's In-n-Out is on the money!  I was raised in Ventura County and In-n-Out was (and still is) the jump off!  So imagine my surprise when I decided to try Five Guys after so many people said how good their burgers were, and I immediately made the comparison.

The burgers are made to order and not sitting in some warmer waiting for somebody to order them.  If there are only two of you, you only really need to get 1 order of fries, as they give you so many, it's hard to finish all of them by yourself....and I'm talking about the small!!!

My only complaint is the lack of combo meals.  They are kind of expensive, so it is not a once a day or week spot (unless you got it like that).  But the price is well worth the quality and quantity of food.  I definite recommendation!

Slightly over-rated.  My husband and I went this past Sunday for lunch due to a colleague's suggestion.  We knew it was a burger joint - plain and simple and did not expect anything fantastic.  We didn't get anything overly fantastic either.  It was very average and costly.  Most fast food burgers aren't that great, but I honestly could not tell the difference between Five Guys' Burgers and a Wendy's burger... seriously.  My husband and I each got regular size burgers, 2 regular sized drinks and a larger size fry (the one that feeds 3 people) and it cost us just under $16.

I also thought my eardrums were going to pop by the volume of the music in the place.  While the choice of music was fun and upbeat, the volume made my head spin.  Both my husband and I were not overly impressed... I know that these burgers are "never frozen", but you know what?  Neither are Wendy's burgers and they taste exactly the same.  Their fries were very average too.

Fun place to hang out if you're a teenager or bored... Honestly though, the burger's I've tried from TGIF, Max & Erma's and Uno's are much better albiet a bit more expensive.  I'd rather pay a bit more for better tasting and better atmosphere.

Love this place!  Guys that work there are super nice!  The burgers couldn't be any better!  Love all the toppings too-I normally get the small cheeseburger with A1, sauteed onions and mushrooms.  Don't forget the Cajun fries!  Mm mm...getting hungry all ready.  It is a no fluff place...super casual.  Wait til your number is called.  Eat peanuts as you wait and sip your fountain drink.  Place can get packed...

I went to Five Guys Burgers and Fries last week for the second time.  My relatives in Virginia Beach keep raving about this place making comparisons to In 'N Out Burger from California.  They said it was better than In 'N Out so I had to go and taste it for myself.

The restaurant is fairly big enough with an adequate amount of parking.  It's a fast food joint so you get your food pretty promptly.  They've got an abundance of peanuts that they give as appetizers for their customers.  I ordered a cheeseburger and some cajun fries.  The cheeseburger is pretty good.  It's a bit on the messy side but it's a nice big portion.  I can't say it's better than In 'N Out but its definitely pretty good.  I took mine to go and they wrapped the burgers in aluminum foil.  The cajun fries are really good though.  They have a nice small spicy flavor to them.

This restaurant is pretty good.  I recommend them to anyone looking for a good burger in the Virginia Beach area.

Five Stars for the Five Guys.

My classmates and I used to go here every other day after class. The place is located near a grocery store so there's a lot of parking. Inside the restaurant, you'll find boxes of peanuts scattered around for customers to nibble on as you wait for your order. The place is well lit and very open. The food is made to order, so your burgers will always be fresh. The size of the burgers are very healthy. Not too big, but not too small. The one thing that's big is their portions for their fries. I recommend you order regular size fries instead of the large. They basically put the fries in a cup which makes the thing overflow and so they just toss the rest of what they cooked in the bag for good measure.

Whenever I go there, I always get a bacon cheeseburger and cajun fries. Its a great lunch.

No it's not better or comparable to In n' Out because that's not what a hamburger is all about. (If you know the jingle, you know the jingle) The burgers are so-so but they do give you a ton of fries. A lot of people pumped this place up. In n Out burgers are juicier and the fries are better. I'm not saying its a bad place, it's just okay.

Being from the San Francisco Bay Area, Five Guys is the closest thing to In-n-Out.  Tasty burgers, thick fries....that's about it!  You have your burger with a long list of fixings from grilled onions to jalapenos.  Whenever I'm in the east coast I have to make a stop here.

Fantastic, thick, delicious burgers made to order. Wonderful french fries, fried in peanut oil with the skins still on. Peanuts galore for sharing. Yep, this is heaven - one of the best burger joints for people who are serious about their cheeseburgers and fries. Skip the flat patties at McD's and the over-greased meat at BK, and try Five Guys!

Definately a fan of Five Guys! Yahoooo! Good burgers, great fries... Love them with the malt vinegar.. decent prices.... Great place to go in small groups. The burgers are well portioned, and the ordering method is simple and easy. We've gone when the place was packed and never had to wait more than 10 minutes for our order.  The peanuts to snack on are a nice perk too!

When the Five Guys store popped up on Independence, I had to try it, being a fan of both burgers and fries.  Their fries are cooked in peanut oil, and have a distinct "Boardwalk Style" flavor to them.  If you don't go for that kind of fries, you may not like them as much.  The burgers are fried behind the counter where you can watch them do it if you care to.  I usually just grab a handful of peanuts and munch on them while I'm waiting for the burger.  The most different part about Five Guys is the way you order - there's a long list on the menu of all the possible condiments, and you tell them exactly what you want ON the burger, i.e. rather than Saying "no onions, no mustard", I say "lettuce tomato pickles jalapeos mayo ketchup hot sauce".  There's something more exact about ordering this way - how many times do the fast food chains mess up an order by forgetting to not put the onions or mustard on there?  Lots, methinks.  Portions are generous, all the "regular" burgers are really 2 patties, and the "little" burgers are single patties.  Plus they always dump a lot of extra fries into your bag.

They don't have the variety of burgers like the traditional chains, but the ordering system is unique, and portions are great.  All the burgers are fried to well done on a skillet, and there's no choosing how cooked it gets.  But I enjoy the flavor of theses burgers.

The Fairview Store is bigger than the Independence or Battlefield ones, and they're all pretty fast. I don't know about lunch rushes, however, since I work on the Peninsula.
