I agree, great burgers. But I only give it three stars for the atmosphere. Kudos to the Five Guys for offering free peanuts while you are waiting - but this isn't fantastic food or great service. They do all orders as cook to order, so they are definately fresh food vice fast food. And if you order one size smaller than you think you want, you'll get what you expect - except a whole lot better. And free refills on sodas are available.

Now for the rest of the story: The food is okie, but not fantastic. They use a metal sheet grill, and not  a charcoal gril. So you get a little more grease. At the price point, no problems. Also, the fries tend to be greasey rather than crisp. I actually like that they left the skins on the potatoes, and that they are also done/cooked fresh with each order. But the place is pretty "iffy" when it comes to being clean. I doubt they have anyone cleaning tables, since it's mostly self bussing of them - and to be honest - most people who leave their wrappers don't think about those that follow - so just be prepared to have to clean up after yourself - and possibly the person before you.

Heck, I'll give them the fourth star for the quality and size of the burgers... but they really need to send someone out to clean up every five to ten minites to get anything more. Cheap eats, yeah... but just don't expect much more than a burger, fries and a soda. Better yet, use them for take out or a burger on the run - then you won't be as disappointed as I was with the eating area.

Hands down this Five Guys chain is the best burgers in the DC area.  Love all the topping choices and of course the fries are addictive.  I like to have vinegar with the fries.  Burgers are sized with 2 patties for the normal order and 1 patty for the junior.  Well if you're going to have a 1 patty burger, why not get a hot dog to go with it!  Come on, you're obviously not counting calories if you're dining at Five Guys.  Take a look at the menu, order your burger with all your favorite toppings, get your order, then try to take a bite off that monster burger!  You'd have to keep the wrapper on there just to hold all the toppings inside!  For burgers in the DC area, you have to try this place.
