We have a corporate rate at this hotel so I'm staying here for a second time, however, I'd have chosen to stay here on my own.

The rooms are nice. They're clean, quiet and the beds are fantastic. It is conveniently located next to Grand Central Station so it's a great hopping off point for anywhere you'd like to go.

The people are great. They're prompt, curtious and always ready to help.

The common spaces leave you wanting. Both times I've stayed here there have been bags of trash and vacuum cleaners abandoned in the hallways. The lobby isn't great, but that isn't something that really matters to me.

The first time I stayed here I had breakfast in pub downstairs. It was not good and the utensils were dirty. There are better places to get a bite to eat so I'd take a pass on food. It's New York City after all...

I've learned in NY that "boutique hotel" means small hotel.  I wasn't very impressed with the Fitzpatrick, other than the fact that it was close to Grand Central Station.

PROS:
1. soft bed
2. clean room

CONS:
1. There was no one at the door to help me with my bags, taxi or anything
2. The lady at the counter (Marilyn) was kinda of bitchy, and didn't mention any amenities offered by the hotel
3. The room was small, with large curtains over the bed and window  Our view was of a brick wall... no sun made it through our window
4. There was a strong cologne smell which was either leftover from a previous visitor, or some scent in their cleaning supplies
5. The tub didn't drain, gross.
6. Our toilet paper got low and there wasn't another roll in the room.  As a result, we ran out of toilet paper
7. The AC unit in the room froze one side of the bed and barely reached the other
8. The TV in the room was pretty small

A lovely hotel! Stayed here with some relatives for a girls weekend in NYC last year. We had a suite and a room with a double bed. Both were very spacious, clean, very comfortable beds, luxurious linens. Bathrooms were a bit small.
We spent some time in the Pub and had a great time. The bartenders were friendly and fun. Had breakfast in the Wheeltapper as well and it was average. Nothing outstanding but it's hard to mess up bacon and eggs.

I've just returned from yet another very pleasant stay at this unpretentious midtown hideaway, just steps away from Grand Central Station. Here's the basic story:

It's Irish.
this means lots of  accents, lots of Aer Lingus crews on overnights, lots of staff over from Dublin.

It's green.
 See above.

It's cozy.
The rooms are remarkably comfortable, quiet, and pleasant for a midtown boutique. The beds are sink-in comfortable, the amenities well-suited, the bathrooms nice, the bathrobes comfy, and to date, on every trip, everything has worked.

It's friendly.
Mark, (in the US from Dublin for a year), was working the desk when I checked in---harried, rushed, and hassled after the flight. He got me in my room in moments, with a smile and a friendly chat.

The concierge (Catherine, I believe, but with apologies I can't recall) when I was leaving was able to quickly and pleasantly get me checked in to my flights, and print out my boarding passes --- even though I couldn't remember what flights I was on, or my frequent flier number. Not only friendly, but approaching demi-goddess status for a forgetful traveler in a hurry.

It's convenient.
next to the station & the subway, blocks from great shopping and eating, easy to get to and get away from. 'Nuff said.

It's affordable.
with my last minute plans, my deluxe room (larger than a postage-stamp Schraeger room, not bad for NYC, but certainly not palatial in size) cost at least $50 less per night than anything even vaguely comparable. Yahoo!

I've been before. I'll be back again.

If you're looking for a place to stay, not a scene, this is a great spot.

And it's just a hop away to any scene you'd care to be seen in.

Four "'Nil Sen La', Erin Go Bragh" starry stars!

I'm currently staying here for three nights while spending some time working out of our New York offices.

I'm actually enjoying the place quite a bit since it's meeting my three basic room requirements plus a few great extras. Those three are of course a comfortable bed with nice linens, cleanliness overall and a great, hot shower.

I also like the fact that I'm on the 5th floor in the back of the hotel, which faces the backs of some other office buildings, and the room is so QUIET. I mean, I can't remember the last time I said that about any hotel room in Manhattan. Ever.

Things I see that need improvement: they've tried really hard and failed miserably with the lobby. I think it's supposed to be some kind of Irish library or something with faux shelves of books and little uncomfortable-looking sitting areas, but it's just not cutting it. The lobby entrance and surrounding areas are awkward and stark, with all flourescent lighting and bright green carpeting. It's kind of unsettling.

The whole lobby needs an overhaul big time with the addition of some good lighting and some comfortable overstuffed furniture or something. The whole place makes me just rush through it and make a mad dash for the elevator to get up to my room.

Speaking of which, my room is also quite dark, which I actually like. I don't have to worry about bright, stark sunlight in the morning, especially since I'm still on West Coast time.

I'd highly recommend this place for business or pleasure travel, since the rooms are on the smaller size, but well-appointed and even comes with a nice robe.

Haven't had any opportunity to interact with the staff except at check-in, and that was adequate, but my housekeeping seems to be totally on it.

I'll definitely stay here again.

What a great hotel! I never wanted to get out bed -- I've stayed in a lot of Heavenly Bed- and Sweet Sleeper-equipped hotel rooms and none of them holds a candle to the cloud-like softness of our sheets and comforter. The room was also a lot larger than I expected, especially for the NYC-reasonable price of $289/night.

The staff was nice and professional, and the bartender makes an excellent Irish coffee. The only flaw was the 45 minutes it took the bellman to find us a cab when we were ready to go to the airport.

Had a pretty terrible experience. We got THE SMALLEST "DELUXE" ROOM. It was so goddam small it just drove me nutso to think we were paying the same as another person who got a much bigger room. Plus there was some sort of construction going on and there were carpets rolled in the hallway to our room.

Located only one block from the east entrance of Grand Central Station, the Fitzpatrick Hotel is a great hotel choice if you are looking for convenience and comfort.  The staff is very friendly and professional.  The lobby area is small but the rooms are spacious. Where the Fitzgerald shines is in its ability to make you feel at home and welcomed- the Irish way.
