These guys are friendly, honest, and really helpful. Every time I go there, I talk to Lyle who answers the phone and Dan who is I think the owner. If they tell me I need a repair on the car, I know it's true and I do it. They don't invent problems or upsell repairs or anything. Many times they'll tell me, maybe after an oil change, that everything looks great and I'm good to go. Or they'll tell me that such-and-such is fine for now, but maybe the next oil change we'll want to replace it. They've replaced a lightbulb or windshield wiper blade here and there without even charging me, and I didn't even know they needed replacing.
My 2002 Ford Focus is coming up on 160,000 miles, and it's their top-quality preventive maintenance that has kept this car running virtually problem-free for the last 5 years I've been taking it here. Several times Lyle has given me a ride back to work if they find they'll need to keep the car there for a while. Fitzgerald's comes highly recommended for all the repair and maintenance your car needs. -

I started coming here on the recommendation of my aunt and uncle when I got my first car 7 years ago. For a short period of time I decided to go to a place closer to our new apartment. HORRIBLE IDEA. I got scammed for thousands of dollars.
Anyway, back to Dan it was. Dan and his crew have always been super friendly and helpful. If you need a ride back home or to work, no problem. Dan will tell you like it is and if work isn't necessary he won't do it. He will tell you what's important and what can wait. If you want an honest mechanic who won't take your money when it's not necessary, you should check this place out. -

Honest, reliable, reasonable costs, works within your budget and needs, friendly and personable.
I've been taking my Mazda to Fitzgeralds for 3 years now and have always received great service. It took awhile to find an honest, reliable mechanic in Costa Mesa who would tell me when I needed minimal work done rather than major service and prioritized needs to fit my budget.
Dan, the owner, is a great guy who is straight with you, very easy to communicate with, and you can tell that he has you and your car's best interests in mind in order to establish a meaningful business-client relationship.
When I dropped off my car in the morning for work, he even gave me a ride home.
Fitzgeralds is clean, organized, and they treat the interior of my car with care, too.
Great auto mechanic shop! -

It's hard to find a good mechanic so I thought it would be important to post a review for Fitzgeralds. I have been going to Fitzgeralds for over 6 years and have referred my family and friends to them. Dan and his team at Fitzgeralds are one of those rare types of mechanics that will tell you, despite you insisting that the noise your car is making must mean some expensive part needs to be replaced (cuz that's what it said when you looked it up on the internet), that a bolt just needed to be tightened and your car is ready to be picked up. BTW - they are also AAA approved so you don't have to just take my word for it. ;o)

Ok, so how hard is it to find a good anything now-a-days? I was surprised that this little place right around the corner from my house was by far the most amazing little auto shop around. Their staff is so sweet and don't take you (me being a girl especially) for a fool. Even though I know nothing about cars and even when I explain the problem or weird sound, they just take care of it without charing an arm and a leg. I love them and they are fantastic! KUDOS :)

My serpentine belt started to shred and I could not find the problem. I took it to Fitzgerald. It took two days and about four belts but it came down to a water pump bearing that was just starting to go. I know they spent a lot of time on it. They charged me for the bearing, one belt and a few hours of labor. I know they only charged about a quarter of what it cost to fix. I tried to give them more and they would not take it. The only thing they said was if I liked the service to come back. Even though it is a little far for me to get to, I take all the families cars to Fitzgeralds. And after one and a half years I've always been treated like family there. Great place.

Brought a used car I was buying here to get checked up. They were friendly and answered all of my questions about the car. The inspection cost $85 and they threw in a free oil change coupon.
I wound up buying it so we'll see how it does down the road. -

Very friendly. Great customer service. Felt like I was a part of their family owned business. Recommend highly.
