Once again Franco spent 9 nights at "his" holiday camp and he is now home comfortably sleeping. The great thing about fit n fury is our dog comes home exactly the way he went in..healthy and happy.

it is cool to watch him get excited as we get there and happily goes with one of the great people working there, wagging his tail all the way down the hall..that is all I need to see to give me comfort that we are leaving him.

thanks again for taking such care of Franco ..the staff is excellent and we appreciate the genuine care..

I have lingered on writting this for over a year and am still peeved so I think I need to share.  I called to book boarding for my two dogs and was disapointed that not only had the prices gone up but the level of service offerings had gone down but you could purchase packages at a much higher rate to include things like additional play time.  I booked because at the time I had no other options but then was able to get a housesitter to stay with the dogs so I called to cancel.  Apparently there was a cancellation charge of $50 that was only able to be credited for services and not cash.  I had never been told about the non-refundable holding fee so they had me speak with the assistant manager, the manager and then finally the owner.  I literally spent an hour just trying to get my 50 bucks back.  By the time I got to speak with the owner he was a complete arogant ass and basically told me about how I was wasting his time and how he was sure that his company had already spent the $50 just having to listen to me.

Seriously!?!?!??! last time I chaecked you are in a service business buddy.  If you had managers that were authorized to make decisions it would never have gone so far.

Needless to say the whole expierience left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't be back.  Not to mention I was getting tired of having to give my dog a bath after he got home from day care from the pee smell that he always reaked of.

I knew it was going to be a bumpy ride for my dog when we dropped him off this being his first time away from us and totally alone at night but, we drove the extra distance to Fit'n'furry because they seemed to have such great reviews.

Well for us, the reviews didn't really make sense. First off we gave him a few toys and a blanket from home so he would feel a bit better but I guess the people working there didn't think he need them because EVERY time we looked at the web cam his stuff was never in the "suite" with him. And my favorite is when we called twice to ask about it one girl put me on hold to look then got back on the phone, said, 'oh they are in there and he is sleeping on his bed". Ummm HELLO you have a freaking web cam in the room I'm looking at him right now thanks for BS.

Anyway we paid for him to be fed at a certain time and and he wasn't. We paid for him to get a "bedtime story" and "tucked in" and we never saw that happen. And I just cant understand how some people would think its OK to leave these dogs locked up from 7pm to 6am.

All they really care about is up-selling you to a package they will not deliver on. Some advice to them is if your going to lie to my face you may want to unplug the web cam.

I simply was looking for a safe place to take care of my dog overnight while I attended my father's memorial. When I called the person on the phone kept trying to "upsell" me on things that added to the cost. I thought it was strange that I would have to pay extra to have 2 walks in a 24 hour person rather than just one, but I "upgraded" in order to keep him sane. I was told the cost would be $65. I thought that was too high but I decided to go for it rather than take him to Olivet Kennel in Santa Rosa, a place I trusted, and a place which, in retrospect, would have been well worth the extra trip.

The next morning I picked him up and they said it was $90. When I explained that the person on the phone said it was 60 and change, they kept insisting it was 90. Then the owner came out, and was already upset(rather than receptive) before she even opened her mouth. After some conversation with her, in which she in no way acknowledged fault, nor seemed to learn how to better serve her clients, she grudgingly "adjusted" the price to what they had told me. She kept talking about a "2 day" fee, knowing full well that he was there for just 24 hours.

I would never go back. If this is how they treat clients, I can only wonder how they treat dogs.

After calling and confirming that new puppy evaluation for boarding was free, we stopped by to board our 3 month old puppy. Upon arriving, they told us they was a charge on top of their already pricey rates and wouldn't budge even after acknowledging the call. We declined and went to a great place down the street with better rates and better facility.

Earlier this year I brought home a beautiful, gentle, happy 8-week-old golden retriever puppy, and named El him Dorado ("The Golden One"), Most the time he goes by the name Dorado. It had been quite a while since I had had a puppy in my life, and I felt fully prepared to give Dorado the time and attention he needed and deserved early on.

I heard good things about FNF so decided to start with a grooming session. "Grooming" is a fancy word for "dog needs bath and general pampering." That went wonderfully well; Dorado came back fluffy, squeaky clean, and happy as can be. (Confession: Dorado's main zone is "happy" so it's always a question of degree. He came home from his bath clearly having truly enjoyed the experience.)

Soon thereafter, I had need to board Dorado for a couple of nights. FNF has a great selection of boarding options: different kinds of "suites," various walk-and-play session options, and so forth. I chose an option where Dorado would have a comfortable personal habitat along with play sessions with other pups his age, and an adequate number of walks per day.

Dorado is one of the friendliest dogs you'll ever meet, so I was happy to say yes when asked if I would be willing to bring him to FNF's Saturday morning "New Puppy Socialization" hour on a regular basis. Of all the things you can do to help your new pup, giving him or her the chance to hang out and play with other pups his age is really one of the best. There are things dogs can learn only from other dogs, just as elementary school kids learn in special ways from other kids in the free-form exploration known as recess. Of course, FNF's Saturday socialization hour is thoroughly supervised by loving and attentive humans, so it's really a way for your pup to improvise with fellow pups under the watchful care of FNF staff.

As for formal training: I did the first stage myself at home, chiefly consisting of minimal instructions like "No!" when Dorado got the idea that using his teeth to snag a neighbor's pant legs was an acceptable way to say Hi. Soon I realized Dorado needed a more deliberate manner of being told how to express his "dog nature" in ways suited to a world shared with humans. So I chose FNF's two-week (Monday-Friday) program where he got intensive personalized training using state-of-the-art methods for reinforcing desired behaviors and discouraging non-desired behaviors. I want to emphasize that I considered other local trainers before choosing FNF. Several factors sold me on FNF's training program: the instructors are thoroughly trained in proven methods, and they clearly love animals. Frankly, Dorado made the final choice. He loves coming to FNF because everyone there adores him, and they don't hesitate to show it.

The training program culminated with me and my 12-year-old son getting a comprehensive session in which the methods used by the trainers were transferred to us quickly and easily. This is really important, since, after all, Dorado's long-term behavior with us is what matters. We both continue working to reinforce his skills. It's wonderful to see all the ways a dog is pleased when his humans are pleased. (Whenever I see untrained, leashed dogs dragging weary, nagging humans along for the ride, I realize my investment in Dorado's training will pay off for many years to come.)

Dorado is now in his 8th month of life. No longer the smallest dog on the block, by any means; but still a pup at heart. He continues to be a regular at FNF's doggie daycare program, which has options for both half-day and full-day playtime. There's nothing quite like his excitement when we drive into FNF's driveway.

Well, it's pretty clear I'm a huge fan of Fit 'N' Furry, having used so many of their service options. I thoroughly recommend FNF to you and your canine companion(s), both young and old. I consider everyone who's associated with this fine organization to be family. You will, too.

My hound loves this place. She has done overnight stays and doggie day care and has a great time every time.

The staff are great and the services top notch. I would recommend Fit 'N' Furry to anyone looking for a safe and reasonably priced boarding, grooming, or day care option.

I know a couple of staff people here.  I tried to work here too, but apparently my tattoos are too offensive (most of which are my pets)...I did however board my parents dogs here overnight and they liked it a lot.  They have some very fancy doggy rooms, and the whole places is just nice.

The one thing that always bothered me was the lack of outdoor yards...and the fact that the dogs have to potty indoors...I would think this would confuse dogs, all of whom (hopefully) have been conditioned to peeing OUTside.  I guess they're doing fine with that though so...good on them.

My wife brought our dog in for a wash and anal gland smell treatment. When she picked him up she noticed that after all of this treatment the dog still smelled on the ride home.
When I got home from work I took him for a walk, he stopped in the middle of the road rolled over on his back and started scratching.. I got him home and could find no evidence of fleas but when I brushed him he had the worst case of dry skin I have ever seen!
We called them back and they said to bring him back in for a medicated wash (no charge). I made an appointment and even though I was late they still allowed him to come in anyway. I was told about two hours. When I called they said now it would be four hours, I could not wait and told my wife to pick him up. she went after five hours and he was still not ready, our friend picked him up five and a half hours later.
I am also amazed that their are 16 reviews and 46 filtered. I think this guy knows how to work this system? We wont be going back!

    Bullet points:
    * Minor strangeness
    * Pricey
    * Three stars for nice facility

Four stars to start - I've only taken the Bear there for grooming so far, but the facility is huge and looks well thought out.

    ---

Update:  Took the Bear back and they tried to charge me $30 more for grooming.  I explained that it would be nice to know how much it is, because $80 is just WAY too much.  They dropped the price, but still more than I paid the first time.  They were pleasant, but that puts them pretty expensive.  Minus one star...

    ---

The people were friendly and helpful as they greeted us from behind a long desk in an absolutely cavernous entry lobby.

I was a bit apprehensive when the groomer came out to get the Bear...  She loomed over him and tried to pat him on the head - two big no-nos when approaching a strange dog.  I actually mentioned it to her, and the others there took the incident to heart and said something about a "bit more training."

But, the Bear had a nice time and when I picked him up he was happy, thinner-looking, with silky fur.

They have something they call the "furminator" which is supposed to extract all the loose under-coat and prevent a lot of shedding.  So far it seems to work.  Usually the Bear shakes and enough fur to make a Pekinese flys all over the room - now there is hardly any.  A BIG improvement.

Yes, I know it's sad how I treat the Bear like a precious son.  Sorry.  The kids are grown and gone, and no grandkids have arrived yet.

Of course, I don't want anyone calling me "granddad" just yet anyway...

My groomer last time was Angie, this time was Melissa, and the lion cut is a bit off. I don't care for it much so I will definitely request anything available for Angie next time. And they also charged me $80 to re-cut a barely grown out lion cut from before, which is pretty steep. I know my cat is REALLY well behaved. Before I moved I was paying $55 for the same thing and it was very consistent every time. I will be researching prices a bit more in the area...

Our Dog Frosty stayed at Fit N Furry when we visited relatives in Idaho. It was the first time he has ever been away from the family and the first time he stayed anywhere other than home.

We were able to use the web cam to see him while we were gone and the kids, who were sad, were comforted to see him having a good time.

He did great and he was so spoiled he didn't want to leave his new dog buddies when we came to get him.

I will use Fit 'N' Furry every time we go out of town - a beautiful clean facility perfect for pets.

A certified Green Business, Fit N Furry is a wonderful place to take your pets to. And if you are like us who consider their pets family, then you will know how valuable peace of mind is when you are away and know your furry friends are in good hands.

Super clean and friendly, they are wonderful and worth the money. We have been going to them for almost two years now and will continue to do so.

They also offer training classes and a great grooming service, especially around shedding time and even a special bath to get rid of "skunk" smell ;)

We have taken our dog to pretty much every boarding facility in Marin and now drive the extra distance for Fit N Furry. We love this place and our dog, Stinson does too!

Not only is the place immaculate and eco friendly, the staff there is extremely friendly and our dog often seems to enjoy spending time there more than he does with me.

We take him there several times a week for the day boarding where he gets to play with a bunch of other well behaved dogs.  It's really nice that you can log in online and monitor the rooms via webcam. Stinson has also stayed overnight on several occasions and always seem to enjoy himself.

I would definitely recommend this place and suggest buying one of their passes to save money.

This place really rocks! When my husband and I first went in, we were happily greeted by the owner and given a tour--we had not even called ahead! It's a gorgeous building with 3 different playrooms. You cannot help but smile with the gracious and attentive staff.

We had to leave our very nervous Vizsla there for 8 days and they took such excellent care of him. He hates kennels, but this is no ordinary kennel. He had a luxury suite and we were able to view him from Greece! He was relaxed and happy when we picked him up and that has never happened at any other kennel--he's been to over a dozen. The staff spends quality time with the animals. Our dog is on chemo therapy they were especially helpful and conscientious. This place goes above and beyond any expectations I ever had of dog boarding:) A+++++++

My cat boarded for 18 days at Fit N Furry.  I called from the East coast several times to  check on her and was told she was fine and that they were giving her the wet food that I took for her ( charge of an extra $1.00 per day on top of the "high season" charge of $23.00 per day).

I picked up a very hungry and listless cat today.  The staff returned almost all of the wet food that I had taken ( maybe 2 or 3 were used).  My cat was unresponsive and very hungry.  I spent the day talking to her and petting her.......very needy cat who ate 4 servings of the wet food.

I understand that maybe she was traumatized and would not eat, but the fact that they did not even serve her the wet food that I provided which is her favorite was disappointing.

Yes, the facility is clean and the staff are friendly.  I did not know about the web cam which was probably a good thing.

I think  that they might be more  oriented toward dogs and doggy daycare.  My cat is old ( which is why I was so willing to pay the price for her care) and probably did not make any demands.  I feel like she was not really cared for very well.  She is bouncing back, thankfully.

I booked them in by phone and they mentioned one price.  When I picked up my animals they had added a huge surcharge apparently for the holiday season.  It was totally unexpected and I was a little miffed by the attitude when I complained. When I spoke to the owner, he insisted that I wasn't listening-EXCUSE ME.  How could I hear it if it wasn't mentioned.  I was so offended by the attitude and rudeness.  Will never take or recommend to anyone.

We have taken our lil guy here on a couple of occasions and all has seemed to work out thus far.  The staff seems to be very professional and caring, the facility is clean and we like the concept of an "indoor yard" for our pup to play in. The cams to watch the pets on are innovative and the individual rooms are a great idea for individual stays.  The rates for single days are reasonable and we will continue to take the dog for the foreseeable future when the occasions present themselves.

I would absolutely think twice before taking a beloved pet to this business. I didn't leave my dog there after an extremely cold reception by staff who were too busy chatting to greet me for my scheduled tour (they also requested my newly adopted pup to be brought in). It was a very loud lobby with large dogs visible under door cracks scratching and whining which, understandably, made my somewhat shy puppy nervous. After sitting through the interview/pre-screen (in which absolutely nothing was asked about my dog's personality or behavior other than did he bite/what does he go to the bathroom on). I felt uncomfortable allowing my dog to go back to a room full of dogs with the employee who had called my boy "annoying" and a "brat" for barking and yipping when he'd hear other dogs freaking out. I was shocked that simply saying I wasn't comfortable having them take him without me and that I'd need to find another place prompted them to use swear words and shout after me that "my dog's behavior made perfect sense"!! I'm sorry if I care about my 6 month old puppy who grew up in a shelter and barks when he hears other dogs in distress! I do not think it's unreasonable to expect a professional or even  an ambivalent response from calmly explaining to staffers that you, as the owner and caretaker, are uncomfortable with a situation. The owners really need to sit down and reevaluate their staffing decisions especially as there are much more friendly and knowledgeable places in abundance in Petaluma let alone the rest of Sonoma County!

we started coming here for puppy socializing class three weeks ago. i wasn't sure what to expect. the only dogs my puppy had ever socialized with were.. dogs. and none of which were at all interested in playing or rough housing. we walked in at the same time as an adorable chocolate lab, sam. mac and sam quickly became the best of friends.

we were taken back to a room where the pups would socialize, and the owners could sit around the room and watch. don't get me wrong, i love being able to watch mac run around, play, learn and even get corrected a few times. but there are certainly some owners who should not be allowed to stay; following around their pups as if they were helpless and disabled, and only nurturing and encouraging their fears of social puppies.

other than that, i look forward to every sunday morning. mac loves his puppy friends sam, boe, rico, cooper and ollie. and i love knowing that he will be a positive member of canine society.

I LOVE this place. I take Bizzy here every Friday for daycare and I also get her groomed here. The prices are right and the people truly care about animals. I had taken her to Petco and other groomers in the past and she was always and emotional mess from how the groomers treated her. At Fit 'N'Furry, she loves to get groomed! The staff knows her name every time she prances in and they are always super helpful. I love this place. Take your pets here!!

My dog, Lucy, has been coming to Fit N Furry day care AND boarding since they opened. Lucy is a black lab/rottwieler mix, and very few places would even let me bring her in for a trial. Lucy gets exercise and discipline--2 things that she doesn't get at home alone--and the socialization that she really craves. Fit N Furry is her home away from home and the location is perfect--right off 101--and on my way to work.
The owners and staff are customer focused and really work hard to ensure that your pet is taken care of, and TIRED when they go home. I'm teased at work about the "poochy cam" all the time, but it's nice to be able to see what she's doing in the midst of my busy day.
I heartily recommend Fit N Furry for both day care AND boarding.
