Mitchell W.
Chef Mitchell Weiss and his family have been successful local restaurateurs for over two decades, and in 2011, they decided to realize their dream of bringing a taste of the sea to Vero Beach. At Fishack, we serve fresh, flavorful seafood alongside a full bar and an incredible margarita list. And to match the flavor on our plates, we keep our space colorful, fun, and casual, from our breezy outdoor patio to our relaxed dining room. If you're looking to grab some serious seafood in a laid-back atmosphere, steer your ship toward Fishack.

The Fishack is a funky beach-themed bar and restaurant featuring many varieties of seafood. The decor is mostly beach kitsch with lots of hand-painted details and some great murals. (The ladies room included!)
We were in the neighborhood to visit the place next door and decided to stop in for a pre-drink beverage. After seeing some yummy food options delivered to others sitting at the bar we had a look at the menu and ordered the conch fritters and the lobster mac & cheese. The conch fritters were small, but had nice big chucks of conch in them. They were the conch-iest fritters I have ever had and I would order them again and again! The folks next to us also order some oysters that looked great, some fish tacos and a grilled fish sandwich, all of which they seemed really happy with.
In addition to the yummy food options, they had a great choices at the bar, both in beer and in flavored vodka selections. Next time we are in the area I would love to stop back in!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Marion S.Vero Beach, FL02616Apr 12, 2024Updated review

This place has delicious food! The service was excellent even on a packed Friday during lent! They will reimburse you if you park across the street in the 5 dollar lot. We met the owner Mitch who was there expiditing food and helping! Fishermans basket was the best I ever had as far as fried oysters, scallops were huge, shrimp and fish. Fishermans stew was loaded with seafood. I am not sure about these people complaing about a 2.50 upcharge for onion rings it state it right on the menu! If you are upset about 2 dollars then go eat at McDonalds. Bloody mary was awesome, I cant say enough about the quality of the food. Awesome. Cool vibe and casual.

While spending the night in Santee, NC, we enjoyed dinner at Seafood Fishack. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and the delightful server Denise. I can vouch for their clam chowder , shrimp & grits, Caesar salad & especially their collard greens. We were too full for dessert but their key lime pie & peach cobbler looked amazing...

Some of the best seafood that I've had in years. The calamari was absolutely perfect in every way.

Wow wow wow!! This is hands down the best fried seafood I've ever had! And blows every other seafood joint in the vero area, out of the water! The staff was so kind. We went on off hours at 2:30 pm and would recommend that as it was easy to get a table. Other times I hear there is a line out the door. And for great reason! We had the shrimp and scallop basket and the shack fish sandwich. Every single thing was cooked to perfection! Even the fries! The scallops were huge and so tender as well as the shrimp! I've been so disappointed with all fish places in this area since I started visiting 10 years ago. But finally I have a go-to place! The owner was on premises and so friendly. The interior decors was very cute with beach murals on the wall. I only wish I had discovered this place 10 years sooner!! Some complain about parking but the lot across the street is $5 and if you show them your parking receipt on your phone they will take the $5 off your bill. Love this place!! Will for sure be back!

A lunch stop in a quaint part of town that is popular with the locals.
I went with the fried fish (Cod), substituting the fries for their famous Angel Hair Onion. (You can order the Angel Hair Onion as a side for $2.50 - my "substitution" for the fries still netted a $2.50 upcharge.)
The fried Cod strips was good, although the breading was a bit dark ( fry oil needs filtering?)
The Angel Hair Onion rings were wonderful!
Authentic Key Lime Pie for dessert was very good!
Great friendly service by our server who was hustling for several tables and booths.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 2 - Nov 24, 2022
We had a decent lunch with good service here. And we liked most of our meal with a few caveats.
I had their conch chowder -- which was more full of pepper than spicy. The base was flavorful, but I couldn't taste any conch or any pieces of conch. Then I had their fried oyster appetizer. The oysters were wonderful. They tasted freshly shucked and were lightly floured and fried.
My husband had their fish and chips. The fish was cod. I tasted his fish -- it was not very good; I did not care for the breading plus it tasted over fried, slightly burnt, and hard. The thin onion rings that he substituted (upgrade charge of $2.50) for the fries were good.
We shared a slice of key lime pie for dessert. It was the right color and a pretty authentic version.
I'd certainly return for their oysters or another of their baskets (maybe the shrimp?) and skip the chowder next time.Helpful 16Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Jul 21, 2023Updated review
A nice find for me and my friend. Stumbled across this restaurant quite by accident. It seems as if it's a locals joint...looks old and worn--in a good way! The waitress Katie couldn't have been nicer--she steered us both to the shrimp/scallop combo basket. It was wonderful. Lightly breaded, tender and juicy seafood. The fries were really hot right out of the fryer. They have a pretty nice menu and food for the carnivores, too. I recommend it highly.

Great waitress and staff. Extensive menu. Great fried oysters and fries, fabulous NE clam chowder, and the mahi wrap was excellent. I would definitely go there again next time I'm in the mood for a local restaurant.

We love this restaurant and go at least once a week. Staff is great too. Mario makes the best margaritas in Vero!
