Hangover food at it's finest, a staple take-out joint in South Boston.
The Fish Pier offers a selection fried seafood and chicken, burgers, dogs, and salad. It's a step up from your average sub joint and offers some well made fried food.
The Fish Pier is located on East Broadway near the intersection of K Street. Parking isn't bad... you probably wont' get a space right in front but you should find something aroudn the corner easily enough.
Inside, the Pier is like any small sandwich shop. A half dozen booth provide seating, there's plenty of space, and it's generally clean and well kept.
The staff has always been prompt and polite when I've been there. Service is fast and prices are exremely fair.
The food is what you're here for... fried basket of goodness. My buddies and I swore by the fried chicken basket to help cope with a hangover. I can't say the chicken was fresh or frozen, I just know it was fried crisp and tasted very very good. For $6 bucks, you can't go wrong. -

Our family sticks to the calimari (when they have it), the fish and chips, and the chicken basket.
I wish the pace looked just a little neater...there's something very unappealing about the lighting...or something, so 1 star off. Plus there often seems to be some kind of adolescent drama going on in the doorway. No thanks I can get that at home!
I personally love the calimari- it's fresh and nicely fried. The teens (mine) like the fried chicken and it's extremely inexpensive. You can add a baked potato and a side salad and feel a tiny bit healthy and when you are really feeling lazy they deliver! It's not a bad option for a night you just can't cooke. -

When I lived in Southie, Fish Pier was about the only reason I looked forward to having a hangover. The Chicken and Chips is great for that. There other food is good too, but Chicken and Chips is my fave.
Now that I work on the edge of Southie, Fish Pier is more of a treat than anything else (screw you work for your "no hangover" policy). Delivery is good, fast, but somewhat expensive... I feel like something isn't right with the price but than again there's usually like 10 people ordering with me so that might just be the reason. -

Good delivery restaurant for South Boston. Variety of seafood, chowders, lobster roll, etc. The menu is available online at:

This place brings back memories. Living in Southie as a kid, you quickly learn where to buy good fried things. The Pier definitely gave you fried in fish and chicken form. I don't know if I could eat it today, but I will still be sad to see it go.

I have lived in Southie for 2 years and walked past this place a million times and was nervous to try it. I finally decided to give it a shot and I am glad I did. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and told me that they are a seafood place famous for their chicken and chips. So I got the chicken basket and a fried shrimp basket. Both were really good.

I like the Fish Pier alot, and use to be a favorite place to go when i was younger.
Some of the good meals there are the BBQ Burger and the crab cakes, but the chicken and chips are the way to go there. Some meals are over priced, but well worth it.
I know its a fish joint, and I would eat there more often, if it wasn't so dingy. -

This place makes me happy for two reasons: their food is great and the place is as authentic Southie as it gets - no fancy cocktail menu, no swank decor - just straight up good food and a place to eat it.
Their fried seafood is wonderful and comes with fries and veggies, which are always fresh and made to order. I have had their scallops, shrimp, fish, clams and even their chicken, and it is all tasty and fresh as can be. One plate is enough to feed two or three hungry people, but I refuse to share and always leave incredibly uncomfortably full but happy as can be.
Their decor is straight up old posters of Boston and fish, and if you are there during peak times you are sure to hear some awesome conversations between the locals about current events and who is doing what (or who) in what family. Do yourself a favor and take a walk around Castle Island to get your appetite going and then fill yourself to the brim. Don't forget to ask for the chicken dipping sauce, I have no idea what is in ti but it's Matty's favorite and he is a picky sauce-r. -

the fi9rst one star review I have given in Boston. Look, a place known as the 'Fish Pier' and the person behind the counter recommends as what they do best . . . . the chicken? Must be an interesting place they fish. Anyway, the fish and chips were terrible--while they didn't make me sick, I definitely did not feel well afterwards. Progresso makes better clam chowder.
Perhaps the chicken is better, as people below attest-- i would certanly keep an open mind about that if I ate chicken, but do not.
In sum, yuck. -

Great under new owner, the food is improving! The chicken and chips are still a solid lunch choice for me. When I first moved to Boston, the fish and chips had me coming back to the Fish Pier. They quality and portion sizes dropped off over the last few years, so I am glad the plates are coming back to the old quality!

I only got delivery from here, so I'm hoping to go back for a better sense of the food. I got clam chowder, which was thick and creamy. I'm always confused as to what chowder's "supposed" to be like. I'm not usually a fan of the thick, but this was pretty good- a good size and quite filling. I order the clam plate (fully belly) and fries, quite good, somewhat soggy when they got to me. They were delivered on a paper plate with a plate just thrown on top which I thought was kind-a weird. For both items, it was $21.90 which I thought was steep... I do plan on going back for lunch, so we'll see how it goes.

Fish here is decent. They have a nice variety and I have had good meals here. You can eat in or take out.

This place gave me the worst food poisoning from their fish and chips. As we waited for food we could see into the kitchen and it wasn't pretty-- I regretted eating it immediately. This place should be inspected for food safety hazards. My friends didn't get sick from the burgers and fries they ate but both reported they were some of the worst burgers they've eaten.

Good fish and chips, good chowder, good fried seafood, esp the clams. I like takeout from the Fish Pier personally, the eat-in area does nothing for me. All in all a good place for takeout/ delivery.

'eh. the scallops and clams are pretty good. i don't like the chicken like most people rave about- it tastes weird. the batter for the onion rings is awful and the french fries aren't too great either- i asked for them to be cooked well done and they were soggy as anything.
