Fair City MallWhat is First Watch?
First Watch is a restaurant chain that serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch for the health-conscious.
The First Watch in Fairfax is situated in Fair City Mall between Ulta and Jenny Craig. Only by word of mouth or simply passing First Watch would you know it was there.
I've finally dined there on Friday afternoon.
Note: First Watch is opened everyday, but from 7am to 2:30pm. They are not open in the evenings.
I ordered the Breakfast Scramble: "A flaky croissant topped with scrambled eggs loaded with spinach, ham, and melted cheese, then topped with hollandaise and served with fruit". Of course, I asked for it without the ham.
My boyfriend ordered the Caps Etc.: "Fresh mushroom caps seasoned and sauteed to perfection, topped with melted Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese. Served with two fresh eggs and an English muffin".
Because I'm suffering from a mild hangover (thanks Hook), I'm going to list the pluses and negatives of my dining experience at First Watch:
+ Very vegetarian-accommodating!
+ "Pure Squeezed" orange juice.
+ Original dishes (e.g. Acapulco Express Omelette, Floridian French Toast, and Fruity Chicken Salad Bowl).
+ Weekly specials.
+ Large portions.
+ Fruit bowl/side has chunks of fresh cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberries and watermelon. Yum!
+ First Watch Potatoes (Potatoes cooked in healthy soybean oil and seasoned).
- Caps Etc. was slightly too salty.
- Uncomfortable seats.
- Spotty service: Slightly inefficient, yet friendly. (They forgot the side of English Muffin.)
Do you need more reasons to go to First Watch? The following points were copied from their menu (which you can find on their website).
* No charge if you share or ask for an extra plate.
* Kids menu is available.
* Never charged an automatic gratuity, for any size party.
* Smoke-free environment.
* No fryers.
* Cholesterol-free eggs or egg whites can be substituted for no additional charge.
* Free refills on soft drinks, tea and coffee.
* Complimentary newspapers (Washington Post at the Fairfax location) and free Wi-Fi!
I'm definitely going back. First Watch is going to become my new favorite breakfast spot!
