Very good, we came here because of Yelp

The bacon and hashbrowns was great. The crab Benedict was good but packed eggs slightly overcooked.  But great service great selection. We can't wait to comeback!

What a treat!

I Yelped for a place to eat while stopping in Port Angeles and this spot had some good reviews. It was also located right downtown so I liked the location better than some other options I'd considered.

My first impression was great because the people were so accommodating. They are a breakfast/brunch spot and close at 2pm on Sundays. We walked in at 1:58 and they welcomed us. PHEW!

The menu was awesome and choosing one dish was almost impossible. I settled on the dungeness crab eggs benedict (served on a buttery croissant) ... what a smart choice! My friend ordered the smoked salmon scramble - it was equally tasty. I even spied on the people next to us and the french toast looked so good. The portions of the dishes were great, the hash browns were perfect, and even their options of toast were plentiful.

In less than 30 minutes we sat down, ordered, and ate. It was some of the fastest (yet best) service I've ever had! The only downside is that they don't have a bathroom on the premises. Other than that - it was PERFECT!

This is probably about as good as you're going to find in Port Angeles for breakfast and it certainly didn't disappoint. I only found First Street Haven because I went online looking for a good non-chain breakfast joint and read the rave reviews from fellow Yelpers.

We showed up just after 7am and parked right in front First Street Haven which is in the heart of downtown Port Angeles; walked in, were warmly welcomed and took a seat. The place was mostly empty and our order, oatmeal and a jumbo omelette arrived ten minutes later. The decor is basic downtown diner - nothing special and utilitarian with a small counter and some tightly packed tables. The food is hearty, well made and reasonably priced as long as you're willing to spend almost $30 for breakfast for two which is what we spent with tax/tip.

First Street Haven is just a couple of blocks from the ferry terminal so getting over there in time to board wasn't a problem. All in all, I thought this was a nice surprise: good food at a reasonable price served quickly and with some true warmth.

After checking the Yelp listings, we decided on "First Street Haven" for breakfast. (Since it's sooo small, the place can be tricky to find.) But it is certainly worth the trouble. I had the Smoked Salmon scramble, and my Other-Half had the Popeye scramble. Wonderful stuff!
But if you go, (and you like coffee), be sure to order their "House Dark Roast." We enjoyed it so much, we bought a pound of the coffee beans to take home. (It gave the car a wonderful aroma!)
ALL of the coffee cakes were moist, huge, and delicious. They make them from scratch every day, based on what's fresh. (One morning, we had the blackberry, the next, cherry.)
We are definitely going back the next time we visit!

Best chicken sandwich I have ever had.

That really should be all you need to know.  This place melted my fucking face off, and I loved every minute of it.  The quality of the food was truly out of this universe.  The chicken sandwich had a YUGE DD chicken breast that was truly grilled to perfection.  It had that wonderful smoke/char/fresh grilled taste (it was grilled on an ACTUAL grill) and it was oh-so moist.  I didn't want to take it out of my mouth.

Other highlights:
- side salad was fresh, green, and amazing
- the lemonade is MADE FRESH and is also BOTTOMLESS.  I love fresh lemonade and I'm used to paying 5 smokes for a plastic cup at a fare.
- atmosphere is very charming.  Reminds me of the rail-road car diners of Spokane
- staff was incredibly nice and very diligent on drink refills

We came here for the July 4th weekend.  First day I had their seasonal hazelnut strawberry waffle, which was tasty and I'm glad I worked it off hiking up at Hurricane Ridge.  Second day I had the garden scramble with a DELICIOUS scone.  Their cappucinos are first-rate and the waitstaff does really care if your food tastes good.

The place is a little too cozy for me and their barstools don't allow enough room for your legs/knees.  Also, the girls will snap at each other and aren't really quiet about it; but I guess their efficiency is what makes the restaurant bustle in the first place.  This is probably the best option for breakfast in Port Angeles.

My family and I visited Port Angeles last month and needed a place to eat that was kid-friendly (15mos). We chose Haven while walking down the main street and said, "OOH, look, people are eating there!"

We entered the narrow, but warm/inviting wood-paneled restaurant. The walls had random kitschy items. There were several tables that sat either 2 or 4 people and a bar for single diners. It was crowded, but fortunately a corner booth (the only one) was the free table.

We seated ourselves and immediately the server appeared with menus and a coloring page/crayons for our toddler which was very much appreciated. She returned shortly to wipe the table, brought water and took our orders while entertaining our many questions and requests for substitutions.

I ordered the Haven wrap, which had rice, pesto, chicken, cheese and came with a side of fries. The others ordered a scramble which came with a baked good (chose a raspberry scone) and a chicken sandwich substituted with a whole wheat bun rather than focaccia.

The wrap was just okay, a bit bland, so I made use of the Tabasco left on the table. The fries were plentiful/tasty and the scone was large enough to share with leftover.

Haven shares a single restroom with the next door apparel store, called the Toggery. If you head straight to the back, it's downstairs. There are interesting things to look at while waiting your turn. :)

I was just up in PA this past couple of days and had seen this place on Yelp so made sure I tried it.  It was our last breakfast before heading out of town and I am soooo happy we made it.  The goat cheese, spinach and bacon omlette is to die for.  The portions are huge and you can get a baked good instead of toast!  My bf had the Salmon omlette and thought it was amazing as well.  Very small, cozy place but definitely worth it.  I wish we would have gone earlier and ate all our meals there!

I'm going to have to call it "First Street Heaven." I had a superb omelet with goat cheese, spinach, bacon, scallions, tomatoes, and fresh herbs. With the breakfasts, you get your choice of daily baked goods.  My raspberry scone was still warm!  Also, the hashbrowns were crispy and yum!

It's a tiny, cute place, and we were well attended to.

Being used to the many awesome brunch places in Seattle we were skeptical about finding a good place for breakfast here in port angeles, but this place is awesome!  Definitely all the things you are looking for in a good breakfast spot: good coffee, cozy atmosphere, awesome breakfast selection (eggs benedict, many different types of omelettes, french toast, etc)...  i think the highlight was the cinnamon rolls, served warm in a buttery sauce.

Good breakfast joint. Not your typical. I remember a lot of omelettes. And a decent enough drink. :)

I thought that the place looked interesting despite being a little cramped. The building is really just a wide hallway with tables and chairs on one side and a bar on the other. Lots of wood.

They don't have a bathroom. You have to enter the store next door and use theirs.

Oh, and it was very hard to find. The building face is not very wide!

Some friends and I made a last-minute decision to spend New Year's in Port Angeles (I know, aren't we bizarre). We woke up on New Year's Day a bit worse for wear (more them than me, hah) and decided to find some breakfast. First Street Haven was immediately recommended by our hotel staff and it wasn't long before we discovered why.

The restaurant was small and packed with people, but we were seated immediately. The other patrons were friendly; it was clear that First Street Haven attracts a lot of regulars. The waitstaff was attentive and welcoming to us, even going so far as to take the time to recommend and direct us to the perfect beach for us to explore and stage photos at (and really, it was PERFECT).

The breakfast menu was expansive, and I appreciated all of the options and, as the previous reviewer said, interesting twists on classic breakfast dishes. I had eggs benedict (without ham) on a croissant, which turned out to be delicious. I'm a hollandaise addict, and theirs was top-notch. I'm also a potato addict, and I can say that the hash browns were perfectly cooked...not too crispy, not too soggy. Among the best I've had. They also had decent tea, which is a big thing for me.

I've had a lot of mediocre meals in small towns, but Port Angeles definitely impressed me. This restaurant makes me want to move there. No, really.

Nice breakfast. Fresh, local strawberries on the oatmeal and in the yoghurt parfait, yumm. Those having eggs, bacon, pancakes and such were happy too. This is a good place (only the lattes were less than stellar but you can always have the latte afterwards across the street if you're a coffee snob). A tad pricey but that seems to be the norm in this town.

Tiny little breakfast place with surprisingly good food.  If you're in Port Anj there is no other place you need consider for breakfast.  Excellent cup of coffee and some interesting twists on classic breakfast dishes (I recommend the CA-style Eggs Benedict).

A funny aside - the bathroom for this place is next door in the back room of a men's haberdashery.

We love having breakfast at First Street Haven when visiting Port Angeles.  The restaurant is small but rarely crowded, and the service is prompt and friendly.  The food is very good!  I love their coffee and french toast.
