Don't understand all the complaints here; they did the oil change, didn't try to sell me other services (frankly I would have believed them if they said I need new brakes), and the price was fine.

I rolled into here on a flat tire because it was a couple blocks way from where I blew out a sidewall. They fixed it while I waited, the price was reasonable, and as I'd heard my model of tire was prone to this I got the $80 worth of unlimited road hazard warranty on all four tires.

5,000 miles later I popped the new tire in the same way. This time it wasn't convenient; I had the car towed back to Firestone specifically because of the warranty. I didn't go with the car, either. Seven hours later (!) they call to tell me they have to a) replace the other front tire because it's "bald" (their word, used repeatedly) and b) order both tires. Also, the warranty only covers 50% because of tire wear.  Well, as I said, the new tire had 5K miles on it, and the other one only 8500. They argue that they see this all the time, these tires wear really quickly. I smell bullshit but approve the work, and then realize they haven't quoted me an actual price.

They call me at 5:30 the next day to tell me the work is done, but that they close at 6.  Gee, thanks.  Now ticking on a day and a half.

I go pick up the car Saturday midday, look at the invoice, and its $265--for a warranty repair! Well, I ask to see the tires involved.  The punctured one is good as new, as expected, not 50% wear; the other one is almost indistinguishable, because it's a 65,000-mile tire with 8500 miles on it. A little crowning from underinflation but the only thing "bald" about it is the lie that it needed replacing.

So I argue and the guy denies all knowledge of the analysis or authorization, but offers to cover the second tire under the road hazard warranty--but prorated, too. Brings the price down to $120.  I tell him to take off the $40 they charged, without asking, for a renewal of the road hazard warranty.  Then I tell them to take the new tire off, put the old one back on, and deduct it.  Finally after a lot of loose talk about class action lawsuits, the Better Business Bureau, and calling the county sheriff, he rings me up for $20--which is what I expected to pay for a couple months' prorated warranty repair--tells me to keep the new tire, and hands me the keys.

tl;dr Some of the service agents lie to you about the condition of your tires and upsell you to pay for unnecessary work.

Got 2 new suv tires plus a break job, got a great deal. The guy at the front desk suggested to print some coupons from the web site, which i did and saved a lot of $$$. It did took all day but worse for the price. I did shopped around MV, PA, Sunnyvale,  RWC and didnt find a better price. Will def be back for my other 2tires .

Though it's a little cheaper ($25), it's not at all worth the 90 minute wait. Even if you make an appointment, they still take FOREVER to get their work done. Don't go here unless you're willing to wait hours and hours for the service to be done.

I hate pressure selling. I really do. If you've heard about an offer, and you say you pass, they should just understadn that you're not interested.

    Case in point, Firestone.

I took my car there to get two new tires because my old ones had the steelbelts showing through on the front. The back tires were less old, but as soon as the guy came out he said "Whoa, you need four new tires."

I told him I couldn't afford that, I could barely afford to get the front ones replaced. He said OK and we went in and he got the info down, and specifically went over what I wanted. He told me all about the Lifetime allignment, which would be a good deal if I didn't expect this car to die sometime next year. So I said I'd pass and just get the regular alignment.

THey did the work, pretty quick too, and I came back to sign the stuff and pay for it. There was a different guy behidn teh desk, and I understand that happens. I went to pay and the guy said 'So, you really should get the lifetime alignment." I explained that the price difference would put me into the negative on the whole deal.

"It's only 20 bucks difference." the guy said "For twenty extra bucks, you get lifetime alignment services."

I again told him that I wasn't able to afford it.

"COuld you afford ten more dollars. Would that get you to buy it?"

I explained that I was on a tight budget and that yes, ten dollars more would put me over.

"Come on, you can bring it in to any Firstone and they'll realign your car!" he said.

I wish I could have juts walked away. I would have, but I was probably inches away from one of those front tires blowing, so I needed them. I handed him my card adn said 'The regualr will do' and he got all in a huff and just ran the card and I left.

Here's the worst part: though they rotated my tires and did the alignment, they didn't add air to the ones they moved to the front.

    Never again.

The 1 star I gave was out of the sheer convenience of Google Wifi being available in this location. Break out a laptop, and you're online!

    My horror story:

The asian dude was actually pretty nice in terms of how he handled our transaction, but it was all downhill from there.

A tire had gotten flat overnight and I took it in to get repaired. Natch, it was a sidewall puncture, so it would have to be replaced with a new one. Problem is, all they stock in my car's size is pure crap, so I wanted to throw on my old tire so I could at least limp it to work, which was 3 miles away. ( I had a full set of spares there).

So they highly go against the idea, and insist that they install my full size spare that was sitting in the trunk, and I say alright whatever.

The kicker: I have aftermarket suspension, and the car is lowered by 2 inches, including a piece of suspension that sticks out a bit.

So the technician throws my full spare on, and moves it 10 feet over to a parking spot. I say thank you and begin driving away.

Immediately I smelled a strong rubber burning smell that I was sure was something rubbing on somewhere. I pulled over and checked it out, but couldn't see any sort of issue. So I got onto the nearby freeway to get to work as quickly as possible, and instantly BOOM, the tire explodes from the inside.

After I pulled over and checked it out, turns out the tire was rubbing HARD onto my suspension, and it had completely sliced it open from the inside, rubbing off the paint clean off my springs.

The technician never checked the clearance, and I ended up putting the old leaky tire back on, and chugging it to work to fix it myself.

Sorry asian dude, your facade may be strong, but your operation is WEAK AS BALLS.

P.S. They stole my shiny valve stem cap, and never put it back on. I'm getting that shit back.

I was checking the oil and tire pressure on my ride on Sunday and I noticed that the pressure on one of my tires is zero!  I'm thinking "Oh crap" so I shine a flashlight inside the the wheel well and sure enough there's some kind of screw or bolt sticking out of the tread.

Since I bought my tires here I call them and they say just bring it in.  I limp over to the gas station, squirt some air in and drive over to the Firestone.

I'm thinking it's in the middle of lunch, they're probably busy... it'll take awhile... nope.  These guys aren't like super friendly but they don't waste time either.  Guy says 30 minutes, they take the keys, do the paperwork and bam, 35 min I'm rolling out of there.  They did a straight plug-n-patch.

Best part is since I bought my tires there I didn't have to pay anything for the repair!

They have TV there too to kill time.

The manager blew me off as soon as I walked in.  Did I take the bad sign?  No.  Instead, I left my father's ailing van here for an $800 repair: wheel alignment, power steering, and other stuff I don't know the names for.    Three days later, I drive down the freeway and someone flags me down to tell me that my back wheel is loose.

Why didn't they bother to check the BACK wheels when they aligned the FRONT wheels with the steering?  They charged me $80 extra dollars for this.  AND, $80 more dollars to replace the back wheel.

"Why can't I bring my own $40 tire from Costco?" my father asked over the phone.

"We only use OUR wheels," said the manager.

Firestone is a chain, and the employees couldn't care less whether you leave happy or unhappy.  Go to a small-time mechanic, who banks on his reputation and honesty to make a living.

Do NOT go to this place. I cannot stress this any more then I already have. Let me explain - while the employees are friendly enough, this is a veneer for them to have you drop your guard and take advantage by sheer duplicity.

I took my car here for a regular oil change and they tried to tell me that my oil was leaking and had gotten into the wires and into the spark plugs. Total cost of the job was $1400! I took this to a mechanic friend of mine for a second opinion and surprise surprise, no oil leaks whatsoever! When he looked at the diagnosis he said they were double charging me for their work.

Just stay away - not worth your time and aggravation. Hey Firestone - was it really worth it losing a customer for LIFE by trying to pull a fast one?

I hadn't read the reviews before going to this Firestone tire and maybe that is a good thing, as I ended up going and had a great experience.

My front right tire had been flattening out rather quickly after being pumped with air, so we took it around to several places.  The man at the front desk (Sonny) immediately found a nail on the tire and said they could do a patch job for $30.  Great!

My boyfriend and I went in and got more than what we were expecting (they said our tires were feathering from wear and that we should rotate them and also told us that our tires looked out of alignment).  But even though we spent more than we were expecting, we also got a lot of maintenance stuff done to our car.

Sonny was friendly and courteous.  He was also sweet to a little baby that was in the shop - who can harden their hearts against someone that plays so nicely with a tiny baby?

Also, when it turned out that they hadn't rotated our tires after aligning them, they were very quick to bring it back in the shop and do it.

I thought their service was pretty good and everyone seemed really friendly.  Perhaps this will change once my car has as many miles as reviewer F.M.  I can re-review once I go in a second time but I just thought I'd write a positive review for a positive experience.

Took my car here on Sunday for oil change and break service. They had my breaks inspected and a repair estimate done within an hour. Once I authorized the work, they had my car ready within two hours. Fast and easy, no hassles.

They did the breaks, alignment and balance. The break job is perfect and the alignment/balance is also perfect, just like new. Cost significantly less than the dealer would have charged for the same service, and they got it done on a Sunday.

I got an oil change here not too long ago and loved the great service!

They changed my oil, let me know some issues I had to get fixed on the car and I drove off.  I didn't experience any of the "pressure" selling that a lot of automotive places sell you which I liked very much!  They even wrote a smiley face on my oil change sticker...  :)

Will definitely be coming back here!

Please don't waste your time.  Unless you want expensive tires.  I went here first since I thought they could patch my tire, they took 1 hour to tell me it was unpatchable.  Then I eventually drove 10 minutes south on El Camino to Pep Boys but by the time I was through all that it was 2 PM and they had a 3 hour wait.  But Pep Boys wanted to charge me only 1/2 the price for an equivalent tire.  God I hate wasted days.

    Lazy, unprofessional, sloppy.

I purchased a regular oil change.  The manager said it would take 30 min.  When I presented a coupon from their website, his attitude changed.  1.5 hours later, my car had not moved from where I parked it, and they did not seem too busy.  After calling to "check in," my oil change was finally completed a total of 2 hours later.

The worst part was they got grease all over the driver side carpet of my spotless car.  I noticed this when I got home and called the manager, who apologized and offered to clean the rug; I declined.  I don't want to deal with those guys ever again and don't trust them with my car.

I've been a 7 year veteran of this establishment, mostly because of great experience with firestone in new jersey.

Recently had an issue with my car where turning on the heater to max would still blow cold air, and the car was overheating. Took it in for a diagnostic, left it overnight and they called me back next afternoon saying they had just completed the diagnostic and my car needed a new radiator (350$), new hoses (150$), new thermostat (100$) and new belts (100$). I asked why, he said your radiator is cracked.

    I said "cracked ! "

he said...well not really cracked...i would say "clogged". I said cant you pressure clean it if its just clogged, he said no its like there is goo coming out of your radiator instead of water. Since i didnt really understand much, i just left it at that and hung up saying id call back.

Since my car is high mileage, 150000+ miles i figured id just donate it to charity instead of getting it fixed. Called back and told them to not do anything, and that id pick it up the next day.

Got there the next day, the guy xxxxxx (really want to put his name here, but dont remember it right, will confirm name and replace xxxxx with real name)  tried to hardsell saying hey thats a nice car , its an infiniti , why do you want to donate it , just fix it. I tried to explain i lived in the city and didnt use the car much and wanted to try out zipcar and stop paying for parking. He tried to convince me to get it fixed none the less, and he said i could wait to get the hoses fixed later and knocked that off the list around 100 bucks or so.

Anyway i refused and asked him if it was safe to drive the car back home, he said,"try your luck". Cant guarantee it. I said fair enough, and left. Sure enough the car overheating almost half way through about 2 miles from the shop, i drove super slow, got to friends house and parked it not sure whether i should even drive it to a charity place.

About an hour later, i decided that might as well take a look at all the broken parts of my car so i can detail it during donation.

Took a look, nothing seemed wrong but then again im no auto mechanic. Un-capped the coolant tank, empty, weird, he didnt mention it seemed like an obvious reason to have your car overheat. Well its not actually since coolant is just an additive to make the freezing and boiling point of the water in the radiator lower and higher respectively than regular water which is 0 degrees and 100 degrees so that water doesnt freeze in your radiator on a cold day.

Next up, tried to see water level in my radiator, couldnt tell, so just filled up a empty gallon milk canister with water and started filling the radiator, managed to nearly put in the whole thing before the radiator overflowed.

walked over to a nearby store, bought some coolant, filled up the coolant tank ($15)

Highly incredulous of my own ability, i decided to take the car out for a spin, 10 miles later on 101 the temp guage didnt budge over the correct reading. Put the heater on high, and beautiful hot air in my face.

Read up on google, the heater is basically a second radiator (smaller ofcourse). The engine heats up, it heats the water and the hot water than runs into the heater coil over which your fan blows and thats the hot air that comes out.

    Summary:
My car was simply out of water / coolant.

Since there wasnt enough water/coolant, car was overheating and since no hot water was flowing into the heater coil. the heater coil was cold, hence fan blowing air over this coil was doing nothing and blowing out cold air.

Given my new found understanding of the car cooling system, howstuffworks and a little bit of googling.
    http://auto.howstuffwo...

If i had read this article earlier, i would have diagonosed the problem based simply on the symptoms without even touching the car.

Scamming me out of nearly 1000$ of hard earned money for a 14.99$ fix (coolant) and free water seem a bit much ?

Also got another mechanic to look at the car since ive lost complete faith in these assholes, ive been given a clean bill of health.

In their so called "courtesy check" during my 25$ or more oil changes, mentioning that my fluids are running low would indeed seem like a courtesy. Intend to scan and post their repair estimate shortly, just need to figure out how to black out some of the personal sections.

Also while sending me back home in a possibly unsafe overheating car, it would have been nice to mention i was out of coolant and water considering i came in with a car mentioning that the car was overheating. May i remind you i got an oil change and the "courtesy check". Also considering goo was coming out of my radiator..very tough without any fluid for anything but air to come out, anyway im done here. will post up the real name and scans of the bill.

STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !

if you have any questions send me a priv IM. "RIP OFF CENTRAL" as 1 poster put it is accurate !

I have sort of low standards for the accuracy of automotive repair places. That being said I like this place. Not all firestones, just this one. I bought the lifetime alignment and they have never given me any trouble even though they don't collect money from me every visit. My car is modified and I request special alignment settings and have not gotten any grief despite the fact that this takes extra work and I know it can be a pain to do what I ask. If you give special settings do check the numbers because I ask for toe IN and get toe OUT. Which to the average person may not matter, but it matters to me and suggests a low attention to detail. Guys working there are car guys too which can help. They also didn't mind when I asked that 150 pds be left in the passenger seat to simulate a passenger's affect on alignment.

wow... some of these reviews are really low...
i think my generations gets more complainy every year...

i have always been treated fairly and with respect at this place...
they have never tried to charge me for something i don't need or want...

They have never made any mistakes on my car or tires...

They are almost always done WAY before i expected them to be, which is great when you don't have the convenience of somebody picking you up and dropping you off...  I wonder if they do that?

anyway... i highly recommend them, they are also my husband's mechanic for our other car...

STAY AWAY!! Called ahead to ask if they would fix my tire and when I went there to have my tire fixed they tried to pressure me into buying a whole set of tires. Also, to get a tire fixed they charge $32. I drove over to America's Tires on El Camino and Grant and they fixed my tire for FREE with no pressure to buy tires! That's the way to go! Thanks but no thanks, Firestone! We went there because previously with our other car, we took in for a diag due to noise in the front end, brakes though newish didn't seem to perform great; they found nothing  and didn't charge. I like to give that a return visit. But later another problem developed, I tried Mechanica shop further up San Antonio Rd based on great reviews and Ed there found the problem in the brakes instantly, and I had them redone there, they'd been assembled without a critical spring installed thus the jangling noise and poor stopping - this is Corvette and he's since done more and done it well.
America's Tire for tires, Mechanica for mechanical, and the Valero on Moffet N of downtown Mt View for a great $4.99 drive through car wash!

Quoted me some exorbitant price that was double the price at Costco or Big O tires....I didn't even bother saying No Thank You...I just would never recommend a place like this to anyone.

I got a coupon for a $25 oil change from Firestone, but some car places
will do that just to get you in and then say "Oh it won't work on your car."

Not so here.  I got a good, quick oil change for exactly the price the coupon said, and everyone was very nice.
They even gave me a number to take a phone survey, and if I took it, I could get $10 off my next Firestone purchase.

I took the survey and used my $10 off at the Berkeley Firestone location (some 50 miles away) a week later, and they accepted it just fine.  Everyone at both places was very nice.

I am taking my car to Firestone from now on.

I got a flat tire a couple of weeks ago and I went here simply because it was close to my apartment.. Despite the place having only one other guy waiting, it took over an hour to patch my tire. When they were finished the guy told me it would be $22, which shocked me. America's Tire Co. (on El Camino) does flat repairs for free, and while I wasn't expecting them to do it for free, most place charge $15 or less; I didn't ask the price before giving the go ahead to fix the tire because I didn't know how outrageous the price was.

There are so many options in mountain view to have your car repaired and this is the last place anyone should do it.

I bought a Battery from them 2 years ago. A 7 Year warranty Interstate Battery.
It went Bad. I had to pay $24.99 for an "Electrical System Check".

Then they said I need a new alternator for $600.
Then, IF THAT DID NOT WORK, THEN they would replace the battery.

I went to small mom and pop shop, and got them to replace the battery. Everything is working well. No Alternator problems obviously.

I'd never go this place again!

I've been here a few times before for simple things like oil change and tire rotation because its near my house. I've even done a brake and tire replacement job once.

This time, I had a problem with my Saturn - it was making a screeching noise sometimes, so I took it here. These guys are GREAT salesman - they always talk sweet, so courtsey is not the problem here.

He diagnoses the car, and tells me that the serpentine belt is very old, hence the noise, and it'll need replacement. On top of that, he tries to sell me 2 tires. (I remember even last time he tried to sell me tires) He gave me a report saying that the threading on the rear tires is very low, so I need to replace them blah-blah. It'll cost 1000$. The mechanics don't understand anything other than tires I guess.

I took the car to an original Saturn Dealer for second opinion. He told me that the belt is great, the tires are great - its the idler pulley under the belt which is the problem, and the springs in the brake shoe are also loose. Also the car vibrates because of the motor mount.

I actually even went to a third mechanic for another opinion, and he confirmed that the belt was great, and so was the tire-threading.

I'm angry that they are so incompetent that they could not figure out even a single problem correctly, and were going to charge me 1000$+ for stuff which was not a problem. Besides they try to sell me tires everytime.

    Lessons learnt
    - Never go to firestone (or even Midas - I had a similar experience there once)
    - Take opinions of at least 2-3 people before deciding what to do.

Bought two tires with 55000 mile rating. Came back 19000 miles later to have a slow leak fixed in one of them. I was told I needed two new tires...  (my other two older, non-Firestone, tires were still fine). Even after supposed 50% rebate for short tire life it was going to cost me $60 more than the previous new tire price. No thanks.

I cannot say one thing good about this place, other than the fact that the showroom floor is spit-shined. Don't let that suck you in. If only the service and expertise was 1/1000th as good.

    Yikes!. Where do I start?

I took my car into this "Complete Auto Care" shop in early JUNE to get the air conditioning fixed. It was actually working, but not fully cold, so I thought it was just a routine coolant recharge. When I got the estimate, they told me it was "a couple of bad gaskets," and it would be $760.

I picked the car up, and it worked, paid the bill (with a shiny new Firestone credit card I let them talk me into to get a %15 discount). Kevin, the counter guy, told me I'd "be able to see my breath," but that didn't work for me.... it was actually hardly any colder than when I took it in. After two weeks, it didn't workt at all - so obviously the gaskets weren't the full problem, even though most of the $760 was labor to take my car apart.

By now, we were into July. Back in.... they said, oops, it's now the evaporator and a hose.... need another $1,700. I said no way, got an assessment from another mechanic, who said it shouldn't be nearly that much... and I decided to press them for warranty coverage. They reluctantly agreed, but dragged their feet for weeks... they refused to use Firestone's regular parts, but used some third party parts, so, it was not surprisijng that when I picked it up, it worked, barely, but this time with condensation pouring into the passenger compartment. I looked under the dash.... and the repair guy had DUCK-TAPED the part that was supposed to seal the system.  At this point, I raised heck, and they at this point agreed to let me take it to a real mechanic at the dealer, and that they would handle the bill. The dealer fixed it in two days- works perfectly. I took the bill in - and they said no problem, I'd get a chck in a few days. Well, it's a month later, and I'm still waiting. "They haven't heard from Corporate" is the standard response I get. Small claims court looks like my next stop.

My suggestion: Don't even THINK about this place. I've never in my 60 years experienced such shoddy treatment or had to put up with such shoddy "repairs." I should have known from Firestone tires exploding a few years back that their auto repair service would be of the same quality. And oh yeah.... don't even think about getting one of the credit cards - . It's run by some wierd outfit that makes it darn near impossible to cancel, and with an inpenetrable "customer service" with seemingly no possibility of talking with a  live human being - even one in Bangalore.
Avoid like the plague.... anywhere on earth has got to be better!  I'll let you know if I ever get my refund.

I usually have a difficult time trusting mechanics...esp. when you go in for an oil change and they call you with a list of things that need to be done to your car with a ridiculous estimate.  I experienced this last November.  I just said, "Not at this time. Thank you".  But with a great coupon for $18.95 synthetic blend oil change (and since I was way past due) I couldn't pass it up.  When I came in yesterday, I was greeted by a chipper guy who's name was Chip .   I asked for the oil change and requested a tire rotation. Then he proceeded to ask if I considered balancing/aligning my tires, etc.  The first thing I thought was, "oh, here we go with the sales".  But he went on to explain that balancing/alignment included rotating my tires anyway and that it should be done every so often.  I hadn't done it for 2 years.  He then said it was usually $42.99 (something like that) but there was a deal for $39. Heck! Why not since I was willing to pay $20 for the rotation anyway.  I waited in the lobby and before the "due time" he called my name.  No hassles...no "you need this and that" bs.  I was very pleased.  It turns out that he's the new manager and the last guy "retired".  Things might be looking up.  But I'm not sure when he took on the position since there are pretty bad reviews written last month...hmmm.  But this time, for me, good stuff.  I might even consider going back without a coupon since I had such good service from Chip.

I was recently surprised by this place. I have to take my car here because my company has a maintenance contract with Firestone. Since the car is relatively new, I've only gotten oil and filter changes. I bring my car in early and it's always done in less than an hour. My company specified an alignment with my most recent service. It seemed unnecessary to align a what seemed to be a perfectly good car but it's not my car, so who am I to argue. I get the car back and now the wheel points to the left when I am going forward. "They screwed up a perfectly good factory alignment", I said to myself. I called them back to tell them what was happening and to my surprise Kevin said, "please, bring it back and we will take a look at it" I was expecting to hear that "all roads are crowned and, of course, you need to have your wheel to left in order to go straight ahead" but no, he said "we'll be glad to take a look at it". I brought it in the next day. No arguments, they said they would have it fixed in a about 30 minutes and sure enough they did. Now the car tracks just like it did when it left the factory in Brampton.

It doesn't get better than this. I bought a lifetime of alignments and have been going to Firestone in Mountain View, California (San Antonio Road) every few months. Two days after I was in recently, I noticed the center cap of one of my wheels was missing. I had no way to know if the Firestone crew had left it off or if it went missing somewhere else. I brought the car back to them and showed them it was gone, and in the nicest, most professional way, I was told they would replace it at no cost to me. And that's just what they did within about 3 days. It was excellent service. I'm always treated well there and will always be a customer.

I love this repair shop! I always bring my cars to them. They get the best price on tires, and always have my car done faster than I expect. Chip, the manager is always so friendly and efficient. That is hard to find now days. They always have my car in and out the same day, more than I can say for shops I used to go to. All in all Firestone is my only choice for all my auto repair needs.

Had the 12.99 oil change coupon for New year 2010. Brought my car over..they seemed nice enough, I called a twice and even started writing my order in before I got there. I get there and Chris said I couldn't use my own oil since they warranty their work. I thought okay fine use your synthetic blend since i just reached 200k and had been using synthetic. So i'm over next door for lunch at the Dittmer's. I see them inspecting my car all around and i did see the oil drain pan nearby. Well i found out the tech - LUIS inspected but didn't change my oil nor the oil filter (i had purolator ONE).Look for their white firestone filter before you leave the shop. I already was back at work by time i looked. Luckily it was a slow day for them.  I drove my car back and they had their expert Troung fix it. He knew what happened. Chris and Luis didn't seem to care. This time they put my valvoline 5w-30 full synethic in there. Heck I even drove my car off the lift myself. 2nd star cause I knew Troung has to work with these guys. Luckily I dont think they touched any hoses. They gave my car a clean bill of health other than tires.
