Fun times at the Firehouse this past Friday evening taking in a Bit Players Improv show! The Bit Players is a great evening activity, reasonably priced at $18 per ticket, BYOB and bring your own food, too. We got a box of Crab Rangoons from Ching Tao down the street, and sat in the first row nibbling away.
The show is a fast paced 80 minute romp with no intermission. The troupe takes suggestions from the audience for the skits, and hilarity ensues. If you are celebrating a special occasion, they may even call you up from the audience for a personalized skit of your own! The Bit Players excel particularly in their song-prov sketches, I have been coming to these shows for years and the ability to make up verses on the fly never fails to impress. JT and Danny stole the show the night we went with their Shakespearean sketch about Chuck E Cheese.. still laughing over some of the great lines!
I would recommend this night out to folks ages 14+, as the humor skews to a PG-13-ish range. That being said, if you're looking for a fun and different activity, the Bit Players is worth a visit!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Joseph B.Jamestown, RI184Feb 25, 2023
karaoke, improv and acapella groups. Three things that can be fun or go REALLY bad, REALLY fast. The Bit Players improv was super fun. They were all likable and quick witted. They kept the audience engaged and laughing throughout the show. Upon pre show request they call up members of audience and build an improv around them. its kind spirited and funny rather than laughs at the persons expense. far better than i expected.

Highly recommend this affordable and enjoyable hour+ of entertainment. Contrary to previously held belief that Improv would heighten my anxiety, I thoroughly enjoyed every second. I was literally on the edge of my seat. No two shows are alike. The building is incredible and needs to be seen. I can't wait to go back and bring friends.

I was in town for one night and it was Story Telling night. I feel blessed to have been invited. It was a cold evening but warm in the theatre and standing room only. I was lucky enough to pay to get in and get a seat. I make it to Newport occasionally and because of this evening I hope to make sure it is the first Thursday of the month next time I visit. Story-telling is fantastic as is the MC who had us all in stitches and interested in whatever was going to happen next. 4 stories and 3 superb stories and one was good. That is a great ratio. Just the right length to keep our attention and still learn something about each presenter. I was fascinated with the guy who got back with his old girlfriend and found out she had his child 11 years previous right after they broke up. And the one with the abusive boyfriend was riveting. Loved it all and like I stated earlier, I will somehow make it back here. Great affordable entertainment.

Came here to see The Bit Players for a bachelorette party and it was the best choice. These guys are seriously funny and the whole experience was fantastic! Really loved it and can't wait to come back and see them again. If you're in Newport and like to laugh you need to see this show.

The Bit Players did a fantastic performance. It's BYOB, so you can enjoy your favorite drink while they entertain you. Liz was an amazing host for the evening and next time we are in town we will be sure to stop by for another show!

Fun time! Relaxed, welcoming and funny players! This was a off the cuff find and we are glad we found it. Whether new to improve or a regular, a must see.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Found this place back in Spring 2011 when-then my fiancé and I moved in Newport. We ate at Newport Tokyo House and wondered into this building, had no idea what it was, bought tickets and we were hooked. Came back many times until we moved out of Newport. Never thought we'd be back in Newport again but once we moved into our home we went straight back to watch the Bit Players. We'll be returning until we leave again this Summer

10/10 would recommend!! Best $18 I've ever spent. My husband and I saw The Bit Players Saturday night. We bought the tickets on a whim that morning and I am SO GLAD we did. It's improv like Who's Line Is It Anyway and they get the crowd involved. We were laughing the whole time! It was someone's birthday and they brought him up on stage and sang to him. GREAT idea for a birthday or Bachelorette party!! GET THERE EARLY! I got there right around 8:00 and we almost didn't have seats to sit in! It's a small place and seating is first come first serve. Doors open at 7:30, get there then!

This was my 3rd time here. This place is great inexpensive night. $18 per ticket and BYOB.
The performers are hilarious. Its pretty much like the show Who's Line Is It Anyways, but better.
I believe Saturday nights are packed, so you may want to purchase Tix ahead of time.
Will definitely be back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
