FIREHOUSE ROCKS!!!  This is the only decent bar in San Jose where the bartenders and crowd are awesome, the drinks are stiff, and you'll for sure have a good time!!

The food here is SO delicious -- I recommend the 4 Alarm Burger which is SUPER SPICY, but SO tasty!   The Buffalo Chicken Wrap is also excellent as well - I opted for no ranch dressing in mine, and it still had enough flavor!  French fries are a must have here too!

The bartenders definitely know how to pour good drinks here to make sure you have a memorable time ... or not so memorable depending on how much you have to drink! ;)  They also put on a great show, with all their flame blowing and setting drinks on fire!

Thank you Chris for always giving us such great service whenever we come here, and thank you Shannon for pouring some awesome "juicy drinks" for Ryan!!! :D

I was in San Jose for a business trip and turned to trusty http://yelp.com (I love this site) to point me in the right direction.  Sure enough, based on the area where I was staying, the Firehouse Grill was not too far away.

Everything was great!

I have been to a lot of "bar and grills" in my day and this one stands out....ever so slightly.  Everything about it screamed, "Pub Food!" before I walked in, but standard pub food was not to be had at this local establishment.  I ordered some steak appetizer and a Caesar salad as my entree.

This is the reason for the 4 stars:  This Caesar salad was made the real and correct way....if you watch the food network (Alton Brown) or enjoy cooking...you know there is a different between the standard Caesar and a REAL Caesar....nuff said.

Oh yea...the drinks were cheap and the prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food.  Give it a shot, you will NOT be disappointed.....and YES, I would return given the opportunity.

I'm a man who likes his bars and Firehouse is most certainly my favorite bar. In fact I even made this yelp account so I could write them a review.

The staff all has to pass strict "being awesome" tests and no matter how bad of a mood I'm in, without fail they can make me smile with their cheery demeanor. No other bar I've ever been to has had staff that attempt to turn the bar into a party every night.

The staff and the crowd feed off each other in a great way. I've been there on nights where they had a cocktail waitress get up on the bar and empty out a whole handle of JD for free into anyone's mouth that wanted some, the owner opened up the jukebox to be free and managed a "who can cheer louder" contest between the front of the bar and the back of the bar (sadly my side lost).

This bar is also my favorite place to go and watch Sharks games if I don't have a ticket myself, since the bar has 5 HD TV's and a huge projection screen in the back all tuned to the best of bay area sports.

All in all this bar reminds me of that poster you'd find in college dorms that lists an excuse to party every day of the year, since it decorates for every major drinking holiday and always finds something to cheer for no matter the day.

All I remember is coming here early too starting drinking before dinner started across the street.  From our server and the place inside, it seemed pretty cool and laid back.  I think this place must be pretty crazy at night, with it being within the vicinity of some other pretty busy restaurants and bars.

The back of the place had a large projector to watch sports games, and the menu offered some bar type foods that I regularly would not want to eat.  Other than that, it seems like a good atmosphere to get drunk in later in the night.  Should really come back here late night for drinks.

I went to the Fire House bar and Grill last Saturday and  I enjoyed the place. I  read about them so me and my friend  went to check them out.
The service was good  and fast. food was good and the beer  was better.
This  place has more of a sports bar feel to it , but if you want a more dinner setting the upstairs is a better choice. Check them out and judge for yourself. Overall I like the place and  will definitely go back again.

Great find...stumbled in before a Friday Sharks game and surprised to find they honored Happy Hour.  Many of the places on San Pedro cancel HH on game days.

Outdoor and inside (in the back) seating was packed, but we squeezed in @ the bar.  Bartender was super friendly, despite getting yelled @ constantly by the waitress.  Unfortunately, she did it right in my ear, otherwise this place would have been 5-stars.

$3 beers and a range of delish burgers.  Perfect warm up for the game and across the street from the Market St. public garage ($3 parking for the entire evening).

The funnest bar in Downtown San Jose! With classic rock songs playing on the digital jukebox like Sublime's "Santeria," Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," and Journey's "Don't Stop Believing;" how can you NOT have a good time!

The crowd sings-a-along in the tight bar area of the Firehouse. They might as well call the bar "Fire Hazard." This place will definitely warms you up through the collective body heat surrounding you. So if you're claustrophobic, beware of the Firehouse!

The breaking of bottles behind the bar simply causes the whole crowd to erupt in joy. Girls dance on the bar top serving up Jameson Whiskey from the bottle to those who simply tilt the head back saying "aaaaa!" The bar rarely silences once a bartender rings the bell to forewarn the flare bar tending of flaming drinks and multi-shot pours.

They used to light their flaming drinks through the fire breathing mouth of the bartender, but now they have downplayed to a torch canister. If you come here, make sure you watch the bartenders serve up Flaming Dr. Peppers and Stop Lights, it's quite show!

Delicious! It's been awhile since I've been here, so I forgot what I ordered, but I do remember that it was mighty tasty! I would come back here again for the food.

OH YEAH! I remember that their wings were spicy as heck though. They were really good but way too spicy to enjoy it to its fullest. :/ but other stuff is very good!

MY REVIEW IS ONLY ABOUT THE FOOD:

I ordered the 4 alarm burger and sweet potato fries.  The burger was good but I was a little underwhelmed by the lack of toppings.  Just another pretty good (and fairly spicy) burger.

The sweet potato fries were good as can be expected from sweet potato fries.

I also had a chance to try my wife's California wrap and onion rings.  I must say the California wrap was very good and would give it one star higher than the burger.  The onion rings were also good; thick and flavored well.  I would rate the onion rings as a toss up with the sweet potato fries.  Both good.

The staff was very nice and friendly.  I'm sure this place is great for the bar experience.  It's also good for eating but I wouldn't go too far out of my way for the food.

The Bartenders here are awesome, it was crazy busy but they were still very attentive and I hardly had to wait at all to put my order in and to receive it.  Since we were here we decided to try the flaming Dr. Pepper, it was an interesting flavor profile.

When I was paying attention, the music was a great mix, a very broad range that pretty much anyone can enjoy.

The bartenders were also helpful with picking out a few appetizers.  We settled on shrimp and fries, both of which were actually spicy.  It's fried shrimp, kinda hard to go wrong there.

Also, there is a great mix of people.  I feel, sorry to the servers that have to navigate around the drunks and down that narrow area to get to the tables.

I have been to Firehouse now a couple of times. Each time I have had a great experience - they have great service and a completely calm yet fun environment.

My favorite thing about this place is THEIR BURGERS! Definitely the best I have had in a loooong time - I love their regular burger with cheese and my boyfriend loves the 4 alarm. Come on over and check it out!

My fiance and I happened to stumble here after a Yelp event where our stomachs were not satisfied. It was weird that they had to ID us before we went inside the pub/joint. I guess it was the busyness of a Friday night, but it took a while before we got a menu. Overall, the staff was very friendly and accomodating (I think they were probably all students from State).

Steak Burger: I was a bit skeptical about ordering steak at a pub, but it did not disappoint. Imagine a hoagie sandwich, except with steak in it... not bad ($13.99). It came with an order of fries. Honestly, the fries looked normal, but for some reason, it tasted really good to me. Imagine McD's fries, but even better!

Santa Barbara Burger: This is a 1/2 lb Angus beef burger with thousand island, jack cheese and a kick of chipotle or something on sourdough bread. I enjoyed this one as well - the bread got a bit soggy in the middle, but I guess it's due to the dressing ($8.99). Mine came with a side of salad, and it's not the cheapy salad made of just lettuce and tomatoes, it had the works: olives, onions, cherry tomatoes, artichokes, American cheese... delish!

Chicken wings (Spicy BBQ) - I immediately tasted a hint of beer in the wings (which the fiance loved), the spice wasn't too spicy for my weakling taste. It was just right and the flavor was perfecto! ($7.99)

Tower of rings - we expected something like Chili's awesome blossom but was disappointed when it was just a bunch of onion rings thrown together. They sprinkled strands of parmesan on the rings and it came out sizzling hot! This was probably the only mediocre order we had. ($7.99)

If you're in the area and  looking for a chill place to eat, this isn't bad. Of course, we don't frequent downtown SJ much either, so we have no idea what other restaurants are like. But when we walked out at 10 after our late dinner, it seemed like the crowds were just starting to gather here.

It seemed like it could be a fun place...if only our waitress wasn't so flaky. We sat outside to enjoy a street musician and she came and ordered our drinks...which we got half an hour later. I thought it might have been because it was busy inside, but when i went in to use the restroom there were hardly any diners, only bar patrons. We also ordered appetizers, which showed up a good while later and were cold. We wanted to order actual food, but were afraid it would take forever to show up and we would be late for our event. Everyone else seemed to be having a good time, and I'd be willing to give it another chance...but I will definitely be getting my drinks at the bar.

This is a laid back place; I definitely like to drink here. I like the people and the bartenders...so my last trip here was a little early. I was meeting friends downtown and wanted to get a head start on drinking so I came in and ordered a few martinis...yes a few... Anyways, the bartender (forgot name XD) was awesome, he was nice but not overly so, slightly conversational and cool. I threw back my well made and strong drinks and paid the tab, several "regulars" were in here and I can totally see myself becoming a "regular" one of them even mimicked my drink order *win*. Oh and another thing the bartender was outside smoking when I left but ran inside to get my validation tickets since I hadn't even thought to ask for them...WIN!!!

Definitely check this place out. Cool people, cool bartenders, good drinks, and good prices.

So we were thinking of where to eat before the Sharks playoff game B and we stumbled across this loud, fan-infested place.  It was funny to see wilted fruit at the bar, which could've been replaced with some nuts or pretzels.  We ordered the turkey club wrap and burger.  I prefer the wrap on my next visit.  The burger was just okay for me.

The bartender was accommodating and enlightened us with different Guinness blends...and the middle finger foam stamp!

...that was for the Ducks!

I went here on a Tuesday night... not ANY Tuesday night, it also happened to be my birthday. Soooo a couple of us went to the bars to throw back some cold ones (we're tough...haha) and it was a lot of fun. The bartender did his flaming shots and we were all ooing and ahhhing. They were really nice and made all the difficult drinks we asked for.

Seems like there were a lot of locals hanging out at their watering hole. Cute, very Moe's Tavern-esque.

Not a bad way to throw back some drinks on a Tuesday.

Thanks Mr. Bartender for making it a special night.

Its funny that  I come here all the time but forget to review this place.  I also see different people everytime I come here.

The bartendars make good drinks and the waitress Shannon is awesome!  She totally listened when my sister told her not to give me any more vodka!

I like the outdoor patio area where I can "quit" smoking and have a good conversation without the noise of the bar.  Inside is cool to, but on a nice summer day its nice to have a place to sit and people watch.

Pretty good hang out place to enjoy a pint or two with some friends.  No friends, no problem...the patrons are pretty friendly and will strike up a conversation anyway.  It's not uncommon to find out of town guests; this night we met a Boston Red Sox fan who happened to be going to the Sharks game.

Standard pub fare;  burgers and wraps, and salads...ok, salads is not pub fare, but this is California.  Stick to the wraps and fries, as the burger was so-so.  I'd place this on the pub crawl rotation.

Went there last night (a Saturday) with some friends for dinner and drinks. We were told at the door that the food would be spicy. Maybe we didn't order the right food but we were disappointed as nothing was remotely flavored with chili pepper. That said, the fries were awesome and there's one solid vegan option (veggie wrap). For vegetarians, some salad options were available ... just watch out for the bacon bits. Good amount of indoor seating and nice outside patio area for cigs, people watching and conversation spying.

The bartenders were very sweet and, best of all, they made drinks strong. Grey Goose on the Rocks was like nothing I ever seen. Let's just say, the ice floated above the vodka like the current state of melting arctic ice ... My liver was probably crying but my brain was happy. Understandably, the crowd were in alcoholic harmony. Laid back atmosphere, clean restroom, mixed groups of people and large TV screens for conversation breaks. Far superior than the usual San Jose bar scene.

This place gets way too freaking loud. My friends and I stopped in for a bite to eat before Dane Cook at the HP Pavilion this past Sunday and man... it was REALLY loud and there were only like 10 people at the bar. We sat in the back at a table and still could barely hear each other across the table. Now this really wouldn't bother me too much, and neither would the fact that the girl serving us was really cute and actually a really decent server... but it took over a half hour for our three sandwiches to come out... c'mon that's just absurd. Now, my Turkey Bacon Club was pretty good, but I had to wait so long I needed to devour it and leave, I didn't get a chance to savor it.

If you want to get really effed up, I guess you should come here. It's definitely a fun time at the bar. But if you're looking for a quick bite to eat, or a place to chill, there are many, many other better options.

This is the perfect place to bring your dog and have a beer. They're extremely friendly, and very accommodating one of the guys that works here brought out a to-go box full of water for my pup. You'll have to sit outside, but with the weather as nice as it is during the summer months, it's where you'd sit anyway :)

I asked for a Blue Moon, my personal fave beer - but the knowledgeable bartender suggested something else that turned out to be even better. The mini cheeseburgers (go for the bacon - you can share it with your dog!) were perfect, and I suspect the rest of the food is just as great, based on all the folks that started showing up around 5.

I'll be back!

Since everyone here has already done a great job describing the joint.. let me give you the quick how-to guide....

Food - YES!
Man Drinks - YES!
Girly Drinks - MAYBE!!!!!
GIRLY SHOTS - YES!!!

Food:
Go there for lunch or even dinner, and make sure you ask for the specials... The food is cheap to reasonably priced, with the exception of the specials... they can be pricy but well worth it.... There is nothing like fixing your hangover the next day from the same place that caused it... With such masterful food as their ridiculous BBQ Platter, to their Farmers Market Salads.  They even have specials with things like ailoli (fancy european mayonnaise), and garnish on the plate...

Now as for what they do best... Alcohol!

Make sure you get to know the staff and introduce yourself... Regulars are highly appreciated and known to buy each other shots and drinks for no apparent reasons... DON'T be creepy and weird to your neighbors, but social... this is the casual dive bar.

Drinks... ask for a jame-o coke... delicious...

They are heavy on the pour which is the best thing a bar can ever do, so never complain about a heavy pour, just make sure you like what you are ordering... Malibu/Pineapple? Forget it.  If you are a girl, and want something girly.... ask.  They have great suggestions, and even better drinks...

If you are bored... order some absinthe, some shots, and a sampler... and if that doesn't get the night started... go home.

and lastly: MUSIC:
the music is awesome all the time, and the only thing that changes is the volume and amount of people signing along and dancing on the bar...
as for what they play think fraternity kegger or alumni tailgate
great music from the 80's and 90's and don't be afraid to sing along

Chris, Amanda, Shannon, and everyone else working there whose names i can't remeber... Keep it rocking!

Since I have recently turned 21, I have discovered two things:

1.) I prefer bars over clubs
2.) I LOVE THIS BAR!!!

This bar has the perfect environment and awesome bartenders. When I went here for the first time, I ordered their famous flaming Dr. Peppers and found myself drunkenly singing to the songs played on the jukebox. I don't know what it is, but bartenders breaking glass and lighting highly flammable alcohol is definitely a crowd pleaser here.

In short, if you wanna have a good time, go to this bar order a couple flaming Dr. Peppers, and let everything take its course =].

"I said I'm drunker than a mother *****r, higher than a kite
Lost my mind and my cell phone in the same night"
-wise words you got there young jeezy

That's how your night could turn out if u spend too much time here.
So I guess it's about time i write a review about places I actually love going to.  I've been coming here with my friends whenever I'm back in town visiting them.  It has definitely become our regular fall back home away from home type bar for the greater downtown San Jose area.

Our typical night:
Friend: Can we we get 8 jager bombs
Waitress: Are you sure? There's only 3 of you.
Friend: Oh, remember us? We ordered the 12 goose shots from you last time.
Waitress: Oh yeah.  8 shots coming right up.

I dig the laidback atmosphere this place gives off.  You can predrink here before going to the clubs or just settle down and spend the entire night there.

The burgers here are not bad.  On the higher end for burgers, but at least they are somewhat interesting.  Not much more to say here.  Service was slow on the day we came on account of some waiters not showing up to work, but the manager was nice and tried his best.  I wouldn't mind coming back for lunch.

I've absolutely fallen in love with this place. The staff is friendly and cool. They'll do shots with the crowd, throw glasses down to get people to cheer, etc. I went here first for dinner with my uncle before a Sharks game - their burgers are excellent and service is quick.

I then came back with coworkers for a going-away party and had a total blast. Beer was cold, service was good (one of the bartenders can speak some Hindi - my Indian coworkers were totally impressed), music was solid. I also enjoy the crowd - people seem more laid back than some places; it has a far lower occurence of the "THUG LYFEEE" and the pretty pretty club princess crowd that I've seen in other establishments.

Overall, it's a place that you can come, get some cold ones, not have to worry about being "dressed to impress" and just have a good time.

My dance group came here last night and ANY place and waitress that can deal with 18 ladies is A-Okay in my book.  Shannon was our waitress and we had another guy (the bald one, crap I forgot his name) serving us drinks, and they were awesome!  The only complaint I heard from the girls was that the food was a little cold when they got it, but other than that the food was pretty good--I got the santa barbara burger but with the portabello mushroom instead of meat (go vegs!) and it was really good.  The place is loud which was perfect, because we're pretty freakin loud (each drink brought us up 5 decibels haha).  The guy brought us a round of shots for the graduating girls in my group and besides for them being pretty girly and good, they were on the house, it doesn't get any better than that!

I'll definitely be back = )

I absolutely love love love this place. It's the only place in downtown SJ I'll go to get some drinks. The staff is attentive and super friendly, the crowd is usually really chill and friendly. They play good music and everyone cheers at the sound of a broken glass. If you're lucky they'll even let you dance on the bar *ahem*pour some sugar on meeee*.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to go out in downtown SJ.

My friends and I were occupying half of the bar for a going away drinking session. I went to get 10 shots of crown and waited and waited and waited about...hm.....at least 25 minutes while the bartender was watching the game on tv and told me that he'll be with me in just "a second"

After 40 minutes of waiting, my 10 shot of crown were made ready, I'm sure it took a lot of effort and specific mixing strategy.

A little later, we order 3 plates of chicken strips. Hm....for some reason we followed up with the bartender several times and we never got out food. Oh wait, the bartender did mention that they ran out of chicken strips 2-1/2 hours later when we were closing the tap

1.5 stars but hey, 2 is ok with me

My current profile picture with the half eaten cheese burger was taken at Firehouse No. 1. I came here for my boyfriends surprise birthday party. This place was so awesome to accommodate me and our large group of friends. We even brought our own cake, which they didn't mind at all! My boyfriend arrived after 10pm and we were still able to order food from their late night food menu, which was the burger and fries. Unfortunately, their late night menu is very limited, but the burger was awesome.

We loved the food here! Another great thing was that they had Stella on tap! Kudos for that!

The folks at Firehouse were very accommodating and friendly. It was like hanging out a buddy's house for drinks. I would definitely recommend coming here for a laid-back evening out with friends. Another great thing was that the music selection from their jukebox was awesome. They had some great Rock Band tunes that my friends and I sang along to at the top of our lungs. It was great fun! I would definitely come here again.

I've been going to this place for years, through its various incarnations- Shark and Rose, Goodfellas, Martini Bros.

The Shark and Rose will always be a sentimental place from my "youth," but I think the Firehouse is the best yet.

The bartenders are all great! They play fun music and are always entertaining. The downside is that it is a very narrow bar and can get crowded easily.

ALSO they have a great menu. Good burgers. I love the chopped salad. And the chicken fingers are awesome.

After a long night of waiting, drinking, and eating at a local spot....Fro, Aja and I came here and met up with Mikey. And soon there after commenced the after party for the birthday party went down at none other than...

FIREHOUSE.

Whoa to all the sights and sounds that were to be had...

the taste of alcohol on my tongue...
the waft of perfume on my nostril...
the drunken conversation with a stranger....
the next porno puzzle picture thingy on my mind....
nothing like experiencing some level of debauchery with friends, family and strangers alike.

after yay many drinks I wasn't sure whether what I was hearing was  the sound of my brain cells dying or the glass breaking.
whatever....

next round was on mikey!!!

ATTENTION!!!
and so shall it be so again....
this coming 24th!!!

Had only one Saturday night to party in San Jose and I praise my  friend for recommending this place.  The bartenders breath fire...do I need to say more?

This bar is everything that I love, loud people, good music, quality drinks, ladies, and bartenders that love to put on a show.

Small place, so don't be rollin deep, but a great place to just sit back and hang out with some good people.

Thank you Firehouse for showing me that San Jose does not suck as bad as I thought.

Just came here for drinks, so I don't know what other things are offered (maybe food?), but I had a good time. The place gets loud, it's a fun atmosphere, and people seem to know each other. It's a little tight especially during the busy hours, but if you're up for a little cop-a-feel, this is the place for you. I personally like to hear the person that I'm talking to at a bar, so I probably won't be back here unless I am forced to.

Do they have cute lookin' girls and guys? Check.
Do they have cute lookin' bartenders? Check.
Do they mix great drinks? Check.
Very attentive service and quick on their toes? Check.
PLUS...they have those touchscreen games!!

The joyous crowd and the drinks all covered into one great night....UBER-Awesome! Thanks to Kuya Mike, Aja, Mikey and a few of Aja's friends....I had a fun evening. Even without the people I rolled with...I would definitely come back to this place. Overall, a good place to sit down, have a couple of drinks, good laughs, and relax. Did I say they don't mind if any glasses break and it's all in good fun? Enjoy it and scream out loud, "YEAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

So, we came here Friday night as part of the UYE happy hour crawl. Didn't really like the feel the place. We were told there was a dance floor, but there wasn't one. They did have the enthusiastic cheers when someone dropped a glass.  ** Important Note: It was so hot inside like a sauna.

They have a patio seating area out front with heating lamps. If I were to come back, I'd definitely sit outside. Not sure I would come back because I don't want to feel like I'm suffocating at the bar trying to get a drink.

1 star for the environment/atmophere.
