We went here as a result of the good Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. The location is in a strip mall but once you get inside, you tend to forget where you are. Great place for date night.
Service was attentive and friendly. We had the Bruschetta and Mista salads which were very tasty. The salad is very similar to most other restaurants that carry a baby greens salad with walnuts and vinaigrette. Bruschetta was special because it had different toppings like mushrooms and artichokes.
The entrees were also good, I had the Fettucine Gamberi which is pasta, shrimp, and mussels. The mussels did tend to give it more of a down by the docks smell; I know that sounds unappealing, but it was worthy. My wife had a vegetarian pasta dish, which she liked ok, but it was a little peppery.
All in all a good place and I'm sure we'll be back. Price is really about the same as an olive garden.
When I saw this place I didn't know what to expect. I can now say this is a gem within this small shopping center. The staff is friendly, nice casual setting, full bar and reasonable prices.
Before I came here I had to check out the site to see what they had on the menu. When we arrived, the menu was slightly different, but not in a bad way. We order the bruschetta, Gamberi Fiore and Fettuccine Gamberi. We also ordered the bellini.
The wild mushroom bruschetta was by far my favorite out of the 3 different types that were offered, with the artichoke coming in second and the toy box tomatoes coming in third.
When I received the Gamberi Fiore which is prawns in a white wine sauce with lots of yummy wild mushrooms and an assortment of veggies and potatoes. I abosolutely enjoyed my dish and while I thought at the beginning it wasn't enough, by the end I was full.
The fettuccine in Fettuccine Gamberi was cooked just right and the prawns tasted better than mine. I would come back here again so that I could try some of the desserts as well. Eating prawns went hand in hand with the movie we went to see later that night. District 9. And the nice thing about this place is it's less than a 5 minute drive from my place.
Good quality ingredients, reasonable prices, and outstanding service.
Friendly, casual, and intimate all rolled into one.
Started with the Mista salad of mixed greens, finely ground walnuts and mild goat (?) cheese lightly coated with a slightly sweet vinaigrette. My dinner date had the Caesar salad with plenty of anchovies, parmesan cheese and homemade croutons. All good, but could have used a little salt to perk up the flavor.
Also ordered the bruschetta sampler of six pieces: two with artichoke hearts and onion, two topped with roughly chopped tomatoes, and two topped with broiled mushrooms. All were flavorful on nicely toasted bread, but the tomato needed more salt.
The mains were the pillows of gnocci with a rich gorgonzola sauce. Nicely cooked, and very rich. The sole picatta was served with nice assorted vegetables (potato, carrot, and green beans). The fish was tasty, but a little stronger than you might expect from sole (not spoiled, but not caught that day.)
Minor gripe: The Chef does have a heavy hand with his chopped parsley garnish-it looked like the lawnmower over-sprayed onto our plates. Didn't affect the flavors, but I know Gordon Ramsey would have had a fit...
Too full for dessert, but checking out our neighbors they all looked pretty interesting.
Outstanding and attentive service from the hostess, to the busboy and especially from our waiter, Vinnie. Nice sit-down Italian restaurant out in the Valley without having to drive to downtown or Walnut Creek. We'll be back with the rest of the gang.
So in the past 6 months i've been to this lovely little (as in the size of the restaurant...not taste or portions) about 20 or more times...I guess you could say that is the ultimate review for the Chef...I have noticed so many repeat visitors at this place because they get IT...Great Food, Good Atmosphere, and Fantastic food.
My favorite Item is no longer on the menu, and I was told to just phone ahead and they will go purchase the ingredients for the dish and have it ready for me when i arrive.
That's what i call ABOVE & BEYOND the call of duty.
What a great staff, even the bus-boy knows me by name...I feel like "NORM at CHEERS" when i walk in...

Beautiful restaurant in a strip mall. Like walking into Italy.
Vegetarian items are marked as such. Love that.
Relax and give yourself time - this isn't fast food at all.
Service was excellent and the food was Awesome!
We ordered:
Barbabietola - Roasted red and gold beets with walnuts - Excellent
Spinach Salad with pears - Excellent
Spaghetti al Pomodoro - Total Yum
gnocchi with Pesto sauce (we asked for olive oil pesto rather than creamy) Excellent
I really enjoyed the food at this place. Similar to Luna in Concord (I think it is a brother or relative who owns Fiore) - great Italian food. The only downside is the location. It is in a weird spot, next to Payless Shoe Store and Mccaulou's in Concord - so small that you'd almost miss it. Once inside, the place is very narrow (the bar takes up about 1/4 of the seating). Probably a good idea to make a reservation! The food is fantastic. Can't go wrong with their pasta and salads. They have a good wine selection. Our server was friendly.
I have been to this resturant twice and really like it.
The first time I went with a friend for lunch. Had the asparagus appitizer and the Lamb Sandwich. Asparagus amazing and the sandwich was really pretty good.
Went again this afternoon with my husband, infant daughter and my grandmother. We were the only party there. Needless to say, the service was attentive. We all enjoyed our dishes. I think that my grandmothers creme brulee was a bit runny.
Other than than, really like the place. There are few options for foodies in Concord.
I decided to check the other establishments reviewed by these unsatisfied folks. One person who gave Fiore one star said that Benihana is good. Enough said.
It's been a long time since my last review, but in the past six to nine months, this restaurant really sticks out in my memory. The three of us went here over Valentine's Day weekend and had an amazing time. Sometimes restaurants have promising appetizers but then everything else that follows falls short. Fiore had wonderful appetizers (the bruschetta is amazing!), entrees, and desserts. We were all pretty blown away. It's in an outdoor strip mall, but who knew we'd be so pleased?
NOT SURE WHEN OR WHERE i'VE HAD BETTER iTALIAN FOOD!!
I went alone, they do happen to have a small short Counter, & I sat there....They did offer me a Table, if i preferred one. I odered Seafood Rissotto....Deliciosos!...This tiny little Restaurant is terrific...(IMHO)...They are NEVER 'pushy'...& have always been very Courteous, yet not overly so...
This was my 2nd Visit...& I HIGHLY recommend it!!
My favorite Italian restaurant in Concord! Great food - great service!
This is always the first place I suggest if someone asks me for a great place to eat. We need more of these great small Restaurants here in Concord!
The least desirable tables are the ones way in the back by the bathrooms (covered by a heavy curtain). The smell is NOT desirable when the door is opened and closed! Since the place is a little cramped anyway why not just remove those two tables, it would make it a tiny bit roomier....
I've been looking forward to Fiore for some time now. We finally got there last Friday night. I was immediately taken with the lovely dining room. Exactly the kind of place you want to come out of the cold to. We ended up on the patio but it was a warm night so it was pleasant.
Now the important part - the food. Honestly, I think the food only deserves 2 stars but I can tell the owner has his heart in the right place and I really want to see this place succeed (which it seems to be doing) so I gave it three overall. Granted, I'm comparing it to the best Italian food I know (Delfina, Incanto and Pizzaiolo for example) but my tastebuds simply won't accept the excuse that we should lower our expectations because we're a in a strip mall in Concord. However unattainable, you should always strive for the highest quality. I know with some time and effort they could make this a truly amazing restaurant.
We ordered an appetizer of meatballs to start. Who can argue with meatballs right? They were satisfying but in need of improvement. For one thing, it came with two sauces. Why is that a problem? The beauty of Italian food is in its simplicity. More than any other food culture, they understand the beauty of less is more. One sauce, a dark red tomato concoction that the meatballs appeared to have been cooked in, was fine but nothing spectacular. The other was salmon-colored (probably tomato based with cream) and used to dress the plate. It added nothing to the overall dish and made the overall flavors muddy and indistinct. Do one sauce and make it great, not two sauces that are both so-so.
I followed with a Caesar salad which I consider to be a benchmark for nearly any restaurant. Again, it was perfectly edible but not a stand out in any way. I appreciated that the croutons were house-made but again, it suffered from overcomplication of tomatoes and olives. And the dressing was a little heavy on the acid notes. The owner should take a trip to Zuni Cafe in SF and try the best of the best. There's no reason he couldn't get close.
For my main course I had the mushroom ravioli in a madeira sauce. This dish needs major help. The filling was so pasty it coated your tongue and felt disgusting in your mouth. If they hadn't said, I would have had absolutely no idea what it was. And the sauce was very heavy on the madeira to the point where that's really all you could taste.
My boyfriend had the spinach/ricotta ravioli but strangely, it came in a cream based sauce. I can't say that it was horrible but dairy on top of dairy does nothing to enhance either one.
Service was good overall. The food runner tried to deliver the food to the wrong table with every single course (and happened to the other outdoor tables as well) but it always ended up in the right spot so no worries. And the timing was also good. No huge time spans between courses or hurrying to finish a salad as the main course arrived.
Overall, this place suffers from overcomplication and muddy flavors. I deifnitely plan to return but I hope the owner will spend more time studying and eating really exquisite Italian food and apply those lessons to his own restaurant. Just because we're in Concord is no excuse not to reach for the stars!
I've only been here once (well, they only recently opened), and wow, all I can say is...YUMMY! The owner is the nephew of the owner of Luna Restaurant in downtown Concord, which is the source of another five star rating from me.
During our first visit, everything was excellent. Three of us shared a delicious ceasar salad (which definitely had anchovies, so be careful if this is something you like to avoid), and the portion size was enough for three of us to easily share.
Our three main courses were the sole, linguine with mussels and clams, and the pasta with basil, garlic and tomato sauce. All three entrees were delicious! The service was friendly, gracious, and unpretentious. The owner/chef also came out to say "hi", and to see if we enjoyed our meal, which is always a nice touch.
The desserts definitely resemble the menu selection at Luna, and like Luna, their wine choices by the glass are limited. They seem to have a good selection of reasonably priced wines by the bottle, though, which is nice.
Yes, the location is odd, but we were there on a Sunday night, and the place was packed. I think this area of Concord is really ready for some nicer dining, so I hope this restaurant does well. I think the food critic's reviews have been very good, so hopefully this 25 year old chef will have a great success story at Fiore.
So we walk into this restaurant at 7:00 on a Tuesday and there's a wait! I think it was half because it's a pretty small place and half because the food was really, really good.
Everyone else has already mentioned the connection to Luna, the good service and the fact that the owner comes by and makes sure you've enjoyed your meal, so I'll just say that the risotto is fantastic and we will definitely be back!
I had dinner here today and it was pretty good. The bread was good, but it could have been a little warmer. I got the soup of the day: spinach and aspargus soup. It was a little runny, but very good. For my main entree, I ordered spagehtti with tomatoe sauce, basil, and garlic. This was very good. It came with a lot of sauce, which I liked and I could see garlic in the sauce. This was probably the best spaghetti with tomatoe sauce I've had at a restaurant.
Update: I went here last week for dinner on a wednesday night. It wasn't that crowded in the restaurant and it was hot that night. When I told the waitress it was just me dining, she insisted I sit at the bar. I told her that I would like to site at a table. She kept on insisting that I sit at the bar. I told her no thank you and left. She didn't try to stop me, which kind of suprised me. Not only did they lose a customer that night. They lost one for life. I will never come to this restaurant again. They treated me very poorly. I went up the street to a thai restaurant and they treated me very nice.
I just went here for lunch, and based on this one meal, I have to say that was the best sandwich I've had in a long long time. Simply delicious. I wish I could give it 4 and 1/2 stars. Don't want to just give away a bunch of 5 stars, but was seriously thinking about it.
So what did I order? I got the lamb sandwich.
It was simply irresistible. I just could not get over how delicious and rich in flavor it was. This place may or may not be good for any other Italian dish, I have no idea. BUT as far as sandwiches go... this place is awesome.
Did I mention the salad that came on the side was great too? loved the artichoke they put in it too, that's rare to see.
so what I recommend... The lamb sandwich. Hands down delicious.
This restaurant was opened by one of the chefs from Luna Ristorante in downtown Concord. So if you enjoyed Luna, you will also enjoy Fiore. A couple of their waiters have also moved from Luna to Fiore. The food was excellent! We had the Penne Pesto which has sun dried tomato, chicken, spinach, and their pesto sauce was delicious! I practically licked my plate. Also the lobster ravioli which our daughter really enjoyed. Their dessert menu seemed to look very simliar to Luna's. We had the Torta de Frutta.. very light and refreshing!
My only concern for them is their location. Its tucked away in the shopping center where you cant see them off of the major street (Clayton Rd) Hopefully word of mouth and sites like these will help them and continue getting increased business.
6/24/08 - Had to pay Fiore a visit once more! Everything was excellent. Their waiters are top notch. Looking forward to going again in the near future!
This place has great potential. The setting is nice and the service is good. Unfortunately, our dishes were too salty. My Insalata Mista was very good, but my main course of Sole Piccata left me thirsty for the rest of the day. It would have been wonderful with less salt. My husband's asparagus soup and Moroccan Chicken were also too salty. I would like to try this place again, and am hopeful that the salty food was a fluke. I really want to give this restaurant 4 stars.
My husband and I have been to Fiore's several times for dinner, and I have been there with friends, for lunch, on several occasions. We love the decor, the warmth that you feel when you walk in, along with the warm welcome.
While the restaurant is considered Italian, it also has some wonderful Morrocan dishes, which are a special treat. The Morrocan chicken is excellent ...very moist, and the Morrocan beef dish, served in a traditional Morrocan tureen, is comfort food at its best.
My favorite lunch dish is the grilled vegetable sandwich, with fresh mozzarella cheese, that comes with a tasty salad. I have had several of the salads and they are all very fresh with homemade dressings.
It's nice to have a restaurant of this caliber so close to Clayton.
Absolutely excellent! Great food, great service at a fraction of the price you would expect! Will definitely return next chance I get.
Who would guess in the middle of a strip mall there would be such a gem?
Had the best rack of lamb ever. The service was excellent, the dacor very inviting. Wait staff great. The cream of potato leek soup not like I make thank GOD. MMM so very good. Will return again ASAP and I will bring a bunch of friends too. Thank you to all for the lovely evening.
The best service and great food. The chef is wonderful. Try any of the seafood dishes !! We have been going here since they opened and we love it. Great people!
Most people seem to note the odd location of the restaurant, I figure this is due to the low costs they charge for the dishes they serve. Anywhere else the rent would be so high they would have to charge a lot more, I feel like the food here is worth 3x at a comparable restaurant in San Francisco. I found this place to be very European style dining, casual and leisurely. Myself and two friends went on a Wednesday night and had two bottles of wine, 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, and two deserts. It took a total of about two and a half hours. The waitress was new and had just finished her training. She was such a sweet heart and so kind to us we were happy to help her learn the business. I highly recommend this place, it is nice to go to a different part of town and have a relaxed long dinner.
When we found out Fiore is run by some of the same people who are at Luna's, we were excited because we love Luna's, but Fiore's is so much closer to our house. We are repeat customers at both locations and the food is always delicious. We often get pasta and steak. Also, if you love chocolate, order the chocolate molten cake for dessert. Yum!
When we bring our kids, we order the lasagna....they LOVE it. We usually order one and the kids split it. Plenty for both. The kids love coloring on the 'tablecloth'.
We tried Fiore's for brunch one day and it was likewise delicious. I had the eggs benedict.
Good food at a decent price. Fiore is a small restaurant so be sure to make a reservation. Small, nice, and quiet... I enjoyed my dinner there.
I've been looking forward to eating here since I saw the review in the Chronicle... but never had the chance until yesterday. My husband and I took my brother here for his birthday. There was a party of 10 in the middle of the restaurant and not an empty table for us so we decided to wait for one. The waiter had told us about 10-15 minutes. The first table to empty was one outside, and since the weather was gorgeous last night we decided to just eat out there. The table wasn't the cleanest, they didn't change the tablecloth, and there was bread crumbs left on the table, not too much but enough for me to have to sweep it off myself... also, I could see the water ring from the last person's cup. As soon as Payless Shoe Store, which is close by, had closed and turned off its lights... the outside on the right hand side of the restaurant was extremely dark. I kept looking up or around because I thought they had turned off a light but I guess it was just lit up by that one store. The left hand side had a light fixture so it wasn't bad on that side... but the side we were seated at was DARK. They need to put candles on the table or put a light fixture on that side because... we ate in the dark. I couldn't even see the color of my food or what I was eating, that's how dark it was. Besides it being dark, being seated outside also means waiting longer because you are checked on only so often. After being seated and handed menus, we waited over 10 minutes before someone came to bring us bread and we insisted that he take our order before he walked back in because who knew when he'd come back and we were starving. Sitting outside did bring back a lot of memories because this was the old Mocha Lisa (I think it was here... either here or the place right next door) when I was in high school, and I used to sit out there with friends and drink coffee and talk until they closed.
We ordered the Langaustino for appetizer, which is like a crabcake but with rock shrimp... it was pretty salty... even if you eat it with the refreshing fruit and vegetables that were very fresh... it was still salty. I had the Penne Pesto... and it was just okay... like I mentioned before I couldn't really see my food in the dark but I could see the cream and oil separating in the dark... I don't know if thats normal but it didn't seem too appetizing to me. As a big fan of Luna, I expected Fiore to be just as good if not better due to the reviews that I've read but I thought it was just okay.
I've eaten here half a dozen times, and it has never failed to satisfy. They seem to be doing a good business, so I hope this place will become a neighborhood "fixture."
Yes, the location near KMart is a bit weird, but the decor is pleasant and the food is good!
The owner has a large family who is spamming these boards w ads.
The food was OK, the atmosphere, better than Nation's Burger a few blocks away. But covering white table cloths w butcher's paper doesn't really give the same effect as a white table cloth. Are they afraid of laundering a couple of tablecloths?
My fettucine contained a foreign substance - we are still waiting for results from the CDC in Atlanta.
Paint over sloppy wallboard compound doesn't make for a romantic atmosphere, nor even a meditteranean feel.
Maybe the reviewer considers the hooker sitting at the end of the bar romantic. The waiters all seemed to know her.
PASS on this place. You will have a better experience at one of the numerous chains that Concord is filled with.
The review by Jaimison about summed up my thoughts on the food... "it was perfectly edible but not a stand out in any way."
The food was about on par with what I would expect at Coco's, Applebee's or some other chain - just fine, but nothing special. I will note that dinner could have been had at the aforementioned locations for about 1/2 - 2/3 the price.
The decor was quite nice and the prices were reasonable for what looked like an upscale restaurant. The staff was friendly but not overly attentive (we had to ask repeatedly for more water, bread or anything else we might want before they would bring it... when we ran out again, repeat). The food seemed to take an eternity to come to our table (in fact it only took a little over an hour after we gave them our order).
If my wife and I had gone in alone and were looking for a quiet candle lit dinner for two, I imagine my experience would have been much more positive. As it was, we were there with our children and my mother in law, and did not expect to wait so long.
I think the final straw came as I was trying to catch our waiter's eye to get our check. I sat watching him talk to another member of the staff... with his finger knuckle deep in his ear. I noted that he did not wash his hands between clearing the obstruction from his ear and bringing out plates of food for the table next to us.
I will not be returning.
Great service for lunch, and great menu. I have to say that the menu offerings are intriguing. I will definately be back. Not your typical Italian, which I love also. I like that they don't give you a huge amount of food like most places. It is nice to have some places on this side of town, but I really do wish it was not in a strip mall.
My husband and I discovered Fiore's Restaurant shortly after it opened and absolutely LOVE the food and service (and the fact that it's only about 2 blocks from our home). We are great fans of Luna Restaurant in downtown Concord, so we were pleasantly surprised the first time we tried Fiore's that the owner recognized us -- he used to work at Luna's. We discovered that the chef is also from Luna. Fiori's has quickly become our favorite Italian restaurant. Every dish we have tried has been exquisite, and for us, the location is perfect!
This place opened up recently between K-Mart and Lucky on Clayton Rd. My wife and I had dinner there. Both of our dishes (pumpkin ravioli and moroccan chicken) were excellent. The food was very flavorful and fresh. The service was quite good as well. There is a place to eat outside in the front which is nice on a cool summer evening. One of the things I really like about this place is that it's still reasonably priced, even with very high-end food. We'll go back soon.
I've been to Fiore several times now since the first week it opened and I have been delighted each time. The idea of the location is a little off putting - a shopping center, near KMART?? But it's tucked away and quiet even when dining on the patio area out front. The inside is lovely and warmly inviting (you can tell that it was strongly influenced by Luna in downtown Concord who both the chef and waitstaff are related too). The food is wonderful - well prepared and reasonably priced (this is part of why I give this a 5 star rating - it's not that this is "French Laundry" - but wonderful flavors and great attention to detail - especially at this price point!) and the service very friendly and attentive.
Great little neighborhood restauarant in a part of the county known for the presence of chains. This is a place I will be visiting often!
A solid four stars, maybe even a fraction over. I first read about this place in a newspaper review, maybe the Contra Costa Times. Of course I then checked Yelp and the reviews were encouraging, so we met our friends David and Diane for dinner tonight. It's in the south end of a strip mall that houses a K-Mart at the other end. Once you go inside, though, the dark wood and attractive decor take away the strip mall impression. Diane was auditioning Chardonnays. None passed so she stuck w/ water, as did Alan and David. I had a glass of Ironwood Zinfandel. Warm bread and butter were brought immediately, but it took a couple of requests to get refills. The place filled up nicely as we ate dinner. Alan and I split a spinach salad, as did David and Diane. It was a generous and tasty salad, each portion having an olive, half a cherry tomato, part of an Asian apple pear thinly sliced and fanned out, some mild onions, gorgonzola, dried cranberries and lots of spinach. The dressing was a tasty honey-mustard and there w/ something w/ crunch sprinkled on top, although I don't know what it was. Diane and I independently decided on the roasted chicken Moroccan style, then the seafood pasta that was brought to a diner behind us caught Alan's and then Diane's eye. Turns out the kitchen is extremely flexible and accommodating. The dish had started out as a risotto but the man wanted it w/ spaghetti. Alan and Diane ordered the same thing. David ordered a prawn dish that came w/ spaghetti but substituted penne. I stuck w/ the chicken, which was a perfectly roasted half chicken w/ a crispy wingtip and a moist breast. It was roasted w/ a preserved lemon, olives and an array of vegetables, squash and crisp potatoes. It was luscious and the tastes I had of Diane's and Alan's dish were terrific too. Prices for entrees were reasonable, well under $20. The owner/chef stopped by our table to check on how we liked our meal, which was nice. This place was a find. David and Diane live out that way, so they'll probably return sooner than we will, but we'll be back.
I too was a bit put off by the location, not the classiest spot in town, but after reading it had a connection to Luna (one of my absolute favorite places around) I had to give it a try.
I have been here twice now. Both times were really, really good! The first time I had the sole, yummy, and my hubby had the lobster ravioli, equally good. We also had the tomato bruschetta, very good, served with what I am guessing was some kind of balsamic vinegar reduction, out of this world!
Second time went with a friend and had the salmon. Very well cooked, the sauce was delicious. My friend had the pork, which was really good too.
Both times I had the cappuccino mousse cake for dessert, and obviously, it is fantastic!
The waiters are friendly and personable.
I will definitely be back, so much more on the menu to try!
My husband & I went to Fiore's for Valentines Day. They had a fixed menu, two different prices. They offered seating at 5:00, 6:30 & 8:00, all were already reserved! We had the Fiore salad, filet mignon over rice with truffle oil & a black & white dessert shaped like a heart. I received a long stem red rose as we left. The waiters all had black shirts with red tie, looking very festive. It was a very enjoyable evening & the food was fantastice as ususal. This restaurant is my all time favorite!
