6 reviews for Fino's Italian Grocery
One of my favorite lunch spots since they opened years ago, Fino's has a great Midtown location at McLean and Madison, on the ground floor of the Gilmore.
I can honestly say I have never been even slightly dissatisfied with anything I have eaten there. The calling card items are the wonderful Italian Subs (My favorites are the New York Club anyd the South Philly). Joanne and crew use only the finest of Italian meats and cheeses and pile them high on crunchy French style rolls (from LaBaguette, i think). Unless you are really hungry, half a sub will do. There are at least 2 hot Italian dishes and soups offered each day on the board. Desserts are incredible. Don't ever pass up the pear cake if it is being offered. Service is fast, courteous, and friendly.
And Fino's IS a grocery - get hard to find delicacies, olive oil, and deli items as well as frozen items.
This a cute little cozy kind of hole in the wall place. They have really good sandwiches. They also have pasta salads, pasta, dessert, and a few things to sell as not very typical grocery items. I belive they are only open during lunch hours, and that is the only time u really wanna eat here anyway. It is not amazing, but good.
Just adding to what others have said, this is a great place to go for quality Italian deli sandwiches. The bread they use on the sandwiches, the dressings, the meat, the cheese, all seem to be of high quality. I ordered a "panini", which contained coppa - a cured delicious meat (capicola), olive oil, tomato, and cheese, which was very good. If you don't like chewy-crusted bread, order the "soft bread".
Parking was easy - the grocery is a storefront in an apartment complex with parking for customers.
I was interested to see what items they sold in their freezer case. It is the only grocery I've seen in town that sells frozen gnocchi. They also had frozen pizzas that are apparently made on site. I got a mushroom pizza and took it home. I enjoyed the crust, toppings, and the cheese, although I wished the pizza had more sauce. On the small pizza, they used squares instead of shredded cheese, but it all melted nicely.
The staff was efficient and helpful.
It's nice to have a high quality Italian deli available in Memphis.
Honestly one of the worst Italian markets I've ever been to. Service is not to good People are nice but be prepared to wait for your order. Some of my deli meats were stale. Very very limited selection I'm not sure how they consider themselves a market. And by the way the bread I heard was so good. Is actually SAMs club bread. They told me they buy it there.
Looking for a great sandwich for lunch? this place was super yum and totally hit the spot during a trip in Memphis. This small hole in the wall is more italian grocery store than deli, but, it is worth stopping in! The place was packed with a busy lunch crowd in a very small space, so you know you are probably in for something good from the get go. Their homemade bread really makes the sandwich. I'm dreaming about another sandwich from this small italian deli/restaurant/store!
This Italian delicatessen also known as "Fino's from the Hill" serves excellent subs. I ordered a roast beef sub thinking I was going to get what I know as a "sub" and was pleasantly surprised when I got a massive open face sandwich. Two large crusty slices of French bread covered with provolone cheese and topped with juicy roast beef. Come with a big appetite or be ready to take some home. In addition to excellent subs, there is a small grocery store with a variety of Italian products. Definitely one of the best sandwiches I've eaten in a long time, I plan on returning soon to try some of their other subs.
