the location of this place is amazing, it is nestles right on the river  and you can sit on a deck overlooking the river.  I got a chicken sandwich and fries which were amazing. the chicken tasted like it was grilled on a bar-b-q and fries were nice and crispy. the service was friendly and i love the gift shop and i am usually one who hates those kinds of things. overall it was lovely.

Location location location!  Well that works best in real estate though restaurants can sometimes try to pull that off if they have a dynamite spot.  That's not good enough for me however. I need good food to go with it!

We sat down at one of the 5 tables out on their rustic and shady deck that has big trees surrounding you and the McKenzie river rushing by. We are talking white rapids here. Just gorgeous, and what ambience in a natural setting. Why folks that own this place could get away with anything!  Not so fast.

Ordered a glass of white wine of course to go with the view. We then ordered an appetizer of onion rings, salmon burger and fish and chips.  We were relaxing on our fabulous vacation and it was lovely so far.

Then the onion ring, I mean onion rings (all about 8 of them) showed up.  They were nothing to write about.  Small portions stand out. The fish and chips, from hunger. I asked my husband if the fish was guppy because I've never seen halibut that small before. The fries were homemade and sliced thick, tasty.  My salmon burger was not so bad but the original reason I could not get onion rings instead of fries was because the salmon burger was on special so no substitutions..  Huh? What are you in a big city where you can behave like this? Big cities do not by the way.

    Can you say tourist trap?

I wish I could fix some of the things I see in places. All they would have to do here is just give bigger portions and stop messing with folks coming for a weekend. The days of folks going on vacation and spending money just does not exist as much anymore. Give us a break!!!

Finn Rock Grill has a great location right on the McKenzie river.  It's a great place to stop in for a beer.  The place is done up in country cute, and I absolutely hate country cute.  Lucky for me they have a nice shady deck overlooking the river, so we escaped the "Petticoat Junction" dinning room and made for the deck.

The food is very average bar food, but the portions were tiny.  Farmers, I mean real country farmers, want a big plate piled high with homemade food.  The meals served at Finn Rock Grill are strictly for the tourist trade.

So, great location, great deck, hideous interior, average food, tiny portions - this is where the review gets a little weird.  As we're leaving through the hideous dinning room, I noticed a pair or framed Everlast boxing shorts on the wall.  They were silver, with black trim.  As I approached the little shrine I saw that they were an autographed pair belonging to Muhammad Ali.  If I owned Finn Rock, I'd keep the deck, and Ali's trunks, but rethink everything else.

This place is in the middle of nowhere.  It's in a city that gets packed during the rafting season.  This restaruant is located next to a river and has a lodge decor.  Mom and pop shop.  Meals are mostly burgers but the beer selection rocked as well as homemade sweets.  I had a pie.  Excelente.
