You know, I'm going to have to agree with Jay with pretty much everything he says. This facility is great and Chip is awesome!! 3 months of waiting and I finally got in for the start of something beautiful. All I had to do was give Chip some ideas of what I wanted and made the magic happen. He took his time drawing on my arm what he thought would look good, and then took me over to Lucky to get his opinion. The whole session, we were talking, shooting the sh#$.
Like Jay says, everyone in the shop makes you feel welcomed from Michael (who greeted me 3 months ago) to Denise (who was there this time when I went). I like the professionalism this place brings. I had several questions and emailed them on facebook, and their manager Chantal took the time to reply quickly everytime. If you are definitely looking to get work done by a great facility, GO HERE! I'm sure all their artists are great, but I was referred to Chip Douglas, and I know him and I will be spending alot of sessions together getting my work done. -

I cannot begin to express the satisfaction and exuberance I have for this shop and the TALENTED artists that make their magic on the pasty white canvas of Orange Counties choosiest residents. After a debacle at another shop, I strolled into FTW just looking for some info, still wondering if I had to look like I belonged in a tattoo shop to get some straight dirt or what. For every question there was an answer, an INTELLIGENT and laid back answer, and I felt comfortable right away. I was directed to Chip Douglas and upon opening his book, knew that his designs were on the money for what I wanted. We talked about the elements of my tattoo, things I liked, things I didn't, and when I returned for my first appt. the piece that Chip designed was nothing short of amazing. Over the course of 6-7 appts. Chip and I talked, laughed, chilled, and lamented about so many different subjects. EVERYONE at this shop made me feel at home and part of the group. I watched several pieces done over the course of my 12 hours in Chips chair, and from the top dog, Lucky Bastard, to the bottom, every piece was beautiful. I won't go to anyone but Chip from now on, but I also wouldn't hesitate to enlist the artistry of any of the ink pushers here at FTW.
The only drawback to having work done at FTW is you'll never be left alone on the street as people constantly approach you to tell you what a sick tattoo you have. -

I was looking around for an artist to do an arm piece on me, of Pocahontas while doing the "Colors of the wind" scene in charcoal. I wasn't too happy about my main tattoo artists' work starting to go down in quality the more he tattooed, and I was going out to California for a visit, so I said why not.
I called the studio, and the apprentice Buzzy picked up the phone and told me that since I'm in Colorado, I should email the design to them. After an email address mixup, Chantal (the shop manager it seems) emailed me and we got a general price and a date set up for me to come in, which was October 8, at 7 PM with Steve Goodspeed.
I ended up showing up at 6:30 PM (thought traffic would be horrible, but it wasn't too bad) and Steve had my stencil and picture ready to go, which impressed me. Around 7, after resizing and talking about placement, we started.
I was very surprised. Steve had a light hand, and the tattoo was the least painful one I have gotten to date. (And I'm sitting at 11 tattoos now!) Steve was very talkative and nice as he worked, which let me relax and get to talk. During the process, he used a lot of vaseline looking stuff, which my normal artist never did. Maybe that's why it was so much better feeling than my other tattoos.
After we were all done, he warned me about the impending hot towel coming my way; I guess if a hot towel is put over a tattoo, it opens up the pores and lets all the gunk and ink and stuff to come out. It hurt for all about 2 seconds and then we were all done.
$225 for my tattoo was an amazing price for the work done; my artist here in Colorado wanted over $100 more than what Steve charged me.
I will definitely be returning for more work. A great tattoo artist and the beach. What more could a girl ask for? -

Chip Douglas from Mr. Lucky's Fina Tattoo Work is an extremely talented artist and an overall great guy. His work and attitude speaks for themselves. Anyone out there looking to get something tattoo'd best start looking there. Remember people, this stuff is forever, don't go anywhere else but to see Chip!!!

I love this shop. I have been going there for a few years.
No attitude here (can't stand shops that give you the "your not cool enough" vibe)
All the artists are top notch.
Chip is the best in my opinion! Nothing but compliments wherever I go on my work he has done for me.
This shop is super professional yet relaxed at the same time.
Clean and organized. No lurkers is always a bonus in my book as well.
Fair prices as well too!
if you want top notch work head on over! -

This shop is BOMB! You will be impressed with the quality of work here--This is a very professional, clean shop, with extremely talented and knowledgeable artists. You'll be impressed with everyone you meet here. Just completed my upper-left arm work from Mr. Lucky B-- He is a dedicated artist with an unsurpassed body of work-- check out his work and you'll be as amazed as I was/am-- I get nothing but complements & you will too. I'm saving up now for the right arm! Btw, the new shop is beautiful! ~KJ

Let me preface this review by saying... I don't have any tattoos... BUT I went here with someone else for their first tattoo and they took good care of her and were very nice to all her guests. IF this is your first time and you're planning on bringing a whole entourage of people with you, note, only ONE person is allowed to be behind the "counter" watching at a time. But if you want to chill on the couch and wait, feel free. They have a ton of books with drawings and their work for you to look through, or you can bring in a photo of their own and they'll make it work!
They give you directions for after care, overall very nice and just want everyone to feel comfortable and have a good experience. They didn't pressure my friend, they want their work to be perfect! They take credit cards but Bring Cash! They take appointments and because it takes a while... make one.
Another important factor, I watched everyone clean every single piece of equipment, and everything that they touch was wiped and covered clean.Listed in: Need something to do?

Went in last Tuesday to get a consultation about my tattoo. I ended up speaking with Colby Chesterfield about it. He really liked my concept and made some minor suggestions to make the lettering on it a tad larger for legibility and whatnot, since the design wouldn't be changed much he quoted me a very reasonable price saying it would take about 2 hours to do. Feeling motivated, I made my appointment for the following Tuesday at 4 to have it done.
I came in with my friend and was greeted by the same secretary, who remembered my name (sadly I never caught hers) and was then immediately greeted by Colby. He went in back and brought out his sketch up of my tattoo, and it took my concept to a whole 'notha level. Loving it, I said let's do it and he brought me back. He lined up the rub on tracing on my back and was concerned enough to actually get some second opinions of other artists about the placement and alignment (I have a back thing that makes my spine curve slightly to the left) which made me feel really good. Then he had me lie on the table and got to work.
Being my first tattoo and a fairly large piece he was diligent about making sure I was comfortable. He told me that due to the complexity of the piece that I might want to come back in for a second session to do the shading, but said "we'll see how it goes, it's all up to you."
He finished the line work in under two hours and then let me take a break. He asked how I felt and I said, lets get some of the shading done and see how I feel. After figuring I've got the thing over half done and didn't feel like coming back for a second session because I'm impatient, I said screw it, let's finish the whole thing.
In all the tattoo took about 5 and a half hours to do, over twice as long as we initially guessed. He complimented me on my resolve for being able to handle that long of a session, but I figured that I wasn't that tolerant of pain, I just didn't say anything. lol. I am more than pleased with the artwork and give Colby props for doing an amazing job. The kicker is that despite the work taking twice as long, he actually priced it right in the middle of the range he initially gave the Tuesday prior. Definitely a man of his word. I gave him a good tip to show my thanks and will definitely go back to that shop with any touch ups or ideas I have in the future. -

I was contacted by a rep from the shop immediately after posting my review. She assured me that it is not FTW's business practice to override any customer's requests (not that I thought that in the first place) and that the artist (Goodspeed) was not aware that it bothered me so much.
Don't get me wrong: I've seen a lot of great work come out of this shop. And the prices are very competetive. Just don't ask for white ink.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I've gotten tattoos from J.D. and Chip, and I love them both with all my heart. They might disagree with what you want, but they're looking out for you, not trying to bring you down. They refuse to tattoo hands, faces, and necks for the same reason.
I've been going here for three years now and I don't regret a single piece. I even used to have Angela stretch my ears before she left for nursing school or some other medical related line of practice. The entire place is totally clean, they're quick, they're professional, and they're about as awesome as it gets. They even have a private photo area to immortalize your tattoo in picture as well as on your flesh.
They usually have plenty of time for walk-ins, despite having a pretty full appointment book. They're wonderful guys, and I only wish that other Yelpers get the honor and pleasure of their handiwork. -

Where do I begin?
This place is sort of hidden, and you're liable to pass it up if you don't creep along when you see the golden arches next door. Don't let the outside appearance deceive you, this place is huge. There's a great vibe, a really cool collection of Lucky Bastard's knick-knacks, mementos, and curiosities on the back wall. It's always super clean (probably the cleanest bathroom I've ever stepped in. Smells like Dial orange soap!) The staff is friendly (and hilarious) and there's always a good playlist on the iPod shuffling through.
For a long time I had been shopping around for tattoo places and artists. What I usually encountered was over hyped prices because of location, or sub-par quality, scab peddlers, and shady looking facilities. There just aren't many tattoo shops with integrity. FTW don't just tattoo you, tell you to pay up and scram. They will make you loyal patrons. They consult you, give you the pros and cons about your tattoo (for instance, size affects how it will look in the future when you're old and leathery) offer input and advice, because this is a lifetime commitment. They do really amazing custom jobs that surpass any ideas I give them.
Chip Douglas never fails to amaze me with his work. I usually come in with a couple of concepts for something, a few reference pictures, and in a couple of days he gets back to me with something that blows me away. Sometimes I give him a picture of something and say "this is what I want" and he'll do it exactly as is, maybe add a thing or two and bring it to life. But I find that when I give him a bit more room for creativity he really gets into it, it becomes much more personal, and he comes up with really amazing work.
I've already followed Chip from another shop to this, and I will say if he ever moves too far, I will have to arrange road trips to get work done. I guess I am just loyal. He's like the equivalent of someone's trusted barber or hairstylist. I trust his judgment. He pretty much knows what I want and delivers every time.
But don't be afraid to check out the other guys. I just have a retarded sense of loyalty that may prevent me from getting badass tatttoos from other very talented artists. I'm okay with that. But seriously, take a look at everyone's portfolio, you'll be impressed and then have a hard time choosing, so just let every one give you at least 1 tattoo. Why the hell not?
One down side is that they are usually booked a week or so in advance. So this isn't the place for you if you're on some stupid whim to get your lover's name on your ankle with flowers and butterflies. But I think it may be best you hold off on your impulses any way. Tattoos are a lifetime commitment. And your butterfly tattoo can probably wait another week. That's just the way it goes here. You'll come in for a consult, get a price and next week or maybe even in a day or two you will come in and get the raddest butterfly of your life! And that is worth waiting for, I think.
I told you they have integrity. -

Ben did my first tattoo at FTW two years ago...I had called several local shops to describe my design and a couple of them told me it was too difficult (it involved several circles which apparently are hard to tattoo perfectly on an uneven surface.) Ben said no problem and went ahead to do a fabulous job on my tattoo. Ben's no longer with FTW but Chip is~
Chip did my sister's first tattoo and my next one and we love his work. He's a real sweetheart who'll set you at ease (if you're looking for that) and does solid, crisp linework. (His portfolio is filled with gorgeous color and B/W work but so far my designs have been very simple.)
Both Ben and Chip were super patient with placement to make sure my designs were EXACTLY right before inking them in. I appreciate not feeling rushed since it's permanent :)
FTW is super clean and has a mellow vibe. I'm lucky to live so close but if I didn't they would be worth a drive. Highly recommended. -

After months of researching tattoo shops in the Orange County area, I stumbled upon a huge article about Fine Tattoo Work in a Japanese tattoo magazine. I didn't want to base my decision on which shop seemed more famous, but I wanted a reasonable price and good vibes from the people that work there. I shopped around (over 5) different shops in my area, seeing what price they would give me for the tattoo that I wanted. I also wanted to see how I felt about the people because if I'm going to get a permanent mark on my body then I want to feel comfortable. Every tattoo shop that I went to was seriously trying to rip me off. I may look like an innocent little Asian girl, but I'm not an idiot.
Fine Tattoo Work was our last stop and I had high hopes. Right when we walked in, we were greeted by everyone! Their shop is HUGE and so clean. The people were very approachable and gave an honest/fair price with great opinions & ideas on my tattoo idea. I had nothing left to think about. I did it right then and there. It turned out great. JD St. Berdoo was my tattoo artist and he did a great job. He talked me through everything and really made an effort to calm my nerves. I would defintely recommend him.
After seeing what a good job they did, my boyfriend decided to get a half sleeve done by Chip Douglas. Again, the price was reasonable and the service was awesome. His tattoo looks bad ass. Chip really has a great talent.
If you're thinking of getting a tattoo and are in the Orange County, give them a call!Listed in: Alter Ego

I got my first tattoo here back in May of 2005 from Ben Fitzgerald. My wife found this shop for us to get tattooed. At the time she lived nearby and basically just walked in, talked to Ben and set up our appointments.
Ben did a great job, his work is really clean and crisp. I would go back to this shop if I could afford to get tattooed on a more regular basis!!!
As far as atmosphere and friendliness... uhh it's a tattoo shop, I could care less as long as the Tattoo work is good... but yes it is a very clean well lighted shop and the people are oh so friendly. :Thumbs Up: -

Johnny Stone did my first and only (so far!) tattoo about 2 years ago at Fine Tattoo Work. I came in with a couple of unrelated pictures of components I wanted included, and more of an idea of the feeling I wanted to convey than what it would actually look like. He created a beautiful piece of art that married all of those components together. I still smile every time I see my tattoo, which is what prompted me to write this review. Johnny listened to me, although I'm glad I listened to his suggestions on size and the exact placement.
The shop was clean and everyone was welcoming. There were lots of curios and things along the walls, which were a nice distraction during the outlining phase. There was only a half wall separating the tattoo area and the waiting room, so if you bring more than one person with you its not like the others are completely cut off from the experience. -

Clean and big shop, friendly service, chill atmosphere.
I looked through many reviews of other tattoo shops in the area, and decided to go in one day after making a phone call for prices and the sorts.
There was a very friendly girl in the front, that made you feel comfortable and welcomed. JD was the one that was gonna be doing my tattoo so I gave him some images of the flower I wanted, and he told me to come back a few days later after he made some sketches.
Went back, saw the sketches, decided I wanted something a little different than what he had drawn out and JD told me that it may not hold up as well(I'm glad he was honest about that) but he'll do it the way I wanted, if that was really what I wanted.
He was very professional, fast, and somehow it was not that painful(though the rib area is supposed to be one of the most painful).
I saw a sign that said "No neck, face, or hands tattoos" near JD's work area and asked about it and was told that he refused to do those tattoos on younger kids because they may regret it in the future, i.e. while trying to get a job and so forth. I'm sure there are a lot of kids grateful for that. I liked that he was not all about just tatting up anyone for money.
So my tattoo was done faster than I thought, and I don't know about other people, but I personally liked it that JD wasn't blabbering away while working(some people may like the artist talking a lot *shrug*). I think I might have felt uneasy if he was talking and not concentrating on my piece. Most of the talking that happened was about him telling me that I could come in anytime for a touch-up, free of charge, if the shading(the way I had requested it) wasn't dark enough, because he would rather do it too light and darken it later than make it too dark and not be able to lighten it up.
When I went to pay for the work, the price was less than he had originally quoted! Can't go wrong there! I am very pleased with my piece and haven't needed to return for a touch-up but plan on going back for more when I can decide on what I want next. -

I had a tattoo on my foot done previously by a "tattoo artist" that did not do such a great job. I went in yesterday and had it re-touched by Colby, he did such a great job making my tattoo look like what I initially wanted it to look like. He paid so much attention to detail and went above what we had originally agreed to do. I used to like my tattoo, but now I love it! Needless to say my husband and I will definitely be going back for more tattoos. Highly recommended.

First of all, Jamie who works up front is soooo nice and helpful!!! They got me in the same day I called and the prices were so reasonable. My artist was Steve Goodspeed and he was awesome. Even though my tattoo was pretty simple, he took his time drawing and showing me a lot of options. I would recommend that everyone go here :)

VERY big ol' shop that u can't miss.
People their are nice, but not great pretenders.. it was a Thursday i just got paid..looked over the reviews on yelp of this place and figure what the hell not i just got out of class and this sound like a very interesting place n i could of easily checked out Goodfellas (got my first tattoo here) but I wanted an azn person to do my last name in chinese character. Went thru Yelp & their website found out in the tattoo shop the guy was korean. When we got there I guess it was my fault i didnt bring a picture of the tattoo i wanted. But a little fault was them saying they "didnt have internet connections" or because "they have slow connections" whatever it was..out of nowhere the Korean guy was easily logged on to their main page and googled "Lee", i was a little pissed at first that they said they didnt have internet connection BUT after they finished my tattoo for a $20 deposit (because i wasnt sure if i wanted to get it done that same date or the next day..in the end i ended up tatting the same date) Tattoo came out VERY nice, had it on my upper left shoulder, three inches for $90 in chinese brush strokes (in my homedown they were going to charge me 90 bucks for one inch and a half -_-). My friend even had a crush on the artist.
Definitely recommend others to bring a picture of whatever you want to be tatt'd just in case so you WON'T have to go threw what I did. Fast service and you might want to get an appointment..if your lucky like me appointment was cancelled last minute and he was able to tatt me that day. -

I got my first tattoo here. I decided to check this place out based on all the positive yelp reviews I saw. I wanted to get a tattoo in celebration of my golden birthday, and I chose to have my last name in Chinese put on the nape of my neck. The shop itself is huge! I think they advertised their shop as being one of the largest tattoo/piercing parlors around? Anyway, it's very spacious and super clean. I brought in a picture of my last name written on a tile, as well as a copy that my grandfather wrote out for me. There was a little discrepancy between the two characters and of course I wanted to make sure that it was correct! Colby was just as adamant about making sure it was right and was patient enough to wait until we could get verification. The sketch that he drew from both pictures was amazing! He was able to combine the calligraphy from the tile with the accuracy on the copy, and actually he was even the one to bring up the discrepancy in the first place. The entire process went very smoothly despite my huge fear of the pain from getting a tattoo; it wasn't so bad! Definitely bearable and Colby was again patient and very cool about it. I loved the end result and my friend ended up going back to him to get a few more tattoos! The price was more than reasonable enough considering everything I got. I love my tattoo and it healed in a little over a week, no joke. Needless to say, I had a fantastic experience here!

Got my first tat here and I was just a walk in one night. I was going from place to place getting quotes, and for three little hearts on each wrist, they had the best price. They look great even after almost 2 yrs and the color is still pretty bright. I did seem to get a little "you dont know what you want" attitude, but all in all, it was a good experience. The place is very clean and comfortable, (reminded me of a dr office kinda clean) great for a semi germ-a-phobe like me. Will def go back if I ever get another one.

I had my first session with JD on Sunday, and I'm completely stoked about this tat so far, and I can't wait to see the finished product. I had gone to a couple of other tattoo shops, but this one by far captured my attention from the start. It's large, open, and full of great visual representations of the artists' styles. The staff is very helpful, knowledgeable, and totally friendly.

i heard about this place from a friend of mines whose been coming here for a good while. I decided to come in and check it out. The place was nice and clean and pretty friendly. The artists does amazing work. I booked an appointment and they said "lucky" was booked for the next 4 months, but somehow they managed to squeeze me in within a week =) i was ecstatic!! I gave him a brief detail of what i want to get on my rib cage and he actually gave me better ideas. Like i wanted a hummingbird with a Japanese theme, but he said it was better to go with a different type of bird that was more traditionally found in japan. I like how they help you with the details of your tattoo design so it can all connects together rather then just tattooing stuff that didn't make sense. SO far the price range is pretty decent, nothing to complain about. i have about 4 more sessions to go to, and already my piece is looking fabulous!! more then i expected it to be. =) I'm so excited to see the finish work!
