10 reviews for Fina Italian Bistro
I needed someplace near the airport to grab something quick. It's such a charming little place with the exposed brick, the white table cloths, and the jazz!! Oh the music!! The music fed me as much, or more than the actual food!
So, I ordered the lunch special, which was a fina salad and the vegetable primavera. The salad only consisted of lettuce and a few sprinklings of tomato, but the dressing, a champagne vinaigrette, was quite impressive.
The pasta looked a lot better than it tasted. In retrospect I think I would have enjoyed it very much with the vinaigrette. I think it needed some garlic and some fresh cracked pepper. I ate the veggies and left most of the pasta. It was an OK lunch, quick, and charming, so I gave it 3 stars.
I grabbed a shot of the yelp sticker in the door, I had never seen one before, so this was an exciting find!
Yay!! my first yelp siting!!!
Good stuff! We tried this place for the first time this past Friday (squeezing an anniversary dinner into an insanely busy weekend) and enjoyed ourselves.
The atmosphere is perfect... intimate, warm and inviting. The live jazz was wonderful, though just a tetch loud for the size of the room. I had the chicken saltimbocca, husband had lasagne. Both were very good. Mine came with a spinich fettucine that was absolutely fantastic. We will definately return as we had a very hard time choosing between a couple of very appealing entrees. Pricing is very reasonable and they had some excellent daily specials that will also bring us back!
Do be aware that the online menu is out of date and some things are no longer offered. We were attracted by the an appetizer that is no longer listed, but since they still have the ingredients, they made it for us.
I wanted to like Fina, really, really, really did want to. But, it just didn't do it for me. The service was shaky for absolutely no reason. There was a nice steady pace of customers to keep one busy, but not too little of one in order to make the servers lazy, but they were. We were completely confused because one person came to take our drink orders and gave us her whole spill that she was our server, we were waiting on our drinks. Someone else came and gave us his spill, asked for the same drink orders - and seemed to be confused when we told him we already had a server. Maybe we should have asked him too so SOMEONE would pay us some attention.
We placed our orders. I ordered this under the pasta dish: Shrimp Scampi sautéed shrimp in extra virgin olive oil and garlic. Now, I was expecting the pasta as it was under the pasta menu, though it was not in the description. But, why was it completely overwhelmed in onions and tomatoes as well? Maybe the scampi I've had in the past was not 'real', but this scampi was NOTHING like anything I have ever known as a scampi taste and it was not tasty. As with many Italian places, it was apparent that they had bread service. Where I have gone in the past, they bring out the bread shortly after the order is places as an appetizer of sorts. We practically had to beg for bread, no one came to give it to us until we were about 10 minutes into our meal. The parmesan cheese was mediocre and was obviously a community bowl that had a great deal of debris in it.
The boyfriend seemed to enjoy his meal, so I would return with our handy-dandy http://www.restaurant.com gift certificate. We had a $25 voucher that was originally $10 with a $35 minimum purchase. Of course, we got a deal on the $10 purchase price, so it was only like $2. We had to order dessert in order to reach our $35 price minimum. The dessert was lackluster. I had cheesecake, he had something like a cannolli?
This place was nice, the service was a little slow considering it was a Friday night and only three tables were occupied. The food just wasn't very good, I had the Lasagna and my friend had the Chicken Alfredo. His alfredo looked like chicken helper and my lasagna, well they forgot to season the ground beef, it was just very, very bland. I doubt I will go back, the prices were reasonable, but honestly I'd rather have Olive Garden, yep it was that bad.
Cute, cute, cozy place this Fina Italian Bistro on Main Street in College Park across from the College Park Marta Station.
I was using a gift certificate and went with a couple friends for dinner. I just love the space with it's exposed brick walls and paper covered tables. It's warm and dimly lit, making it the perfect spot for a quiet dinner with your special someone.
Our server was perfect...friendly with just the right amount of presence...not obtrusive. We expressed our raging hunger and she quickly reappeared with warm crusty bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Shortly after ordering, we were able to dive into our appetizer of calamari. It was expertly prepared with just a light dusting of flour making it ever so crispy and served with a delicious spicy marinara. We devoured it in seconds and the bread kept coming.
I sampled my friends' entrees of Lamb Rigatoni and Veal Toscano. The lamb was very tender and served with peas and a warm rosemary infused gravy over the pasta. The veal was prepared in a red wine and mushroom sauce, good but unremarkable. I ordered the duck for one because I wanted something different, but mainly because it came with a wild mushroom risotto. The duck was perfectly rare and tender but quite fatty as is duck's tendency. The wild mushroom risotto had the flavor I was looking for, but they could have spared about half the mushrooms.
Two of us splurged for dessert (i told you we were famished) which was cheesecake with strawberry sauce and tiramisu. Both were average at best and the tiramisu was quite dry with a limited amount of coffee liqueur barely soaking the ladyfingers.
I really enjoyed my experience at Fina because of the service and the atmosphere. The food is acceptable and I'll definitely be back to try some of their other entrees.
This place is always busy!!!!!
Located in Historic College Park -- Your mouth will start watering before you even get your bread! The aromas floating forth from the kitchen are dazzling....... Great ambiance..... the wait staff is super nice and the food is to die for!!!! The calamari is a must..... I've had their Veal Toscana and Lasana and can't get enough of those...thus I have not ordered anything else until I've had my fill!
They also have live jazz a few nights out of the week. Great place for a date or just go by yourself and people watch. Very intimate dining in a wonderful setting.
Cheers!
We went here to listen some jazz music. The musician was pretty good and enjoyable to listen to while eating. The bread they brought was very good. I had the Chicken Pesto Pasta. The sauce and pasta was good but the chicken was dry. The chicken being dry is why the restaurant didn't get 4 stars. My boyfriend had the arugula and prosciutto pizza. It was a good size and looked very good. He said it tasted very good as well. I had the tiramisu for dessert. It was ok ,but I don't recommend it. My boyfriend had the creme brulee. It was so good! The decor was very nice and cozy. Our waitress was very attentive and nice.
Went here on a quiet weekday night during the Christmas holidays to use a $25 gift certificate from http://Restaurant.com (that was bought for only $10). Very cozy atmosphere. Nice wine list... I like the fact that you can order by the carafe as well as the bottle. The bread is very good and they serve it with olive oil -and- balsamic vinegar, yum. I ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca, which was very tasty... I ate every bite. Can't remember what my husband ordered but, whatever it was, it was good as well. Too full to try any of their desserts. Maybe next time!
Just South of the airprt in College Park right there on Main Street, is a charming Italian restaurant with an understated and refined feel. The food is excellent, albeit a bit cliche.
Came here for lunch and had a good pannino, but I wished I'd gotten the minute lunch. For 14 bucks you can get a decent bowl of pasta, a green salad, and a glass of wine, brought out all lickety split. The food overall was good, but the service was a little spacey, for variety I'd come back, but the feed store next door's a better bet.
