I was in Plano, TX and I wanted sushi - and I was between Ra and Fin.  I have been to Ra in other cities and it can sometimes seem like an Ed Hardy convention so I opted for the slightly higher-rated Fin.  The location and the front door are pretty unassuming at about 10PM, however, when I entered I became a convert of two kinds.  1) You must try the baked flounder roll before you die.  2) You must go on a night where you can enjoy the service of Galen the bartender/server/entertainer.  They are open late and I enjoyed a happy hour special on Coors Light, too - bonus!

I will return, and probably tomorrow night as I am in Plano for another night.

    Go eat there!

My boyfriend and I was heading to Ra Sushi. He wanted to try it, but I told him it was going to be a long wait. He was then hesitant about going. We looked for another sushi restaurant nearby and found Fin Sushi and Sake. I love how it was hidden and when you walk inside you're like WOW. The place atmosphere was amazing. You have the sushi bar when you walk in and the bar. As you walk down there's intimate dining area. Great for small groups, but even better for couples. My bf wanted to watch the game so the seating at the sushi bar was perfect. Everything is decently priced for the area. We got 3 special rolls (Windhaven, Green Scream and Just Out of the Roll) and one eel roll with two drinks and crab tartar.... total price $70-80 for two! We were stuffed. The appetizer was not on a small plate. I will see you again Fin Sushi... :)

FYI- Right when you walk in turn left... there is a wall of sushi images. Most of them isn't on the menu. Just Out of the Roll wasn't on the menu and it was amazing! Fin Sushi uses soypaper, seaweed and other vegetables as a wrap for the sushi. You can even create one.

So, I guess I'm the contrarian voice here. I went today for lunch and I was not impressed.

When I walked in (close to noon) I was the only customer and only two others came in while I was there.  Yet I still sat with an empty cup waiting for a refill of tea for several minutes on two different occasions.  The sushi chef, who stood directly across from me texting on his phone made no attempt to be friendly at all.  All of this I can forgive if the food is awesome.  ...but it wasn't.

The fish was okay, but certainly not the freshest.  The preparation of the scallop sushi was small pieces wrapped in nori.  This is, IMHO, a far lesser option than large pieces of scallop served over rice.  The crab in the spider roll was only lukewarm, which takes what should be a spectacular dish and kills it.

Prices are not cheap.  There was no "lunch special" deal on offer.  At these prices $6 per Nigiri sushi pair and $9 per standard roll, one would normally expect a complimentary miso soup or small salad....nope.

From where I work, Densetsu (on Spring Creek) is about a 2 minute further drive than Fin.  I needed to try this place to satisfy my curiosity, but I won't be back.

Arrived at 5:30 and there was 1 poor girl working. When i asked where everyone was, she said they all start at 6. We sat outside and moved inside because she was too busy.At 6 the bartender came in too  save the day. He let me sample a great sake, and was attentive the whole time. The sushi was okay, but way over priced for the quality. Small pieces of fish, brown avocado , spicy tuna looked like mush and had no flavor. 15$ a roll is ridiculous for the quality they had. I will stick to Edoko sushi and skip trying to find a cheap sushi happy hour.

I cannot fathom why this place has so many good reviews.  I would not take restaurant recommendations from any of the reviewers who had good things to say about Fin.

The appetizer salad was awful and the miso soup was tolerable, but nothing I would write home about.  The sushi sampler consisted of tuna, salmon, and what the waitress called white tuna and which definitely did not taste like any white tuna I've ever had.  The tuna and salmon tasted fine.

I ordered the tempura roll and it was so poorly made that it feel apart when I picked it up.  The taste was fine.

My mom ordered the shrimp tempura entree and it was fine, but I've honestly made better at home.  The veggies were good, but the shrimp was slightly over-cooked.

I had the chicken teriyaki which was dry and not at all seasoned.  Without the teriyaki sauce, it tasted like a rubbery piece of "meat."

The atmosphere is typical of most upscale sushi places, think Blue Fish, but the decor, nice chairs, and cool looking bar don't make up for the food, which was below average at best.

The menu itself is anemic and all over the place.

I'm not new to the sushi world and have been to many places in Dallas and California.  I caution you against spending your money for anything at this place.

If you have a Living Social deal for this place (I purchased the $25 for $50 worth of sushi) I suggest not getting any alcoholic drinks or just one or two. I knew that alcoholic drinks were not included in the deal but I didn't realize that they would not even honor happy hour prices of the drinks. When realizing this we asked if we could put them on a different tab since they had nothing to do with the deal anyway but they wouldn't let us. So what should have been $6 for drinks ended up being $26. Was not that impressed with the sushi either, I've had better. Will not be going back to this place.

We tried out this restaurant for the first time, thanks to a LivingSocial deal! We have our few favorite sushi places in the Dallas area among many that we've tried, but this restaurant was a good place to go to in our book. The location is hidden in an empty-looking plaza off the Tollway, but once you step into Fin, it has an intimate ambience, with a clean modern style. I liked how our booth had screen walls around us for some privacy. Their sushi menu was extensive, including different specialty rolls that we haven't seen before at other places, even Well-Being (healthy) rolls.  We had the Louisiana Roll (just ok), Kalbi Roll with short rib beef slice in it (yum!), SCS Roll, and another roll with cherry sauce (different, but good). Service was wonderful and attentive.  If we are in the area again, we would go back!

Wow, these were definitely the most delicious sushi rolls I've ever had!

I came here with a couple of friends and we split 6 rolls and an appetizer between the 3 of us.  It was definitely too much food, but I was so glad to try it all!  We started with hot sakes--apple and raspberry.  Definitely loved the apple, but the raspberry wasn't bad.  For the appetizer, we had the spicy crab tartar.  It was pretty delicious!  Nice and spicy and it looked like an octopus with little wonton tentacles.  Next time I'd probably skip it and go straight to the rolls, though.

The rolls we ordered were:  california roll, spicy tuna roll, baked snapper roll, bulgoki roll, spicy crunch roll and spring roll.  All of them were so delicious.  One of my friends really liked the simpler rolls best...the california, spicy tuna and the bulgoki (california roll topped with lettuce and bulgogi).  I think the bulgoki was the crowned favorite in general with its crisped pieces of flavorful meat...yum!  But, I also REALLY liked the spring roll, which was a sushi roll w/out rice and with rice paper instead.  Their online menu doesn't mention it, but I could've sworn they said there was mango on it.  Regardless, all the flavors combined were so fresh and tasty.

I feel like this is one of those places where you can't go wrong with whatever you get.  I don't live around here, but I wish I did.  This is definitely a place to hit up if you're in the Dallas area!

    3.5 stars.

This place deserves to get more business. It definitely has a place in my heart. It's a relatively new place (like opened less than 2 years ago) right off of Windhaven right off the Tollway and is kind of hidden. The sushi chefs here are very nice and the wait staff is incredibly friendly.

I really enjoy their appetizers here. I always get these crab stuffed mushrooms, which even though they just use the fake imitation crab meat, these mushrooms are still delicious.

I will order philadelphia hand rolls here. Their salmon is pretty good quality, and their fish is at least fresh. WAAYYYY better than Naan or RA at the Shops of Legacy, but not as good as Sushi Sake in Richardson. It's also a good place to go for lunch but I guess the atmosphere at Legacy is better for drinking and socializing but the food here is definitely better. I just wish they had toro.

If you are in North Dallas and can't make it downtown then this is definitely the place to go!

I would actuallly give this place a 3.5 rating if there was an option to. This is a new place that just opened up behind Willow Bend Mall. Decent sushi and pretty good happy hour specials...30% off selective special sushi rolls and I forgot what the drink specials are. Not my favorite for dinner, but good for happy hour.

    GOT RAMEN?!?

A fairly new restaurant in the area with WONDERFUL sushi & sashimi. I highly recommend the Yellowtail Heaven. But you came to my site for the ramen review.

After our first or second visit, the manager let us know that they had added ramen to the menu. So, I tried it. Unfortunately, I wasn't that impressed. It honestly tasted like they prepared and served pre-packaged Korean Ramyeon. The broth was reddish in color and more spice than flavor. There also weren't any toppings, just noodles and broth.

Don't get me wrong, I eat here on a monthly basis, eventhough it takes us 45 minutes to an hour to get there. The sushi and sake are always fabulous and some of the best in town - especially during happy hour!

WHERE has this place been all my Dallas-life???

We actually found the place on Yelp, looking for late night sushi.  And holy dragon roll, I am so glad we tried it.  We got a bunch of rolls, including some with eel, which I don't usually love.  I'll eat it, but I'm not crazy about it.  This was SO delicious I hardly knew what to do with myself.  We got the eel roll as well as the dragon roll (eel on top, yada yada), and I had to fight my boyfriend for the last pieces.  The fish they use is the freshest fish I've ever had, I'm serious, the place with like six reviews and a Duke with two check-ins has the best sushi I maybe have ever had.  The nigiri is SOOOOOOOOOOO good.  That's kind of (obviously) how I tell how good the fish is, and the salmon nigiri was really delicate and incredible.

Gahlen is an amazing server too!!!!  Really cool and full of great suggestions!

I went here for sushi with some coworkers for dinner and loved it.  Great food and cute interior.  Their sushi is fantastic - very fresh and plentiful. Get the Diane Roll and Green Scream roll - different and so refreshing. They also have some really great happy hour deals on both sushi and drinks, which we happily took advantage of.  I've also heard they have really good lunch specials.
Our server was somewhat friendly, but she seemed annoyed with us because we were taking so long to decide on what to order (we were catching up, that is more important then deciding immediately on what rolls we wanted) and sat there after talking for a while. P.S. There were not a lot of other people in the restaurant, so it's not like we were holding up a table that other customers were waiting on. Otherwise I'd for sure give 5 stars and hope to go back next time I'm in TX!

Really great. Good lunch specials on incredibly fresh fish. The place itself has cool decor and even at lunch had a decent number of customers, but it is a little sad how empty the shopping center is. We'll have to come back and try some of their happy hour food and drink specials.

It took me years to get up the nerve to try sushi, once I did I knew I would like it from that day on. But it wasn't until I went to Fin that I became a true sushi lover and addict. The staff is friendly and always willing to help you through the menu if you have any questions. I highly recommend trying the Spicy Mini Roll and the Fin Volcano and the Yellowtail Heaven and the crab tartar for starters. If you are new to sake drinking then ask Steve the manager for guidance, he will narrow it down to a few for you to sample.

I definitely was surprised by this place! It was suggested by a friend whom randomly found it, so we finally had time to try it out. It was a little awkward to find JUST because it is located in a corner, literally, of the plaza. When we walked inside, it was quite ambient and cozy. The bar's table top was absolutely stunning to look at and their "booths" have screens you can pull down for "privacy". We ended up with a table in the back by the window, which worked out perfectly. The restaurant is still fairly new so it was quite empty, which meant a lot of attention from the server.
We had four rolls total: White Roll, Winter Roll, Kalbi Roll and Bulgoki  Roll. The best one had to have been the White and the Kalbi Roll. For those who don't know what kalbi is, it is Korean short rib aka Korean BBQ. I was VERY shocked at how delicious the kalbi roll was, considering it was meat in a sushi roll.
After we finished our "main course", I opted for ice cream since I noticed there was FRIED ICE CREAM. If you haven't had fried ice cream yet, I HIGHLY suggest you try it. They have flavors of vanilla, strawberry, red bean, mango and green tea. They ran out of mango so I chose green tea (which was my second choice ANYWAY) instead. When it came out, it looked like two big pieces. It was really one ball of fried ice cream cut in half and laid out for presentation with a dollop of whipped cream on the side.
This was a GREAT find and a delicious adventure! I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

I never thought it would be this way. A restaurant so good, so deserving that it makes me fill out all these annoying boxes and confirmations just to write a review?? No Way! But here I am. My first official review for the first sushi restaurant that blew me away here in Dallas.

I've had better. Of course "better" always exists either elsewhere or in some different time but that "better" seemed faded in my memory today, especially being served by this freshness. The fish and rice were in smart proportions and the presentation of the platter was exquisite. I tried the "Recommended" roll since they have so many varieties but to be honest, even the plain ol' Salmon Roll was rawesome! The service was even top-notch and the price was right around the range of "Damn that's nice."

Other than that I knocked a star out for decor. Don't get me wrong, the place is fancy but maybe I was sitting on the wrong side of the restaurant? I don't know and I don't care since I will be sitting there again very soon.

Fin was a very nice surprise!  For this neighborhood sushi joint they do a great job.  It is not Japanese operated so I was very cautious at first but was very glad I tried it.  The food was good and the presentation is fantastic.  Hope this place gets more traffic because it is rather hidden.

I love this place! I had heard great things about from my roommate who goes there at least once a week and it was date night so me my girlfriend and another couple went to try this place out. First, the decor is great, very chic but warm feeling. We were seated right when you came in the door in a little alcove that made us feel like we were the only ones in the place, loved it. Chairs were comfy and the whole thing was very aesthetically pleasing. The staff was more then wonderful, my glass was never empty and we were checked on frequently. Two men (who I assume were the owners or managers) were always around asking how it was going, if we needed anything. The food was delicious. I tried the tempura sampler app that was delicious and then tried several different sushi rolls that were all fresh and very good. There were MANY sake options, almost too much for me, I didn't get any this time, but I definitely will next time. I heard there is a chefs special that's around $20 that gets you tons of food and sushi rolls, I will be trying that next time I go too. This place is awesome, adorable and a must try!
