I can't believe there is a Filippi's in Napa. It retains all the quality that San Diego Filippi's have. Torpedo's and all pasta items are fucking brills.
If you don't like Filippi's you are probably a patchouli oiled fool.

I didn't know it was possible to make a pizza this bad. You'd think that something that greasy would at least taste good, but, on the contrary, it's just a bunch of rubbery, bland cheese on a cardboard crust. The rest of their dishes don't deserve to be called Italian. It's just a bunch of cheap ingredients tossed together.
The location had housed some great restaurants in it's day, which all closed because there used to be nothing else nearby, but now with Copia and the Oxbow center nearby, this little grease trap has managed to survive.
Please don't waste your money at Filippi's. I yearn for the day they go out of business so that something that serves food worth eating can occupy it's space.

Pizzas are a under flavored greasy mess, with dirty pizza oven soot on the crust as their signature. We go if we are starving because it's close to our house. My Mother in law loves to go for the lasagna, but the past few times it's been cold in the center. Nice.
Tonight was the last time I will ever go there. The girls at the front desk must have been going for some kind of bitchiness award. I asked a simple question about why they were overcharging me for something and was totally nice about it.After a long drawn out "explanation" which didn't address my question I got supreme attitude and even the fake-nice "HAVE A SUPER WONDERFUL NIGHT" said through a clenched jaw, which was totally uncalled for. I've used that line before while working retail and can guarantee it was not necessary.Just a bunch of high schoolers with no supervision working there, in the kitchen and FOH.
Foul.
HI there,
Filippi's is good pizza. The room is a little dirty for my taste which brings down the experience and makes me give this local 3 stars. I have a hard time eating when everywhere you look is dirty. Cobwebs, faded spots, dirty carpet, spots on the wall. The food is standard, not too interesting but good. The prices are moderate and parking is challenging because of the location. Dave says he likes it but he doesn't love it - "there's too much fennel in their sausage".
I first ate at a Filippi's in San Diego some years back, it came highly recommended by a friend who'd lived in the area for years. we decided to check it out and were happy we did. So much so that I was overjoyed to hear they were opening a place in Downtown Napa. It was like hearing that an old friend was moving back to town after years of being away.
And sure enough our man Tom, runs a family style place that more that lives up to a tradition of quality Italian food. Big portions with lots of flavor and a variety of entries, all of which have little gems in them. I find the food to my liking so much that I never mind eating the same thing two days in a row. The most notable quality of the place is probably the staff, all of who are friendly down to earth people. Not once have I walked in there without being greeted by a smiling face.
It should be noted however that Filippi's is a working class / family restaurant, and if you and your kids are used to eating meals off of silver spoons you may not find it to your liking.
I've been in there at least once a month (often times fare more than that) since they opened in Napa and will continue to go back for meals, birthdays, parties and any other excuse I can find for years to come.
It's definitely quantity over quality here. I find the pizzas to be mediocre at best, and you just can't past how one-note the pizzas are in terms of too much sauce, too much cheese, too much of everything except for flavor.
It's really family friendly so I know that's a large part of the appeal. And those serving sizes probably mean more to folks who are looking to stretch that dollar and entertain the family at a pizza place. I understand that there's a place for this type of pizza joint, and Filippi's does pretty brisk business from these types.
But flavor-wise, if you're looking for a decent everyday sort of pizza, you'd be much better off at La Prima Pizza (first pick) or Papa Joe's (second)
Could be the worst place in town? They have real industrial strength food that leads with the salt. The portions are generous but do you really want to eat it? Their pizza has mastered sealing in the grease by using two layers of cheese. My kids even poke fun at the idea that we might eat there again.
