I gave my boyfriend a few gift certificates to this place several years ago as a birthday present. He was always entranced with "Top Gun" (I swear, the next time he shakes his fist a la Tom Cruise when we pass Miramar on the 5, I'm going to punch him in the face), so I thought this would be a decent gift.
Boy, was I right. These simulators are pod-like things that you sit in. Some of the pods move, some don't. You can link up to "fight" other players and the graphics are pretty decent.
The service here is great, all of the staff wears snazzy flight uniforms, and everyone seems enthusiastic about their jobs. They were also really helpful. I would recommend doing this if you're looking for an "edgy" experience without doing the real thing.
